Went to cafe andalusia for lunch and found the service and food exceptional

Really fantastic with a brilliant view of the castle!

We had a newer waiter who was a bit slow, but he took care of us well. The food was great and experience was fabulous.

The restaurant is lovely. Lots of eye candy. Beautifully and creatively decorated. All the staff we met were very nice. We did have an issue with one of our tapas dishes. We very specifically requested NO PORK. Strictly pork-free. One of the servers came and looked at our dishes and seemed to be giving that a lot of attention. But we did encounter pork. A strip of bacon in one of the plates. And the Fanta ordered at the beginning of the meal wasn't received until the end of the meal. Not sure what happened there. Our overall experience was still nice. And I think I'd still return.

Our group of 7 had pre-booked a table using our Itison vouchers (You have to print them off as this establishment does not accept the voucher on your mobile). We chose this place again as we had dined here a year ago, and their Tapas styled lunch was awesome. The servers led us to our table and took our food order and gave us our sangria as per part of the Itison deal. We were limited as to what we could order as it was an Itison deal, but we found more than enough on the menu to choose from. The food that came to the table was hot and, more importantly, delicious. In fact, out of the 20 plates of food served, only one dish had to be returned, (the chicken on the skewer was slightly under cooked), but we were given an apology, and the dish was replaced. The churros were really good and finished off a great meal. There is a 10% gratuity charge (mentioned in small writing at the bottom of the menu) added to every bill. The servers were polite, prompt, well presented and couldn't have been more helpful throughout our meal, a credit to the establishment. As with virtually every other place in Edinburgh, the toilets were downstairs and were clean, tidy.

I popped in for some breakfast, and was immediately welcomed by a member of the team who was delightful. We had a nice conversation and then proceeded to order my food and coffee, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality, not only of the food itself but by the presentation, I was not expecting it at all considering how affordable it was. They even brought me a complimentary glass of water which was a great detail. All in all very happy and will definitely be coming back.

The worst Spanish food I’ve ever had in the UK. I know it’s not Spain but they have no respect about Spanish food. The paella was cooked in the oven. Was dry at the top and soggy and watery at the bottom. We had to send it back as it didn’t have any flavour either. I wanted to cry when I saw that. The croquetas didn’t have any flavour either. It such a shame, the waiters/waitresses were lovely and understood why we had to send the food back. Had pudding for free with a very nice apology. I really don’t recommend it.

We had an amazing late lunch and the staff were very friendly and efficient.great flavours of Spain, can't wait till next time.

All the dishes were extremely heavy

I was already few times ,service is lovely. Food is always fresh and tasty. I recomend to go at lunch time to catch the lunch deal for tapas 3 for around 17£. Also interior of that restaurant will take you to a different place. Nice experience.

We came from Madrid and on the way we went to try a chocolate with churros and we were deeply disappointed. The Spanish hot chocolate turned out to be something more similar to a Nesquick and the churros are 3 tiny churritos with a small cup of chocolate syrup, and all for an exorbitant price. Also, compared to other places in Edinburgh the service was not as good and it took a long time. The only good thing to highlight is the decoration and the atmosphere.

I have to say that the restaurant surprised me. It has been one of the few restaurants that actually make Spanish food following the recipes. I'm not going to say it's cheap, but the food was delicious. In addition, they do not have dishes, but are based on tapas. In our case we took a menu to be able to eat 5 tapas, and the truth is that we ended up quite full. The atmosphere is nice, but there are a lot of people and there may be a lot of noise in the background. The staff is very attentive and asks from time to time, if we needed anything we didn't. I recommend trying this restaurant and even more so if you are Spanish. The most important part, is that the patatas bravas come with their brava sauce (all-i-oli with tomato sauce) and the paella without chorizo (with chorizo is a capital offense 😂).

We just love Cafe Andaluz..it never disappoints!

I wish I haven’t been to Spain or other Spanish restaurants, I think I would have enjoyed the food and the wine…

Birthday gift from a friend. Very good deal and very good. Service brilliant too. Churros better than Seville. We'll be back.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere, all round just a great place.

Very large two-story restaurant. We were there on Saturday evening and it was completely full. Of course it had a correspondingly high volume level. Nevertheless, the service was quick, friendly and we had our food on the table after just 20 minutes. Top! The food and drinks were impeccable.

It's a beautiful Spanish style restaurant. A real eye-catcher. Unfortunately, as a single guest, I only got a table in a niche and was facing a pillar. The service, food and drinks were fine. However, I think the restaurant is more for couples.

Fantastic variety and great quality. There were 3 of us and the paella along with the tapas almost beat us.

