Caravan in Islington

We found a place by chance during the weekend without a reservation (all the restaurants were full, it is advisable to reserve). The service was fast and friendly. Good variety with options that are a little out of the ordinary. They only accept card payments. We were looking forward to trying the brunch/breakfast option.

Nice...but no pizzas......beware!

Felt rushed out of the door and the food was really quite average - I think I'd be better off at a Pret! It's not cheap and the original spark that Caravan had is gone. Don't recommend anymore. The staff also didn't give recommendations and were quite confused with even simple questions.

Had the cod. Quick service, great spot for lunch.

Good, but ridiculous prices for a couple of bites of protein with some grains. 3 pints, 4 bites of chorizo and some fried rice and an egg. £47 with service charge 😂

Great spot to have a coffee and buy beans at a good price

Really tasty food and mocktail options. The menu is very interesting with a lot of healthy options. The only downside was the caramelised brioche dessert - personally it wasn’t sweet enough but all in all very tasty.

Food: Nice brunch & lunch dishes with a varied menu 🍳 The coffee is great though definitely on the pricier side (£10+ for an oat mocha & oat flat white!) ☕️ Atmosphere: it was almost full so had a nice buzz for a Sunday afternoon

Excellent brunch, just that bit different, the best Merguez sausage was the best ever.

Very busy on Sunday 11-12 but weather was good so sat outside under heaters. Staff were amazing, attentive and helpful. Cumberland sausage Pattie was unusual and tasty, veggie breakfasts were superb, the coffee here is some of the best around

The food is not bad, but the staff are tremendously condescending and it's rather expensive. I'm also not entirely sure I get the cuisine - it seems middle Eastern inspired, but there's a lot of pork.

It was a lovely place for a quick bite for lunch. Tasty food and excellent service.

I really liked the food and the preparation was great. The veggie options were good as well. I was with a friend after a long time and we liked the overall experience.

Had a tasty brunch here, friendly place. My scrambled egg was delicious and I appreciated the plate was warm as I was sat outside. Disappointed the bread wasn't toasted as scrambled egg on untoasted bread isn't a good combination. Good coffee.

Caravan always produces such incredible flavours. So fresh and unusual. With really generous portions. And lovely staff. I ordered vegan so i could share with my friend - who said it's the best vegan food in town - if that is useful info. Otherwise check out the cod dumplings - stunning! Love this place.

Caravan never disappoints!! the shakshouka was so lovely with a depth of flavour - and such a generous portion as well! the vanilla pancakes were so good too. the mocha was one of the better ones i’ve had :)

Leider nicht zu empfehlen, das Frühstück war nicht lecker und auch beim Kaffee müssten sie das Personal nochmals nachschulen. Service war praktisch nicht vorhanden. On top hat man uns nicht über dem Service Charge informiert, sondern erstmal abkassiert, was eine Frechheit ist.

We went there for breakfast, looks a lovely place. The staff were very friendly and the menu very interesting. The food was very tasty but everything was just lukewarm, a table next to us complained about cold food before ours arrived also. It did spoil the meal, I don’t understand how everything that all four of us had was virtually cold. Such a shame.

Victim of its own success On busy times the staff can be stressed and take it out on the customers in that millennial way, either ignoring you, or demeaning you (especially if you are older or off trend in their eyes) with impatient dismissive put downs that no one deserves or expects. Being a long time customer counts for little as the staff turnover seems high, being local counts for nothing. Strange times, there are enough people visiting once to keep it buzzing, but few of them look happy sitting there. Food is fine but I'm tired of giving it the benefit of the doubt and feeling disrespected for being there.

Essen war sehr interessant und eben nicht für Jedermann. Die Schärfe bei den Speisen, wo es nicht dabei stand war da. Ansonsten sehr gut 👍

I love this place. The breakfast is always phenomenal but today I tried lunch... This was absolutely wonderful. Being able to sit outside and soak up the sun whilst lunching was divine. The waiters were wonderful with a smile plastered on their faces with friendly banter and good recommendations on the dishes. 10 out of 10! Can't wait to go back.

I wanted to leave a quick review after we dropped in for lunch, and I had the seasoned rice bowl with crispy tofu - my god. It was so good. Please keep this on the menu! I felt so nourished afterwards. Then, the server brought out the cookbook so we could have a poke through. Just a really nice time, I’ll come back to Exmouth more often now.

This establishment is concerned more with looks than taste. I ordered the breakfast, however the eggs were overdone and the toast was soggy. I got a small amount of ketchup -- like a tablespoon. Then i was charged £20. PLUS a tip -- they didn't ask, they just added it. When you have to pay £20 plus tip for a less than perfect breakfast then something is wrong. Having said that, the food was above average and the service good. This place has a high rating on google. Like supposedly one of the best in the City. i expected more.

Lovely breakfast/brunch place. The food is really good and the menu is very diverse for different tastes and dietary requirements. The prices are okay for the quality of food. We had the baked eggs which was super delicious! Their coffee is also top. Their outdoor seating is also really nice during the summer time. Highly recommended!

Great location and atmosphere, and the fried rice was out of this world. I had no idea it could taste that good, will have to cease my pathetic attempts to cook it at home. The beer was also great and waiters very friendly and helpful. I’ll be back!

After spending a weekend in London, on the last morning, we decided to have breakfast at Caravan Exmouth Market. It was very close to the bus stop, so perfect location for us. The staff greeted and welcomed us, offering to keep our luggage on a side while we're at the table. It was a great experience, lovely and perfectly done poached eggs. I believe they came from a farm, because they were very nutritious and even it looks like a small portion, together with the sourdough bread, it kept us full for a long while. A really cosy and chic place to enjoy a meal.

