Awkward welcoming and no personality from the workers what so ever… the cakes are dry and flavorless, buttercream is like hard lard and the cheesecake and banana pudding are whipped and not good at all… no thanks.

Never ever in my life will I go back there she ain’t know what she was doing for one two she didn’t let us know she didn’t have all the ingredients until she got done making the milkshake she didn’t use any gloves and she acted confused when we gave her our orders

Best Sandwiches in Highland Park

I was not going to post, as I initially was not too annoyed, but after speaking with a friend I am going to... I usually come in once a week to order, and it's usually a wait around 10 to 15 minutes, even if I call in to order ahead. Normally, I do not mind waiting, but today was it was a bit different. I placed my order around 11:45 a.m., I was told it would be about 20 minutes, so I got there in around 35 miutes, just to give them extra time. It was explained that there was a big order in front of me; that's okay. But my order was still not ready. I waited another 5 minutes for the sandwich, but was told that my fries would not be ready for another 10. So I said that would be OK and I left and came back around the 10 minute mark. A total time of just about an hour. The cashier was super apologetic and offered me two cookies for the wait, which I appreciated, as the store is always pretty busy. However, it would have been nice if maybe any management was there to simply apologize, as well. Because after all, we are spending our money AND time to support this business. I will say that I'm going to continue to support this business because the food is GREAT and it is a small business. But please, for those of us who are coming in on lunch breaks, give us more accurate timing. Today kinda saddened me a lot, as I would have gladly waited 40 minutes to come once; rather than coming the first time after giving you extra time to prepare the food and coming back for the second piece of my meal.

I took one bite and thought to myself, that I NEEDED to take the picture BEFORE I consumed the biscoff cheesecake in less than 40 seconds, lol. My first time coming, and will definitely be back at least once a week. Edit: Each time I come, it gets BETTER. Been coming at least once a week, as said...and I finally ordered a sandwich. The classic. It was the best sandwich I've had in a long time! This is my favourite new secret spot. You guys have a great niche for good food and delicious dessert.

My daughter's father bought her Birthday cake from here this year. We were beyond pleased with the Strawberry Crunch cake. Absolutely mouth watering delicious!!!! I have been coming here since they opened up and they still have arguably the best shakes in the city. The ladies here are always professional and provide the best service. I drive from the deep east side hoping I can catch them before they close. I love the Strawberry shortcake shake and peach cobbler shake!

We had the best time and experience here on 6/18/2021.. The shop is cute and intimate, with a variety of different options for a sweet tooth fix, which included options for non-dairy enjoyment.. Have great staff, and we were also greeted by the owner as well. Very welcoming environment, felt like family while there.. We will definitely be back soon

So far I’ve only had their cake. The first time it was very delightful. The second time it seem as they changed their vendor or another cook made the cake because it wasn’t edible. And they seem to always have an attitude. Doubt I’ll be returning for a 3rd time.

My son has wanted to try this place since November. We pass it going to his Nana's. So today we came and ordered the strawberry milkshake, banana pudding and rum cake. My son has already asked to go back and he's not finished with his shake yet. The banana pudding is so light and refreshing, it's definitely homemade. The rum cake was for Nana but I'm sure it was just as amazing. This place so cute and the staff was friendly. Never expected to find such nice place in Highland park 🤷‍♀️.

Finding just about everywhere shut and feeling very hungry. I popped into Cakes n Shakes and ordered the Curry.I asked if they did half n half...half chips and half rice to my surprise they did.Within minutes, my curry arrived.And oh my ...tasty is an understatement.Delicious. .plentiful..and had the best of both worlds...so to speak. Just on the off chance. We called in for something to eat. The day had been an unusal one to begin with. We then decided to go to see Brian at Cake n Shakes Bistro. On arrival we were greeted with smiles from pleasant staff and Brian.Again..we were offered Orange Juice. Delicious and what a great start.I ordered the mid Breakfast and my wife ordered the Onion Gravy, Sausage and Mash and now with Mushy peas. And mug of tea each to finish off.Superb Breakfast. . Good quality products and served with care. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Onions n Gravy and Sausage n Mash and Peas. We both fully enjoyed our visit from the start with Fresh Orange Juice.. Meals..Mugs of tea.. Brilliant Service as always.Our day vastly improved from then on.Its apparent the Cafe is doing well with some specials sold out. Excellent news for Brian and his staff. Long may it last for them.Looking forward to our next visit soon.Sam B.

My wife and I decided to try out the newly refurbished Cafe on its debut opening day Wednesday 9th August.Firstly, didn’t disappoint. To see the transformation, you wouldn’t recognise what was once a tired looking cafe, the cafe looks clean, fresh and just the ticket and may i be so bold to say, looks the business.On arrival, we both were offered a glass of fresh orange juice and little did we know, it was free, not sure if that will be a lasting thing but at the time very refreshing.We were welcomed by warm friendly staff and by the owner, which wasn’t done by the previous owner, however, we ordered two teas and for our meals, my wife ordered Sausage and Mash with onion gravy, myself, i ordered the slowly cooked Beef in a giant Yorkshire pudding. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, my wife was very happy to taste proper creamed Mash and not the tinned Smash, the sausages were tasty and of good quality, which makes all the difference. We took our daughter and as she recently had eaten, she was sharing her Mums dinner, again the staff offered and gave us a separate plate which made things easier, which I thought was nice, our Daughter wolfed her dinner down. Maybe we should of ordered a meal for her, next time we will.My slow cooked Beef was served with Carrots and Onions, and sat inside a Giant Yorkshire Pud, delicious and plentiful. Fantastic value for money.We will be going again soon, I may attempt the large breakfast, I did see one being served and I kid you not, it looks BIG.Well done Brian and your staff, we wish you all the very best on your new adventure.Sam B.
