french toastie with nutella and strawberries was amazing. hubby loved his big breakfast. the menu mentions strawberry slices but it was more like a garnish with 2 strawberries sliced at each side. more strawberries would have been nicer as nutella and hazelnuts on its own was too rich once strawberries were finished. I would definitely return and ask for more strawberries next time.

When we first arrived in Milngavie, we roamed around seeking food and found Cafe Alba. We're so glad we did. Great lunch stop and I'd definitely go again if in the area! Nice outdoor seating too!

The most expensive cafe ive ever been in . £8.50 for a breakfast with only 1 of each item ie 1 slice of bacon 1 egg . £4 for a latte. £2.40 for can of cola . Food was ok but nothing special. I didn't order a drink as i only had £10 on me so literally couldn't afford one . The cafe around the corner is half the price and double the amount of food . How they get return customers is beyond me .

This is situated in Main Street in Milgarvie.This restaurant offers a good selection of breakfasts,hot toasted sandwiches,burgers,wraps,fish and chips.Decor is nice and modern.The staff are very friendly.The food is good and hot.Prices are good as the portions are quite big.Overall recommended.yes..Well done.Would like to see the restaurant open Til 5.30pm as I feel you lose customers as you close at 4pm.

Cafe Alba was a favourite lunchtime haunt of my mother-in-law and she always raved about the food and service. Sadly, she's no longer with us, but now that all the bonkers restrictions are officially lifted I'm trying to give as many places my custom as I can, and why not start with local places? Popped in for breakfast and it was superb. The food was cooked to perfection and allied to the best cappuccino I've tasted in a wee while, it was heavenly. Recommend.

Takeaway lunch from here.... 2 bacon rolls, 1 baked potato with cajun chicken + salad. Fresh, tasty and plentiful from cafe Alba. Friendly efficient service from the girls on such a busy day. We were attending for the car show and at lunchtime, we were certainly in need of good food. We weren't disappointed. See you next year. Thank you

When in Glasgow I try to fit in a train journey to Milngavie so can have breakfast at Cafe Alba, it's that good!! Met up with a local friend and had a good catch up. The breakfast really is delicious, I would gladly try the rest of the menu if lived nearer!!

Not local to here but visited when in the area due to good reviews on TripAdvisor. Best club sandwich I’ve ever had and the Cajun wrap was also delicious. Cappuccinos were great too. Friendly staff. Would definitely come back if in the area again!

Busy wee place. We all had tasty lorne sausage on a proper breakfast roll with various coffees. Served very quickly by lovely staff. Will certainly be back next time I’m in the area.

Good value and delicious breakfast. English people should note that the Lorne sausage is a sort of meat loaf rather than a traditional sausage in a skin. But it is delicious. A shame they didn't open a bit earlier than 9.00am for those itching to get started on the West Highland Way.

Nice friendly cafe in the town centre. Have visited here a few times for breakfast, which has always been cooked to perfection. Great service and very accommodating should you want to deviate from the set menu choice. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Ordered a roll with lorne sausage.....could not even cut the roll and the sausage had obviously been cooked long before my order. Ate what I could. When I asked for the bill, the young girl asked if everything had been all right; I pointed at all the food lying on my plate and said that it wasn't really. She then repeated her question to which I said that it really wasn't all right....and she walked away. So did I....and I will not be back.

Lovely cafe with good menu, we had a small breakfast and egg fried roll and couple of coffees well presented and hot, excellent server.

A lovely little restaurant, we have eaten here on previous visits to the area. The food is all freshly cooked to order. They also have a lovely selection of cakes and scones. Staff are all friendly and helpful.

A beautiful September day plus a full cafe equals sitting outside in the sun. Great service and gorgeous food. I had the eggs benedict with one rasher of bacon and one slice of black pudding. Delish! My lunching partner had the soup and toasty combo. French onion soup. Lovely staff, stress free and just right speedwise service. A favourite that never disappoints.

We have visited Alba in the past but returned last week. good Scottish fare.Whether you choose the big breakfast or fish and chips, to mention a few, the food is excellent.

This cafe in Milngavie is a hidden gem. Locals and visitors alike love the fast and friendly service and busy regulars can have their food and drinks "to go"! The signature dish, "Eggs Alba" (poached eggs with smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce) is the best! Try it! You will love it!

