We had such a lovely Saturday afternoon coffee and cake at Carafe. The staff are very friendly and smiley. The atmosphere is so relaxing- they had some great chilled jazz tunes on. The flat white and earl grey we had were both high quality and the bakewell we shared was so delicious. Good prices and plenty of space. Would definitely go back.

Hidden away, but well worth searching out. Recommended.

Top notch coffee, that goes for regular and decaffeinated. The staff are so friendly and the service a firm 5 stars. We have yet to try eating here as it all looks delicious. The ambiance is chilled with gentle music playing in the background. If we hadn’t just had lunch, we would have eaten here. This place is a hidden gem in Lewes, just up from the station on the left. Highly recommend from Lavender Theatre!

Fantastic coffee and very friendly staff!

This is by far the best coffee cafe in Lewes. The lovely people who run this place put a love of love and attention into their food and hospitality. They roast their own beans and have very high quality coffee drinks as well as matcha and chai lattes. I go here several times per week as part of my dog walk. Everyone is friendly and really care about the customer experience. Highly recommend.

Be careful, a dog attack happened here, dog size is about 4 times bigger than your child. Place is crowded, safer to avoid busy times.

My baby was biten by a dog here. The dog owner must see the pushchair and baby whilst coming the most inner corner with her dangerous dog. During an ambulance call they didnt tell the postcode, repeating the question 5 times. It is required by the law, take control of this, it not just profit things letting in dogs there. I am very sad reading this comment, as current approach shout for improvement. A life long mark on the body and a childhood trauma is a serious thing, doesnt matter how we call that, and how belittling comments try to pretend this as "never happened" incident.

This is a pleasant cafe with a great choice of coffee. The ambiance is comfortable , and the choice of snacks is excellent.

Found this gem of a coffee shop!! Definitely a much needed and nice addition to Lewes. Too many high branded coffee shops take over towns but this one was perfect. Nice drinks and cakes. Will become a regular when we visit Lewes for sure

We stumbled across this hidden gem on a trip to Lewes whilst on holiday. It’s dog friendly and the both the service and welcome from the staff was excellent. It’s very clean and well laid out, a nice amount of room between tables which catered for larger or smaller groups. Super coffee, delicious cakes and even a toasted tea cake… for us Northerners that swung it!

Best coffee house in Lewes. Drinks are delicious, as is the food. Staff friendly and cheerful. Nicely tucked away down the hill, so not on the main drag.

I was mainly in Lewes on a Monday, when it turned out Carafe is shut. I had my coffee and cake fix instead in Vega Cafe, opposite the castle. They don't seem to be on Tripadvisor, but were top notch. So when I finally got to visit Carafe before I left town the next day, they were up against it--in my coffee-loving brain--to compete. But, oh my, they delivered! A friendly, camp, foreign barista served me a terrific black Americano and a tusty chunk of toffee-apple cake so huge I had to have a second coffee to help see it off. So Carafe lived up to its stellar reputation. To be fair, Vega Cafe was equally good; so hats off to Lewes for coffee shops. I call a draw (Vega bonus for opening Mondays; Carafe bonus for sunnier staff). Well happy.

Carafe is a really good spot for a quiet coffee and snack in Lewes. The shape of the space and the big window onto the street make it perfect for daydreaming and trying to work at the same time, which I do with my laptop in Carafe quite frequently! The team that work there are genuinely friendly and the coffee is really superb.

After a week of some truly awful coffee in Northern France was a relief to find Carafe just a short drive from the ferry. Shoreditch surroundings, musically chilled vibe, with lovely friendly staff and a great robust roast coffee. We also had a couple of excellent (falafel and prosciutto) panninis. This is it.

Stumbled across this lovely coffee shop that’s down a side street near the railway station.Great choice of coffees, chai lattes frappes etc cakes and savouries. My coffee was lovely could really taste the coffee, service was good and lovely mellow jazz on in the background perfect!

Absolutely loved this café! Wonderful deserts and coffee with lovely people working there. The interior is also very pleasant. If we visit Lewes again, we will visit you again for sure!

Chic and stylish - which might matter more than the coffee ( they roast their own! ) But the coffee is good, the chai lattes were suberb and the cakes and pastries were very tempting. Friendly service tops off a very good stopover.

I was photographing a wedding nearby and ran in for coffee. I never remember to eat before work and was only in for an espresso but decided to be nice to myself and pick up a bagel and I am SO GRATEFUL because it was honestly very memorable. This might sound over the top for a smoked salmon bagel but it was honestly perfect. Faultless. Thank you.

