Of the many places to have a light lunch in Portrush we made the mistake of picking Koko. £6 for a chicken gougon wrap no salad or anything on the side just wrap on a small plate. Worst thing was the chicken wasn't cooked. Luckily I cut it in half and saw this otherwise I'd have food poisoning. Wife had a pesto salad had to send it back it was so dry. Disgusted as there are so many lovely cafés in Portrush. Coffee looked good and the view is good otherwise it would have been 1 star

Visited today for takeaway coffee for family of three adults and two children. I was shown two sizes of cups for hot drinks so picked smaller ones for kids and larger for adults. I was amazed when the women said £15.00. So I said are the drinks all the same price and she said yes. So I said well I’ll have all drinks in the larger (normal sized) cups then. All drinks given to me with no lids I had to ask bearing in mind I had already said two were for kids. I ordered four lattes and a tea and I still can’t work out now how it cost £15.00 as the board said the lattes were £2.90. I would assume a tea would been less not same price. Staff so unfriendly and unpleasant especially the lady who took payment. I won’t be back. I have been in KoKo in the past and it’s always been nice place to sit and relax with a coffee. But when things like this happen and you get over overcharged I def won’t be back.

We decided to eat breakfast away from our hotel and I’d noticed Koko to be well regarded on Trip Advisor. When we went in on a damp and windy December morning and it was rammed! A table at the front window became available when my wife was at the counter ordering so I nabbed it. The view is idyllic. It covers the whole of the west strand, the Atlantic and the headland to the west of Portrush. The food was excellent as was the coffee. It can get quite noisy as a lot of mums and their babies tend to head here. That’s no bad thing, it just shows how popular this place is. We will return.

I have always wanted to go Koko and finally made it today. We were greeted by a lovely young gentleman who was pleasant and helpful to everyone ordering food. We just had a tea, coffee and two tray bakes. I have to say the coffee was beautiful and the fifteen was super moist and tasty. As others have said, the view is amazing, however we were surprised to see three dogs with their owners at the word Nd ow seats. Slightly uncomfortable when one of the customers placed a dog feeding bowl on the table and to be honest our table was rather sticky, so we wondered how often they are throughly washed. When the table was cleared, it wasn’t washed. Mirrors, tea pots etc could do with a wash and shine, as just a little ‘rough around the edges’, however, as the service was so lovely and we had no complaints about what we got, I would be willing to try it again. Maybe a spring clean is due any day soon!

Great place for a coffee in Portrush. Fantastic location and if you can get a seat near the window you'll have a panoramic view of the West Strand. Real cosy feel on a cold snd blustery winter's day and on hot sunny days you can enjoy outside seating again with terrific views of the sea, the harbour and surrounding headlands. Coffee is exceptional quality. Dog friendly.

Sitting in Koko writing this review. It’s Sunday mid day. There’s a ‘watery’ sun shining and the white horses are racing shoreward and the gulls are riding high on the breeze. People strolling on the beach enjoying the winters sunshine. Inside it’s warm and cozy. Full of families and friends meeting up. Lots of laughter. Atmosphere fantastic. Had coffee and home made scones both exceptionally good. A little treasure. Reminds me a little of an old fashioned tea shop. Lucky me to be enjoying this with my beautiful wife.

Unwelcoming staff that seem to be all over the place. Can’t handle busy periods well. Selection of treats is poor and not fresh looking nor tasting. Coffee is nice but there is nicer nearby. My biggest problem is that they let dogs into their shop!! They prepare food in the same area as the seating area where dogs are. I don’t think this is allowed, my understanding is that to allow dogs inside a restaurant, food must not be prepared in the same room. So how come you are allowed to have dogs in the cafe? A great spot but needs someone to take it over and give it an update in both style and management. Wouldn’t return

Really lovely food - that stereotypical hipster coffee bar with your avocado on sourdough toast type brunch options. Great service and the views are lovely if you can get a table near the window but I thought it was quite expensive for the portion sizes, at the price I'd have expected 2 slices of toast not 1. Really like the vibe of the place though and it wouldn't put me off going again.

Visited on Wednesday of the Easter week for lunch. When we ordered there were a number of options not available, reason being it was Easter and very busy but I would have thought it would be obvious to have enough food to cater for busier times. The meal cost over thirty pounds for 3 kids and 3 adults. The kids got a ham sandwich which was made from one piece of bread and no butter at all. Mum didn’t get a wrap as they had miscounted the amount of wraps left!! The wraps we got were 6 bites at most. I went back and asked for rest of kids sandwich which I did get. The guy cooking was doing his best but the girl serving just seemed to not really care. Left hungry, disappointed and will not return.

