Cute little eatery with a good menu. The food was good. The restaurant itself was cute but small. We sat in a small enclosure outside, which wasn't the most comfortable but good enough. Friendly staff

We regularly have a Sunday brunch here. However, on a recent visit , the ambience and service was very different. There has been a change of ownership. As a Welsh person and a learner of the language I was made to feel embarrassed because I ordered a coffee In English! The service was patronising and parochial and conducted yng ghymraeg , I felt that this was to prove a point ! An expensive menu for basic choice which resulted in my family ordering a coffee and leaving. So disappointed. We will definitely look for another Sunday coffee and brunch stop.

Brought here by my sister after good reviews from her. The staff weren’t very welcoming as soon as we got there and the table hadn’t been wiped down so was dirty unfortunately. I ordered a coronation chicken ciabatta which I could tell had quality ingredients and tasted good however there was far too much butter and I was finding clumpy of butter which made me feel rather ill afterwards. Unfortunately there was no one around to feedback to. I would say it is slightly overpriced for what it is. Not sure I would visit again.

A friend recommended this place but its the first and last time I visit. It's a pretentious and over priced cafe. Was served by obviously untrained and rude staff who looked at me as if I was in the way. They took my money ok though. Cup of tea was the most expensive I've ever had, served in a tiny cup with the tea bag still in the cup and no saucer so had to dump the tea bag on the ground. Tiny bit of milk in a minuscule jug and the overly priced flapjack was factory bought, rapped in plastic and given to me as was with no plate. When I asked for a plate the staff looked at me as if I was being unreasonable but did begrudgingly give me one. The music blared out so we couldn't really have a conversation and my overall experience was basically very poor.

Visited here for lunch and have to say it was all very disappointing. Ordered chicken Caesar salad which was probably the worst I have ever been served. Tiny cold tin plate with 4 cold slices of chicken, half a gem lettuce and a few teaspoons of dressing - oh and 1 slice of tomato? And for this embarrassment they charged £8.50. I fully understand that food has a mark up but this was really taking advantage ..... unsurprisingly I won’t be back.

We went to Canna Deli for the special nights they are running for the next few weeks on Friday and Saturdays. So glad we did! Had a brilliant time and the food was superb. We visited on Moules & Frites night- the mussels were some of the best we’ve had. They came with lovely bread and fries! We ordered the special wine which was brought in to compliment the mussels, and it was lovely. The outside seating is under cover but no heaters, so wrap up! There is background music and a lovely atmosphere. Also, I can see some reviews regarding Welsh language- I’m Welsh (non-Welsh speaking) and my partner is English. We were greeted in Welsh before the establishing we were English speaking, the service was great, and we didn’t feel as though we were treated differently to the Welsh speaking customers. Can’t wait to go back- will be visiting for lunch, and likely booking in for the upcoming Fondue night!

We frequently visit Canna Deli for a brunch treat because the food is excellent and it’s in a great part of town. Although it may be seen as a bit pricey, the quality and taste of the food makes up for it. However every occasion we have visited we’ve been met by the same unwelcoming and almost burdensome approach from the staff. We visited today to support the deli upon their re-opening and as always the food was excellent. £8 for just a sandwich May seem a lot but it was delicious. However, unfortunately we were met with the same sour attitude from the staff and felt like an inconvenience despite handing over a fair amount of money for a pretty basic lunch. It’s solely the food that keeps us coming back, and if that aspect of the deli were to go downhill we wouldnt be returning.

Their signature breakfast dish is simply brilliant. Ham, caremalised onion, egg, cheese, avocado, black pudding with a light sweet warming chilli sauce. One of the best best brunch/breakfasts I've had in Cardiff and gives places like Cafe du Chat Noir a run for their money. Yes it's small and cramped. The chances of you finding a table on a weekend are limited. But since when did people go to cafes for the decor and interior design. If you can get in, it's worth the trip.

Called in for breakfast and the food was tasty and plentiful, if unusual fare. I had “the works” which as it implies was a large meal and very tasty. Unfortunately the overall experience isn’t glowing as: condensation was dripping from the roof, the staff were far from friendly and it was generally pricey. Also, for me, the venue is a touch cramped. I understand that some people will love this place and that’s evident from other reviews, but it’s not for me. I very doubt that I’ll be back.

Ordered a cappuccino, scotch egg and salad and it came to almost a tenner. Scotch egg was very runny and cold(the yolk should be softly cooked), the "coleslaw" was roughly chopped red cabbage in cheap mayo, the potato salad (two lumps of spuds and nothing else) the same. The salad consisted of 5 olives, bagged lettuce and 4 tiny tomatoes. At home I would cut the tomatoes and olives, dress the salad, and any coleslaw or potato salad I would make uses scant use of mayo and more use of creme fraiche, fresh herbs, spring onions, lemon juice etc. Why go out for this? Lazy, careless and cheap cooking. Given the very short menu you'd think they could do those tiny things well. Siom enfawr.I won't be back.

I stumbled across Canna Deli with a colleague today whilst looking for somewhere to grab a quick coffee. How I wish it would have been for lunch. Tucked away in a quiet courtyard along with some other lovely looking businesses the deli has a good number of tables inside. It is really well laid out. We received a really friendly welcome and had quite a chuckle with the guys behind the counter. We enjoyed good coffee and delicious snacks. It was only when we sat at a table we saw the menu, a little bit of something for everyone. We will definitely be back for lunch very soon. Keep up the great work.

Coffee was good. Told the staff where I was sat when I ordered but I still had to get up and show my face at the counter to get my coffee brought over. Female staff member has no idea why manners are. Ordered the scrambled eggs w chilli and avo, when the food arrived it was without the chilli. Asked at the counter and the girl acknowledged the fault in a way that told me she knew the meal wasn’t complete. She then says she would have to find the single bottle of sirarcha and bring it over - no apology given. There is no way they can justify the price of the food here when the general customer experience is so bad. This was my first and only visit.

You need deep pockets to shop here. We visited during the summer & the frowns on the faces of the people working there when they saw us enter, said it all....'your types aren't welcome here' 😶😕judged by the way we dress! I have long hair for a man & dress like a biker(cuz I am) The food isn't as fresh as they make our either, nor is it as local as it should be...it's all just for show. People only use this deli because it's the 'in place to be seen in' pfff, I grow my own organic, locally produced pesticide free veg & fruit ~ which is more tastier than everything they sell. Stuck up describes their attitude perfectly - I'll never go 🔙 😤

The food at Canna Deli is very, very good. There is a selection of locally sourced, tasty sandwiches, brunch and great coffee on offer. They also offer a deli service, selling fantastic looking cakes, meats and Welsh wines. That alone should be worth 5 stars. But the attitude of the staff leaves a lot to be desired. If you're not speaking the Welsh tongue as you enter, prepare for the staff to look at you as if you were scraped from their shoe. After my first visit I thought I'd give the place a second chance, but the staff were even worse the second time around. They talked over me to each other in welsh and later ignored my friend who'd been waiting to serve welsh speakers. Welsh, born and bred and proud but I won't be going back.
