Capital House in South Lanarkshire

The food is by far the best Chinese in Lanark. They have just renovated the seating area. I've not been into this part yet. Mostly takeaway but prior to renovations would go in for a business lunch. Service is quick, and food is always really hot. Staff are friendly.

To be fair it was a Monday night and we were the only ones dining in, it was a wee bit chilly. But the service and food was excellent

We stay at New Lanark quite often. This time tho we could only book B+B so decided to 'eat out'. We fancied Chinese food so went along to the Capital House. Both of us really enjoyed our food. Must say, it was absolutely delicious. The service was fast & efficient too. Where it greatly disappointed was it completely lacked any atmosphere or ambience. It's usually a treat for us to eat out, but to be honest, it felt more just like a takeaway with waiting tables & chairs, rather than a nice restaurant. Definetely wouldn't recommend it for a special occasion or romantic meal for two! The lights were full on bright, no music playing, and a group of young people (incl a baby) yapping noisily & constantly all around us. These younger people were either servers, desk staff or just eat/delivery guys. It all seemed VERY unprofessional. They were just lounging about at other restaurant tables/chairs talking. We'll never return for a 'sit in' meal again, but would certainly use for 'carry out. Felt a bit cheated being charged 'dine in' prices tho! Compliments to the chef. You are THE only reason we'd ever return here.

Capital House has been around in Lanark for many years,used to be my go to for Chinese,took a long break but am enjoying being back, the Chicken Jong Bau is decent, never have to wait too long and the food is consistently good. Portion size is good, prices keep rising but thats what a cost of living crisis does, havent noticed much if any shrinkflation. Averaging a visit once a week so the Capital House must be doing something right to keep me keen, Chicken Kung Po also decent as is the Special fried rice.

I have been visiting this establishment for many many years, they are such nice people and food is delicious, will continue to visit.

This was by far the best Chineese around for about 15yr ish but the past six years ish it’s became hit or a miss. I think they must have two chefs one good and one not so good. Sometimes it’s great and sometimes it’s inedible. Sometimes the fried rice has spring onions and sometimes did doesn’t. Sometimes the lemon chicken is lovely and sometimes it’s dried up and horrible. I’ve heard a few people that have the two chef theory and I suggest they work which one isn’t up to scratch and get rid of them before they loose business. I am not sure how basic things are not consistent in the same restaurant. Such a shame as you were constantly brilliant!

A nice tasty meal only had takeaway but service was friendly

Nice place, good friendly service. Opted for chicken noodle soup, nice. Chicken and tomato with fried rice. Rice was way too soft, and chicken and tomato was very strong and swimming in sauce, too much

This is my goto Chinese Takeaway. Food is good (can be a wee bit salty sometimes) I would recommend meat spring rolls. No1 Chinese in Lanark!!!

Staying with family in Lanark and we ordered a takeaway from here wow is all I can say lovely food the curry I had was excellent and a very reasonable price I will be back

Food was not the best, way too many onions and very greasey curry. Should have been called onion curry, not chicken curry. All 4 meals were bad, so just wasn't the curry I am afraid. Has got a good reputation though, but we won't be back sorry.

Capital house restaurant has been great during this lockdown period. Food is always tasty and plentiful and the staff are brilliant. Delivery staff always cheerful even when the weather is not so great. Can't fault it. Capital House - Recommended 👍🏻

This used to be the best place to get Chinese food in Lanark. Unfortunately since coming under new management the food has gone downhill, far too much salt, and I've tried repeatedly to get through to order but no one answers. So after 14 years I'm going elsewhere 😔

Decided to give it a try. Sadly disappointed. BBQ ribs just about warm sweet and sour tasted like it was out of a jar. I would go back but only in nothing else was open

Food sometimes very good , other times very poor

Disgusted, waited 2 1/2 hrs for meal to arrive, no compensation, delivery driver upset at the service, actually said they are taking Pick up takeaways priority and delivery are put to back of the orders, since Michael isn't running that place its gone downhill, also booked rice looked as if it had been prepacked in container hours before as it was just a solid mass that came out, could have made better myself

Not using this restaurant again. Got our order wrong - it took 10 mins just to order on phone and then after an hour and a half of it not arriving we called to be told that it wasn't even cooked yet and could be another hour. Cancelled and went elsewhere. Shame, used to be much better service.

We been order from this restaurant over 20 years from grandma to our generations. We are quite disappointed for their attitude and services lately. They have put the price up twice in a year and the portions is still small. I have phone up and complaint to the guy but he just ignore it.The portions of meals is smaller and the price is more expensive if compare to local Chinese takeaway china chef and plum orchard. I will defo not come back.

Called tonight ordered a beef curry was absolutely shocked to discover their takeaway Curry's come in the small fried rice container this order was for 2 adults to share at work and was £6.20 excluding rice I immediately called the restaurant to be told if I wanted a bigger curry I would have to ask and be charged extra I queried why this is not stated on their menu as a result of this I will not be giving this restaurant anymore business....poor poor show capital house!!!!

Absolutely awful take away last night. The black bean sauce was like burnt gravy. No real flavour. Disgusting.

Nice food served by pleasant staff, in a clean environment. The lunch special seems to attract a regular client group and is reasonably priced. There is busy on street parking, and there are car parks within walking distance.

I would give it another star if they made fresh chips every time. Reheated chips are such a letdown

G8t historical town has plenty store's and restaurants and bars New Lanark is g8t for a walk with the falls of Clyde and museum

I started going there because the food was excellent and portions good. I am afraid the portion’s size have now shrunk notably. Considering this, I am not sure if this is still a viable place for a good takeaway.

It looks a bit of a mess from the outside, and the sign is hanging off. The interior is clean enough, but is old, shabby and in desperate. need of a facelift. Despite this, the food is great and it's popular with locals. We will definitely return.

