My aunt visited here and despite requesting a small portion of chips, she was served a large one instead, which was disappointing. The price of £8.50 for the meal seemed steep considering the mix-up. Additionally, the fish she ordered was cold, although the batter was warm, raising concerns about its freshness. She found the staff to be unprofessional.

Great place for a decent meal. Breakfast, lunch or dinner. Very reasonably priced for some huge portion sizes.. Friendly staff.

Ordered online via Uber eats - 2 hour wait for delivery when I was told 45-60 minutes. When food did eventually arrive after 2 phone calls to the restaurant the order was not what I had ordered- it was completely messed up. Also the chips arrived in soaking wet packaging and they were cold. I have messaged the restaurant with my issues and 4 days later they have still not responded. I can promise I will not be back.

Lovely wee cafe restaurant with a extensive menu at a reasonable price. The lady that served us was very warm and welcoming. The food was nice and were good sized portions. Sorry no photos was too hungry.

Extremely long wait times. 2 hours + for delivery and up to 1 hour for collection. Ordered food last night, no roast potatoes which was fine so they said they would add additional mash. I agreed that was OK. Went to collect my order. Wasn't ready after 30 mins, had to wait an additional 10 mins. Food was rotten, must have easily used half a tin of peas with most of the water still not drained properly. Chicken certainly wasn't a breast, have no hesitation it was frozen. Oh and to top that, when collecting it they told me they had no mash! So just give chips instead. Would of been nice to have been told this when ordering but just assuming people will be OK with what they are substituting the food with is just rude! Parts of order also missing. Love this place, good home cooked food, good prices and food always delicious

Looks like a chip shop but they have everything from sandwich, soup , breakfast to roast dinner. We had fish and chip and roast beef dinner. Fish had crispy batter with flaky fish inside, chips were perfect. Roast dinner, even veggies were well seasoned. In house baker of brownies, we received a bowl full of free samples. The staff are a bunch of the nicest and gorgeous looking girls.. so down to earth. If I had a restaurant, I would like to have staff like that. Food was so good, I couldn't stop eating for photo shoot. Sorry.

I used to use the app to order their food they have messed up my order a lot of the time. Even though its written down on the app don't know how they manage that. But I still used them because the prices were decent. I tried to order today but the app was down and told me to call the store. So I did, placed my order and was told it would be an hour. Fair enough happy to wait, it arrived and had a four pounds extra charge on it. I was confused thinking they now do extra delivery charges since normally it's free. They told me they charge four pounds for phone orders. Four pounds to call when it was their app that was down. I'm shocked I've never heard of a phone call charge for a business. It's apparently to encourage people to use the app which was down. No offer of a refund just a sorry. If your app isn't working how can I use it? They've lost a customer who used them once a week for over a year now. Won't be using them again.

This is probably one of the tastiest cafés I've been in while visiting Banbridge. My wife had an omelette that was 1st class and I had the dirty Fries which is probably the tastiest food I've ever had. And portions are massive. Well worth the money and visit. First Class

I would give Captain Cooks 6 stars if I could. The service was beyond excellent. The food and portions were huge. I highly recommend them to anyone!!

First time visiting today while passing through the area, food was amazing with such a great selection to choose from, first class service and staff couldn’t have been nicer. Highly recommend.

Ordered food online tonight from captain cooks. We have never had food from there before. My husband ordered a smurf burger with no taco sauce and I ordered a fish supper and we asked for an extra chip. The fish was completely burnt and rock hard. The burger came with the sauce he didn't want and a big pile of coleslaw in it which he didn't ask for. After scraping all this stuff off the burger was still rotten. Also instead of getting the extra chip we paid for, they just put some extra chips in one of the bags instead. Worst chippy we have ever had. Really hate paying money for burnt and disgusting food and it wasn't cheap. £10 for burnt fish is a disgrace. We will never be back and will tell everyone we know to stay clear. Ruined our evening and we both feel ill after eating the small amount that we ate.

Place clean and tidy, fair prices, in fact great value prices when you see the size of their delicious loaded fries!😋 Breakfasts are all day and also superb. Loved the place 30 years ago when I worked in Banbridge. It's still tops 👌

First time going. Very quick service and lovely ladies who work there are very helpful and friendly. Food was delicious too

Food overall was good with the exception of the fish. The batter had that slightly overused burnt taste to it that.

Food is lovely just make sure you order a couple of days in advance. Very very slow waited 45 minutes on a local delivery then rang to see how much longer to be told another half hour

The staff are so calm and Collected, they are so friendly and make the atmosphere 100X lighter. Food is amazing, 10/10, would recommend the beef and bird and the bacon burger, two of my favourites. compliments to the chefs and front of the shop staff. Major tips incoming! ⭐ 🍽️🥩

Was in Captain Cooks yesterday with my husband we have been before and were always very happy with the food. But yesterday was a complete disaster. I had a fish never tasted worse my Hubby had egg bacon and chips hard fried egg , which was fried in dirty gravy. It was very busy but no excuse for inedible food. The waitress was very nice and did not charge fot the fish. Not good enough as we had travelled from our own town to eat here. Awful

Hard to believe it is a year since my last review and then I also got a soup. Today it was pea and ham accompanied by warm wheaten bread and iced water. Satisfying as usual. I ordered a small (2 oz), burger but it seemed bigger when I got it. Topped with fried onions and I added ketchup The tables are a bit close so if it's busy it gets no privacy. I had three woman and a gent come in and sit in front of me. The youngest gent never shut up talking. Even when he twas eating his burger. I got a sore head listening to him. The soup and burger came to some £8.00 sterling. So as I thought I was charged for a 4oz burger. Waitress taking money said they don't do a smaller burger anymore. But I am not unconvinced about that. The food was good. Prices have risen so much it makes it expensive for my two items. Still I recommend it and will be back.

