Stumbled across Cafe 51. Ordered a full breakfast & breakfast frittata. Best breakfast, service, value for money & experience for many years anywhere. Food quality outstanding. Will return.

Love this place. Had prawn & salmon salad. Delicious and loads of prawns in lovely Marie-Rose sauce.

What a lovely cafe with such a cozy atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. No feeling of needing to hurry. Everyone's food/snacks hit the spot!

Disappointed last visit here on 19th April, server was pleasent, her apron was rather grubby, and order was all mixed up, not sure if that was up to her or whoever plated as she didn't seem to have a problem taking it, once we swapped bits n bobs from one plate to the other breakfast was really nice, might not have been exact but very edible, we all have of days so won't stop me returning for what is generally an excellent breakfast

Lovely service. Coffee was lovely and so was the tiffin. As a wheelchair user i got in the door no problem although I cant speak fot their toilet facilities.

Delicious coffee and gluten free capabilities! I didn't order a proper lunch but I did ask about their gluten free options, to which they said they do gluten free bread for soups and sandwiches etc! Lovely relaxed vibe, staff are polite, attentive and fast!

Just a lovely place to relax, enjoy great food and quirky adaptations, just so friendly and the sea view is beautiful. Coffee is really tasty, a good caffeine content and you can add another shot, what a gem right on the best spot on the front.

A lovely place to visit and eat. Food all freshly cooked and the baking is delicious. All served by very friendly and helpful staff. We look forward to returning soon.

Visited Cafe 51 while home visiting family this Christmas and have to say that it will be my go to every time that I am home in Ayr.We stopped in for breakfast and coffee and the food and service were excellent and given that the place was very busy I can now see why.Was told by the waitress that the cakes and scones were all home made so will need to try them on my next visit as I was full after my breakfast.Cafe was also busy with take-aways but this didn't effect the level or speed of service.Can't wait to try the scones on my next visit

Food was good, cappuccino one of the best in Ayr, but was really disappointed to notice one of the waitresses wore her mask underneath her nose, thankfully she wasn’t our server, but when we went to pay by card the same waitress then pulled her mask down completely and also took my husbands bank card from him instead of just passing the the card machine to him, not covid friendly so wouldn’t recommend and won’t be back

I love Neptune Home and there is no better place to visit alongside it than cafe 51

Best cafe I've ever been to, customer service is on point, food is great. Only problem i have is the breakfast portion sizes, they are a bit small for the prices, potentially add more to a breakfast to meet the price.

Lovely cappuccino and delicious scone

Mistakenly assumed would get chips with large portion of tempura. Starter size and no chips for £8. Not competitive.

Sat outside and enjoyed the fresh air. Teapot held a good amount of tea. Scone was large but quantity of jam didn't match size of scone. Plenty of butter though (which I don't like and said I don't want). Good service

Third time I've eaten here with family members snd each time the device is "off". The food is tasty but the waiting staff are unfriendly and unhelpful. This time, my son and I were sitting outside because the cafe was full and the covered area was also full. As soon as a space under the canopy became available I asked if we could move (we hadn't received our food yet). The waitress barely acknowledged me but said I'd have to wait while she cleaned the table. While we were waiting, another couple turned up and she was going to give them the table we'd been waiting for. We weren't offered any salt and pepper or sauces without having to go inside and ask. Never a nice atmosphere at this place and won't be going back.

Decided to try this cafe as it has an outside covered area. Quick and friendly service. I had a green tea and fruit scone....delicious.

It all looked lovely, but having been shown to a table and given a menu I was then ignored for 10 minutes even though there were only 2 other occupied tables and 5 staff. I made it clear I was ready to order but for whatever reason the staff thought their time was better spent chatting to each other. So I left to get on with my day. ☹️

Arrived very early for breakfast. Greeted very warmly by the lady at the desk and asked if I could dine outside, to which I was promptly obliged. The menu was brought out to me almost immediately as I sat down in a pleasant and clean outside area with a charming road side view.Not long after I had decided on my order, the waitress returned and I asked for the French toast and bacon, without maple syrup, which no problem at all.The food arrived in about five minutes and my initial reaction was that I was disappointed with the fact there were only two bits of rather thin looking French toast, and two strips of bacon. For the price of almost £7 I would have expected either thicker bread to be used, or perhaps another piece of toast and bacon.The food itself was pleasant enough, although the French toast being a little less eggy than I would normally expect it to be, and the bacon slightly greasy.All around the food was serviceable, although overpriced for the quantity, while the aesthetic, service and location of Cafe 51 was a relaxing and friendly experience.Would like to visit and try lunch or dinner while sitting inside at some point in the future.Worth a visit!