Brilliant take a way great staff and great food

Went for a takeaway and purchased a special fried rice, there was certainly nothing special about it. Chicken was dry and looked like it had been scraped off an old chicken carcass left from a previous meal from a couple of days back. The rice was dry and tasteless and I presume it had been reheated several times!

Love this place for take away and sitting in meals too. Food is consistently brilliant and the table service is also excellent. Been coming here for many years now and will continue to do so. Highly recommended!

Decided to dine here before going to a small concert, we arrived just after 6, main course was good but at 7pm we ordered desert (1 ice cream with wafer and portion of banana fritters), we thought 10mins max as we had to be at Memorial Hall for 7.30 start......20mins later we had to ask and when it eventually arrived, no wafer and banana fritter was undercooked! Didn't have time to complain, just won't be back.....not an enjoyable experience at all.

Do not by pass this Chinese if visiting Lanark or looking for a great tasting Chinese meal ., service is quick and friendly food is great and prices are reasonable

Cheap set meals and OK Chinese food

It’s a takeaway Chinese restaurant which is really busy and food is ok for that, but sitting in the freezing cold next to a phone operator constantly taking orders, ain’t a good place to sit and eat. You can pay takeaway price and eat at home and enjoy the food better.

Went tonight at 640pm with my sister, place empty except 1 large table set for 17 and 2 tables of 2 empty, we were told they couldn’t fit us in as large table due in and chef couldn’t cope with more, we waited outside for over 20 mins and the large table had still not arrived, we could have been eating our main by this time, alaways liked this place and have been going for many many years, will never go back after this

Another great meal at Capital House in Lanark, busy environment but service was very quick and food was usual excellent standard.

Have enjoyed pre theatre dinner many times-menu has good choice and at £8.50 for 2 courses a bargain. Large portions and great tastes. Friendly service too! Only downside - decor a bit dated and could do with a refurb.

Curry sauce was very salty and the meat was very chewy .... fried rice was lovely though... chow mein quite dry 😣

We wanted to have dinner there, but they said, because of many deliveries they do not serve dinner in the restaurant. When they prepare meals anyway, why can't they serve meals IN the restaurant? Never again. I haven't seen anything like this before.

Best Chinese restaurant/takeaway for miles!

Were there late as we had a late return of a day trip, excellent food, enjoyed it immensley and so sis my friends, very nice staff even gave instructions how to hold the bad, Tasty food generous portions.

Fresh tasty food and very polite, pleasant staff. The King Prawn curry was superb, my husband said the beef curry was the best he has tasted, top marks all round.

3 course meal and 2 rounds of drinks for 2 people, only £45. Beautiful meal, friendly & happy staff. Couldnt have asked for better. Would definately recommend.Only down side, would suggest restaurant could use an update.

Picked up a take away for work before we closed for Xmas break , the gentleman that took our order was lovely very helpful & nothing was a probably to do for us , food came piping hot & delicious ! I had a chicken curry delicious will be back well done !!! & thank you

Nipped of n on a Friday night on way home for take out Chinese curry & food was nice at decent price. Portion of curry was same size as rice container - was enough but smaller than most other places we've been. Will go back as food was very tasty & fairly priced.

Was nearly put off by the frontage, but glad we went in. One off our party is a dim sum master chef. And he was well pleased with the quality of the food .

Best food and friendliest staff

Visited when returning to Lanark after many years. Horrendous experirnce. Decor unchanged, dingy lighting,from what could be seen of carpet it looked filthy & the mousetrap in toilet concerning. Staff more concerned with takeaway orders, conversation interrupted by phone & staff taking orders. Service hurried & impersonal. Food average, friends who remake in Lanark would not return

This isn't our local Chinese but still prefer to travel a bit further due to the quality and consistency of the food. Highly recommend, good value for money. Staff are very accommodating when it comes to personal taste.

Been coming here for years - best Chinese in Lanark. Good value lunch time deal. Go there for take-aways and to sometimes sit in. Enjoy their soups, always friendly.

Moved to this area in September 2015 and have not had a Chinese since August. Found this on google and booked a table, and glad we did the food was great the portions large and the service excellent. Meal for four 2 courses each of freshly made food £69 including drinks.Will be back again at the end of the month and will be regular thereafter.

Another return visit for a Lemon chicken, Mixed Chow Mein and the famous Beef curry - - the best in the area and will come back for more!

Excellent choices for both starters & mains from the early evening menu (£8.50 for 2 courses)We both shared chicken satay starter & bbq ribs with prawn crackers followed by 2 chicken dishes with rice. Ample portions with friendly attentive staff, excellent value for money.

Food here is excellent, the family have been running this for as long as I can remember and the food is great. The best beef curry, Chow Mein and Lemon chicken we have ever had.

I live local and use home delivery service good service and the sweet and sour king prawn is amazing I have eaten all over the world including Hong Kong and have not tasted better :)

Due to it being best Chinese in Lanark sometimes have to wait up to 40mins for a take away that is the only negative thing about capital house. The meals are well worth the wait! Great lunch and very reasonable in restaurant. Great value for money no faults at all

Great meal and delivery was fairly quick and food was still warm and fresh. Tried the spicy chicken and black Bean and was redonkulous, highly recommended

Having become totally disillusioned by the Chinese restaurants local to us in West Lothian we travelled 35 miles to Capital House. We are glad we did. Service friendly and courteous, timely and non invasive. The food was excellent. Had ribs to start and what a portion size. Quality ribs too. My favourite meal is chicken spring onion and ginger. Tend to order that as a "measure" of any Chinese. The meal was excellent. Obviously a very popular place for carry outs too. They were non stop delivery and collection. I would genuinely recommend and we will travel that far again to eat there.
