Charming place with great service and lots amenities. Location is convenient and not far from Victoria station. A clean and quiet room with a clear touch of history. Tea, coffee, cookies and more :) Thank you for a pleasant experience.

I haven't stayed at the hotel but I live next to it and go there for lunch and breakfast all the time. Everyone is super nice and the food is very good! Definitely good value for money

This place is great if you can't decide what to have for breakfast/lunch. You can have Chinese or English at the same table. They made me a sausage bean and cheese toastie. The sausages were really burned but everything other than that was OK and the service is always good. This day was cash only which was a bit annoying so hopefully that's sorted for next time

called hear by chance but was not disapointed with the food,we both had the chow mein which was the best i have had for a long time,the service was very good and attentive will definately come back next time in harrogate delicious

The best full English breakfast I've ever had from any cafe in Yorkshire. Huge portions, freshly cooked and 5 star service.

Roast duck and pork with delicious vegetables and fried rice. It was excellent and the portions were huge. The service was pleasant and quick. My friends chose from the English menu and they loved their fish and chips. We will certainly be back again.

The Cambridge Café is not very prepossessing from the inside or outside but the freindly staff more than make up for the decor. Excellent service , reasonable prices - we treated ourselves to fish finger sandwiches and they were delicious and looking at some of the Chinese dishes that were brought out and the aroma I will try a specialty next time .

We were visiting Harrogate for my fiancée's birthday but unfortunately Haks (our favourite Chinese) was closed for the week. I saw that the Cambridge Café had good feedback so we took a stroll up there. We got there at 6pm. There was a man and a woman inside who were obviously the owners and their kids were sat at a table eating. The door however had "closed" written on it and that they were only taking Just Eat orders. We walked back to our apartment, also passing another Chinese takeaway called "Rice". I thought about ordering from the latter, but decided to get back and get a meal delivered from Cambridge Café. Firstly I thought the layout of the dishes being within subsections on the menu was cumbersome and silly. We ordered prawn crackers, prawn toast (they don't do seaweed?!), spring rolls, noodles, egg fried rice, chicken curry and sweet and sour chicken. The prawn crackers are supposedly quality Vietnamese ones that, in reality taste like all the others we have had! I absolutely loved the prawn toast but my fiancée wasn't a fan. They were chunky and flavoursome. Veggie spring rolls were bland and tasteless, noodles and rice were OK. The sweet and sour chicken was very nice. I found the chicken curry a bit weak, it tasted dumbed down. Overall it was a fairly average meal with the prawn toast for me being a surprise highlight. On reflection however we would not eat from there again as better alternatives are available.

Got ignored again for ages, people came in after us and got served straight away. One couple walked out another had to ask again for there drinks and another table was considering leaving also. Get more staff at lunch! Also lower prices for a cafe needed

We called in for lunch yesterday and we weren't disappointed as the foods are AMAZING!! The owner even accommodate our request that they don't quite have in the menu. As living locally it's impossible to get proper Chinese foods unless going into Leeds but Cambridge cafe is definitely best Chinese in town. The owner and the lady who looking after our table also kind to my little dog. We will definitely going back.

The Cambridge Cafe is a very popular place for those in the know. From the outside it looks like a tea shop for old ladies but looks are very deceptive. The first ime I visited I ordered from the English menu; only after realising that there was an extensive Chinese menu! The staff are friendly and helpful and will discuss the menu and adapt the dishes to your liking; if you can't see it on the menu just ask. It's very popular with the local Chinese and the food is as close to genuine Chinese cuisine as I have come across. In other words not adjusted to the local palate as most places do.

After a non delivery from just eat!! The restaurant, Cambridge Cafe,sorted everything out for me.The refund from just eat and then a lovely young lady from the restaurant delivered my order herself! Unbelievable service... Delicious 2 course meal.. 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

On holiday at our caravan and ordered a collection for food, didn’t realise just eat delivered. On collection the lady was excellent explaining the cafe closed at 4pm and they only do take always after that time generally through a delivery agent ie just eat. We ordered crispy duck, king prawn curry with egg fried rice and chicken chow mein. The food was excellent the taste was out of this world first class restaurant standard. Would definitely order again and would like to visit when the cafe is open. Not the cheapest of take away but you pay for quality. The food was definitely first class.

