Cafe Santa Maria in Crawley

It was early in the morning and it was the only place open so I decided to get a baguette and hot chocolate. As soon as I walked in, I noticed the miserable atmosphere and it did not look much like a cafe. Behind the till was alcohol, lollipops, toys and stuff you would not see in a cafe. The bread was soft and tasted out of date and the hot chocolate was not stirred at all. It was basically like hot water with a sprinkle of chocolate. It’s safe to say that I will never be going there again.

Staff are very friendly ice been a customer for more than 15 years and always found the food to be excellent. The staff and owners to be friendly and never once have I had food poisoning from their chips. But then I don't write bad reviews because I've tried to use my status as a "reviewer" to get free food

Go somewhere else. My purse was stolen and the owners are not fit to run a business.

My colleague kindly took me here It was busy which is a good sign We had hot drinks and bacon baps which were freshly cooked massive bun,I’d definitely go back I wouldn’t say we waited long but I like my food freshly cooked 👍👍

I had a cheeseburger and chips here with a friend and the burger was fine but the chips were disgusting they were not edible enough to eat as you can taste it's either been swimming in oil or the oil wasn't cleaned or they recooked it but definitely tastes of oil and this was so disgusting neither of us could eat it and it had to be wasted as I could get food poisoning from.the way it's cooked please don't make your chips like this as I actually like this cafe the food is usually very good but the fact of one simple food hygiene issue with the way the chips are cooked has put me off. I hope you read this as I am trying to prevent you getting further complaints and a visit off environmental health for food hygiene and food safety

Poor customer service, wrong food delivered, woman coughing her guts up down the phone couldn't careless and said not our problem claim for a refund when blatantly it was their error putting the incorrect order in to a bag which had the itemised items on. Will not order from them again.

Great food, quick service and one of my favourite places to eat in Broadfield. Recommend to anyone who would like to try some Portuguese food.

Asked for 3 toast and double checked that there was three toast as I saw him write 2 also asked for a sausage tomato and egg breakfast sandwich, I ended up with 2 toast and the sandwich had fresh tomato instead of tin tomato, when I asked a member of staff if I could just add tomato as I can see the error I had to pay for a new sandwich as they couldn't add to this one. Shame as the sandwich seemed like it was OK before terrible service

I HIGHLY recommend the Prego. This is a meal in a traditional bun like bread. My favourite is the beef. Its a seriously tender fried steak. Cooked to perfection every time. Also served in the burger bun is a fried egg, slice of cheese, salad and a slice of ham. You can also choose Chicken or Pork as your main meat. But for me, it's beef steak every time. No other beef burger comes even close to this. 😘 Thank you to the owners of this family run cafe/restaurant. Mark

Dual-purpose business: it’s a café and also a Portuguese shop. The café does a lovely Full English breakfast, generous portions and reasonably priced, and the pasteis de nata (custard tarts) are delicious too!

Great cafe with great staff! The staff make this place so amazing, they become like family. Being here for so long and knowing all their customers is amazing. Food is reasonably priced, the portions are large, coffees are always fresh.

After the chinese shop tried to mug me with an £18 min spend i cane here.... My god i don't regret it... This burgers absolutely 👌 and about 13 cheaper then minimum spend at the chinese 👌👌🤘🤘

Asked for vegetarian sausage and asked if its cooked separately to wich the women replied no they are cooking in the same fryer with the meat. Not acceptable you can not call something vegetarian if its cooked in meat oil just don't bother offering vegetarian if that's what your doing. I have worked in hospitality for 12years and this is my first time seeing or hearing this kind on nonsense.

Disappointed. Ordered a N10 breakfast threw deliveroo and recieved food poisoning, as a result of that I've been off work for a whole week. Will not order from here again. First time customer and last time customer.

I absolutely love the food here, and I irder online frequently. But twice in the past few days, I've had to walk put before my other was taken. First time took so long for someone to serve me, even though I was next in the queue. The guy even let 2 people sneak in front of me which I wasn't happy about. Today I was waiting ages to be served again, whilst 2 people were stood behind the counter, chatting to each other, and paying no attention to people waiting. Great food, bad customer service. Sort it out

Typical cafe with all the usual breakfast offerings, plus a good selection of main meals, it's run by a family from Madeira so has some Portuguese offerings as well, try the beef prego for a change to your usual burger, it is licensed and has a nice selection of cakes, excellent coffee and all at fair prices. Delivery also available via uber eats, deliveroo and just eat

They do the best hot chocolate there and there food is great and good prices

My brother and I went here for breakfast, we took 2 n10 breakfast menu. The breakfast was lovely. The guys are really nice. The food was great. I give 4 stars only because we both felt cold in the restaurant, it's a busy place and the door is open quite often but I don't like to eat with my coat on. The good side is that I left my bag there and they kept safe for me

Great stop for breakfast - wish I’d come sooner. Lovely atmosphere, homemade food and a friendly welcome. Had the scrambled egg which was lovely and the poached egg on toast, which was good.

We had the prosciutto platter to start, it was really good. Ordered seafood risotto, mushroom risotto, fettuccine with bolognese sauce, and carbonara. All were great. Highly recommended.

Nice little Portuguese cafe. The food is delicious and the coffee too. You can find Portuguese food on the shelf and refrigerator too. Service is very good! Nothing pretentious.
