Cafe Darcy in Thanet

We had family visit us so we decided to walk into Margate and have lunch in our usual cafe. We know the food here is well priced and good quality . The prices have increased recently but still good value for money. Staff are great and very welcoming

One of my favourite places to eat in Margate. The food is fresh and great quality, reasonably priced and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating!

What a wonderful cafe: Great staff, great food and not at all expensive. Lunch was 'Liver and Bacon with mash, brockley, carrots and the best onion gravy I've ever had'. Will be coming here again and again.

Exceptional! Quality ingredients at reasonable prices. And, they offer a gluten free (GF) breakfast - fabulous.

Good old fashioned cafe. Good food, piping hot. Great service. Best breakfast out I've had in a very long time - will be my place to go in future visits to Margate!

Friday 15th December 2023 This cafe today was visited it is a 2 roomed cafe today it was clean and well run by staff that knew what they were doing this cafe served many breakfast dishes none expensive I got the D'Arcy costing 6 pound 75 with cost of coffee on top see picture on cafes site. I was very happy with the service ambience of place and the food I was served. Well done all involved

Top place. Loved the hot food that hit the spot today on a cold Wednesday. The Butcher's Sausage was cooked perfectly and the Cottage Pie also. Veg nice as they come. Easy 10 out of 10. Will use again no problem. Cheers.

Cafe Darcy is one of my happy places in Margate. The food is always very reasonable in price, cooked well and filling. The staff are welcoming and always happy to help and have a chat. Very well positioned to start your day with a nice cooked breakfast with a number of vegan and vegetarian options available. The photograph shows the pancakes, poached eggs and avocado with bubble and squeak on the side and the top plate of pancakes bacon and scrambled eggs with hash browns on the side. A particular highlight is the way Tracey decorates the place for Pride, Halloween and Christmas.

A good traditional cafe and sadly not many like this about now. Good food and service recommend to anyone.

We usually have a light lunch and found this place ideal. The fried “breakfast” looked delicious, but we went for the very reasonably priced jacket potatoes. How they manage to profit at that price - under £6 - when there was what must have been a tin of tuna is a mystery to us.

We visited here today with family so they can see what this cafe has to offer. The family were firstly amazed at the vast choice of food on the menu . When the food came out they were taken back at the a,punt of the food on the dishes and the prices .

I have never been to this café before, but as a special treat we went out for breakfast for my birthday. I had the vegan option with a soya latte. It was delicious. My mum loved hers too. It's great value for money, good sized portions and it was served really quickly. We are looking forward to having another special treat out. Thank you Cafe Darcy.

On our daily walk into Margate we sometimes stop at Cafe Darcy for breakfast , brunch or lunch . Today it was lunch and I ordered Cheeseburger and my wife ordered tuna Sandwich and we shared a bowl of chips . The service was excellent as was the food . The only difference this time was the chef , the owner was on holiday and his brother stepped in . They both look alike as was the cooking . Staff great as always on the ball pleasant and polite .

Omg! Ordered a 3egg omelette with onions, mushroom and ham with salad and all I can say is DAAMMNNN… best omelette I have had in a very long time - cooked to perfection and tasty 😋 My partner had the darcy breakfast and his plate was cleared ASAP 😂😂 would definitely recommend if you are in Margate and it’s right by the beach too! Back again and still the best breakfast I know of in Thanet. Two of everything breakfast at £6.75 was quite tasty and big enough to fill me up. Add on a bottle of water, and a Hot Chocolate and the bill still came to less than £11. Service was as always fast and polite, quality good and comfy seating in the window tables was a pleasant way to watch the world go by.

We walk regularly into Margate and sometimes call into Cafe Darcy for brunch or a snack. Service is normally good and the food is excellent value for money. Today we only wanted something light so we both went for the cheese burger with trimmings ,

We often walk into Margate from home and we always past Darcys so try to call in. We use this cafe for breakfast or brunch normally. The meals are cooked fresh and the menu is varied from breakfast to lunch and winter warmers on a special board . The prices are very good and we always laugh when we hear Londoners down for the weekend amazed at how cheap the prices are . Staff offer a excellent service at all times .

We had milkshakes and some lunch. Friendly staff, food priced well, very surprised when we ordered our burgers. They came with side salad, coleslaw and onion rings. Excellent value for money and fresh food. Definitely recommend. The breakfast looked amazing too, again really good value for money. Thank you!

We had walked into Margate and on the way back passed this place so decided to pop in . We found a table and was told the waiting time for food was 15 minutes but know it’s worth the wait . We ordered our drinks and the food soon came . As you can see from the photo delicious and worth the money .

Fantastic service from beginning to end. Gluten free bread and sausages and brown sauce! Food was piping hot and young girl serving was a pleasure. Fantastic

This was a very last minute late lunch choice. Walked in to a friendly welcome and a good choice of food, especially with one vegetarian in our group. All had a filling lunch, much needed cooling drinks and a rest. The bill was very reasonable....

