Cafe Cova in Moyle

Supposed to be game night 1-6pm. It’s 3:15pm and no tables available and no one even said hi. The staff could have condensed tables to make room but did nothing to accommodate or even say hello. Also, why do a paint event at the same time. Did not feel welcome and likely will not return.

A lot of people come here for the beer, but I always come for the Norfolk Smog! It is Earl Grey tea with some espresso shots. Absolutely delicious!! There is always some type of event going on and at least a food truck outside in case you are hungry.

My first time here and so there are many signs saying don't do this or don't do that, it felt like we are children being scolded. Parking and enterance are confusing. The coffee menu is bland and boring, got an iced carmel latte and it had no flavor. The staff aren't really rude just not friendly. Hipster/millennial "we're better than you" vibe. It has potential but lacking in all the ways that make this a go to spot.

This place started pushing people out 30 minutes before closing, refusing to sell more beer before what should be last call. Absolutely disrespectful to the customers paying a premium for average beer. There’s a reason I don’t frequent this establishment.

Overall: 5/5 A great place to chill, grab a beverage of choice, and generally relax. Food (beverages): 5/5 they have a decent selection of beverages ranging from coffee to one side of the area and then a wall of beer on the other. They do the whole tokens where you can charge so you don't have to wait for someone to pour a pint. Atmosphere: 5/5 they have a smallish inside, but make it up with a clean nice charm. A simple modernist approach, they also had live music on Sunday that brought in a lot of people. They also have a great outdoor section with some bonfire pits and places to chill when it gets to summer. Service: 5/5 friendly, nice, and welcoming. Nothing to complain and all kudos around!

Parking lot big enough for exactly 7.8 vehicles. It looks nice? It would probably be fun if you're cool with blocking a driveway or parking illegally. EDIT: Turns out we didn't know about all their options for parking. Oops. Appreciate the kind response!

This place is awesome. The atmosphere makes you want to be there all day long. We enjoyed the live music for Febtoberfest and were met with excellent service as one of the girls gladly came outside to light one of the outdoor firepits for us. The only downfall is how crowded the entry area is. Check this place out!

A little pricey for the coffee/lattes ($7 each) but overall pretty tasty & they had non-dairy milk options. Very cute inside. We were able to sit and chat for a while. The environment was welcoming and cute.

My wife and I had a wonderful time here. The beer is self-serve and they have someone there to show you how it works (its easy)! You get a card (or 2 in our case) connected to your tab that you place in the card reader over the beer you want. It only charges you for how much or little you pour, which is perfect for trying a few without committing to a full glass. It also shows you the price of what you poured so its easy to keep track. You grab a new glass each time and use the rinser before you pour, so things stay clean. There is great outdoor seating and it's in a great area, with a nice sized yard/field that was being used for an outdoor trivia night. The prices were good as well! There was also a food truck this evening. If there isn't a food truck, outside food is welcome. We are definitely coming back.

Seriously? Fifty cents per ounce for self serve draft beer? What are you smoking? I guess you don't care for people living on a pension. Owner says Industry pricing standards. For where? New York City? Tokyo?. Ever wonder why Sam's club pulled outta Norfolk? Your neighbors are NOT WEALTHY. A pint should be no more than $4, then I can give the server a tip (if deserving).

I was super impressed with this brewery! Normally I think breweries near the ocean don’t have as quality of taste, but this place proved me wrong! Their beer was AMAZING, and the self-pour taps made it easy to try lots of different beers! I also love that they have a coffee shop- really helps make it a place for everyone, not just beer lovers. The outdoor space is beautiful! We came for live music, and enjoyed the atmosphere so much! A couple food trucks out back made it super easy to get dinner that everyone loved too! 10/10 recommend.

The most anti-social “brewery” we’ve set foot in. Buy a card, pour your own beer and enjoy your electronic device. No need to interact with the staff, they feel the same. The good news is there’s no need to tip because there’s no service component to this experience. It’s a beer vending machine, or the equivalent to Walmart’s Self Checkout.

Great brewery. It's a self pour and the beers I tried were all very good. It is pet friendly, and the coffee bar smelled incredible. Can't wait to go back.

Nice little place in east beach OV. Packed house for open mic night. May try to do that in the near future. Outside pizza from Sour Street Pizza.

The espresso lasted a little burnt. I got a caramel latte but there is never any caramel flavor. I avoid this coffee shop now. I did have a decent pumpkin chocolate chip muffin.

Sours were rotated out. Should always have at least one on tap..

