so glad you guys came back from the fire it would've been a blow to lincoln to loose such an institution. every meal I've had here is lovely and every non vegan I've brought here has had just as good a time. went for your valentines day lunch and it was the most food ever and all delicious. the mushroom soup was actually one of the best soups I've ever had. whoever decided to put diced pickles on the chicken strips i love you that was the perfect idea. lovely people running a lovely establishment definitely check it out if you haven't!

Great place to eat! There are a lot of gluten free options and both the main courses and dessert were very tasty.

Popped in wanting a coffee, but the atmosphere was lovely so decided to sit in. Really friendly staff, welcoming and knowledgeable. Following a couple of questions, I was convinced to try a hot chocolate. Honestly, the nicest I've ever tasted. Wasn't feeling very adventurous so just had the all day brunch to eat, but it was delicious. If you just want a sweet treat, the Cookie Slice is my recommendation; so good!

My issues are not with the food whilst it has a very limited menu the food was very nice. However the place was small and cramped, the table cloths were dirty and stained and even torn in places Nothing matched with the cutlery and dishes, when they brought glasses out they were a mixture of plain glasses and old beer glasses. Dinning here could be a much better experience if they updated the decor painted and cleaned the place. It had the feel of a dirty backstreet cafe from the 60s or early 70s (for those that can remember that far back) As I have said the food was limited but very nice, if this was a slightly larger place with modern crisp clean decor it could be a gold mine

Can't recommend this place enough. A cafe with great ethics and great food. I had a vegan korma curry with banana in it. Sounds weird, tastes divine. My wife had the vegan breakfast, which was gargantuan. Will definitely be back. I remember when this place first opened in a different location. I went for a meal with friends and enjoyed it very much. The venue was very small but cosy and the food was absolutely delicious Therefore I decided to go back. As much as I enjoyed my first visit, this much I disliked the second one. It was freezing cold outside, me and my partner was looking for a warm place to sit and enjoy vegan food so I said " cafe shanti". The venue did not impress me at all, the design was very outdated. It doesn't look clean and inviting. We could choose to sit downstairs or on the first floor and we went upstairs, unfortunately. I was shocked, but the place did not have any hitting, what's more, it has single-glazed windows. It was freezing cold. For all that time we stayed, I was shaking and my hands were literally ice cold and we did not take off our coats even for a second. I ordered a hot tea to warm up, but it didn't help. The food was delicious. The burger with the addition of mac & cheese was smashing. The menu was so different from what I remembered though. I would expect more Nepalese cuisine rather than other. It is a mix of everything right now which is slightly disappointing. Although the portions and the taste were absolutely fantastic, but from the cold I forgot to take a picture of it though. Surprisingly the only hitting, which was btw portable, was downstairs. We surely won't be coming back soon

Well worth a visit even if you’re not vegetarian. The menu is varied with options to suit all tastes. You can sense the care and passion Mel and Jo’ have for the food they prepare. The setting is small but homely and welcoming. I’m new to Lincoln but am sure that I’ll be back.

Lovely vegan cafe in Lincoln. Beautiful decor, welcoming vibe and staff, plenty of tables with the addition of the upstairs area. An extensive menu, reasonably priced with generous portions and best of all, totally vegan - how relaxing to choose without checking! Highly recommend a visit and all their food but especially the Mac n Cheeze 👌 we travelled a long treacherous way in freezing fog today and it didn’t disappoint 👏 💚

Loved this homely little cafe/restaurant. Definitely worth a visit and I would happily go back to try other dishes. The falafel salad was the best I've ever had and is packed with flavour. The banana korma was nice but I couldn't taste any Indian spices which I expected it to have as it is called a korma. Also, I found it too sweet and it's crying out for more umami flavour. The garnishes of banana crisps and chutney unnecessarily add to the sweetness. The cooking of the rice could also be improved. The owners are very lovely.

This has always been my favourite place to eat in Lincoln, and holds itself to the quality it had with the previous owners. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and the food is always lovely. A place to enjoy for vegans and non vegans alike.

