Cafe Gallo in Edinburgh, City of

Went in on a rainy day and got lucky to sit inside. The staff there are so personable and attentive, you don't get that quality service like this anymore. The breakfast wrap was huge and delightful. We also had a Nutella latte, which is great if you like a mocha. Their hot chocolate leans on Italian, more bitter, less sweet, which is great and on brand in my opinion. Throughout our stay, they had regulars come in for take out, especially their soups. This place is clearly a staple to a lot of people in Stockbridge and we will be back.

What a fantastic little cafe. Not much in the way of seating but the food is just amazing. When I saw the menu I thought it was a bit pricey but when the food arrived it was well worth the money. My breakfast wrap was just packed with everything you would expect (sausage, bacon, black pudding, potato scone, egg) and I was absolutely stuffed afterwards. I would say probably the best breakfast wrap i have had in Edinburgh. The rest of the menu looked equally appetising and I would definitely return to try other dishes. Staff very friendly, service efficient. If you are in the area do try and get a seat in Cafe Gallo.

Incredible wraps and sandwiches! They're a bit on the pricier side, but you get what you paid for. The ingredients are delivious, fresh, and high quality.

Allergy sufferers “don’t bother”, incredibly rude and condescending staff told me “don’t even bother” ordering if you have a nut allergy despite them not even trying to show me the ingredients of their food. Was rudely shot down before even getting a chance to order something else than the wrap I wanted. Clearly no cares for their customers and clearly an unhygienic kitchen that the didn’t want to disclose…

We stopped by this delightful compact cafe after a walk around Stockbridge. We found even as a party of 6, with two small children and a pram, we were warmly welcomed and seated quickly. The service was very attentive and found the choice of sandwiches to be very varied. In particular, the satay wrap and mexican focaccia we ordered were really nice and portions were on the bigger side. The milkshakes were especically good and very thick, compared to many we've tried in the past. Clearly very popular with locals. Overall, wouldn't hesitate to recommend to any tourists with kids in this area.

Small but perfect. Lovely friendly staff, delicious coffee and food. We were lucky to get a seat as it’s cosy! I look forward to returning on my next visit even if it’s for a takeaway.

This is a lovely cafe, with an intimate, attractive atmosphere. The people who own and run it are so friendly and they take wonderful care of their customers. I am almost always on my own and they give me a warm welcome every time. The coffee, tea and food are of a very high standard. Top of my list for cafes in Stockbridge.

Fantastic wee place with great food and coffee, as well as a lovely atmosphere. It's clearly a popular place with locals too, with a steady stream of regulars popping in over the 2 hours or so we sat battling our way through the breakfast wrap - one between two might have been enough, but it was delicious and certainly kept us going for a day walking around Edinburgh.

Café Gallo is such a pleasant spot to grab a bite and some coffee! There’s limited seating outside and a few tables inside with cosy decor and soft lighting. I ordered the Satay wrap which had peanut butter, bbq sauce, brie, chicken and bacon! An unlikely combo of ingredients which turned out to be super satisfying. One thing to note is that they apparently don’t have customer toilets.

It's great to go to an independent cafe. In the lull between showers my partner sat outside experiencing the Stockbridge Riviera. I had a lovely bacon and sausage roll and we had excellent coffees. My dog was well looked after too.

This is one of the best places I found out in Stockbridge area, it’s a small place and maybe you need to wait a little bit to get a table but it worth. They have a varied menu and also a vegetarian options if you are fan. The prices are affordable and the staff is very very friendly. Highly recommended. Sorry no photos, but I can assure you that the presentation was great.

