Just had a three night stay with my wife and dog. We had a loch side room with decking overlooking the loch. Can’t fault the room or the hotel. All the food was excellent and freshly cooked. You may have a bit of wait at breakfast time but worth it. All the staff were great and the locals were very friendly and easy to strike a conversation with. Our dog was made welcome by all. Thank you from a very recharged couple and dog.

We are long term caravan owners in Lochgoilhead and like to eat around the whole Argyll and Bute area. Would normally go rushing past to Inveraray but this time we made a detour and had lunch at the StageCoach Inn. First impression is the hotel might be closed as too many entrances and not enough signage shouting we are open. Remove those chairs and cushion in that front porch ya dafties. But get past that and there is a very affordable full menu with something for everyones taste. I am writing this after our second visit in the space of two weeks. The food, welcome and service were all top notch and the images posted are from today 19th Aug. Yes the hotel is a bit older and bit tired but there are so many new places opening now that are all bells and whistles and fancy modern but you will pay for it. Wee snug bars and restaurants like this are fast disppearing and so if you want a good bit of scran at an affordable price in a beautiful location look no further. Many thanks to the StageCoach inn. No need to go to Inverarary.

Called in for a meal and we're blown away by the fantastic food superb staff and glorious location. Just a short detour off the A83 as you travel towards Inverary. Worthy of a detour which would have been the original road in the dim and distant past. Right on the shore of Loch Fyne. Intend to stop over next time. We found the food prices very realistic.. Can't fault it.

We came here to eat whilst holidaying nearby. Unfortunately, we were incredibly disappointed with our experience. It's important to note that the bar and service staff were incredibly friendly and can't be faulted. However, the food we received should not be served to paying customers and should definitely not be considered as pub/restaurant standard food. It was quite evident that everything on all of our plates was frozen and nothing was homemade. The burger was half the size of the cheap bun it was served on. It came with no sauce or salad inside, was incredibly dry and included a measly ration of bacon that may as well have not been there along with some frozen, tasteless chips. The fish and chips (also terrible) claimed to come with tartare sauce - whilst not completely false, the tartare sauce was already on the table in small, service station packets along with the packaged mustard and ketchup (not worthy of a mention on the menu). It was so astoundingly bad, a 10 year old could have put the meals together. We were seated in a very dim, dreary and dated looking room which didn't better the experience. Local ales were also advertised but not available. Again to reiterate, the staff were lovely. However, we will not be returning and would absolutely not recommend eating here.

They are obviously short staffed (like most places) but despite this the service was great and they very friendly and welcoming. The kids menu was great for choice and value. Our main meals were very nice. However, the desserts (with the exception of the ice cream) were awful. The rhubarb crumble looked terrible and tasted even worse. My husband had the sticky toffee pudding but it was visibly dry and he couldn’t cut through the middle of it. It was rock hard! They did change my crumble and took the sticky toffee off the bill. However, the Baileys Creme Brûlée I requested had not a hint of Baileys in it. It tasted very plain (maybe they forgot to add the Baileys).

This is a difficult place to review. The food was good, well cooked, hot and fresh. The menu a little dated, especially in the deserts where it was crumble, sticky toffee or ice cream which is rather old hat. However the food was good and enjoyed. I had the liguini followed by crumble my partner had scampi followed by ice cream. Good home cooked grub. The ambience was lacking, tables sticky with beer or whsyever and the waiting stsff were ok but missed we were booked in and not residents and were surprised when they realised. Civil in all they did but not friendly perhaps because we were foreigners. Would I return? No but likewise I do not regret eating there. Its a stunning location on the lochside if this was in the middle of a town its ambience, poor decor and staff attitude would mean its popularity would not be so good. Yet this coild be a goldmine.

