Canton Chop Suey House in North East Lincolnshire

Used this Chinese for quite a few years , very disappointed ordered special chow mein, pancake rolls , chips and sweet and sour sauce which is our usual order,what is going on ? Chips awful, pancake rolls very greasy and chow mein no taste come on guys , what is going on , don't let your standards slip!!!

This was our regular Chinese but sadly the last 2 visits have not been as good . Not sure if it has been taken over or they are using inferior ingredients. The rice was stodgy and chips very chewy overall a big disappointment and will be looking to go elsewhere.

Cannot believe I am saying this but after using this Chinese for years but considering a change.Last nights takeaway delivery was appalling cold greasy and content inadequate.this is the second bad experience so a change is on the cards

Ordered food from here last night and was told 20 pounds for egg fried rice chips curry sauce and spare ribs prawn crackers when we added this up on most recent menu never came anywhere near this cost would stay away from using this company as they clearly charged whatever they like

We have lived in Cleethorpes for over 30 years and used to swear by the Canton for both quality and service. This evening was our last visit after too many repeated disappointments. We ordered Vegetable Chowmein, Salt and Pepper Ribs and Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls. What we got was some unnecessarily sweetened noodle concoction (lacking in all but a few peppers and token beansprouts), spare ribs which were as tough as old boots and frankly, just not what we ordered, and chicken balls coated in an overly thick batter. The rancid tasting prawn crackers were the final straw, however complimentary they may have been. Sorry Canton, we'll be going elsewhere from now on.

The title which I have put in the wrong column says it all. Every morsel was tasty and didn’t want it to end , but the good news is .so much it’s Sunday lunch and looking forward to it.

Ordered 2 special omlettes and 2 curry sauces. Arrived within half an hour. On opening the food there were no curry sauce , rang the takeaway and they said they would deliver in 10 mins to which they did!!! I dont know whats happened to this Chinese but we may have just thrown £17.00 in the bin. Omlette - dry and tastless Chips - Frozen, hard and burnt. Tasted like they had been fried over and over again. Curry sauce- tastless and watery. Very dissapointing when you come home from work looking forward to your tea and it all goes into the bin!!! Needless to say that we will never order from here again !!!

First time and last time, ribs very bland and tasteless, beef and mushroom in black bean sauce also bland, don’t normally do reviews but don’t waste your money, go to lucky instead, what a waste of £25.00

This was our second order this month and it was fantastic again. Every meal was hot and tasty and we all enjoyed it. Canton is our new favourite place.

I really don’t understand the negative reviews. I have been trying to find a decent Chinese takeaway in Grimsby/Clee for over two years. This is 100% the best one. Ever time I have ordered the food has been really tasty and hot. Only downside is they don’t have a website to order from, you have to ring up, which can put some people off ordering, as many people like to order through there phone for convenience. However it is worth ringing for.

First time trying this take away and a big mistake. Everything apart from half the bag of chips went in the bin. Chicken if it was chicken looked and tasted revolting. Wouldn't feed it to a pig not that I have one. Dread to think what tomorrow will bring but on a lighter note there isn't a shortage of toilet paper at the minute. Avoid.

Thought we'd try the Canton as our regular Chinese takeaway is closed and we'd heard good things about the Canton. Crispy chicken was soggy, curry sauce as thick as tar and fried rice that was almost black. Without doubt the worst Chinese food ever. Avoid it like covid. Best thing was we ordered it to be delivered and arrived at the exact minute requested.

Very disappointed !! Had a terrible meal from here a few nights ago food lacked taste and flavour and was the worst Chinese meal I have ever had from here. I grew up in Middlethorpe Road and as kids used to play at the back of the shops and played with the owners kids and grew up eating from this Chinese. I am approaching 60 now and have had many many meals from here and always enjoyed it but now not sure if there are new owners but it’s really gone down hill. I will not get another meal again unless things change and will seek a new business to buy from. Sorry guys food was terrible.....!! Bland and tasteless food..

Bought a shrimp curry and boiled rice which consisted of a few prawns and a few onions floating in some yellow watery liquid. The boiled rice was okay. I can't imagine how they get any good reviews selling rubbish like this.