Passed through on a cycling tour in need of a proper breakfast. We were told that they had just switched to the lunch menu, however the staff were happy to cook five breakfasts for us which we all really enjoyed. Thanks for looking after us and the beaut food and coffees!

Visited here and felt very safe with all the covid precautions in place. I had a bacon and egg roll and my boyfriend had the full Scottish breakfast which were both cooked well and flavoursome.

Once again we experienced great food and excellent service at Cafe51. Dropped in for an impromptu lunch. First thing you notice is that the place is immaculate. We’re shown to a table and menus brought straightaway. Order taken quickly and didn’t have long to wait for delicious food, having the Cajun chicken omelette and the large chicken tempura. Fresh, tasty, excellent, can’t complain!

I am a local boy who finds this cafe the best in the whole of Ayrshire. The food is great as well as service with quick waiting times for food. I visit at least once a month and when I do it never fails to disappoint me !

Amazing cooked breakfast, best I’ve had in a long time. Very friendly and polite staff, spotlessly clean, modern decor; definitely give it a visit, you won’t be disappointed! We were only in Ayr for 2 nights, enjoyed the breakfast so much we went back the following morning. Thank you Cafe 51!

I really want to thank this cafe, having been on a bus from Girvan, unfortunately I needed to use the toilet, having a hidden disability can be very embarrassing at times. Although my Guesthouse, The Lochinver (best in Scotland!!) was nearby, it was an emergency!! The staff were lovely and let me use the toilet, without explanation, or embarrassment. I bought some cakes to take away, although there had been no pressure to. So, a big thank you to the staff, I will call in next time in Ayr and have some lunch (oh and get some cakes to take home!)

I would definitely not recommend this place! I went in today (Sunday) and followed the sign for take away orders. The girl at the desk then half opened a bottle of coke (which I told her not to do as I wanted to take it away and not opened). Then I ordered a chicken and ham pizza. There was no option on the system for this as bizarrely you can only order a bbq chicken pizza. However, she typed into the notes 'no bbq - normal chicken only' (I knew this was a recipe for disaster as kitchen staff aren't known for their reading and writing skills). However, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and didn't think that they could muck this simple order up... (famous last words). Sure enough, after a 10 - 15 minute wait I drove all the way home (taking another 10 minutes - stopping at 2 temporary traffic lights along the way) and when I opened the box the stench of bbq hit me! Couldn't believe it! I took it straight back and asked for my money back, the girl who served me (tanned skin, think she was some kind of supervisor) said they could make another one but I said I didn't have time and wanted a refund! She ignored me after that and didn't say another word; No apologies, couldn't care less, treated me like I was the nuisance, blah, blah, blah (usual callous attitude toward paying customers treating us with nothing but contempt). This is the second time in a row they have got an order wrong as last time I was there I asked for an extra chilli dip with my chicken tempura, and when I got home no extra dip to be found! All in all, a terrible place which clearly has managers and supervisors that couldn't care about customers, an ordering system that doesn't take into account not everyone likes bbq chicken and kitchen staff that can't read and write properly! Avoid!!! (*** Update ***) The response from the owner clearly shows a total disregard for my complaint and exposes their total hostility and contempt for customers! Where on Earth did I exhibit ANY personal attacks on staff members??? I merely expressed my experience with them! The owners response here is totally defensive and not conciliatory, clearly he/she defends terrible customer service! The fact that I was ignored and no apologies were forthcoming when they were the ones in the wrong is something that the owner clearly instils in his staff as being acceptable! Again, I say AVOID this place because when anything does go wrong (and it will) you can see what will happen... the staff will gang up on you and it will all be your fault! Horrendous attitude! Truly disgusting actually!

Sat outside as no seats available inside. Ordered our food and during our meal the rain came on quite heavy. We had to run inside carrying our plates while staff just watched us, rain water on plates and had to run back out for our tea again rainwater in our tea. Not once did staff come to help or offer to replenish our food or drinks.

Not nice, scrambled egg was rubber and service staff were appalling .

Great Breakfast at Cafe 51 , and really nice staff

Regular customers. Ordered 4 breakfasts. 2 of them had sliced sausage. Both eaters bit into the sausage, both tasted wrong, smell also coming from the sausage. Called the waitress over and explained that the sausage was off. She took it away and came back in under a minute. We were told the sausage is delivered daily and therefore isn’t off. We paid in full and left. Not in any particular hurry to return. Meh.