One my favorite spots at exmouth! Delicious food, good portions and fair price - lots of outdoor seating too! The salmon bowl and baked cod were really yummy - and the masala labneh to start!

Stopped here for breakfast after Googling to see what is near our hotel. It was quite busy outside when we arrived on a very hot Monday morning and I was pleased to find out there were tables inside which was slightly cooler. There is a nice selection on the menu and I opted for the veggie breakfast as I usually don't eat until nearer lunchtime and wanted something not too heavy. It was absolutely delicious. The mushrooms and slow roasted tomatoes were just so juicy and my eggs were cooked perfectly as requested. I contradicted myself by clearing the plate!

Overall, we all know prices have gone up but 6.50 for a smoothie is exaggerated. As a party of 5 we were squashed in a table for 4.

Really wanted to love this place as it is so well positioned for dining outdoors on the main strip. Ordered the meatballs - mint leaves, red peppers, pickled onion, aubergine, lamb, orange, yoghurt, generous splashes of olive oil.. it was very rich and very powerful. I imagine it could be delicious in much much smaller bite-size portions on top of a good square of fluffy pita, but as a small plate, it’s was a very powerful dish. Definitely ask for a serve of bread if you order this 👍 I also had the “traditional” rose at £9 /glass - which was not good at all (only ended up taking a couple of sips). The location is fantastic, just wish I had ordered very differently.

My friend and I were a little disappointed in this visit compared to previous visits, albeit they were over a year ago. Food was ok but only that.... the option to have a drink and table outside is nice to have

Brunch plates were all great. Slightly small portions but quality ingredients and well cooked. Filter coffee was perfect! Service was friendly and helpful.

Really nice breakfast and coffee. Good options and a nice setting. Staff were friendly. Two minor niggles they add a charity donation to the receipt but don’t tell you. I think it’s fine to have this option but you should tell people. I also thought for the price you pay the portions were a bit small. Overall though a nice place.

Cuisine très parfumée et de qualité malgré des prix un peu élevés. Néanmoins nous avons été vraiment très bien accueillis par les serveuses (celle avec des grandes lunettes, très souriante et celle avec les cheveux roses, très gentille !) très sympathiques, malgré notre mauvais niveau d'anglais et notre statut évident de touristes ! Mieux reçus que d'autres établissements du secteurs ! Merci à vous, de votre accueil aux touristes.

I am so glad I booked a table, the place was getting full as we sat and eat our delicious breakfast. The coffee was great cups a bit small so had to get two coffee's with my breakfast. The service was great, the staff very friendly. The food was hot when it came out and if I'm in the area I would go again.

Called in this afternoon, on the hoof...had a lovely mix of small plates...all vegetarian and all seriously tasty, staff were great too, friendly but not in your face...never been there before would recommend highly though

Popped in here for a coffee with a friend. We both had buggies and two babies under 1. It’s not the best place for buggies but I put mine by the window and it seemed to be ok and out the way. Sadly they’d run out of hot chocolate so I had a peanut butter smoothie instead which was ok, but it would have nicer if it were a little thicker and colder. My little one had a babycino which was very generously portioned. I also got him a side of avocado (without the chillies) which was also a decent size and very tasty. There’s some delicious-looking items on the menu and I would love to try the jalapeno cornbread next time. While there’s some sweet things in the menu (pancake stack, yoghurt bowl), there’s not a lot in the way of a quick baked good eg brownie or cookie which my friend was keen for. It’s definitely more of a dining place than a casual coffee and snack. Tip for parents: there is baby change downstairs and I found it in one of the ladies toilets. It was a bit cramped but manageable. Not sure if there’s baby change in the gents. For those with a prolapse or dodgy lower back, just watch going down the stairs with a baby.

Nice breakfast/brunch place on the corner street in Exmouth Market. While the market street was quiet on the Sunday we visited, this cafe was vibrant and busy inside. There’s good selection of breakfast and brunch options on their menu and we had the pancakes and the chorizo with potatoes, poached eggs and spinach and both were delicious. Their coffee was really nice too.

Incredibly rude staff - young blonde guy rolling his eyes directly infront of me because my girlfriend was in his way - due entirely to their chaotic queuing system which begins immediately inside the door. When told he could say ‘excuse me’ next time it was met with his passive aggressive response rather than an apology. He needs to learn some basic manners if he chooses to work in a customer facing role. Went here to spend £60-70 on coffee beans on top of the cost of a brunch, but decided to leave after this. Went to Gail’s down the road- great service and friendly staff.

We had small plates so had a range of items. The seeded tofu was amazing. Went for breakfast the next day too and really enjoyed it. The service was friendly and felt genuine.

The coffee is lovely. And the food is also really good. There were blankets when we sat outside. As feedback: I would reduce the amount of kale it was very chewing.

recipes where there is a clear attempt to be original (by experimenting with different ingredients, herbs and spices) but the result is a rather “disharmonious” taste. Many dishes overloaded with coriander even where you wouldn’t expect it (never knew that Mediterranean cuisine used coriander, and in such abundance) and some rather weird combination of flavours (mussels served with a puree of broad beans ? ) . I wouldn’t call this place Mediterranean nor middle-eastern restaurant at all. It is a sort of fusion cuisine where the combination of flavours is totally discordant. Not appealing, sorry.

Really like this place, very buzzy and quick service. Food was great as well. Special mention for the 2 serving staff we spoke to - friendly and chatty. Would go again.

I love caravan and have been to various branches. Exmouth market is the worst lay out and ambience. The tables are cramped and gives the restaurant a crowded feel. On top of this the music is extremely loud. Not quite the relaxing atmosphere I am used to. The food was great as always, but I’d choose a different branch next time.