So much space for children and dogs, and meetings and gatherings! So chill and quaint. I’ve recently heard someone ask where to get an Australian coffee. I learned this is basically an espresso Ice cream float! Nitro Affogatto is on the menu at COVA. The barista told me this is also espresso poured over ice cream and I really enjoyed it. Its creamy, not sweet. Check out COVA if you’re in East Beach, its a nice little walk. <3

Great place to just sit and relax!

This is a delightful cafe that serves both locals and tourists. Good honest to goodness food. Toasties, Breakfast baps, pastries, etc... and very often a queue for seating. Well done to all the hard working serving staff.

While driving along the coast road, we stopped in Cushendall for coffee and cake. Went to this cafe. Staff very friendly, cafe clean, tidy, light and airy. Service and food was great. When we go back would go again without doubt.

Visited with my partner and son for breakfast included with our stay in a local B&B. We all agreed it was one of the best breakfasts we have ever had. My filled soda bread was amazing, all perfectly cooked. Pancakes, bacon and maple syrup for my son which he loved, washed down with a strawberry milkshake. And my partner highly recommends the coffee! Staff were attentive, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Had an excellent , tasty breakfast two days in a row! Bright, comfortable restaurant with first class staff who are friendly and helpful in their roles. Nothing is a bother to them and service is first class. Breakfasts are served hot and with delicious coffee - we were very pleased - thank you Cova Cafe. We have been a few times before and have never been disappointed!

Village cafe but the opposite of what you might expect. Great traditional food, friendly staff, really clean. Came three days in a row it was so good!

Awesome breakfast; called in 3 days in a row as staying in cushendall with friends. Brilliant service, excellent value, lovely breakfast. Nothing not to like, superb all round.

I have started using this café regularly on motorcycle runs up the Antrim coast. It has become my go to cafe as it does a superb breakfast/brunch. In addition the staff are friendly and helpful. Some posters here have complained that there is no vegetarian/vegan options. I have friends who are vegan and they will accept that not every eatery can accommodate an occasional vegetarian/vegan request. Keep doing what you are doing! I will keep coming back when I can!!!

Called in here for breakfast while passing through Cushendall, staff were friendly and took our order quickly. Fry’s were lovely, good portions and reasonably priced. We realised at the end the sausage and tomato were missing from one fry but didn’t mention this to staff as at this stage it didn’t matter. However, I’m sure this would have been easily rectified if we had brought this to their attention. The cafe is clean and tidy with toilets available for customer use. Would call again if I’m in the area.

Stopped in for a coffee to cafe cova was very happy with the service the girls behind the counter could not have been anymore welcoming and friendly would cheer you up on a miserable rainy day would definitely recommend a stop with these girls and the coffee was top notch 😊

I had a really uncomfortable experience here today I've never came across an establishment with staff as rude, when ordering an egg white one of the waitresses asked if it could be done, I then I got a nasty response of one of the staff 'well you can tell her yourself' and looked into the cook I felt so embarrassed and uncomfortable I just grabbed my stuff and left. It seems if you aren't local you'll be made to feel unwelcomed, won't be back.

Fine as long as you're not either vegan or vegetarian. No efforts made to accommodate if you are and absolutely no alternatives to the fry for breakfast. We were informed by staff that all food was fried in the same fat rendering the mushroom, tomatoes and other potentially vegan options inedible to my niece. Having paid for full breakfasts at McNaughtons, she was given dry toast and a ramekin of baked beans! The full fry was adequate but by far the most begrudging I've ever seen with 1/2 portions or smaller items served up. Avoid the black pudding at all costs.

The omelette and salad was just so delicious and the hazelnut latte very hot and tasty and the staff were so attentive chatty caring and kept the place running smoothly though it was very busy. I would fully recommend this Gem of a place in the heart of this wonderful village of Cushendal..thank you.

The breakfast spots in Ireland seemed to open later, so my appetite was in craving mode; Cafe Cava did not fail me. The breakfast sandwich with egg, bacon, and sausage was terrific...I could have eaten three but only had one because my doctor would have had an issue. ;-)

Great selection of beers. I like the self pour taps, so you can get however much or little you want. Nice outdoor area to hangout and enjoy your beers.

Didn’t have a good experience. I was at the wall and didn’t know how to use the tap properly & when I asked the lady who was supposed to be helping she made snarky remarks to me accusing me of being a drunk. I didn’t appreciate the comment as I have never used the taps before. It was very rude and uncalled for. She shouldn’t be at the wall to help customers if she isn’t going to be helpful.

