Cafe Paninis in West Dorset

Perfectly cooked full English. Price included generous cappuccino. Airy and clean cafe. Modern tables and chairs. Friendly efficient staff. Value for money.

I have visited this cafe a lot of times over the years and have always found it to be excellent. Today however it was certainly not. A young tall boy behind the counter totally blanked me. I was deliberately ignored for about 4 mins while he slowly arranged a tray of crockery right in front of me while I stood waiting at the counter. He did not say a word as I waited and then he disappeared into the kitchen. At this point i gave up and we found another cafe down the road. Such a shame as this was once a great cafe with great staff. He really needs a lot of training, he does not have a clue.

The very aggressive dude (youngish, tall, light brown hair) behind the counter ‘urgently’ requires training in better customer service ! Oh boy, what a poor attitude he has. A customer next to me queried an item on the menu but the silly dude insisted on arguing in front of at least twelve other customers ! It beggars belief why. The priority of most restaurants is to deliver good food and service, not possible with that silly dude in charge :-(( The lady manager (long dark hair) was superb throughout, she deserves a medal for putting up with her colleague. The food was excellent, no complaints at all, I may well return on his day off, but the good experience is ruined by his poor aggressive ‘I will win the argument’ attitude. I hope management reads this and disposes of him asap, they will lose business ! Cannot recommend.

I've been to Hendover several times for breakfast so I had high hopes for the Christmas party menu and they did not disappoint! We were greeted with a very warm welcome and a glass of prosecco, the food was delicious and there was plenty of it and the staff were very attentive throughout. All topped off with a lovely coffee to finish. The food and wine is reasonably priced and the servie alone makes it worth a visit! Would highly recommend for Christmas parties. Thank you Hendover :)

We had our Christmas Celebration lunch for 30 of us yesterday and it was outstanding! Everyone ordered from the Christmas lunch menu where every course and selection was delicious. The staff were kind, friendly and welcoming too. We would all certainly recommend this venue!

Hendover café, A full English breakfast is not a full English breakfast as you can see from the pictures. My wife had the full English, 1 sausage 1 egg 2 bacon half a tomato mushrooms and toast. I had changed my order to have 2 sausages 2 eggs 2 bacon and beans and had to pay extra for the beans sausage and egg + 1 tea and 1 coffee. Total bill £33.60 and didn't even get hash browns. Next day we had the breakfast from a restaurant in weymouth and even the standard breakfast had more on offer and the large breakfast was about the same as the hendover and better quality. PRICE £25.20 with drinks. Hendover café needs to review their breakfast and prices. As feel very ripped off and still hungry.

Excellent place for drinks and food, lovely clean place , friendly staff, good choice of items on menu, I had hot chocolate it was absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend. Definitely would return.

I’ve been here today with my son and was absolutely gob smacked to be charged £9.95 for a child’s breakfast. I feel totally ripped off and will never go here again.

Each time we visit Dorchester, we call in to have coffee here. One day we`ll be very adventurous and have a meal. The coffee and biscuit were delicious. The staff are always welcoming and the "proprietor" has a good sense of humour. It is a delight to go each time as you are really valued as a customer. I love the way the cafe is set out and the decor with images of flowers adds to our pleasure. Long may they thrive. I`ve even got to know some members of the family. WONDERFUL!

Me & my husband popped in for a chicken baguette & cream tea which we both shared, baguette was very nice with nice crisps, little dressed salad garnish, a fruit scone, jam & clotted-cream, with a strawberry, a nice touch! Mug of tea had a nice biscuit on the side, nice touch too! All in all nice food, good service as they were busy, Bank Holiday Monday. We will definitely go back at some point.

