Fantastic food. Great menu and drinks choices. Is a little on the more expensive side but good for a treat. Definitely worth booking a table as it seems to always be busy.

Lovely cafe, cozy environment. I had a chocolate torte, best one I've ever had, so chocolatey and moist! The hot chocolate was a bit watery but overall, a nice treat.

Nice cafe away from the bustle of the local area. The menu was quite pricey for what was on offer and there wasn't much in the way of gluten free options, so my partner just had a coffee and I had a cake and coffee. My slate for a plate was dusted with edible glitter which put me off eating the side of fruit. Call me a traditionalist! The staff were pleasant and accommodating as much as possible, the atmosphere was family friendly and welcoming. More GF options would give this a 5 star.

This is a quirky Cafe, but to call it a Cafe does it an injustice. The food is simply amazing and very individual. The Ploughman’s Lunch is fantastic!!! Highly recommended.

Had a venture out for a room viewing for an upcoming event they are hosting. Thank fully, ended up staying longer than anticipated and enjoyed some of the best food, customer service and atmosphere we have had in a long time. Space was lovely, staff were amazing and we left with full confidence that our event was in safe and more than capable hands.

Fantastic cake and coffee. I had a slice of cherry and vanilla cake, it was delicious. A lovely place to have a catch up with my friend surrounded by beautiful countryside. Staff were welcoming and attentive. My friend and I had discovered Spring Cottage just before Christmas when we went to an edible wreath evening. We didn’t know what to expect but it was brilliant. Hoping to book again this year too! I’m already looking forward to my next visit to try the lunch menu.

Walk at Rivington alternate Mondays and have always wanted to try Spring Cottage (never use to be open on a Monday) but some members of the group have been put off by the menu and prices. Last Monday we were a reduced group so took the plunge. We were not disappointed, we were given a very warm welcome in a small dining room which was warm, comfortable, homely and dog friendly. The menu is small but that’s because everything is cooked fresh and from scratch. This also means food is not on the table minutes after ordering. And yes it’s pricey, but the ‘wild mushrooms toast’ was delicious and I believe the salmon and avacado was too. No complaints everything was quality. After a busy weekend the cake selection was a little depleted but we managed. Yes we will definitely be back but sadly too expensive for it to become our regular lunching venue.

Best music amazing scone and cosy by the fire

We visited here yesterday at 2pm. We had a booking and were initially placed at our table quickly. We were sat on a two seated table by the door. It had clearly been a busy afternoon, but we waited over half an hour and hadn't received a menu or offered anything, or informed of any wait time. It seemed that others arriving after us and walk-ins were served before us? Eventually after over half an hour of no interaction, menu, or offers of anything from staff we left. Obviously it can be a hard job when it's extremely busy and it seemed like a lovely place but unfortunately not a good time to go.

After spending £55 on breakfast & behaviour lovely with the staff, was told to leave as they need the table for other people. Crazy as not finshed eating & made me feel very uncomfortable by the male server.

Absolutely gorgeous food, so beautifully presented and friendly attentive staff. Looking forward to going back soon x

Food was good but why on earth is there so little bacon on a plate!!!! £18 for a full English and 1 measly piece of bacon, I feel very let down. Nice decor though Came this morning around 10am x

A delightful setting for a celebration 🍾

Arrived promptly at 10:15 with a reservation, yet despite the limited crowd, we were seated near the entrance, an odd choice in an almost empty space. Order placed at 10:18, and although hot drinks arrived swiftly, the subsequent wait for our food was prolonged, even witnessing new customers being served before us. Surprisingly, reservations seemed to result in less favorable seating. The staff's attention was uneven; the male attendant seemed occupied with his playlist, while the two females appeared disorganized. Despite being one of three customer pairs, we endured a substantial wait, ultimately receiving our lukewarm food after 42 minutes (the male attendant very curtly corrected us that it had been in fact 42 minutes instead of 45 minutes, a trivial discrepancy). The glass cup without handles for a hot drink was impractical, and the lack of proactive service left much to be desired. In expressing our food wait dissatisfaction, the male staff member was dismissive, adding to the overall disappointment. The management should consider refining staff procedures to elevate customer experiences and avoid such lapses in service.