We were looking for a café for lunch and found this place. We did not know it served Chinese food which we enjoy so we both had egg fried rice, one vegetable and one king prwan. Both were excellent. And the staff were friendly and helpful

Ordered takeaway, which took nearly 90 minutes and then turned up stone cold! We were hungry so we reheated it and it was terrible…no taste and barely any meat! Worst takeaway we have had…shocker

Called in for tea and a quick bite to eat as we didn't have a lot of time for a full meal due to travel. Lovely food and the meals passing us looked and smelt amazing. On our next visit to Harrogate we will definitely be back. Friendly staff and fast service. Well worth a visit.

Menu looks very exciting, blend of Chinese food and typical English cafe food too. We only had coffees, which were great, but the food that came to nearby tables looked delicious and plentiful!! Very clean, covid conscious. 😉

I get food from herd alot and it is always great. Great prices and so tasty. It is also alot more authentic Chinese compared to the Anglo Chinese food that is served at most of their competitors. I will continue to support this business because it is good and ran well.

Good place. Was busy but after a small wait got in and served, we went for the english option (i know at a chinese) but props to them, they did a really remarkable job at it. If you’re looking for a small cafe with a good selection on the menu then this place is the one for you.

This is a great place to eat. Really good authentic Chinese food but fancied a breakfast this time and wasn't disappointed. Went for the large and it was very large. One of the best English breakfasts I've had in a longtime. Everything was cooked perfectly including the fried egg and the fried bread nice and crispy. No grease in sight. It comes with a choice of tea or coffee adding to the value. I would've liked the option to add black pudding but not everyone likes it and it didn't stop my enjoyment of the food. This is a nicely laid out restaurant with very friendly and welcoming staff. Will be back for Chinese next time because that's amazing too.

We stumbled up on this place while looking for some lunch.We went in and sat down, within 2 mins somebody came over to make sure we were ok and we had menus.There was a great selection on the menus both English and Chinese food.With the food being freshly made my girlfriend requested that they did not put a lot of chilli in here dish.The food was excellent and reasonably priced as well.I had the Prawn Wonton soup and the special Curry with rice.I did not leave a thing on my plate.My Girlfriend had Salt and Pepper Chicken with Egg fried rice. Also very niceAll staff were very friendly and helpful.We will definitely be going back again

Myself and my boyfriend visited Harrogate for the day, we were looking for a cafe for a bite to eat. Was surprised to see Chinese food served in a little cafe like that, but what a great little place it was quite busy too. I wish I was hungrier than I was as I wanted to try a Chinese meal as they looked really nice. We both had a toastie and chips each which were filling.

Came here after finding it on trip advisor. Fabulous Chinese food, so tasty and generous portions.Totally unpretentious. Run by great staff, who were happy to help. Loved it and would definitely go again.

What a fabulous place this is, serving English and Chinese food. Run by a Chinese family who are all so very lovely and who can’t do enough for you! We had the full English breakfast which was delicious, comes with complimentary tea or coffee as well. Will definitely be using this cafe more often. Thanks guys from Dee & Danny x

This cafe reminded us of some of our favourite places to eat in Hong Kong. Great tasting food, simple decor, excellent service. They understood my dietary needs for a gluten free meal perfectly, which always gives me the confidence to enjoy my food rather than worry I will be ill later! Perfect as well if someone in you group does not like Chinese food as they had a traditional English cafe menu too. Very good value for money. We will definitely be returning next time we are in Harrogate.

Popped in for a late breakfast, went for the full English. Well cooked and nice sausage and bacon. They managed to fry the egg perfectly which seems to be a lost art nowadays. Nice to get fried bread as well.

Popped in here because I had a real hankering for a full English, and was a bit confused by the combination of a Chinese menu and traditional English fare.

Only had 2xteas and 2xscones here for £7. However, the Chinese menu and food looked delicious! Everything was served piping hot and quickly. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Toilets slightly outdated but did their purpose for customers. Thank you

Last time I went here was nearly 20 years ago. Food is spot on, portion sizes good, prices great, place very clean and staff very attentive. I would highly recommend for a good fry up in the morning after a late one the night before. 5/5

I’ve just got a chinese with my partner from here. I asked for very mild chicken curry and it was quite spicy(I hate splicey food) it was so watery and the chicken didn’t taste good either. I’m now an unhappy, hungry customer and won’t be visiting again

The Chinese food arrived piping hot and delicious. The vegetables in the dishes we ordered were lovely and fresh and perfectly cooked. The little crispy spring rolls (ordered as a starter) were yummy! Definitely want to try more of The Cambridge Cafe's menu.

We nearly gave this place a miss - a Chinese restaurant that also has a full English menu? But I wanted chips for lunch and my son wanted noodles so we decided to try it out. Everything we ordered was yummy and very reasonably priced. There were lots of locals eating there, which is generally a good sign.