Took my daughters here for dinner before a trip to the theatre, which is handily directly opposite. I chose it because my daughter is lactose intolerant so it was fabulous for her to be able to choose anything on the menu without worry. The food was excellent, all three of us throughly enjoyed our choices of mains, sides and desserts, and the staff were super friendly and efficient. An excellent dinner in lovely surroundings with great people. We’ll be back.

Such a lovely welcoming space. My friend and I spent 4 relaxing hours there yesterday trying out a selection of teas, all delicious. Perhaps mist importantly, my wee pooch was made really welcome and was even given his own cushion to sit on. The shanties experience is definitely high on my agenda for a repeat visit. Now my favourite place to chill out ✌️

Even if you're not vegan, give this cafe a try, the food is delicious 😋. There's a good selection of snacks, mains, desserts and drinks. There's a good selection of ice cream, I've tried 2 flavours and they are delicious. Last time I tried the tofu tikka and it was delicious, it came with a nan bread, poppadom and mango chutney. This time I had the chilli, delicious too. The service is fast and friendly. The portions are a good size and the prices are very reasonable. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the menu!

Super lovely place, very welcoming. Had a late supper there with my vegan daughter. Fully vegan menu - I had the (not) chicken burger, chips, guacamole dip - and a very minty lemonade. There is a small downstairs area and a newly installed cosy upstairs area which suited us very well.

Made a special trip to Cafe Shanti during our holiday as we saw how well reviewed it was - and the great GFVG options they had - and it did not dissapoint! It was a highlight of the trip tbh. Got chatting with one of the owners and she was fantastic, warm, Friendly and accomodating, so sad we did not her her name, or the young guy that also served us. The food, service and atmosphere were just spot on for what we wanted and so glad we managed to get in. Also - just incase you see this, was nice to chat to the couple on the next table (Nathan and partner from Boston). Would highly reccomend! Hope to one day rerurn even though its halfway up the country for us.

Went to this amazing place Saturday evening. Was greeted by Mel who was very lovely and looked after us so well. I've visited here before but not since Mel and Jo have taken it over. The place is so nice with a great relaxing atmosphere and the food was fantastic! I was very impressed with the menu. It had something for eveyone and very reasonably priced. If you've not been you definitely have to give it a go!

Having a dairy allergy means I miss certain foods. When I looked at the menu online there was so many dishes I was excited to have again. We had the small plates but the sizes were large (waitress did say the mac and cheese balls were larger than normal). Food was so nice and filling. I was most excited for the sundaes but I was too full to have pudding so will visit again

We had lunch here today. We ordered 3 meals, and one order to be taken away . All were very tasty, lovely atmosphere, very relaxed. Service was great. Will visit again .

Incredible Vegan Burger. Amazing place.

Myself and my daughter used to visit shanti and thought it was good wholesome homemade food all fresh and healthy. we were a bit disappointed today as we waited 30mins for drinks and 45/50 mins for food. (They did apologise for long delay, but there wasnt hardly anyone downstairs and we were sat alone upstairs) My daughters hotdog was completely smothered with mustard and ketchup you couldn't see the bread itself, we had to wipe alot off.. my chicken burger was dry and tasteless like a cheap version, chips were definitely not home made. Smoothie was amazing best 1 I've ever had.. staff very friendly and asked my opinion but still charged full price with half meals eaten... don't get to go out alot with money problems so was a bit deflated when we left... sorry.

Lovely friendly little vegan cafe, very colourful with fantastic tasty food, well worth a visit for something a little different. Had the loaded chips followed by a very delicious ice cream sundae. A good varied menu of food to choose from.

We visited on a Monday lunch time with no need to book. We had the two curry dishes which were tasty and the mac n cheese balls which were really good! Lovely to have a choice of different vegan hot chocolates, smoothies and milkshakes. A lot of choice on the menu. The two ladies working were attentive and polite. Maybe the place lacked a bit of atmosphere but that's only because it was quiet in there. Great to have an all vegan restaurant!