A wonderful cafe. Comfortable chairs, interesting decor and books to look at, cloth napkins, fabulous lunch, lovely waitress, nice to dogs. What’s not to like?

What a great find! Enjoyed an excellent brunch. Shakshuka and the Savoury Cheese Scone with chilli jam. Both dishes beautifully presented. Exotic side salad served with the scone with extras like fig, pomegranate and blueberries and delicious dressing. The cafe decor is eclectic and rustic and charming - and if you get a window seat lovely views into the woods. Reasonable prices and we thought a refreshing, delicious, interesting menu. We will certainly be back to sample more. Service was friendly and efficient.

Went for lunch recently. The salmon bagel was 'the best ever' as I was told it was going to be. The atmosphere was really lovely and we were given plenty of time to chat and enjoy ourselves.

I recently ordered a lemon and blueberry cake from spring cottage for my Aunty's birthday and it was absolutely delicious! It was so moist and lemony and the sponge was full of blueberrys. I would definately recommend to anyone wanting a special celebration cake.

We had a lovely relaxing lunch at this charming little cottage, neatly tucked away in the trees, just off the road at Rivington. The warm welcome certainly set the scene. The food was very good, full of flavour and wholesome, nicely presented too. Would definitely recommend whether just looking for somewhere to dine or to simply refuel after a long walk!

Visited for late lunch Cute & quirky little place, hidden from the road. Small menu but food was very good. Partner had the all day breakfast & it looked great, organic produce. I had the hash browns with chorizo & eggs served with yoghurt dips & it was very good. Must try the cakes next time

We visited on Easter Sunday, just the two of us with our dog. I had the breakfast platter and my partner had the big breakfast. I have to say this was the BEST breakfast I have ever had. The food was fresh, healthy and beautifully prepared and was clearly of excellent quality, including the meat and eggs on the cooked breakfast. Service was fast and friendly. Popped in for Saturday lunch. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, great quality ingredients and plenty of vegan options. I had a tomato soup which is served with gorgeous cheese on toast followed by the best scone ever - served warm with cream and jam. And my dog had a fab time too

A fabulous venue, great staff, great welcome & atmosphere, food lovely. Just please can you review prices. I know everything has gone up, so not expecting cheap, just a tad more considered and then we can come back more often). Or have a special? 3 kids, 5 adults. 3 Soups, 2 platters to share, cpl of cakes, coffees hot chocolate.. we shared things, but it was still £180 ish. £14.50 for soup & bread seems a bit toppy. Beautiful quaint place , beautiful food and of a high quality and beautifully presented , big let down was the Price . 18pd for a ploughman’s lunch is extortionate with half of a pork pie .and 13 pound for a bowl of onion soup !! Is really taking the mick organic or not .Shame won’t be returning

Not been for a while so decided to book again as it was really good last time.......DISAPPOINTED!! Very restricted menu particularly for breakfast....slow service even though there was only one other table occupied.....had to ask for the menu then quite a wait even for drinks!!! The food is presented well but doesn't taste as good as it looks....my husband did complain about his meal and just got a 'thank you for letting us know' in response. The automatic 10% service charge doesn't allow one to reward or not.... Won't be going again but that's just our opinion...

Lovely venue , but very limited menu …. Bread , bread and more bread and very over priced !!! Staff lovely but not on the ball … hot drinks came then had to ask for sugar , side plates etc

