Cafe Masala in St Albans

We ordered a takeaway from the here last night, Fri 12th Oct 2018 - it was the best ever!! The phone was answered promptly and very politely.I love lamb but VERY rarely have it as a curry...our friends 'highly' recommended this restaurant and I understand why now!!!I had lamb sag and my partner lamb madras - both absolutely gorgeous and tender.The whole order was excellent!!!My partner picked the ordered up, no wait involved, price as per the menu and we could pay by contactless.Nice touches - the carry bag said Thank You' on...perhaps these days once this stock has ran out the restaurant should think of going to paper bags??And the bar of chocolate inside was a lovely surprise - that was tasty too!!EXCELLENT in every way!!!

Forgot to give me the popadoms, got the extra sauces I ordered for them tho, kind defeats the point

Originally born and bred in London it has been hard finding good restaurants that serve delicious food in decent sized portions.Look no further for your Indian food, it ias amazing and full of flavour and im never let down. Even with delivery the food is hot and fresh and the staff polite and beyond helpful. I won’t buy Indian anywhere else and urge everyone to try New Cafe Masala before any other and you will be hooked!!!!

food tasted Good, but didn't stay warm long. Turned up 20 mins early, maybe they should of taken a bit of time to heat it up and make sure everthing was there. Poppadoms did not arrive but did bring the chutney!!!

Excellent service and delivery was earlier than expected, unfortunately food wasn't the best though. It wasn't 'bad' quality or anything, just didn't taste that good, especially for the price.

Meat in one of the dishes was a bit suspect and delivery was 20 mins late. Other dishes were quite nice but with so much choice I won't be ordering from here again.

Keema naan was a joke - a tiny, tiny piece of meat.. however, the Chicken Bangalore was supreme! I normally feel let down when I try something new from the "house specials" menu at most restaurants. But this restaurant definitely knows what it's best dishes are.

Driver polite and friendly, food arrived hot and 5 minutes early and best of all it was absolutely delicious - best Indian I've had for ages. Can't recommend it enough.

Lovely Indian food in a relaxed atmosphere. Children welcome and very friendly staff. Basic Indian dishes plus some unusual ones for the more adventurous. Very good value for money. Would definitely recommend.

Food was fantastic as always however the restaurant changed the delivery time from my requested time and then the food arrived 25 minutes after the revised time which was a little disappointing

Delivered on time, good food but forgetting my onion bhaji!!!! That's £3 they've made out of me and my favourite part of my meal. I'm disappointed.

Food all in all was very good. Fresh and tasted like most was cooked to order - fluffy rice and hot buttery naan. Tandoori chicken was a little dry but would definitely use again

Quality yet again ... I was pleasantly surprised by their take on kebab roll,strange looking but tasted so good and again the rogan curry was super but then too top it off the naan bread was perfect also well done too the delivery guy getting it here piping hot n fresh thank you

Hands down best naaan bread I've ever tasted maybe I was lucky but mine was faultless the curry the kebab weren't far off either I could tell the chef put in a fine effort so it helps that' the driver can get it here in good time which he did many thanks I will return

I actually really enjoyed the meal, however the bhaji's were a little too greasy.

Food was phenomenal and delivered 25mins earlier than the estimated time. New Cafe Masala, you're great!

Best takeaway in this area. The staff were lovely and polite unlike most Indian takeaways in this area; portion sizes were massive and delicious; delivery was prompt. I have found my new favourite takeaway.

Lovely food, the Saag Paneer was great, as was the Tarka Daal, the Aloo Gobi could have had slightly more flavour. Overall, scrumptious food!

Descubrimos este lugar hace unos meses, y lo que es un descubrimiento. No es especialmente grande, pero no hemos encontrado dificultades para conseguir una mesa en ella. La comida es sorprendentemente bueno; fácilmente la mejor comida india en St. Albans. Mi anfitrión es amable y el servicio de comida para llevar es excelente. Cuando he pedido una comida para que descubra conjunto siempre temprano para una cerveza y una natter en el bar.No puedo recomendar este hotel lo suficiente.

I love this place. The food is absolutely delicious. Every time I have ordered and requested a time they have been spot on. The food arrives piping hot and I honestly cannot eat enough of it. I look forward to my next takeaway from here. One of the best Indian takeaways I have tasted.

Estamos absolutamente para elegir en términos de restaurantes indios en St Albans. En la carretera de Hatfield solo debe haber 5 o 6. Pero dada su proximidad que decidimos darlo Cafe Masala. No nos decepcionó. El restaurante nunca parece que estaba lleno, pero para llevar fue un auténtico sueño - una comida de calidad, un servicio impecable y evidentemente más barato que algunos de sus rivales locales. Siempre es agradable llegar exactamente la misma cantidad de alimentos, en lo más alto si no más calidad, y a pie, con un puñado de cambio unexepcted.Ahora llamada Café Masala nuestra Indian local.

The lamb was very chewy and the samosa was nasty. Was very dissapointing! The onion baji was nice but was like a sponge to Greece. I would not purchase from this vendor again.

Originally from London it's been hard to find a really good Indian, what can I say the food was hot and tasty with good size portions......they were running late and even called us to apologise...seriously the food was excellent and I would definitely recommend every time!!!! Delicious food! Service a little slow but I guess that's because it was peak time on a Friday night - received a courtesy call from them with a delivery update though which was appreciated.

Food was lovely and tasty, plus we got a free bottle of beer. Takes a little longer to deliver, but worth the wait.

This out of town restaurant is generally quiet, relying mostly on home deliveries, but don't be fooled. The food is always excellent and we've been visiting since it opened 12 years ago ... always good tasting food, excellent quality with friendly service.

We have been here many times and it never disappoints. Great food and very friendly service although sometimes a bit slow but worth the wait. A very good Indian without having to go to the city centre.

I've been a regular at Cafe Massala for a long time now.. having tried many other Indian restaurants in St.Albans and elsewhere, Cafe Massala is consistently good. The menu is varied and the chefs will do food that is not on the menu on request. While the restaurant is generally quiet, the staff are always friendly and the food never lets me down. A good range of drinks is also served. A good variety of chefs specials and standard meals, this really is a gem which should be tried. Prices offer good value and a quiet, unrushed eating experience in a relaxed atmosphere makes for a great evening out. Take away service offers the same quality. Highly recommended..

Chicken tikka starter was pretty tasteless, saag paneer was strangely made with coconut making it far too sweet. Disappointed

I've been coming here for a few years now and it is fantastic,friendly owner and great food. The chefs are superb creating dishes not on the menu if requested..highly recommended