We found This cafe after arriving by train in Dorchester for a day trip. The bright, fresh interior attracted us, and the bright, smiley welcome from staff made it even better. The smiley man was very apologetic, saying the kitchen was closed, but we could still have drinks and cake...well, one look at the cakes and we were hooked. Our choice of cakes and coffee were soon at the table, with another apology, this time because his colleague had "got a bit carried away" cutting my husband's slice of cake, a very generous slice! No apology needed. The atmosphere in the Hendover was lovely, we saw some older customers being chatted to, like old friends- maybe they were. What a lovely place! Visited with my elderly mum for Sunday lunch. We both had small plates, the beef was delicious and veg too. Good value. We'll recommend. They even asked us if the meat was OK cos mum doesn't cope with eating meat very well and she had left most of it. But t was very tender and lovely flavour. What a fabulously friendly place. We called in with our dog for lunch and were offered dining in or out. Good choice of meals and drinks at really reasonable prices. After an early start we needed food. Hendover provided it very well. Great full English for me, my wife very happy with her eggs and my son delighted with his scrambled eggs and sausages. Even better, I failed to make clear that he wanted scrambled eggs and when a fried egg arrived the waitress kindly offered to do scrambled. I got the extra fried egg! Highly recommended. One negative, which is why it is 4 not 5, the tables were a bit sticky: a better cleaning product would work wonders as I saw that they are always wiped down after each customer.

I really enjoyed my visit to the Hendover Cafe. We were walking around whilst on holiday in Dorset, looking for a good cafe that offered all day breakfast and we happened to walk past the Hendover Cafe. It looked very inviting, modern and friendly, so we went in.From the moment we sat down we were greeted with a very friendly member of staff, with a smile on his face, which immediately makes you feel more relaxed and happier. We had a look at the menu which is very reasonably priced and another member of the team come to our order. I am a fussy eater so asked for a custom breakfast, which I don’t believe is common, but he immediately said that he could do it for me. It took hardly any time for my tea to arrive with a biscuit on the side, which is a nice touch and memorable… five or so minutes later and our breakfast had arrived. I can honestly say that it was the nicest breakfast that I had whilst on holiday in Dorset, and it set us up for a good day ahead, so a massive thank you to the team at the Hendover Cafe for your friendly, inviting attitude; and obviously your amazing food! I will definitely visit again next time I’m in the area.

This cafe was an oasis on a wet and miserable day, after calling at other large chains along the road and finding them either too expensive or with an hours wait. We were pleasantly surprised to find the Hendover. Just what was needed, very efficient service and the meal was lovely. Thank you.

Found this little gem after googling dog friendly cafes in Dorchester and what a find. We had the Afternoon Cream Tea, which consisted of a large scone, jam, cream & any drink for £3.95, absolute bargain. The scones were warm, we had lattes and the children had hot chocolates. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this place to anybody, friends, couples, family’s and dogs. 5 star review from all 6 of us

Stopped for a light lunch and coffee. The menu is extensive and the food well presented. The scones with the cream tea are large fluffy and tasty. We went as a family of two adults and two teens for lunch on Sunday (not Sunday lunch if you see what I mean) on the way to Weymouth. I think we brought the average age in the cafe down by about 15 years! Everyone without exception having a roast dinner which did look very good.Daughters had soup which was home made and delicious. I had a panini which was tasty and my husband's panini was also really nice. Drinks were good, service was friendly, the cafe was immaculate and we were disappointed we were too full for the lovely looking cakes.Would definitely recommend. Especially if you like roast dinners!

Best reasonably priced breakfast we’ve had in a long time. Coffee really good and hot! My partner hates warm coffee we had full English and fried eggs with bacon on toast. We were given 2 pieces of toast with this and was only expecting one with the included price. Very impressed.

Visited for breakfast on a Monday morning after spending a weekend in Weymouth. There are cafes, good cafes and outstanding cafes. This was outstanding. Staff were efficient and friendly, food was well cooked and extremely well presented. (The only small fault was that the skins on the sausages were quite tough but not a fault of the chef, probably produced locally so not a mass produced item). The bill for four of us was very reasonable especially for the high standard. Would have no hesitation in returning or recommending to others, in fact I will ensure I do visit next time I am in that area.