Cambridge cafe is an unusual place. Very unpretentious , basic. Diverse clientele. Local Chinese family run a very English cafe with a separate Chinese menu that has the best wonton noodle soup EVER.

At £29.70 plus a Deliveroo charge I thought this expensive for 2 side dishes and a main, but considering the excellent reviews I went ahead believing I was in for something a little bit special. How wrong I was.....the noodles and pork dumplings were extremely thick and stodgy, there was very little meat or prawns in what was described as chicken, pork and prawn chow Mein and everything was tainted with the taste of old ‘off’ oil. It was awful. It went in the bin. Never again.

Been to this place for years as the Chinese food is absolutely brilliant. However the restaurant feels like it hasn’t been redecorated since it opened, with sticky plastic table covers and yellow walls. Would highly recommend for some good Chinese food on a lunchtime if you can look past the old interior.

Had lunch here and was pleasantly surprised. I had one of the Chinese dishes another in our party had the prawn cocktail and another eggs and ham. Service was quick. The helpings were very good and all was freshly made. Wish I’d found this cafe when we were looking for a reasonably priced breakfast.

Sometimes I just want to finish what I'm doing and have a tasty lunch with a diet coke or a glass of water. Doesn't need to be fancy. It doesn't need to serve smashed avocodo on either rye, sourdough, gluten free, wheat free bread. It doesn't need to sell 45 different artisan beers or offer 5 specials explained to me by a waiter/ess wearing a ear piece. This place is a scruffy little Cafe (don't let that put you off) that serves you lovely Chinese or English food with a drink for less than a tenner. Waitress comes takes your order from the table and then you pay at the till on the way out. Great.

Me and a friend stopped for some lunch after a little shopping trip, I am coeliac so sometimes struggle eating out, staff were helpful when recommending food, I had chicken chow mein with rice noodles (Big portion), it was delicious! And my friend had a toastie, all in all with drinks it was £16, will definitely be going back for a visit sometime soon!

I went for breakfast which was pretty good. Decided to try dinner. Had the sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice. The word to accurately describe this meal was"disgusting". How this place received the rating it has is beyond me.

Just eaten at this cafe my mum took us in on one of our visits to Harrogate that time only had a cupper but friendly service so tired it again after our Christmas shopping have a choice of English cafe food or a full Chinese menu we'll worth a visit for a cupper or more if your hungry

Whilst staying at the Yorkshire hotel, we had lunch here and if they had been open, we would have had dinner here too. This unassuming cafe sells the most delicious Chinese food and the menu is really varied. They also serve very clean, tasty cafe food so there is something for everyone. It is very reasonably priced but my husband and I would pay far more for the food served here.Try it...you won't be disappointed.

This place is really a hidden gem. It’s in the centre of Harrogate and looks like a regular cafe. However they have many delicious Chinese dishes on their menu and well as classic English dishes. Portions are very generous, excellent value for money. We’ve been going for many years. Staff are very kind and friendly, highly recommend!

Saw some other reviews saying this was good. It may not have the decor of a posh restaurant, but the staff are friendly the food delicious and freshly cooked and reasonably priced. Even brought out some gluten free soy sauce. While the restaurant states that food can't be guaranteed gluten free as prepped in same area as non gluten I had no after effects.would visit again next time I'm in the area

Called in for lunch, hadn't been for a couple of years. I usually have a cheese toastie but decided to have a Chinese meal today. At £7 for main including rice is good value and large portion. The pork and cashew dish i found did not have much flavour and was VERY oily. Hubby's meal similar but he does not seem to mind oil slicks! . My main concern was the state of the ladies loo, it was old and dirty and worse still the toilet did not flush. Yuck, sure breaking environmental health laws? Will not return!

Like other reviewers, I would have passed the Cambridge Cafe by, if I had not read the reviews. This unassuming little cafe is a culinary gem. It doesn't pretend to be fine dining, which it most certainly is not, but the food it does serve is delicious and plentiful. It does a great breakfast, fantastic sausage, egg and chips and all the usual suspects you would expect from a good british cafe. But it doesn't end there... the jewel in its crown is the amazing chinese food which it serves. I had the special chow mien and my husband had king prawn, green pepper and black bean sauce. Both were equally delicious and as good as any takeaway I have had, better than most in fact. It is very reasonably priced and I can't wait to go back and have something else. You really should give it a go.

This is a very unassuming cafe of rather basic appearance, which we would have walked past but for the reviews on here. We only had coffees, but the waiter was friendly and the coffee was good.