First time getting food from Canton. Ordered 2 chow meins. Both of them were way too sweet, the Singapore chow mein not spicy at all! Asked for a bag of prawn crackers , got a small bag with 6 pieces in it! Never going back again!

we have just moved to Humberston and tried this take away for the first time at the week end. really good food and delivery service. the special curry is especially good but all the food is great. will definitely again.

Normally when we have a takeout from Canton it is really nice however tonight my special chop suey didn’t have a lot of sauce, was bland in taste and the peppers were hard. I think basically they chucked it in a pan, whirled it round for 2 minutes and then put it in a tray. Come on Canton get yourself act together

I’ve tried about 5 Chinese take aways in Cleethopes in the last 10 years never liked any found this last year it’s absolutely fantastic Really nice food

I always come back here ive tried different ones but will always recommend this one as we used to use this when my nanna and grandad used to have us all round different places are different and is my favourite around here.staff are friendly and polite and its good value for money intact you get som much i will have the rest on the morning .

After not having a Chinese for 3 months & our usual one closed due to lockdown we reviewed and decided to try here. We all ordered chicken satay starters which the sauce was nice, however the chicken was undercooked in parts and extremely chewy. For mains all the rice was stuck together as though it had been reheated, the beef dish was tasteless and didn’t have much beef in and was chewy. The prawn crackers were the best part, as most of the meal went in the bin! Will not be returning.

I'm not one to leave reviews but this Chinese is the best I've had. Usually everywhere I go have really dried sweet and sour chicken ball but these are cooked perfectly! The food always tastes fresh! Lovely customer service and staff too

Very quick service (on collections) extensive menu, great choice and tasty food. This isn't my local takeaway but I'd rather travel the few miles for the food from here

It’s a while since we have had a Chinese from the Canton, so tonight thought we would return there. What a good decision. Rang with the order which was dealt with very politely and efficiently by a lady. She said it would be ready in ten minutes, and sure enough when I arrived to pick the food up it was ready. Back home we tucked into hot, tasty and good sized portions. Cannot speak to highly of the service and food and can highly recommend this establishment. Looking forward to the next takeaway from here already.

We first tried this takeway on Christmas Eve and it was lovely do decided I would have this as my birthday treat. The food was delivered really quickly and was piping hot,. The dishes were packed with ingredients and the meat was lovely. Would highly recommend

Ordered a takeaway from here for the family at 6.15 pm , rang them at 8.30 said we was next to be delivered, driver rang at 8.45 saying she couldn’t find address was at the wrong road, rang them and they blamed the delivery driver, they agreed reluctantly to reduce our bill by £3 however when the very unapologetic delivery driver arrived she refused to accept this and was extremely rude , said she didn’t have her phone so I had to ring them back so the driver could be told this, she then proceeded to have a conversation on my phone , I asked for it back and she started swearing at me . Absolutely appalling have never known anything like it. Shall never ever use this place again and would wrongly recommend nobody else does also food was stone cold

Ordered ‘our usual’ at Canton based on the reviews on here and we weren’t disappointed. The noodles were just right, chicken was tender and crispy beef was the best I’ve ever had! I highly recommend this Chinese and we will be going again!

We’ve tried plenty takeaways in and around the area and Canton on Middlethorpe Road is by far the best around. Still do the ‘proper chips’ and the curry sauce has a right good kick to it. Never had a bad meal and always ready within 15/20 mins for collections. Can be busy at the weekends as it is a popular place.

Honestly the best Chinese takeaway in the area! The food is amazing and the timing (how long it takes to make the order) is also astounding! This one time I ordered from here and they said it would be 45 minutes but it was delivered in under 15 minutes. This was amazing and the delivery drivers have such polite manners! Absolutely nothing bad at all about Canton and would highly recommend this to anyone!!! I've never had a bad meal from here and I'd highly recommend the chicken chow mein to anyone! It's AMAZING!! 10/10!!

