Cantina Kitchen and Bar in Torbay

I sat inside and it was full of unbehaved dogs that are barking loudly , awful atmosphere as if I was in Vet or an animal rescue centre . I know they can't control this as I am assuming most of their customers are nearby park dog walkers

I really enjoy visiting Cantina, you can order at the table via QR or at the bar. The toilets are clean and the staff are ever so friendly. They allow dogs and I've had no issues breastfeeding here.

Cake and hot chocolate, yum. Great location near the beach. Love music had a tendency to be quite loud due to the echo in the building.

I was surprised and shocked that there was a statue of a naked male displaying full frontal view of the male anatomy very detailed and explicit. Not sure it is really appropriate in a family cafe. Not sure why there is a mirror in the toilets that is only groin high very concerning.

Great seaside bistro bar with lovely food and very dog friendly. Sundays they have live music and also some evenings when open. Opening times vary with the seasons.

I've visited this cafe, restaurant for many years and seen management and staff, decor and menu changes over this time. In its present guise the indoor area is quite relaxed and the outdoor area is similar and really comes into its own I'm the summer when holidaymakers join locals as Customers. I've found the staff friendly and the service efficient, the most recent visit being no exception. However on a recent visit the burglar alarm went off whilst I was sitting outside with others making conversation impossible. I believe the owner came out and observed the errant siren a couple of times but at no point did he or any of the staff attempt to apologise for the ongoing alarm or explain what was happening. Not good . The coffee is fine here and the cakes look good and the food can be interesting and tasty - either the "fast food" or more interesting specials. Like a growing number of places it's payment by "card only" . I find this trend annoying and discriminates against people who do not have a bank card . You also need to give your table number when ordering so if you are on your own you have the problem of "saving" a table whilst you place your order. Ordering by phone may be an option but again there are people who don't possess smart phones. Lastly you need to accept dogs as many customers are accompanied by their pet or pets. Sometimes the dogs aren't obedient or calm! The live music is usually of a good standard.

What a gem! This place does healthy fresh food with a nice atmosphere. Not a lot of comparable places nearby either, so a great find.

Surprisingly good food. Can get very busy. Nevertheless it is extremely popular with visitors and locals alike. Most of the seating is outside, but some of this is under cover. Much frequented by dog walkers. Had excellent roast beef ciabatta.

Sunday roast was nice but gravy was bland. Duck taco was mega expensive for something small and deep fried.

This is a dog friendly restaurant/bar. The food was very good, with an imaginative and varied menu. Service was good and we were not rushed out pressured to eat up quickly. Considering it was of season it was very busy which says everything about this place. I would return in a heartbeat next time I'm in Paignton.

Lunch today at this eclectic restaurant. Taking part in the current Torbay Seafood Festival, an excellent thin base prawn and chilli pizza. Super location. Big garden area for alfresco dining. Doggy friendly. Cheerful shipmates. 🇬🇧🇳🇿

Great place for brunch. I had the BLT which was so nice. The other half had goats cheese pizza with blackberries (I know I know!) which was tasty too. Nice place to eat either inside or outside.

Very dog friendly, team are so friendly and recognise you from visit to visit I find the food to be absolutely amazing, absolutely worth the slightly higher price. All locally sourced and sooo tasty. These guys seem like a big family and all enjoy their jobs. Thanks for looking after me for the last 4 days.

Fabulous family and dog friendly restaurant not far from sandy beach. Cakes looked fabulous. I recommend it.

I've been here many times before but haven't reviewed until now! Always a pleasant experience whether just popping in for a drink or staying longer for food. Today we ate, sat in the garden area with our dogs. The ordering process is quick and easy, with QR codes on the table if you don't want to order at the till inside. Drinks were brought to our table soon after we ordered, even though it was a busy lunchtime. Our food didn't take too long to come out either, the quality and taste was spot on. Not only is The Cantina very dog friendly, it is also very family friendly too with colouring books and pencils available for children to colour in.

Got the gluten free Cauliflower steaks wow what a disappointment it was, still hard not cooked very well not worth the £14 won't lie felt completely ripped off value for money was a complete joke.. you made it sound so good on the menu the way it was written but in truth was horrible to eat and didn't finish it!!! Won't be coming back again sorry

We had a lovely lunch - 4 adults and 3 dogs - on a beautiful sunny September Sunday - We all went for something from the Specials board and were not disappointed!! Beautiful King Prawns, a fancy crab sandwich, a prawn pizza and a juicy steak sandwich!! Very efficient service and despite being really busy it all arrived very promptly - free biscuits for the dogs and towels and rugs available indoors if the weather had been more autumnal - Highly recommended!!

While on a family holiday with our daughter, son in law and grandsons they visited this restaurant, when I arrived on Thursday morning for the rest of the holiday, they all said that I would love the food here. So, on Friday evening we all went for a meal and it was delicious, the portions were very good and beautifully cooked, there is a great atmosphere, while waiting for our food the children played table tennis and badminton all of which is provided free. We will certainly be visiting again when we are on holiday.

Having ready the reviews on catina we thought we’d give it a try for lunch but how disappointed are we, when ordering the bar area didn’t look particularly clean and tidy, the cakes on the bar weren’t covered and were open for anyone to touch with not even a glass front to protect them. We ordered our food and drink, drinks arrived promptly followed by the food with in approximately 6 minutes which we were surprised at, the food was only just warm the chips tasted of cooking oil and the pork belly was still pink inside, we hardly eat any of our food, I had the cantina burger the temp of the food wasn’t correct because the cheese didn’t even melt on it…. Very disappointed …we definitely wouldn’t recommend going here

Cantina is a fantastic spot with delicious food, excellent service from Barry and his team. Many food choices caters for all tastes and great music too!! The family loved our two visits this week!!