Decided to come here with my Husband and Spaniel for Dinner, as I thought all the reviews were really good. So thought it would be a nice evening out.. well it turned out to be our worst restaurant experience. As we were seated at our table (and not given a menu) the couple sat behind us were just being given their mains. And they asked if it was mains before starters.. The waiter then paused and was like oh your soup. And asked if they could have it after there main.. So not the best start and this is just how the evening continued.. we got our drinks still with no menus. I kept saying to my husband wait 10 more mins and he will bring us the menus.. well 40 minutes later the waiter came and asked us what we had ordered.. I explained we haven't even been given any menus yet. He apologised and offered us free desserts. While this was happening he took the plates away from the table behind us asking them if it was ok. They said there steak was to over done and the waiters reply was but you've eaten half of it .. I also heard someone else complain that they hadn't got there sause. Anyway our food came it was fine although my husband thought his burger had been microwaved. Ate and left as soon as we could not staying for the free dessert. As we didn't want to stay any longer in there. We arrived at 19:40 and left at 21:00 Which is a long time for a main each and a drink each. However when we left the couple behind us still hadn't had there soup or dessert. I'm pretty sure the waiter was drunk and just wasn't taking his job seriously. I can imagine this was just an awful evening for him. But it was terrible! On a good note, he loved our dog woody and I think woody got more attention then any of the customers. Definitely an evening to remember for all the wrong reasons!

Visited on Saturday 29th June with friends, it was a very mixed experience. Starters were pulled pork loaded potato skins and garlic mushrooms. My friend enjoyed her pulled pork my potato skins were in fact wedges with chilli cheese and bacon and the garlic mushrooms didn’t taste of garlic was just mushrooms in a cream sauce that tasted only of cream. Mains were bacon cheese burger, macaroni and chilli. Burger was nice however could have done with being on a bigger plate as everything was a bit squashed. Chilli was good but the portion size was terrible looked more like a kids portion my macaroni was awful was penne pasta in a cream sauce that had absolutely no taste of cheese at all and again was a very small portion. They do have a very extensive menu so maybe this is the issue or we just caught them on a bad day either way I will not be rushing back. Service was okay but could have been better no one checked everything was okay.

Great food but the service was like something out of the Fawlty Towers sitcom with wrong drinks being delivered to tables, and not even to the correct tables.Only a handful of diners were lucky enough to receive the solitary dessert menu board , although that in no way guaranteed that your order would then be taken. One waitress spent more time clearing empty tables and setting them up presumably for the next days breakfast than actually attending to customers. The overheard comment between the staff of " we are a great team" left me astounded. Hopefully last night was a one off as the main course which we did receive was actually very tasty, although I don't think I will be risking a return visit.

We ate here when staying at the hotel. The menu is limited so we ate there the first night out of 4. The restaurant is beautifully located and the food is good but I had 2 (gripes), firstly, the restaurant needs some money spent to give it some character like the Inn and secondly, wheelchair access needs to be improved. Every time a person needed to enter or exit the restaurant they had to go through the curtains where things are stored. It did not involve me but I actually felt uncomfortable at the fact they had to do this. Surely some form of access could be installed at the front so these individuals feel appreciated. Other than that, breakfast is good and you definitely need to give this place a try

We came here for an evening meal as it was recommended by the local B&B we were staying in. We were seated in the conservatory area, with beautiful views over the Loch as the sun was setting and the service we had was superb. We ordered the seafood platter to share as a starter - which caused a little misunderstanding which made everyone laugh and it was quickly put right - it was delicious. My wife had the Lamb and I had the Venison as main courses - they were beautiful as well.Locally produced beer was recommended and was lovely and the service we had could not be faulted.Thoroughly recommended.Thank you for a lovely meal, Ian & Sheila.

Great place for lunch today , have passed it on many occasions and never realised it was there . The food was delicious and the outside area beside the loch was stunning despite the Easter weather.

Must have passed behind this hamlet of a village with its great Inn many times, lovely fire in lounge and quaint bar which still has a water tap on counter but unfortunately not working, plenty of snug areas to sit in if weather is not so good, but fantastic beer garden with tables across the road and friendly staff will bring food over. A great spot to chill and Loch Fyne ale on draught, heaven on earth. Well worth a visit.