Young girls that are about 17 that think they can do what they want as the owner does not understand, this includes ordering customers what they want them to eat as well as overcharging them when they order delivery. The owner passes the phone onto the delivery staff as he does not understand, the overcharging has not happened once but on several occasions. Doubt whether I will be returning to this Chinese for meals due to the staff need replacing and competent staff being employed. Might help as well if the owner can speak English so he can deal with the complaints rather than pass the phone to those that you are complaining about.

Very disappointed tonight, starved myself all day so I could enjoy a takeaway away from here tonight, we started ringing them for a delivery about 9.45pm and they decided to leave the phone off the hook. We've tried for 1hr then left it, very very disappointed they must have know, as they wouldn't be getting any orders.

honestly it is the best food thats ever been in my mouth. the chicken balls melt and the chips r banging honestly would recommend to anyone.

ordered a meal for delivery was delivered on time and hot portions were generous compared to our local in norfolk and not expensive if we holidayed again localy would not hesitate to order again

the service here was remarkably efficient, both on the telephone and over the counter. The food was typical Take-away menu but well cooked and with generous portions

My parents will only ever order from here and the food is delicious! We always pick the order up as we live around the corner and it is always ready within 15-20 minutes. Friendly staff and good quality food - can't go wrong! We always get the 4 dishes for £13 which makes it better value.

If you want a takeaway, but don’t mind being lied to then this is the place for you!!!!! Ring your order through, Chase it up after 45 minutes, you will be told it’s on it’s way, when you’ve waited another 15 minutes and ring back, they’ll tell you it’s just being cooked and will be with you in 15 minutes!!

Best chinese ever. ..ordered beef chowmein and they certainly did not scrimp on the Beef lots of it..and chicken balls in Batter were big .highly recomend this place and delivery driver was so lovley and friendly 5***** all the way for us..could not fault it all yummy ..Go on treat yourself you will not be disapointed

This is by far the best Chinese in Cleethorpes. They always seem to get it right. Nice staff and good food. They even cook a few things as I prefer them. Excellent choice for Chinese in Cleethropes.

Been using the Canton for about 20 years. Never had a bad meal always good food and plenty of it. Probably the best Chinese food takeway in the area, (even though they are Korean!)

The previous evening, I phoned this establishment. Firstly, to ascertain that they were open at lunchtime, which was confirmed. Secondly, I specifically asked if they accepted credit cards for payment. This was clearly confirmed so we were confident that we didn't need to get cash prior to our visit.

Absolutely brilliant service on a grey January Saturday - set meal for 2 - more like meal for 5! Lots of great dishes, lots of great food - everything superb. Would highly recommend. A sparkling jewel in the Chinese takeaway crown. Will definitely go again.

Called here for a Chinese takeaway last night. I ordered the chicken satay and it was the best I have had in ages. Plenty of it too. Everyone else said their food was very good too. I would eat from here again when next visiting Cleethorpes.

Good quality takeaway chinese. Recently has been taken over by new managment but continues qith good food and service.

Buenas porciones de tamaño, que era preciosa y fresca y caliente. Estupendo si tienes apetito, si no puede guardarlo para el día siguiente. Mis hijos vivieron en la bolas de pollo por 2 días, ya que son enormes. La calidad de sus ingredientes y sin duda volveremos

Use this takeaway frequently , so far food is always of a high standard , only downside is delivery is generally slow , so it's perhaps better to pick up , give it a try you won't be disappointed

The food tasted lovely at the time but the next day three of the five adults had a upset stomach making several trips to to the toilet not to be sick.

Pedir comida para mí y la familia en la "oferta" de cuatro.... Me sorprendió gratamente la comida era agradable, sabrosa y raciones bastante bueno para el precio. Volveremos de nuevo.

Ordered a takeaway and was told it would be delivered within one hour after waiting 1 hour 15 min called them to be told the driver still had not come back to pick our order to deliver and could not tell us how long it would be we cancelled and went else were

My wife and I tried this Chinese for the first time last week and it was the best Chinese I have tasted for ages. Beef chow mein wastepaper notch and the kung Po duck melted in your mouth. As Arnie says, I'll be back!' :-D

Good food. 4 meals for £10 on mon tues and thursday. Excellent service. Will be going again. Very tasty and I recommend everyone to try.