Wanted a safe socially distanced coffee and I have a dairy allergy. Brilliant on all accounts. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The staff were really attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Our first meal out since shielding. We were wary of what it would be like, but it is so organised and service is so good that any concerns faded. We had the regular Sunday roast beef. We stopped here for lunch during a visit to Dorchester. We had our dog with us,so were looking for somewhere that was dog friendly,we were not disappointed! The service was fabulous,the owner was a great guy.The food was excellent,we had wonderful coffees,mushrooms on toast with feta chunks and salad,with a side of very yummy chips ,followed by more wonderful coffees and 2 huge slices of Victoria sponge cake,we waddled out!! We had breakfast here a few days ago. Unfortunately the food was greasy and incredibly boring with what looked liked pre frozen hash browns. Would not go here again.

Stopped here as it was dog friendly and is quite popular. Food when it arrived was good although not all of our order arrived! This was after they had lost our original order and noticed we hadn’t even received drinks after 35 minutes! Had to reorder second order arrived after we had finished! It’s a shame as all the food going to tables looked good. Definitely worth a try if you are not in a hurry!!

Attracted by the colourful green chairs and hanging decorations, glad we stumbled across this cafe on arrival at Dorchester. Food was great and servers well trained and smiling. Loved the milkshakes which had real fruit. As we paid we had ice cream to go as heard it was homemade. Best ever ice cream! Cardamon and rose and peppermint and lime were both wonderful. To top it all we hadn’t realised we would receive the 50% off deal. Well done all.

I have just returned from a fabulous lunch here with friends. It was recommended to me as being accessible for wheelchairs which is why we chose to meet here. And it certainly was. The food was delicious and the staff, both when I rang to book and on the day, epitomise good customer service. I will definitely return.

We had a lovely lunch with Paul and his team and a very generous wedding party, who let us come in from the torrential rain. We all loved the food and service. Had a really lovely breakfast here with my family. The two guys working were super attentive and I overheard the newer one being introduced to a supposed regular which is a testament to the community vibe of the cafe. Veggie full English breakfast was great; generous portion, mushrooms especially good, the vegetarian sausages were not meat substitutes but actually vegetables which were still nice, though a little unexpected. Great place.

With everything that has been going on this year, to finally get to Dorchester was something I had been looking forward to. This is one of my favourite cafes in Dorchester, and it's good to see that things, whilst they have changed to be in line with social distancing, quality remains as high as it ever has been. Mocha was spot on, and the omelette makes for a surprisingly filling meal, in addition to tasting so good.

The location is perfect - right opposite the market and with a bus stop outside. Nowhere better to have drinks and snacks (or more) while awaiting your bus. My wife likes strong tea and the large teapot was of perfect strength. Not only that, but she was also given an extra teabag just in case. I have never seen that done in a cafe. We also got a fresh shortbread biscuit with our drinks. Such a nice touch. Although we did not eat there I am sure food would have reached the same standard. Highly recommended and I suspect well know to regulars. This was our first visit.

The owner and his staff are lovely; very welcoming, friendly and always have a smile!They are open 7 days a week and do roast lunch every Sunday and an evening meal on the last Wednesday of every month. Booking is advisable. They are dog friendly and always have cold sausages available for your fur baby. Highly recommended.

Lunch here was thoroughly enjoyable with Cod and Chips with a lovely salad that was accompanied by a Palmer's IPA Ale that matched it perfectly.Found it all very good.

Stopped in by chance and although they were fully booked, they found a table for a quick lunch. Had BLT sandwich and also coronation chicken sandwich as well. Our Toddler had jacket potato cheese and beans. Hendover is a beautiful cafe with great service, a lovely vibe and absolutely superb breakfasts. We recently moved to Dorchester and suspect we will spend many long and lazy Sundays here enjoying great food and a fab atmosphere. Dog friendly too which is always makes somewhere special!

This cafe is opposite the market and has disabled access. We had pre ordered and sent in our menu choices but we did have a few changes after that but we were dealt with in good humour and kindness. Went to the Hendover after the car boot on Sunday. The lady who served us was lovely very helpful and polite. I only eat very small portions and she said we can do whatever you want. The breakfast was delicious my partner had the sausage baguette and he said it was fab. Definitely worth a visit.