It's not just a cafe, but a real restaurant. You typically order two to three tapas. There is a fairly wide selection. A hit for people who like to experiment, pun intended.

Food was excellent, staff were very attentive and friendly. Had good gluten free options. A great friendly atmosphere with views over old town. Highly recommend and we will be back

Really enjoy Cafe Andaluz, first time at the Old Town restaurant and it didn't disappoint! Service was really good, staff were all very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious, only 4 star on the food because the meatballs we ordered were a little under done. Other than that everything was brilliant

You can feel the Spanish atmosphere with the ambient music and the smell that visit your senses at every breath. Great place. Food is also fab.

Went. For dinner... If we are Spanish in Edinburgh and to eat products... Almost Spanish, the truth is that everything we tried was very good and the waiter who served us was Spanish. We had some patatas bravas with ali oli, Roman-style squid and some prawns with rumescu sauce. All of 9, there were some things that showed that the touch was missing. But everything is very very good.

From entering the front door to leaving after a fabulous delicous meal with very professional staff. WE LOVED IT.

Visited here on our Edinburgh break last Thursday and loved it. Beautifully decorated inside with Moorish light fittings, ornate tiling and even a large blue patterned bull. We were greeted very pleasantly at the door and seated promptly. Our waitress was lovely, very friendly and helpful, sorry didn't catch her name, she is actually in the background of a photo I am posting to show decor. We used the itison card deal, £39 for the meal for 2. We had a glass of sangria, bread and olives, followed by 5 Tapas dishes and then cheesecake to finish. It was all delicious !! Atmosphere was great, toilets lovely and clean, we were so happy we had walked past the day before and decided to eat here the day after. Highly recommended, we hope you will be opening a branch in Manchester in the near future 😊

Another great meal at Cafe Andaluz. Our meal started with Bread & Olives served with oil & vinegar. It was then followed by 5 tapas of Grilled Asparagus with Manchego cheese, Goats cheese with Orange & Chilli Marmalade, Chicken fillets in batter with Honey & Mustard dressing and King Prawns served with Romesco sauce. We then had A Sundae De Frambliesa and Semifredo De Limon, all washed down with a nice bottle of red! Great food in a great restaurant served by attentive staff, thank you .

Very close to giving 5 stars but we thought the sharing platter with Ham, Serrano and Cheese didn't deserve to be anywhere near the £13-14 paid. The tapas generally was very good though and the surroundings and staff were excellent throughout.

Usually go to the one in Glasgow west end, but visited the one on the Grassmarket when we were in Edinburgh. Lovely restaurant, food amazing as always and our server Panjak was brilliant. Nothing was a bother.

Large selection, relaxed dining. Two floors, so plenty of space.

Not great food and only a small selection of beers. Could be biased as I was there with a very large group though, so perhaps the kitchen and staff were a bit overwhelmed.

We used the itison £39 for 2 people voucher which was excellent value for money and included 5 plates, bread, olives, glass of sangria/wine and a dessert each. The extra cost was for our bottle of wine and a few plates had an extra charge. There was a seating time limit stipulated but no one moved us out as the restaurant wasn't too busy. The food was amazing, the staff were attentive and friendly and the only reason I gave 4 stars for atmosphere is because the music was a bit loud and intrusive over lunch time. We had a great time.

Poor is the key word to describe my experience. The big let down is the food and the portions, this is a tapas restaurant where you can't share the food as you have nothing to eat on your plate. Special mention to the tortillas that is a dry slice of eggy potatoe.

Haven‘t waited so long for cafe and beer since a while and the restaurant wasn‘t even half full. Idk why they serve Tapas before the Drinks. Food and cafe was good but the service could be better..

The food was really really good. The service was nice and attentive. It's a big place and doesn't seem crowded even though it is busy. We went as a couple but it's great for big groups as well maybe with a reservation beforehand.

Food was nice enough but not excellent. Bit cold in restaurant , not bad priced. Music was quite loud for a lunchtime meal. Staff were nice if you could hear over the music.

Quite simply not only the best Spanish food I've ever tasted,but the best dinner,I've had in any restaurant,that I can remember in such a long time! Each dish was so delicious and well presented. Just an immense experience.

Service was late however food was quite delicious.Price was also less than what ı expected btw for two people.

Expensive, noisy, lovely building

On a dark, wet, blustery winter's night, we found solace from the storm with a wanderer's, warm welcome. Fantastic food delivered by wondrous waiting staff. If it's terrific tapas you lustfully long for, you'll find it betwixt the high bridge of Grassmarket and the mile once Royal.

The food and the atmosphere were really good but if I could, I would give the service 10 stars for their professionalism, helpfulness and patience. From communication about the booking to settling the bill, dealing with the stuff was easy and pleasant. The food was varied and delicious with options for vegetarians.