Stayed in Milngavie one night to go to event at the folk club, needed a hearty breakfast on a breezy Sunday afternoon before going back to Glasgow for the day before heading home South back to England :( What a breakfast, the best I have had in Scotland, and I travel up alot!! Infact I think next time I'm upto Glasgow going to hop on train to have it again!! Especially liked the haggis and black pudding. Cafe was busy but service friendly and fast, well recommend

Pop in here with my mum every couple of months and the food and service is always very good, with today being no exception. A simple concept but one they do very well with a lovely warm welcome every time. We hope to continue coming here for a long time!

Came for breakfast twice as the beefeater breakfast is expensive to say the least and the alba cafe was better anyway! They happily swapped our black pudding out for an extra fried egg. Good quality Scottish food at reasonable prices. Thank you very much.

Visited on a cold day in December. Warm welcome on entry and staff very attentive and helpful, special mention to Chris. Menu very varied with plenty to choose from to suit all tastes. Food of excellent standard and served very quickly. Will definitely be back.

First visit to Cafe Alba on a dreich day. So glad that a very busy and popular cafe made a table available for us right away. Glad to have the hot breakfasts options at 1:30pm and when my full to brimming bacon roll arrived I was happy that it was served on Glasgow's Favourite Roll. Short of some confusion over a Flat White Coffee I had a lovely visit. Nothing Barista training won't fix i am sure.Congrats on your Best Cafe of 2018 award.

We visited cafe alba for the first and very last time today. We ordered skinny flat white coffees and were served underhand cool tasteless coffees exactly like MacDonald’s. When we very politely approached the very young unprofessional and obviously poorly trained girl “making the coffees” she actually tried arguing with us. When we finally spoke to the polite manager of the shop she actually owned up to the fact that their machine didn’t make skinny white coffees !!!! False false false advertising ... why have that on your menu when you actually can’t make it. The fact that the very immature and less than polite girl making the coffees actually chose to try and argue with us even though we very very polite and discreet is a very poor advertisement overall. Shame on you!!!!

Nice cafe in central location. Busy when we went in, very prompt, friendly service. Stopped for afternoon cup of tea with delicious home made scones with jam and cream. Very good. Reasonably priced. Cafe has recently won an award.

I found the food average but a bit expensive. However good if you want a wee roll and sausage. Place was clean, Service was ok and food as ok too. If in Milngavie I would use rather than some of the other eateries in the centre.

Called in here for breakfast shortly after it opened at 9am between our cases being collected at the station and starting walking the West Highland Way. It was a good veggie breakfast and the coffee and service were good. I imagine that the cafe gets busy as the day goes on, as it was starting to fill up shortly before we were leaving.

Good coffe and well done food, but servings are quite large so “regular” breakfast should be enough for most people :)

The breakfasts are lovely,good value also the the macaroni cheese is gorgeous so are the wraps.iv not got a bad word to say about the food.

Always love a visit here for breakfast. French toastie is amazing, coffee good, breakfasts are great value. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. Outside tables are good to sit with your dog and they'll bring water out for him/her. Sit and watch the world go by!

cafe alba is a great place for a quick lunch/brunch/coffee. Food always fresh and piping hot when served and very tasty. Quick service even when busy. Clean environment and extremely helpful and friendly staff. Homemade cakes and scones always on offer with a good selection. Great coffee. Always happy to tweak the menu to suit your own personal taste. Would highly recommend a visit. Always busy so you may have to wait a couple of minutes for a table. But worth every second.

A welcoming and nicely decorated café with a good basic menu but a bit expensive. It was busy and tables are close together so it was not a place for a quiet chat. Outside tables are a good option.

Stopped for lunch recently, parking nearby Bright surroundings and very clean. Friendly and polite staff, the food was lovely and fresh we had the steak burgers which was reasonably priced. Would recommend and will visit again.

Lovely atmosphere, tasteful decor, friendly staff. Our 9 year old son really enjoyed his French toast with bacon and maple syrup, my wife and I had a very well cooked vegetarian breakfast. Coffee was superb, they grind it in the shop so it's really fresh and flavoursome. Lovely to sit by the window on a quiet Sunday morning, Milngavie has such a nice feel, just wish we could afford to live there!

You can tel when a place is good, always busy! Never been disappointed, close once though, Fruit Loaf was running low, but got the last slice. Staff are very friendly and helpful, food good, with a wide menu.