Allergy issues - please address. I'm leaving a good review because I do not think there is a need to criticise your rating over this issue, I just want you to take notice. On three separate occasions I have clearly asked for an item to be both gluten free and dairy free (the satay). All three times I've had one of my allergens remain in the sandwich. I've had to scrape Brie off twice and was once given gluten containing ingredients. This can make me unwell for days at a time and you have agreed to cater for it so please pay attention, take notes for your chef and double-check because everything else is amazing. I'd either go with a all-or-nothing policy with allergies as the current experience is concerning. Cheers

This little cafe offers freshly made, whole foods. I had the scrambled eggs with avocado, and it was the best breakfast I've had in the UK. They make great food. .. Ambiance was relaxed, friendly, and gets a lot of business from locals (and their cute dogs). Music was good, too

There is a good choice of food on offer all freshly cooked. The portions are very generous. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful. We will be back!

"The Mexican" wrap contained a cold, cheap defrosted chicken goujon. I complained to the waitress about it being ice cold and the response was simply "OK". Well, OK then! Ended up paying full price – very understaffed and hectic atmosphere so just couldn't be bothered pursuing further though I'm kicking myself for paying £8 for that. Won't be going back anyway. Probably just a sign of Britain's broken economy and a good impetus to eat at home from now on.

I just stopped in after walking the city! Lovely welcome, had a hot caramel brownie with Tuscan vanilla ice cream, absolutely delicious! Really good coffee here too along with all the other food, wraps, breakfast sandwiches. I'll be back soon. Diolch yn fawr! 👍

Absolutely fantastic breakfast with excellent customer service. It is limited with seating, but well worth the weight, and great value for money. Freshly cooked food, which was lovely and fresh. Will definitely be back.

Pretty sure I got food poisoning from there. Also, I’ve been charged £11.50 for a wrap with side salad that fit in the same box and a cup of frothed milk for my 2 year old. Ah and the wrap was supposed to be £7 so did I get charged £5 for the milk? Definitely not going back there again.

Good place for lunch, had the Satay wrap with courgette instead of brie, was delicious, although the balsamic vinegar on the side salad, I think, is outdated and overpowering. Coffee was nice, great service.

Came here four days in a row since I so enjoyed their sandwiches and pastries. Ambiance is really warm and fun. Service very friendly. Lots of choices plus you can make your own sandwiches—all great. Highlight for me were the pastries. Had a different one every day and honestly not sure what was best. Highly recommend!!

Live locally and been to cafe Gallo for food on a number of occasions now. My partner and I have tried lots of the wraps l and rolls and they are brilliant everytime. We struggle to pick our favourite as they have all been so good.

Excellent food (we had the sourdough toast with avocado, scrambled eggs, and sriracha on a bed of spinach) and great coffee. Friendly service and cozy setting with indoor and outdoor options.

Had such a lovely waitress serve us (dark brown hair) and she made us feel very welcomed. The food was flipping fab and such a good portion for the price - don’t be deceived! We had the satay and it sounds like a weird combo but it worked so well 😅

Service is super quick, the blonde girl that served me was lovely (also excellent style, her fit was gorgeous) Coffee both regular and decaf is really nice. Empire biscuits are great. Would recommend and go again.

Great food, great service - really friendly and unpretentious - have been meaning to pop in for ages and very glad we did. Sure to become a Saturday tradition. Had the breakfast wrap today and it was so, so good and generous size, too!

Menu is not overwhelming (positive - HUGE lunch menus can be intimidating) and every choice offers something diverse and exciting. The wraps and burritos come with a side of nachos and a salad. Great ratio filling to bread. Really lovely atmosphere. Nutella latte was insanely delicious.

Went here as a random stop for a coffee on the way back to our hotel, its a very small place so you probably have to fight for a seat but they genuinely do one of the best coffees I've had in scotland (and I've had quite a few!!). I did compliment them and they sad it was italian beans that they use. The coffee was very smooth and creamy as apposed to the usual bitter, burnt coffee alot of places do. I had a cappuccino and the milk wasn't over frothy either which again is a usual mistake in the UK. It has quite a cool vibe, almost art student-y. Would 100% recommend to go for a coffee (didn't try the food), ypu pay a normal.al price for for really nice coffee and the guys at the bar were pretty friendly , so all round a good experience! Only not doing 5* as I didn't try the food :)