Stopped for lunch here - lovely food served quickly. Who doesn't need a cheesy chip butty? Worth a visit if you're in Margate.

Lovely breakfast. Reasonably priced. Nice place, clean enough , apart from toilet not great but that is just me being fussy. Food was really good.

We come here regularly and it's always great! The food is so tasty and made with fresh and quality ingredients which are always perfectly cooked. Very friendly staff and customer service is fantastic. If you haven't been here yet, I would highly recommend you get yourself down here!

Have come to cafe darcy before and it’s been passable… on the last occasion I was handed the kids menu for my 5 year old. When the waitress came to take my order I asked if the milk that comes with the kids meal could be exchanged for a different child’s drink and my child doesn’t drink milk. I was told it can’t be. I asked if I was expected to pay for a different child’s drink to which the reply was “yes” I said that I don’t find that fair in the slightest seeing as a cup of squash is cheaper than milk and just offering milk with the child’s meal doesn’t leave much of a choice. I said we’d leave it. If it was me id have tried to accommodate as much as I could. Then, after saying what my child would like I was told it wasn’t available. I chose something else, was told that wasn’t available. I asked what was available and there must have been one thing on the child’s menu available. Why wasn’t this told to us as we were seated and passed the child’s menu? I said that we’d rather go elsewhere and it’s a shame as we’ve visited the cafe a few times. Instead of the waitress being apologetic and trying to find alternatives so they received our custom she just stood there and laughed. As we walked out we were blanked by every member of staff. Cafe darcy is nothing but a wannabe glorified greasy spoon with awful customer service.

Major let down after work colleagues were raving about it. FIRSTLY I ordered 2x bacon sandwiches. The bacon was cooked in reused oil so it was black on the surface and DRY! AS A BONE. Awful. SECONDLY. It come with hash browns. 2x for each sandwich so there were 4x hash browns that I NEVER ORDERED but mus have PAID FOR. So weird to PAY for something you did not order. THIRDLY. They need to take the FLAT WHITE off of The menu as they do not know how to make them. You can't just pretend to know. I basically received a FROTHY COFFEE. The only reason I'm not giving it a 1🌟 is I'm going to give it a second chance. If still bad I'll give it a 1🌟 if good then we will see.

Great little café on the road to the beach. Clean, friendly, clearly popular with locals/regulars. Chilled atmosphere without music overdone. Temporarily working around the corner, will be back.

One of the best breakfasts I have had, black pudding was lovely, everything else was cooked perfectly and well presented on a suitably large plate. It wasn't greasy and was very hot when it came out, I cleared the plate bar a few beans and a small bit of the chunky bread. Would 100% come here again. Update... 27/01/22 Again, absolutely brilliant breakfast 👌 Piping hot, perfectly cooked and super tasty. My new favourite place for a breakfast, The Darcy with extra mushrooms and extra black pudding. Yum 🤤

Used to be a really good traditional cafe selling tasty breakfasts and grills - known as Kallis. Now a poncey eaterie selling rip off price food and drinks! Quality fair but no real value. A venue for the geeks and the down from London brigade! Not for the hard pressed locals! Doubt if I'll be back!

I came in here yesterday with one of my support workers after having going for a walk, the coffee was lovely, friendly staff.

This is the second time my husband and I have been to Cafe Darcy. The food is always excellent quality and hot. The environment is clean and inviting, and staff are very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be returning for breakfast soon.

If you want proper ingredients then happy to pay a fair price for them . We Dded a couple of pounds tip for the meal , but is there a wayTo give the customer the option to add gratuity percentage when using the card machine as it is unknown whether the tip made it to the staff, I know there is additional charge for this but I feel your staff may feel more benefit if it prompts the customer to ask if they want to add gratuities at the point of sale as I never carry cash anymore.Thanks Guys! £3,60 for one of the worst sausage sandwiches I've ever had. The bread was ok, but the sausage tasted like it had been cooked a month ago and reheated twice or three times. Never again

As my brother and I are coeliac we can struggle to find a suitable place to eat with a decent breakfast available. Well this gem of a find was just what we needed. They could provide a FULL breakfast with nothing taken away and the staff were very clued up. I would and have recommended this to another family member

I came here with a group of friends for breakfast. We all had the Darcy breakfast and each tweaked our orders slightly (no egg, extra sausage, gluten free etc.) - nothing was too much trouble for them! Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. I’m coeliac so really struggle eating breakfast at places but here they did gorgeous gluten free bread, gluten free sausages and gluten free chips/hashbrowns - a coeliac breakfast hat trick! Lovely clean cafe with the most excellent service. The grill wasn't working when we went but they swiftly offered alternative choices for breakfast and lunch. The breakfast was great. Those vegetarian sausages are worth having!!

We went here a few times for breakfast during our holiday in Margate. We were really impressed by the quality of the food and how well presented each plate was. We thought it was excellent value.The place is clean and has a nice relaxing atmosphere, and the staff were very helpful and efficient. We didn’t have to wait long for our food, and everything was cooked how we asked.We would definitely recommend this little gem of Margate.
