Fantastic place. The range of vegan food is amazing, and all cooked separately! I've been waiting for a food vegan chippy for 5 years and this was everything I dreamed it would be. Mushy pea bomb - unbelieveably good, Linda's sausages are amazing and from now on I will be deep frying and battering them! Seasoned tofu gorgeous but it is what you'd imagine, and the soya fish is a great substitute too! Lovely service too, 5 stars definitely! Thankyou for making the effort to cater to everyone, it is very much appreciated. 😁

Just bit of a let down lately 😕 I'll try once more just in case I've had bad meal

Been here a few times however not great service last night orderd for 6:30 were waiting 30 mins after the order time when the order was ready. Also seemed to have been quicker of you had not ordered online. Would recommend that the order system has a stop at a certain number of orders of the can't cope with the volume of customers putting orders in. Food was also abit greasy as well after coming here for some time think I may be trying somewhere else in future.

The food from here is delicious . One of the best in Scarborough. I pre-ordered with their direct online ordering system and collected at the arranged time. It was freshly cooked , piping hot and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thick fish, crispy batter, and the peas are yummy 😋

Had fish from here before but today 23/9/23 very dry, poor batter and not much flavour, the mushy peas weren't particularly hot.

The mushy peas bombs are amazing. Was so happy to get gluten free fish and chips for my daughter, and veggie chips for me. Husband and children very much enjoyed the normal fish and chips. Highly recommended!

Found this on Google as someone had recommended they do gluten free fish and chips. We went to Scarborough for day and talking to a local lady she confirmed this place was lovely. Oh my word the food was delicious smelt lovely and tasted yummy.. So nice to have gluten rree fish and chips 🍟 you will not be disappointed staff were lovely and friendly. Highly recommend

There was quite a long queue at the shop, so it took a little longer to get our food than you would generally expect to wait for fish and chips. I understand why the queue was so long, and it's because the food is excellent. My wife has a gluten intolerantance, and this place has a reputation for having good gluten-free choices, which is why we visited. My wife had gluten-free batered cod and a fish cake, and they were both excellent. She says they are the best she has ever tasted, I tried the fish cake, and it was delicious.

Myself and my wife called in after leaving Scarborough without being able to find gluten free fish and chips. It's not too far out of town but quite difficult to park. We were in a motorhome so had to park on the double yellows outside. The service was excellent. The fish and chips were gorgeous. Gluten free batter cooked separately from other items with gluten. Fantastic news for all gluten intolerant fish n chip lovers.. This will now be our regular haunt for the fish and chips as we leave town..

Had a lunchtime special fish and chips, really nice. Some of the best fish and chips in Scarborough, better than the seafront shops.

Just picked up tea for myself and my kids. Had to throw them all away. Chips were raw, fish and sausage were extremely greasy. First time trying Capplemans and will not go back again.

We came here for the gluten free option. The sausages gluten free were really nice but unfortunately the potatoes served with were very grease. I had a normal fish without chips and it was very bad very grease. The oil was coming out from the box. I had it stuck in my stomach for 2 days. The staff was very friendly can't complain. I give the 4 stars only for the sausages.

Great to find a place that seems to really take dietary restrictions seriously. They have a separate fryer and gluten free batter, and also package GF orders separately. They have GF gravy, curry, beans options also. Fish (Haddock/Cod), sausage and battered sausage could all be GF. Service was good. The price wasn't bad (small, medium and large options) and the meals we had tasted fantastic. The fish was especially delicious. Definitely recommend.

Pleased to see there was a chippy in Scarborough offering vegan food and it didn't disappoint. We had the vegan fish, tofu and chips and it was fab. Great value, too. Will definitely visit again when back in the area!

Really good fish and chips, plenty of options including gluten free, which was brilliant given I’m intolerant! Well worth a visit and we will return if ever back in the area.

Ordered homemade fish cakes and chips, the fish cake were so small and definitely not worth the money and didn’t taste great and as for the chips they looked and tasted old!! What a waste of money! I couldn’t eat any of it. I won’t be returning any time soon.

Vegan - Food from this chip shop is amazing. The food is always amazing. Ordering online for collection is really easy and my food is always ready right on time. The vegan food is always in a separate bag with a sticker. I can’t express how much I love the food from here.

The best fish and chips! Fish is always fresh and flaky. The spicy curry sauce is amazing. They also offer vegan and gluten free options 👌🏻 Would highly recommend.

Excellent fish and chips , quick service and friendly staff

My vegan partner and I ordered the fish and chips with side for collection, never had it before though had heard wondrous things. Pleased to say it was very tasty and the battered vegan fish was incredible, a proper treat, vegans need not feel left out in Scarborough :) Also a great price too.

The fish I received this evening was the bitterest most aw full fish I have ever had ,wasted the whole meal. worth noting more expensive than most other local fish and chip shops. Won't be going again .

Delicious fish and chips a very happy family and especially with one option glutenfree the whole family was extra happy. Convenient pick up was great too.