I love the "pour your own" approach here, and the fact that you pay by the ounce. Prices are very reasonable, and the staff are very helpful. The "pour your own" style works especially well for flights because it gives you even more flexibility. They have a nice outdoor seating area, and frequently have food trucks on site. They also have a great coffee shop side - the samoa pie is a must!

COVA has a wide variety of beer... stouts, lagers, sours, and IPAs... along with seltzer and wine. The beers were all good and with the large selection sure to please everyone. They even have a coffee shop! Dog friendly, nice little spot. Glad we went!

This place is dope. Really hits a broad target audience of beer geeks, coffee nerds, and foodies with the food trucks. The space has a really cool atmosphere with all kinds of different people

If you are a pro beer pourer, the pour your own beer is a great option. Coffee is well done as well.

Awesome local brewery and coffee shop. Run club meets up here often. There's food trucks outside quite often and snacks inside. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Room for kids and dogs to play outside. When the weather is cool there are fire pits as well. Recommend checking their web page and social media for current events/food trucks/specials. I'm a HUGE fan of local and nitro cold brew and these folks hit on both those!

1st time here. Very unassuming, but loved it. I can't stand beer but the staff was very helpful in finding me something I did like. Looking forward to trying the food next time!

This is a solid 4 star brewery. The process is easy, the staff is friendly and helpful, but the coffee shop in the brewery is just silly.

What a great brewery! Tons of outdoor spaces with different seating options. The indoor area is bright and welcoming and the bathrooms were immaculate. All the beer is self-service- you get a card that tracks your purchases. I made myself a sampler and then poured my wife a glass of Chardonnay. They had 4 wines on tap as well and several seltzers. They also have a full coffee bar with local pastries and a handful of other menu items. Their coffee must be great because the line was constant. Other meal options include a food truck on site. And today was Girl Scout Cookie day, so that was our dessert! We had a great visit to Cova Brewing- the vibe and the people were all positive- and most importantly- the beer was delicious.

Hampton roads needs more places like this. There is inadequate parking space however. Some patrons parked inconsideratly taking up too much space. We had to park in the mall lot. On the side of the venue, there is an area allocated to maybe 10 golf carts, but there was non there. It could be used to fit some cars, so the empty spaces are utilized.

EDIT: I don’t often go back to add onto my reviews; especially when there isn’t much else to say. But I cannot brag on this place enough! The service has consistently been top notch and the rotating taps always offer something new to experience. We have brought many friends and family here over the past couple of years and not one complaint. We love this place! Original review: Waited and waited with bated breath for this brewery to finally open. Had no idea there was going to be a coffee shop inside as well. Now they can get our business for a pick-me-up on the way too work and a much needed draft on the way home! We went during the soft opening and the staff could not have been friendlier. We have never been to a brewery like this before and the staff was excited to explain how the system works. We tried out the pilsner, coffee brew, and nitro brew. Pilsner was my favorite. The iced mocha was also pretty tasty. It all was very reasonably priced as well. We did end up spending a pretty penny because we picked up some merch on the way out. Realized afterward that the tip % was based off of the merch as well. Oops. Support local! In short, the wait was totally worth it. We’ll be back!

The beer is top notch and reasonably priced as well. The food truck when we were there was o er priced fir the quality however.

We attended to coffee tasting today. Good environment, tasteful coffee, creative activity, amazing stuff. We enjoyed our time. Owner and people who works there were absolutely wonderful. Thank you guys for making this event. Will definitely be back!

This place is awesome but they rely on food trucks. Came here at 7:30pm on a Friday to have a single food truck tell us they were closing up. It’s was also 72 degrees and nice out.

This was my first experience at Cova. I drive-by it often but finally decided to walk to it with my granddaughter in her stroller and was pleasantly surprised to find a children’s area complete with a sandbox and shovels and buckets for her to play with. It’s really great to see families out here on a beautiful fall day. I can’t wait to come back in the evening and experience it.

Diamond of Mermaid City. New outdoor seating with garden area, embedded coffee shop, unique food trucks daily plus really good beer. Gets better every trip. Parking is a bit hidden around back.

This is the best coffee shop, everyone should come here. Really good pumpkin spice latte. They do tons of fun community things too, like goat yoga. Lots if people bring their pumps here too which is super cute. You'll live it!

One of my favorite breweries. The staff always seem to appear to love their jobs. I loved the autumn beers my last visit. The outdoor space is cozy too. If beer isn't your thing they have coffee and tea. And baked goods too.

Perfect for a morning coffee and an evening beer (and whatever you want every time in between). The food trucks are really awesome as well. It's a great casual place to hang out.