We stumbled across this place during a few hours in Paignton. It had a great outside area that had a badminton net set up and ready to play with whilst we waited for our food. The buzzing atmosphere was added to with great live music and the sun being out for the duration of our visit. There was a good selection of different food and drink and we opted for crabby fries, monkfish tacos and halloumi fries. They were without a doubt the best halloumi fries I’ve ever had. Served with yoghurt and almonds and chilli sauce, I won’t forget them in a hurry! Great amount of crab served with the normal fries too. However, it was the outstanding service we received that really impelled me to leave this review. Despite how busy and big the place is, I felt noticed, looked-after and served promptly. It wasn’t try-hard, in-your-face service, but rather just friendly staff who were floating around, being very efficient and approachable. They clearly work as a tight-knit team with great communication, kitchen staff included. Thank you all for making our short visit to Paignton so memorable!

Served with broccoli, instead of the advertised asparagus, was disappointing too. I would have complained but I was part of a birthday group and the birthday girl was paying so I didn't want to spoilt it for her. Three out of the ten of us had this dish and sadly all had rock hard eggs. At £9 a head we expected far better. It was a shame, because the service was good, as was the atmosphere.

Helpful little seafront cafe. Reasonable price but limited choice

Always loved the food here unfortunately they only accept cards now which is such a shame, therefore will not be going back. Just wish business would stop allowing customers to choose how they pay.

First time visit for me and it won’t be my last! Crabby chips and Steaky chips were superb! Perfectly acceptable portion size for the price imho! My only minor gripe was a 330ml bottle of peroni being £5!! My fault though for not reading the menu properly (I wrongly thought the peroni was on draft). I look forward to my next visit.

We went for brunch, and had a lovely meal - well cooked, served by friendly staff in a lovely environment. Very dog friendly, with towels to dry wet dogs, and dog biscuits on the menu. Will be going back for sure!

You know the experience is going to be great when the place is buzzing, and Cantina never disappoints. Fabulous staff, all the ambience and the best food I have tasted all year. My hake taco was fresh, zingy and delicious. We will be back!!

Had a meal there 13/07/23. Dreadful. Lamb chops, raw ,not cooked, salad Foul , chips discusting Two small drinks, cost £48 . Total rip off . A must to AVOID.

The food was rather below bar for the price. The chips dry and lacklustre. One might expect a little bit more for this amount of money. The dogs barking at one another make it less appealing.

We discovered the Catina Kitchen and Bar on our recent visit to Goodrington Sands. Lovely friendly atmosphere, attentive young staff and fresh tasty pizza could not ask for better (boyfriend says best pizza he has ever had)! Fab will be back.

Popped in for a drink after an evening stroll. Flat white and chai latte were disappointing to say the least. Chai latte was lacking in chai and was essentially just warm milk. Flat white was simply coffee with warm milk.

Second visit today after stopping by for a drink yesterday and seeing the food. Didn't disappoint! Both had the Cantina Burger, pint of lager and a J20 (£40) more than we would usually pay but not your usual burger! We did opt for big plate menu. Two words sums this up.. Absolutely Stunning! Will certainly be returning. Dog friendly, lovely setting and banging food and coffee amazing too. As a holiday treat for us, worth every penny!!

A quick lunch before a trip to the waterpark. The lamb and feta pizza was delicious and really reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and we were served quickly, even though it was a sunny, weekend and they were busy. We always try to support independent businesses, glad we chose this place over Costa or Brewers Fayre.

I absolutely love this place and, in summer particularly, it’s always rammed so a good indicator that it’s decent. What I love about Cantina is that they offer what so few places do - chips, cakes, sausages, ice creams etc for my extremely picky kids...

A really nice cafe with a cosy interior, and large outdoor eating space divided into a covered (seagull proof) area for alfresco (you're-not-local-then?) dining. The food is good, the coffee better, and the staff brilliant.

We arrived at 11:35, knowing that breakfast finished at 11:45. I not been well and haven’t been enjoying food lately but had really enjoyed the vanilla crumble French toast a few weeks ago. We could’ve ordered, with time to spare, via the app but my friend is GF so wanted to ask if it was available with GF bread. She queued behind 2 other people. I asked the lady who was making coffee if we would still be able to order from the breakfast menu and she assured me that we would as were in the queue. However, we were then told that the chef would not allow this. It was still only 11:42 when we were stood at the counter to order. I have been a regular customer here for years. Been to events, NYE, family Sunday Roast, both summer and winter, and I regularly take people there. I understand that he knows none of that, or how poorly I have been (irrelevant I know) and the lady behind the counter was so apologetic. But even with no reason we could still have ordered in time. Not busy, and no good reason to refuse us. I would have left had it not been that my friend had come a long way to take me there for that specific easy to make breakfast. Not a pleasant visit, and if you’re going to doggedly stick to the rules at least make sure you’re in the right!!

Great summer vibe with activities for children including an entertainer and outdoor badminton net set up in the garden. Sun cream also available and tap water provided in outside gazebo. Great food and cake! Would recommend.