The tapas were amazing and the staff was great too. Super friendly and they helped us with some recommendations. I recommend the lagrimitas de pollo, croquetas de jamón, I think someone asked for pollo al ajillo or maybe it was a different chicken but it was amazing. It was chicken tights and it wasn't deep fried. It was delicious. They have a nice sparkling sangria and cocktails. Very nice place.

TERRIBLE Una vergüenza que llamen a eso comida española. El platito de la izquierda es “aceite de oliva”. La realidad es que era aceite vegetal aguado con un generoso chorro de vinagre. Las croquetas llevan queso en vez de bechamel, el bacalao llevaba muerto un par de años, la paella era comestible pero apenas y las patatas bravas estaban incomibles. Ojalá poder volver atrás y no gastarnos 32 libras en comer con asco.

Had a really terrible meal here tonight. Was excited to have a nice dinner out on my trip to edinburgh but was left disappointed. Should have gone to a takeaway instead. the prawns were so rubbery and tasteless so was the cod which tasted so plain. The potatoes were not cooked well despite being such an easy thing to cook. Left very unhappy and wasted around 20 pounds each on this

Went to this restaurant as a special meal out during my trip to Edinburgh. Was quite excited as the menu looked really good as did the pictures of the place. Although the service was great and the staff was accommodating of our requests for an earlier booking, the food itself was incredibly dissapointing - poorly seasoned and lacking flavour. The patatas bravas were some of the worst I’ve had, completely soggy and the tortilla left quite a lot to the imagination. The prawns were poorly seasoned and the sweet potatoes in the salad were undercooked. Do not recommend at all- not worth the price for such poorly cooked food.

Really great experience as a walk-in on a late Saturday night. Staff were really friendly despite it obviously being a very busy night. Tapas were all tasty. Everything well seasoned which seems so rare nowadays. We were really happy with our choice.

Vá e usufrua de um ambiente lindíssimo, atendimento maravilhoso e comida deliciosa. Muitas tapas saborosas. Você paga dezessete libras por 3 tapas. Pedimos 6 e foi muita comida. Pra um casal 3 tapas mais uma cesta de pães é suficiente. Vinhos ótimos! Amamos muito!

Great wee day out and visit to cafe andaluz x

Have just returned from a really lovely weekend in the beautful city of Edinburgh. I was blown away by the choice of bars and resaurants. On Saturday evening i came across Cafe Andaluz and decided to give it a try. I love Spanish food. My Ex Spanish Mother in law taught me how to make some lovely dishes, my favourite one is Paella. I ordered the Tapas Paella and some Catalan bread.( Pan con tomato) My friend ordered Matballs (Albondigas) and Tortilla Española. What a disapointment... The Paella was like an awful savoury rice, it was dry and far too spicy, the rice itself wasn't "bomba" rice. The Catalan bread was a clumpy lump of watery grated tomatoes. My friends Meatballs were dry and the tomato salsa was disgusting.It was like they had just been warmed up in a microwave. The Tortilla was also quite salty. I complained about the Paella and the waiter apologised and offered to change it. I really didn't want anything else, but ended up with some Tortilla. My complaint wasn't with the waiting staff, it wasn't their fault. My complaint is with whover owns the resaurant. I've had better tapas from back street bars in Spain. This restaurant is in a capital city Edinburgh, the prices weren't cheap. It was an insult to my intelligence as the quality and taste was nothing like genuine Spanish tapas. it is shameful to to try and pass these dishes off as "Spanish" tapas. This is NOT genuine Spanish cuisine. I left the restaurant feeling very angry and disappointed. DO NOT WASTE your money eaing this fake Spanish food.

Abbiamo preso un tea e un espresso. Hanno impiegato quasi 30 minuti a portarlo, probabilmente si erano dimenticati. La posizione è comoda, l’ambiente molto carino e piacevole. I tavoli per mangiare hanno una bella vista, ma il servizio bar riserva solo quelli all’ingresso.

Can't vouch for authenticity of the food but the taste is great and service always match it. Not as expensive as other Spanish places as well.

I was visiting Edinburgh and came here on a recommendation of a friend. At this point, I had been in England for almost a week and was done with pub food. Loved this tapas place! Since it was just me, I had 3 tapas: the eggplant, the mussels, and the chicken skewers + the creme brulee for dessert. Everything was delicious! Since I was a solo diner, they seated me in a corner which I appreciated since I had a nice nighttime view of the castle plus I could do some people watching without being obvious about it. The atmosphere and decorations in the restaurant were pretty nice as well. It was very reasonably priced as well. If you want to try something different, definitely recommend Cafe Andaluz.