We came for my birthday. We had been before but not since the new owners took over. I brought a load of usual “meat eaters” . We orders most of the starters all of which were amazing. We then had a mixture of burgers, dogs and curries. Everything was delicious. Great for big eaters. The staff were amazing, friendly, patient and attentive. Will defo be going back - even with our non veggie pals! What a wonderful place - defo recommend it to anyone wanting tasty, ethical food in a chilled environment - thank you Shanti xxx

We eat here semi regularly. The food is excellent vegan comfort food. Flavourful and filling. The staff and atmosphere is friendly and welcoming to all. They will also help you if you are feeling unsafe when out and about. They are a business that really lives their ethos of kindness and inclusion.

Such a cute, cosy, boho atmosphere here and very reasonably priced! I ordered the Mac and Cheeze Balls and a coconut iced latte (pretty sure they do most mull alternatives) and both were delicious. I loved the Balls as they’re something different and unique, as most Vegan Restaurants solely do just burgers it’s nice for a different option. Staff are lovely and friendly as always, really accommodating and friendly environment. Will definitely be returning h for more of their ice cream and another coffee.

First visit under the new ownership and wow! It’s so light and airy it’s fab! 👏👏👏 The food didn’t disappoint either! 😋 VERY attentive staff and nothing was too much trouble despite us sitting upstairs 😍 Very hot day but I bagged a seat next to the open window and was rewarded by a lovely cool breeze. ✔️ We had 2 different burgers 🍔, loaded fries 🍟 and a falafel 🥙 salad. Was really tasty! Oh and as my husband LOVES onion rings we had a portion of beer battered ones and they were delicious. 🧅 No room for a dessert 🧁 unfortunately so we’ll have to go back soon to try one of their amazing vegan ice cream sundaes! 😃 You don’t need to be vegan to eat here you’re not missing out on flavour that’s for sure. 😉

A much later review than intended as we visited back at the beginning of March. This is not the first time that we have frequented café Shanti, as we've been many times before when it was under the previous ownership. This was the first time since Mel had taken over and what a fabulous visit. The venue itself has undergone a fabulous update and now boasts a wonderful upstairs seating area. The café which has always had a great atmosphere now also feels more open which adds to the dining experience. We were unfortunately seated right by the door which meant we were a little colder than I'd have liked and obviously as people came in and out it was a little on the chilly side. This is the reason for the score of three on atmosphere as I'm sure there are other tables where you'd feel much more comfortable, but with the cool March weather, the seating location just wasn't ideal for a romantic dinner for two. We'll enjoy revisiting and trying out other locations though. Regardless though the new menu was good, with plenty of options and the food we chose delicious. We were served by Luke who had not long been with the team, but who was working hard to learn the ropes and made efforts to ensure we were well fed and watered. As luck would have it we also managed to get time to chat to Mel who was working her socks off in the kitchen as well as aiding with some of the service too - she's a super woman! Mel was very friendly and welcoming and considering how busy she was, kindly took the time to speak to us, which was a real pleasure as you can see how much she cares about the business, the service they offer and the customers who come through their doors. Her enthusiasm is infectious. She was actually also competing in a dance competition that weekend, so we hope she had a great time and the routine went down a storm! The place, the food and the people are great, very knowledgeable about the food they sell and able to cater or tweak for different food requirements (I'd still advise calling ahead if you've a very specific dietary requirement though just to give them more chance to accommodate you) highly recommended and we'll definitely be back. We used to go often under previous ownership and really enjoyed the range of healthy and diverse meals. The meal we had lacked any balance. My advice would be to add more vegetables and balance to your meals. However, the staff were very polite.

The food was nice, but service slow, tables full of dirty dishes, many of the menu items unavailable. My nachoes came without guacamole as they had run out, but didn’t say so when I ordered.

Amazing food, friendly and helpful staff, great selection of vegan meals. We all loved our options, including our quite fussy younger daughter. Our little dog was welcomed like royalty with a beautiful cushion and treats! I’d highly recommend it.

Straightforward menu with mainly comfort food: burger, chili, falafel, mac and cheese, loaded fries etc. The restaurant itself is cramped and when we were there it was a bit draughty, we sat downstairs near the door though. I think sitting upstairs might have been better We ordered chili, a burger and onion rings, with a coffee and iced tea. Overall the food was average, nothing to complain about but also nothing special. The exception being the rice which was served with the chili which was very overcooked and the texture of rice pudding. The staff were friendly enough but it's not a place we'd return to.