As a couple of Aussies who've been touring England and Scotland for six weeks, this is the best coffee we've had. Reminds us of our favourites at home. So good we had to return for an afternoon partaking following our morning coffee ritual. The tea and cake was just as perfect as the faultless coffee. Very happy customers!

Really delcious sandwiches and lovely coffee. This place is brilliant, really nicely decorated, a pleasant and busy atmosphere and lovely waiting staff. We ordered a pastrami sandwich, a frappe and cappuccino, and everything was amazing. The frappe, in particular, was a real cheeky morning treat!

First time visiting yesterday and will definately be coming back! Super friendly team, amazing choices of drinks, food and cakes! The coffee itself is one of the best i've tried, super smooth and bold flavour, not bitter! I also had matcha and chai! The milk was steamed to perfection, super silky smooth and nice and hot!

Expensive coffee, especially compared to other nearby coffee shops, regular size takeaway is v small and was a bit on the cold side. Nice place, staff and atmosphere however and probably would return.

I adore Carafe. Found it one morning a few months ago now when I had some time to kill before a morning shift at my workplace nearby and needed something to wake me up. From my first visit I've loved it- the aesthetics and layout are not only very pleasing to look at, but are clean and well spaced. The atmosphere is so friendly it feels like home, and the ambience is unmatched. And the coffee is always stunning- I'm a huge fan of iced coffees and I would say Carafe serves the best I've sampled personally. The food on offer is lovely- and the array of vegan and veggie options is amazing (both food options and milk options!). And all this is without even mentioning the staff and owners, who are all just the kindest and really make me feel at home. I look forward to popping in before my opening shifts if I can; one- for the lovely coffee, and two- for the lovely people. I can't recommend this place enough. I will be visiting again. And again. And, probably, again. :)

Love discovering new places in my home town: Carafe Coffee Roasters in Lewes ☕ I've just had the best coffee in the last few months: a perfectly brewed and prepared coffee in the style I love it: Café allongé, the French version of the coffee: longer than the Italian espresso, shorter than the Americano, still strong and aromatic. (It is actually espresso that has been pulled a bit longer than a regular espresso.) I'll have to ask next time about the provenience of the coffee beans as I'm not that fussy with my coffee as I'm with my wines, but it definitely add the right kick and taste to my day. Oh.... and the almond croissant, so damn delicious and crispy! And the service.... so knowledgeable and welcoming! Love this spot! 👌

Just off the High Street means it is less busy and has a calm atmosphere. The cakes look fantastic if you want to enjoy a little something extra.

First time I've ever been and I must say the service was outstanding

The best cup of cappuccino ever. So good had to have two. My friend had Latte and he also had two. Brought some beans home with me to carry on have this fantastic coffee. The staff were very friendly and super helpful. If you are in Lewes and a coffee drinker this is the place to go. You will not be disappointed.

Best capperchino ever. On weekend break from Northumberland and found this fantastic coffee shop. Had to take some beans home as they tasted fantastic. Shame they did not do mail order. If in Lewes you must visit this coffee shop. It's the best.

A really nice place, with a good selection of well priced, tasty looking food and importantly, a smooth, delicious brew. The decaf oataccino had remarkable flavour.

My fiancé and I visited this coffee shop whilst on a visit to Lewes in around 2018 - we got a light snack with a frappe (one of the best frappes we've ever had) We visited a year later and the owner remembered us from the time before - we thought it was so lovely. We visit once or twice a year, as we aren't locals to the town, but always receive a warm welcome and a quick brief chat. The coffees are great, we even bought coffee beans from there. Their snacks are also really good. I would highly recommend visiting if you're nearby :)

What a joy to come across people that understand coffee. These days being a barista so often means that you were shown the coffee machine. These people know what they are doing. The results are in the excellent products they serve. The place is really nice too and they are very friendly.

A lovely stop off on our south downs bike ride, the vegan sausage roll and strawberry milkshake was delicious and the surroundings had an industrial vibe with relaxing music. Would definitely recommend and return!

Found this place on a rainy Sunday coming off the train. Good coffee. As an Aussies we are still getting used to the nuances of ordering something close to a piccolo but we’re getting close. Here it s a smallish Cortardo ;-) Slice of cake (spiced apple and sultana) was also nice.

Stopped off here for a break from a meeting at the nearby town hall. The staff were very friendly. I had a vegan falafel foccaica sandwich and an americano. The sandwich was so delicious and fresh. The bread must have been baked that morning, it...

I love the mocha latte made to my requirements. Cant wait to sit in again but take away will do till then