Busy about 5 pm Friday. Veg broth and wheaten bread. Around four pounds hits the spot. Recommended. For a dinner or a snack it is a good spot. Closes. Monday only. Good delivery trade.

Fantastic breakfast batch...just need to say sorry to the delivery driver as he ran out of the garden due to the dogs running down the stairs. I will definitely order from here again,just looking at the menu for lunch!!!

Good food, friendly staff and excellent service

Always good for a snack or bigger meal. I tend to just order smaller meals. This time I ordered a sausage soda. (Only available in Northern Ireland) and tea as well as iced water. The sausage soda came very quick and was great. Non greasy and well done. Washed down by tea and water. At £5.40 ish it was value and filling. Each time I received decent grub and friendly service from staff and owners. Fully recommended.

Met up with a friend for Brunch and was delighted with the meal. I ordered the poached eggs. The eggs were beautiful and really fresh and tasty. Would highly recommend.

Stopped into captain cooks with a few family members today after a very busy day, as of entering the building the staff were so welcoming and had drink orders taken then after a quick meal decision the order was taken. Our food took only 10-15 which was extremely good considering the fact I personally ordered the roast beef dinner. The meal was to perfection, the roast beef practically melted in my mouth! The mash and roast potatoes were so creamy and fluffy and the carrots and broccoli weren't too soft nor too hard, just right. The gravy coating my whole meal was so rich and exploded with flavour! I cannot point out a single flaw with this meal! Every time I walk through the doors into captain cooks I know I'm in for a treat. The staff was so kind and generous and beautifully well mannered. My meal was so huge that it just about flitted on my plate! I was shocked by how good it looked and how much there was! I had finished half the meal and was stuffed but it was too good to leave so I gladly brought it home! The meal was so huge for a brilliant price! 5 stars all round!

Always find the food consistent. My last two visits,I got two small burgers and they were tasty and better than the large ones costing around £5.00. Next time I asked for a well done sweet curry chip. I like the spicy sweet sultana flavour. Place is always clean and staff friendly. Lovely cakes and desert treats. Best chippy/cafe in Banbridge. Recommended.

Very poor. Blonde, fried looking hair in food. I tipped for service, unknowing about the hair. Regardless, the substantial tip I left was picked up and pocketed by an older man, not wearing a uniform. I assume the manager. Don’t recommend.

As a carry out now they do a mean sausage soda at £3.00. Again I had no brekky and got a sausage soda. Warm and filling,loaded with ketchup. So satisfying. They have a reasonable menu. I love the sweet curry chips. Recommended.

Been a while since I caller here. So after fasting for a hospital scan I was hungry and it came to my mind,if only for a take away due to covid. I ordered a sausage soda,a local Northern Irish favourite and a tea for collection. I called in about 10 minutes and it was just about ready. The soda was fresh and non greasy with lots of ketchup on the sausages. And hot tea. It was very nice and I was hungry. Captain Cooks is a clean place with a menu to suit most. I recommend it fully.

We have just had within the last1/2 hour had 2 Sunday dinners delivered and it was hot and well put together tasted beautiful was on a par with 4 star hotels we stay in will be ordering again.

Good menu tables well spaced out

Food was great, actually is so good that we forgot we had to wait for 28 minutes (the only downside we found). Don't know if it was the time we went, but you may wait quite a bit. 4 stars because the food made it worth, loads of flavour, good portion we did really enjoy it.

So disappointed the dinner was dried up no gravy and the roulade dessert was so thin and tiny you could barely see it in the container as a baker i know a slice from a sliver tried wont buy again.

Came here on Sunday based on good reviews as our usual fish and chip shop hadn’t opened yet. I ordered fish supper and my friend had fish cod bite and chips. The chips were disgusting and couldn’t eat them. The fish didn’t taste very fresh and is apparently organic (so we were told). The oil it was fried in left a strange chemical aftertaste in the mouth. I was absolutely starved so I ate the fish even though it literally left a horrible taste in my mouth afterwards. My friend left most of hers too. Sorry to leave a bad review but this food quality was terrible and as I use trip advisor a lot I would like it to be reflective of genuine dining experiences. Though I will say guy serving us was very nice which is why we didn’t want to make a fuss complaining when we were there so we just paid the bill and left

We arrived at lunchtime on a Sunday, 4 adults and 2 children, the menu is extensive, from fry’s to roast dinners and everything in between, staff are friendly, the place is spotless, and the portions are more than generous for the price, the food was cooked to perfection, and it was clean plates all round, we would definitely recommend

This little cafe is not your average “chip place”. Yes they serve excellent restaurant style chips, burgers etc but also coffee-shop style teas, coffees, homemade fabulous desserts, ice-creams and a fabulous little range of salads!!!The inclusion of Mexican and Italian dishes, makes this a family favourite that is very affordable! Tips:Their special homemade potato salad is a recipe I would love to have at home!!!!! Any chicken dish is Captain Cooks at its very best! Check out the massive homemade scones! Chips are hand cut - not frozen seconds! Check out their cinema deals - especially for teens!!!

As it is open to 9pm It is good for late evening meal. Menu limited but food is always quite good. Nice ice cream. Staff usually friendly. Clean place and service and delivery acceptable. Price reasonable. My favourite is curry chip with chicken goujons.