Such a shame about this cafe 3rd time not lucky. First time my sister and I went for lunch and was told we haven't booked so therefore we could not eat there .So we moved on to another place.I get that,but came across in a abrupt manner.Which took us back. Second time I went on my own at lunch time. I did book a table and requested that i was just attending for coffee and cake. I was told my table wasnt ready and could i waite around outside and take a look around the shop while i waited for my table to be prepared. Which I did.I waited some time and then I went outside and then I went back inside ,when a little lady came across and said your table is ready follow me. I was seated on the area the back it was like a lovely little conservatory area of glass and overlooking the garden. I was given my coffee.Three mins later she came back over,and said sorry i need to move you into the other part.I was up rooted infront of other dinners,and moved into the area were there was people and dogs.I was placed on a large leather settee. I waited quite some time before I was eventually given a cream jam scone,which got everywere as i had to keep leaning over and down to the coffee table.But i managed i did apologise for the mess. Third and final time, my partner and I visited only yesterday on the 16th of January for my birthday. It was quite cold we popped in for a hot drink,i was a little under the weather,so decided not to order food at this point,and we was told that because we had not booked there was only outside seating. This was fine it didn't bother us though it was quite cold yesterday. We waited and waited and waited and the two girls at the side of Us order coffee and cake and was served and ate theirs.I I went to my car to get a second coat because by now I was very cold. partner stated I wonder why is taking so long just to make you drinks. I did inform him that a previous ocasion,it did take quite some time and this is understandable if the busy. However we waited a lot longer than this ,and he went into see, and found out yes they had forgotten us. Eventually when the young lady came out and gave us our drinks there was no apology not even a side biscuit was offered as a gesture of courtesy. Hence I will not be going again. But I do find this disheartening because it is such a lovely place. It saddens me to write this review as i have no dowt is wasnt meant to be delibrate

We booked a table for 1:15pm on a Sunday lunchtime, they had run out of 4 items on the menu (of about 8 dishes and they only told us when we tried to order each one!). So we just opted for a coffee and cake...

Dropped in on the off chance and they were able to give us a table for a coffee. Lovely welcome from the staff. Had two great coffees. Sat looking over the garden, very restful and calming atmosphere and decor. Will return for food next time.

Took my husband for a treat for lunch as he'd never been. Lovely little place, big selection of hot drinks including mulled cider and wine through the colder months. Small menu, although great for me as I'm so Indecisive! I went for an an apple and cinnamon tea and Shakshuka with chorizo. Tea was lovely, sweet and comforting for a wet and cold day. The Shakshuka was a large hearty portion with a beautiful wedge of rosemary bread. Really really enjoyed it. The only reason for 4 stars is service was quite slow, and for a 1.45 booking we only just made it out in time for the school run! I will absolutely be going back though!

We have been meaning to pop in for lunch for ages and so glad we finally booked and went. The menu isn’t huge but enough to give you a good choice (even if you’re vegan), plus the focus is on quality organic products and you can really tell. I had the garlic mushrooms, my wife had the vegan scone and my mother-in-law had the shakshuka. Every single dish was presented beautifully and tasted great! We did have to wait a while for our mulled cider and we had a small caterpillar invader in one salad (these things happen!) but the staff were so friendly and sorted everything out quickly that it didn’t matter or impact our positive experience. It’s so nice to be able to go out for good quality vegan food in the area and we will definitely come back soon!

Really delicious food that looked amazing, coffee was really nice too as was the service. Only slight disappointment might be the choice but what they do they do amazingly. Definitely try it if you are passing.

Excellent... .. huge plates of food and quality service

I have never been to Spring Cottage before and wasn't disappointed. The menu contains good wholesome dishes and caters well for vegetarians and vegans. Although it may be a bit pricey compared to other local eateries, the portions are generous and of a good quality.

Such a lovely venue, whether for lunch or for a special occasion, food was amazing and presented beautifully , cannot recommend highly enough.

The Food is good. The standards of service however are questionable. No masks, one serviette for two people, cutlery had to be requested one piece at a time, and still no fork... Soup was spilt on the plate, rather than taking it back to clean it up it was left as such. No salt or pepper brought to the table either... After all that I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip. Again food was great, staff need training.

Absolutely loved this place. The food was imaginative and plentyful, the service faultless and its dog friendly. If you order a ploughman's lunch or a salad don't expect the ordinary. 10/10

Amazing lunch, the strawberry salad was the best salad I have ever had and possibly one of the best lunches. My husband loved his ploughman's as well. Staff were friendly and efficient. We will definitely return.