Ever walk into a coffee shop and feel you are interupting staff's private conversation - that's how we felt visiting Cafe KoKo on Saturday 16 March. The cafe was relatively quiet and there was no welcome when we came in. After ordering we had to clear a table ourselves to sit down. Firstly, this place is hidden in plain sight, and looks like part of the Barry's complex. It has one of the best views in town (arguably in Northern Ireland) from its back terrace. The menu is somewhat limited, and if you are looking for something a bit more creative, you wont find it here. Mainly a choice of standard wraps/toasted paninis and a salad, or a tray bake.. That's not to say the food or service isn't good, its just very normal. It gets 5 stars for location.4 for quality of food, 3 for variety. Go for the view and an OK coffee. ALSO no cards accepted presently, which is a big no-no.

I have visited Koko several times and each time I'm there, I always say I'll not be back!!!! The views are top class, great outdoor area (little sun trap in the summer!) but..... the last few times I have been there they seem to run out of stock.... milk, brie, bacon etc. I totally understand this happens... but it has happened to us on at least 3 separate occasions. Also the food is just ok... I ordered a pancake stack as they had ran out of my sandwich of choice. The pancake stack included 3 small pancakes (out of a packet of £1 ormo pancakes) and 3 slices of half cooked bacon!!!! To say I was disappointed is an understatement!!! I just paid £4.75 for this!!!! Even shop bought bakery style large pancakes would have been slightly more appreciated!!! Koko is in a great location and we love the cafe itself for space with a little one and the relaxing atmosphere and that is why we keep going back!!!! But there needs to be a significant change to the food. Unfortunately we will not be back anytime soon

Ah the pancake stacks.... so very delicious with superb coffee and a fantastic view. Staff are friendly, prices are very fair, they cater to children, food delicious. Vital component of a day out in Portrush.

Excellent spot for a coffee in Portrush! The staff were attentive and pleasant, the coffee was great and the food was freshly made to order. I’ll be sure to try the traybakes next time! Thank you.

The stunning views make this cafe ideal in the Portrush/ Coleraine area. The food is delicious and you wouldn't find nicer members of staff who are so helpful!

Coffee ok, dirty windows, toilet not that clean either, table didn't look wiped/cleaned. I had to ask for tray to be taken off table, after we were finished. So sat at a dirty table. I saw a man clearing his own table aswell, didn't appear to be well managed.Friendly enough staff but lacks organisation and the uncleanliness is a real downfall of the cafe. Also had no card machine, cash only.

Lovely little cafe, food and service was great with stunning views. We had paninis which were tasty and well filled and a large pot of tea.

The views are fantastic and the service is fine. The whole place is made from reclaimed wood and looks really great. The coffee was ok but the pancake stack lacked any sort of finesse and was made from shop bought scotch pancakes and the bacon was underdone. The maple syrup was very low quality too. Worth a trip for the views but not the food

We were walking along the harbor in Portrush and had lunch at The Galley Cafe. There is a terrace overlooking the harbor, but it seemed to be a place where people smoked. We decided to eat inside beside a large window. We had a quiche and a ham toastie. They came with French fries and coleslaw and a small green salad. It was very good. The restaurant is inside the Portrush Yacht Club. At first we were not sure if it was open to the public, but it is...

I regularly eat here, Staff very friendly and go that little further even when they are under pressure. Can be very busy in the summer which says something for the service,If you prefer a more intimate establishment then this is for you.It may not be totally wheelchair friendly, regarding toilet facilities,no doubt due to the size of the establishment.

Shenanigans Bar & Restaurantlocation-icon78 The PromenadeOther cuisines

4 of us went there last Saturday night,23/11/19.It was my second time, first time wasn't great. They have a new winter menu, roast beef ,gammon etc.My companions had 2 roast beef ,my wife had the gammon..It all looked so reheated, limp veg etc.Thumbs down from them.I had the Burger, the bun was burnt and the meat inside was badly burnt, cremated to be exact. On the plus side ,the skinny fries were very good. The owner was running about talking to some friends,I didn't know who she was until I had paid the bill.I don't know if this is her first restaurant ,but she was very unprofessional. It wasn't very busy that night,so no excuses, just horrible food, that I could cook better at home.Another thing is, the music in the bar and restaurant is far too loud.If the lady owner is in the restaurant, she needs to get more interactive.