Enjoyed evening meals and breakfasts for three days. Bedrooms and public rooms lovely. The locals could not have been more welcoming and helpful with walk recommendations, and just generally making you feel part of a really special community.

No real ale on - and it's in the Good Beer Dundee 2017?!?!. Steak and Ale pie was very good but the burger a bit unusual.

A fantastic little hotel / restaurant / bar situated near Loch Fyne. Rooms were spacious, bathroom amazing, and the food and ales were absolutely fantastic. Would definitely recommend and return to when next in the area.Only minor issue I had was that the shower door in room 2a didn't quite close properly, but the double sized jacuzzi bath was a fantastic alternative.

My wife and I stayed here for the Friday until the Monday, whilst it is Sunday and I am writing this I cannot commend the "cabins" enough, very luxurious and beautiful views out onto Loch Fyne, plenty of things to do and superb facilities, our room had its own spa bath and soaking in that at the end of a long walk was wonderful. The pub itself is friendly, warm and inviting and very nice to sit and cogitate, sitting in front of the open log fire on a cool November evening was a lovely thing to do, then to the food the beer battered cod and chips with mushy peas was very good, the cooked breakfasts are excellent, whilst it may not be to everyone's taste the local black pudding was to die for. Cannot praise the friendly staff enough made our short stay in Scotland and Particularly the Argyll area well and truly special.

Klare Empfehlung!

The stables restaurant is nicely decorated and in keeping the places history. I am sure that if the AA were to rate this restaurant it would easily gain 3 rosettes.

We had originally hoped to stay here as well as eat, but unfortunately confusion over the booking meant this was not possible. However we were able to find a B&B within walking distance and there was availability in the restaurant. Very good service and delicious starters and main courses meant the two of us had a very enjoyable evening at a very good price. Good choice for vegetarians and my meal was delicious.

Every Wednesday since the start of this year we have sought out pubs with character serving good food. The stagecoach inn is one of the nicest we have visited in the West of Scotland. The steak pie was excellent made with short crust pastry, lovely chunks of tender beef in a delightful gravy. We saw other diners having soup, sandwiches and baguettes, and they all looked very nice. Portions weren't huge and prices were slightly dearer than average but the bar area was full of character and the staff were super friendly and very helpful. Huge range of whiskies and a good range of beers and ales.Add on the fabulous view over the loch, which I can imagine on a sunny day is idyllic sitting in the beer garden. The Inn has 18 letting bed rooms which is extremely handy for Inverary and onward to Dunoon. One of the better steak pie Wednesday's that we've had. Check it out.

Have eaten here a few times - have sat inside and out in the beer garden . Service good and friendly with time to chat to customers along the way. Food reasonably priced, wholesome, good choice and well cooked. Lovely place to stop midway between Inveraray and Loch Lomond. Just off the main road so peaceful setting and ideal for a stroll around Ardkinglass Woodland garden and the Gruffalo trail! Close by.

We had booked dinner upon arrival at reception at the hotel for that evening. When we arrived for dinner, they acted as if we hadn't, and were "put out" about it. There were very few diners in the very large restaurant, other than 2 large tables filled with bus tours. We then understood why... My husband's soup was mushroom and chicken; when he couldn't find the chicken, he was told it was pureed with the mushrooms. He was not impressed. We had to ask multiple times for water on the table; staff more concerned about cleaning off tables which were not needed, rather than check back with us on our needs. He ordered the steak, cooked medium, but it came out well-done, dried out, worst ever. Have had better steaks at Golden Corral. We had already waited an extraordinary amount of time for our service, our meal, our drinks... we declined him getting a new one, and left half of the meat and grizzle on his plate. Breakfast buffet was fine, but they did not keep coffee/tea cups readily available, nor glasses for juice. VERY short-staffed as in most places these days. (not those that were working's fault, but they seemed very inexperienced.) We had WONDERFUL meals throughout ALL of Scotland on our honeymoon EXCEPT here. Would not recommend at all.