Dropped on this café by accident... that was a stroke of luck...service was exceptionally friendly and courteous; the café I think Chinese but you can get a selection of English dishes, sides, snacks and full Chinese menu; very clean and great service.

Stumble across this place by accident.. what a surprise to find out they serve breakfast all day and Chinese. I ordered special chow mein and it was delicious, so much so I returned with my husband three days later and he loved it. I recommend stopping by and trying the chow mein.

What a surprise. We called in for breakfast, and realised they serve Chinese food too! Breakfast was really nice and the staff were lovely, we did return in the evening but sadly it was closed. Would recommend a visit here all the same.

Snug between a betting shop and a Greggs the Cambridge Cafe has bright red and white plastic table cloths and a laminated menu containing all the usual cafe food and drink but look a little closer and you will find what appears to be a chineese takeaway menu printed on a sheet of A4. This is the great thing about the Cambridge Cafe, it is a family run Chineese restaurant disguised as a greasy spoon cafe. The service is excellent, portions generous and the quality of the food as good as any we have had from any Takeaway. Plus this arrives freshly cooked and served to your table within a few minutes of ordering. They even do the washing up. We only tried the Special Chow Mien, a meal in itself but the other dishes we saw looked excellent. Many customers seemed to be regulars who appreciate good food at a reasonable price.

We had another fantastic visit over the bank holiday weekend, thank you! They are always accommodating. We will be back.

Looked for a local café as opposed to the overpriced eateries which abound in Harrogate. Warmly welcomed. Could have chosen either Chinese or anything from the English menu. Had veggie breakfasts as it was around lunchtime (we aren't veggies but it sounded good). These arrived quickly and had been freshly cooked. Tasty as anything! Party of 9 students arrived and were squeezed in. Place is bigger than it looks from the outside. Obvious that the locals all go here, as there was a good mix of locals and visitors like ourselves. Not surprised as it offers speedy service, good choice of food, tables cleared quickly, and lots of smiling, pleasant staff. What more could anyone want? It's certainly very well managed. Next visit to Harrogate, I know where we'll be heading. Just sorry it wasn't open later, as we'd have returned for a further meal early evening before theatre. Value for money, good food, and great staff - what's not to like?

We enjoyed a lovely lunch, the rice was delicious and the sweet and sour chicken great. The jasmine tea was refreshing too. The staff were pleasant and efficient and paying attention to cleanliness, wiping down the high chairs for children etc. Highly recommended!

On a short break in Harrogate, we called in at the Cambridge cafe for a coffee. We had not looked at the menu so did not realise that this is in fact a Chinese restaurant! We were warmly welcomed and our coffee arrived quickly.

We had free time in Harrogate and wanted somewhere to eat, we called in and we were so pleased we did, the service was excellent and the food was lovely, my friend and I both had an omelette and my other friend had scampi, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and it was so reasonably priced, nothing was too much trouble for the young man that served us. Would definitely recommend this cafe.

From the outside and to be honest, the inside, you would quite easily walk past this place. The decoration is minimal with plastic table clothes but looks can be diseving. The Café serves both English and Chinese food with quite an extensive menu. We opted for Chinese but you could easily order from both. The food was cooked freshly to order as we could hear the frying in the kitchen. It arrived promptly and was piping hot. My husband doesn’t usually enjoy Chinese food but even he was very impressed with the dishes we ordered. They had flavour and were good portion sizes. Most of the curry style dishes come with rice which was an added bonus. Staff are friendly and the prices are very reasonable. It is only open until 6pm but if you fancy a late lunch, definitely give this place a try. Looking forward to returning.

We went to the Cambridge Cafe just looking for an after coffee and tea. We found these but the cafe also offers Chinese cuisine throughout the day as well as traditional cafe food. We had a sausage sandwich and cheese on toast, both very nice, but we liked the look of other client's Chinese food and wished we had tried it as well.

Every time my Husband and I visit Harrogate, we eat at the Cambridge Cafe. My Husband doesn't like Chinese food, but I love it. So that fact that they not only serve up the most delicious chinese food, they also serve English food. So we are both happy. The premises are a little bit basic, but the food is excellent

On the outside this looks like your typical cafe, and it doesn't have that much to attract you inside. Even inside the decor looks & feels dated. The cafe does indeed serve your typical English cafe food, including things like fish finger sandwiches, but the surprise is that they also serve a very extensive and good Chinese menu. I had sweet & sour chicken with fried rice, which was lovely, the Chinese soups also looked really appealing. The food was extremely tasty, the value for money is excellent, and the service was very good indeed. Next time I'm in Harrogate I'll definitely be making a return visit to the Cambridge Cafe.