Have been enjoying fish and chips from Capplemans for over 50 years, and bought three regular fish and chips today as a treat for our family. The after-taste was fatty, the haddock was small, £5 sized at £8.80 prices.

Being a fish & chips connoisseur from South Yorkshire, I can testify that these are quite potentially the best fish & chips (F&C) I've ever had... having being diagnosed with a severe wheat allergy two years ago, I have delved into the world of gluten free F&C. I can safely say the majority are absolute garbage. However, Cappleman's is something special.

Ordered online, given a time to pick-up. It did say possibility of slightly later than given time if busy, but stood in the cold waiting 25 minutes after given Time !!!! They always seem to give shorter than actual time ready but 25 minutes !! How many food places promise short waiting times but in reality never come close !! Once they have your money they got you 🤔

What a find! Loads of vegan options, all cooked separately. Lovely food, good value and all served in decent enviro-friendly takeout containers instead of that polystyrene rubbish. Even in these times it's hard to find a place that does it all properly. Thoroughly recommend, especially if you're vegan or vegetarian.

Great choice on the menu, fantastic that they do gluten free, even the vinegar s GF! Had cod and chips, the batter was lovely and crispy, chips cooked to perfection, very nice curry sauce and good size portions. Great value, great quality.

The Fish and chips were lovely. I was left a little disappointed by the portion size of the chips as I ordered large and for £3.50 I expected more. Once again the taste was delicious.

They missed the peas off on one of our orders bug we didn't notice until we got back to where we was staying

Ordered online for collection. Collection time stated 20 mins. We were stood in the shop for a further 20 minutes upon arrival. People were ordering and leaving with the same order as ours ! When we spoke up . We were told it wouldn’t be long. Eventually one of the staff said something then suddenly they all started rushing . They obviously forgot my order …their was no apology or explanation…why have an online order option if the staff merely overlook it . Food was nice but the service this time was quite disappointing for me .. If I had received an apology or explanation maybe I wouldn’t be so irritated. Staff were so ignorant.

An excellent Fish and Chip shop tucked away from Scarborough town centre. Great Vegan offerings. We had the Tofu fish and chips, which was amazing. The big chunky chips were perfectly cooked and the tofu was very convincing as fish. A really good price as well. Definitely recommend and worth the walk from the town centre. Will go again.

The fish was a little bit dry for myself but my partner loved them

We went here because we're holiday makers and we'd heard how good they were but my daughter and fiance and 3 children got served, myself self and my husband got served but when it came to my son and his wife and 3 young children they said sorry we can't serve you we have too much back log my daughter in law explained all 3 families were together but they wouldn't budge how can you turn people away with children shocking

Absolutely wonderful vegan options including deep fried tofu, vegan fishfingers, battered vegan sausage and mushy pea bombs. It was easy to phone our order through and we were told to collect in 20 minutes. When we arrived our order was ready with no waiting time and all piping hot. There are two reasons I’m dropping a star. Firstly, it was difficult to park near the chippy, which can make collection difficult. Also when I called I asked the staff member how big the chip portions were. I didn’t think this was a particularly difficult question, as I’m used to chips wrapped in paper that would feed a couple of people. She seemed very vague and I asked if the chips portions were big enough for one person and she said it depends on the person…not very helpful! No idea why she couldn’t have explained that the chips come in a carton rather than wrapped in paper. It would have helped me to plan my order better. The amount of chips for the price paid was small. However, everything tasted absolutely amazing and I would definitely use this chippy again when I’m in the area.

Amazing that a small chippy can have such great vegan options, others could well follow suit! Massive portions of chips and the tofu fish was lively, the batter definitely to die for. A must re-visit next time we're in Scarborough.

Wow! What a find! We recently found this fish and chip shop by searching for gluten free fish and chips whilst on holiday in the area.. Anyone who is gluten free will understand that there are few treats which are quite often unavailable, but not here! Extensive choice of gluten free dishes and all cooked in a separate fryer and packaged carefully with a G F sticker so as to be quite clear. All three things chosen were delicious. My husband who had 'normal' haddock said that that too was the best piece of fish he had eaten in a long time. All round excellence. It was so good that we had a second meal before heading back to Devon. Thank you to everyone involved in this business.

Hand's down the best gluten free fish & chips I've had! The haddock was succulent and sweet, the batter was very light and crisp, honestly delicious, and the chips were perfect. I couldn't ask for better! 😊

Absolutely the best fish and chips, anywhere on the planet!! The sea bass was just amazing! Prices were unbelievably cheap. They have a large gluten free menu which is a rareity. Online ordering is very easy. Worth travelling from Hull to buy their produce.

We've been to a few chip shops in scarborough and this is by far the best we have had. We never go anywhere else and ordering and paying online makes it all much easier.

Bought haddock and chips last night. The fish was poor tough and dry and the batter was soggy, so disappointing as we have always been pleased with quality etc.

I brought a sausage and chips from capplemans after an hour and half I was throwing up and getting really dizzy so I went to complain after being really ill all day yesterday and one of the owners started giving me all of it and just bad customer service it’s very sad to be honest with you all