Possibly my favorite brewery of all time! The self serve beer taps are a super cool unique way to get your favorite brew. The atmosphere (mostly outside) is spacious and a great place for a casual hang. The best and most important part of the review - their beer. HANDS DOWN my favorite local/small business brew/best beer ever. They change what they have on tap often and I have never been disappointed with the brews that they make in house. Typically I stick with lighter beers, but I have found that I LOVE their Porters and IPA’s. I have never gotten a beer that I have been dissatisfied with and recommend Cova to all my friends. The staff is also super accommodating and kind. Anytime I have asked a question they immediately have an answer or find someone with an answer. Last weekend I stopped in an hour before close (they typically stop their flight boxes at this time) and the gal at the desk went and asked the manager who accommodated me with one. SERIOUSLY I cannot stress enough how much you NEED to go try Cova! You won’t be disappointed.

Consistently great drinks and environment. Packed street parking isn't ideal but that's the only downside about the place.

Great coffee done right, and a beer choice for those times you need something else. The beer system is a bit of a new fangled card scan thing, but you can pour any size and hence try everything. It works once you get the primer.

1st time visit will not be my last! My iced caramel macchiato with ham & cheese bear claw was delicious! The venue is awesome, relaxed, friendly, with great seating to accommodate however you chill! The food trucks rotate so check the website for who's serving, but they do have some inside sweet & savory eats also!! And thanks for your Covid-19 policy! Highly Recommended!!

I was here for a wedding and the staff was super accommodating! Especially since they said it was their first wedding they hosted. IDK, but they did a really great job for being a 1st. I didn’t try their menu (due to the party) but their beer selection was pretty good and flavorful!

The service was impeccable as was the coffee. There is plenty of space, indoor and out and they offer a good variety of scone and muffin choices. It is very cyclist friendly; if I lived nearby I would absolutely make this our group ride coffee stop

This is hands-down our favorite spot to hang out in Norfolk. Cova has an awesome range of alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, rose, ciders) and they have a fantastic coffee section that's open all day (which is amazing for people like me who don't love beer). We love sitting outside with our pup with beer, coffee, baked goods and enjoying the weather. They've also held some amazing events and have a book club worth being a part of! I simply can't say enough good things about Cova and the people who work there! If you're in the area, it's a spot you have to check out!

This is a clean cafe with good reasonably priced food with good choice.It is in a convenient spot near main Street and on way to beach It is child friendly and we'll sanitised.

The beer is good. It is alcohol made from grains, as expected. The cream ale was nice, but not as creamy as I expected. They also have a nice and strong IPA. When we were there was a food truck with loempias. These were as good as I’ve had and I’ve had a lot.

Had an excellent time at Cova today! First time here. Really like the pour your own beers. Got coffee and beer since they also brew coffee. Ended up meeting Phil, one of the owners/founders and had some good conversations with him. Wished we lived closer, as this would totally be a regular spot for me. But, at least I know where to go if I’m ever in the area. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Caramel macchiato stout!

5 adults and 3 children looking for lunch on a sunny Sunday. We went in to look for a table to be advised to wait outside while one was cleaned. We were clearly a big party so if the staff had any reservations on the...

Good options and well priced lunch. Breakfast fry was still an option at lunchtime which was nice, and the prices were very reasonable. Parking was available on the street outside if your lucky too.

Cool atmosphere. Serve yourself beer taps. Lots of choices. They even serve coffee and sweets.

Favorite brewery! We love pouring our beers and not waiting in line to get beer. Super friendly staff. Love it so much my wife and I got some kegs for our wedding!

Very nice and friendly café. Stayed at nearby guesthouse (The Central Bar) and breakfast was included for Cova. Family had a lovely breakfast... pancake stack being a big hit with the kids and filled soda (bacon, egg and sausage) for me. Service was super quick...

The good: atmosphere is cool. Walking distance to the beach. Lots of outdoor seating with tents for shelter from rain offering plenty of shade. Bad: I had 2 beers. Coffee stout was a little warm and under carbonated. A full 16 Oz pour costs 7.25. Also had the Pina Colada Sour. Beer was delicious. Aromas of pineapple and coconut were well balanced. However, was also under carbonated. I only poured a little of this one but I think it probably would have cost around $13 for a 16oz pour. You pay per ounce an doour it yourself. They needed 3 people standing around to help patrons since no one knows how this works. Would be much more efficient if bartenders just poured beers themselves, and would require less employees doing the same thing. Flavors were great. Carbonation was poor. And it's really expensive.