This is a lovely clean fresh wee café, with lots of choice on the menu. I was here for breakfast and can recommend the French Toastie which was very tasty. The coffee is very nice. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and the service was quick even though the place was busy.

Been to Café Alba three or four times now with the boyfriend, usually on a Sunday for a full breakfast. The addition of Haggis to the breakfast makes it my favourite place to go for one and there are never any issues with swapping out beans etc for another item as I'm fussy. Always busy which is a good sign, too!

Nice clean wee local restaurant with friendly staff and good food. Good for lunch and all day breakfast and if taking an older relative it is good that they will allow a children's portion.

We stopped here for lunch as we arrived in Milngavie. We had soup and sandwich, prices were reasonable and the food was delicious. Staff was helpful and called our innkeeper to pick us up. Highly recommended as the place was crowded.

We decided to go in after not being for a while but seen there was a table free so thought would be a nice treat.I took a seat and didn't feel terribly welcome. Just seemed to be packing people in with little to no service. We waited ages to be seen to after about 10-15 mins without even getting a menu or offered drinks and staff not seeming to be too busy we decided to go else were which is a shame as we had in the past enjoyed the bbq chicken wraps. Maybe worth trying cumbernauld branch maybe run better?

I absolutely love this place - the food is consistently excellent, the menu is varied (I'm veggie and never stuck for choice, but neither are my non-veggie friends) and the service is always prompt and friendly. So many places in Milngavie could learn from this place. The recent refurbishment is a success too - the place feels cosier and the addition of a heater over the door really makes a difference. If I had one observation it would be that the decor feels a little impersonal and doesn't reflect the otherwise warm and friendly atmosphere. A few personal touches wouldn't do any harm. But that's a minor issue - Alba is without a doubt my favourite place to eat in Milngavie.

Were expecting maybe only to get a coffee and a bun as it was close to 4 oclock and had already been turned away from another place as it was closing.However we were pleased to be able to order two large meals without any fuss.

So it is winter and I needed warming up. I popped into this litt;e cafe and ordered the soup and a sandwich deal. The soup was delicious and the toasted sandwich also hit the mark.

Have visited this eateries several times we decided to go again as it had just had a refurb.There are about 4 more tables but still having to turn people away as being full.It is a bit brighter than it was and the same lovely staff.The menu is varied and I thought the prices have gone up since the refurb.Everything is cooked fresh. Choice of breakfasts, sandwiches and soup and also fish and chips among others. We had the omelette and it was huge neither of us could finish it. Most things come with salad or chips.It was so noisy with people chatting. That was the only thing to put me off. Would return

Went for lunch last week. Menu had a good selection. I had the burger which was lovely and very filling. My husband had the club sandwich and had no complaints. Both dishes came with homemade chips that were cooked perfectly. All the dishes j saw being served looked delicious and portions sizes were generous. Staff were very friendly and the prices were reasonable. As i was paying I noticed they had a lovely selection of homemade cakes which I will definitely try next time. Enjoyable lunch and will go back

We come in to Cafe Alba a lot mostly for the breakfast which is great, they also offer take away which is good for a hot roll in the morning. Staff are lovely too but seating is limited. It is nice to sit outside on a warm day too.

Visited this place today and was served by the most rudest of waitress I have ever encountered . Spoke to the manager who apologised to me but I asked if the waitress could apologise as the complaint was against her not the manager . I was disappointed that the waitress could not accept her rudeness and decided not to come over and find the time to apologise so I left. Customers around me witnessed this and also expressed their disbelief. I will not be returning again.

This is a cosy cafe in the heart of milngarvie.The staff are friendly and polite.Food is hot and looks fresh..and you get a large portion..The prices are value for money..great place..

First of all I have to say Café Alba always appears busy, the times I have eaten their the food has been of a good standard, service always been pleasant and consistently good and the place itself is always well keep, clean and vibrant.The negative I find is that the food as good as it usually is often leaves a hole in your pocket. I gather that prices are likely to be aimed at tourists and customers heading to the West Highland way but it doesn't make them value for money. All in all you will get good food but in my opinion overpay for it.

Food really good, breakfasts are amazing with quality ingredients used instead of the cheap sausage and stuff you find in a most places. Downside is the coffee, the way they make it is borderline ridiculous! Scalding hot and the foam on the top is just silly! I mean it really is laughable which is a shame cause it's a lovely wee cafe.