As a revular to Cafe 51 before, during & after lockdown, I always find the staff friendly & attentive. The food is very good quality, with a wide choice for a cafe. In my experience, it offers the best value for money in the town.

regular visitor to cafe 51 before lockdown, breakfast normally the best in Ayr but today was terrible,the full scottish breakfast was terrible,microwaved poached egg looked like something from a mcdonalds mcmuffin, the link sausage had been boiled and half cooked and was terrible to taste , mushrooms were dry as a bone and reminded me of rehydrated camping rations and the tattie scone had been flung in the deep fat fryer and tasted of old fryer oil, bacon was like rubber and tasteless. coffee was fab as always and everthing else was up to the usual standards that the other people in my company recieved hopefully things will improve with practice now lockdown is over but it's a shame because I have been looking forward to a cafe 51 breakfast for months to be sadly disappointed

Very tasty lunch today in nice surroundings. Consistently impressed with this place, good food, pleasant staff and reasonable prices. Not cordon bleu but varied and interesting food, well presented, something for everyone, good at what they do.

Well, Birthday lunch at Café 51 was real success. There’s not many places in Ayr that cook from scratch with fresh ingredients and this place obviously does, and topped off with wonderful staff this made our visit absolutely perfect. Thank you 😊

Been meaning to write this review for ages and finally got around to it. This place has been a godsend during lockdown. We are regulars at the sister venue Pandora which is unfortunately closed at the moment but the takeaway coffees and filled rolls here are of the same excellent quality. They serve the best tastiest coffee in town which is properly hot unlike the disappointing luke warm efforts you get everywhere else. Great to see a local business doing well and helping us out in these troubled times and we can't wait to get back in properly soon hopefully.

Mum & Dad visit every day, even through the pandemic. Very safe, nice staff & always good products both to eat & drink. Well done to all of the team

The greasiest chicken tempura ever. It was truly awful. The batter was also a fish batter and nothing like a tempura batter.When I called to tell them of this the lady on the phone said she would pass my comments on! At this I advised her that I would be returning it for a refund which to be fair she quickly agreed too.However, had a bacon roll a few days earlier which was delicious. Also scones good although last 2 orders have been wrong (both times they mixed up number of fruit and plain scones - not noticed until home!)

Great food, just a shame you cannot reserve a table. We had to wait around in the pouring rain for 15 minutes.

We were here today for breakfast and wow. We all had the full Scottish breakfast. I had the scrambled egg with both black and fruit pudding. The fruit pudding was absolutely delicious, best I have ever had. Even the toast was brilliant. I had hot chocolate which was amazing. I think we have found a new favourite place to eat. Staff can never do enough for you.

The ultimate cafe in Ayr except for their sister cafe, Pandora in The Sandgate. I've been drinking their fantastic carryout coffee for over 25 years and I haven't tasted a better scone anywhere else, not forgetting their tasty food.

Went for lunch here, myself and 2 teenage children. Staff were very friendly the food was fresh, tasty, plenty of choice too. It was quite busy when we were in but the service was good, we would eat here again next time visiting Ayr.

First visit to Cafe 51 for breakfast. Arrived at 9am and the place was very busy, always a good sign. Breakfast menu was limited but less choices at this time in the morning is probably best, and all my favourite options were covered. We were met with friendly service. In regard to service the 2 girls front of counter were very polite and friendly, makes a huge difference to the enjoyment of your food. The cafe is well presented, modern and Covid friendly. Track & trace cards and hand sanitizer were on each table. Excellent to see. I had the main breakfast and every item was nicely cooked and very fresh and tasty. Value for money was excellent with the big breakfast only £6.95, £3 cheaper than Scott’s last week but of a much better quality imo I would definitely recommend Cafe 51 for a visit. They had a lot of nice cakes on display so I would definitely come back for 11’s one day or for lunch/dinner. Cafe 51 added to my new list of local favourites.

Was in Ayr last week staying at Grange View B&B and Jonathon the owner recommended a visit to Cafe 51 - One of the best recommendations I have had! Great Gafe with good food & best Latte I have ever had. Even during this Coronavirus period the Cafe was busy inside & out BUT staff were ensuring social distancing, recording names & addresses and cleaning everything down between customers. Hand sanitiser going in to the Cafe & bottles on every table. Take-out food & drinks was also buy. Fantastic staff, we went back every day we were in Ayr. Safe, clean and friendly what more can you want. Will definitely be back when I am next in Ayr.

My son & I ordered 2 cafe 51 take away afternoon teas today for a school project and we loved them. The sandwich, cake and scone choices were excellent and you have the option of tea or coffee for just £8.95 per afternoon tea. The sandwiches were generous, fresh and delicious. The tray bakes were yummy, especially the Malteser cake. The service was above and beyond. I asked via email yesterday evening for extra help due to being in the at risk group and being disabled. I was contacted back almost immediately. They phoned me this morning to let me know the cake choices, took my payment over the phone and placed our boxed afternoon teas in the boot of our car when we went to collect the order. I noticed they have an excellent one way in and out queuing system where the order is taken at the door. I was so impressed overall and I can’t recommend it more. We will be back!

Honestly Miss going there with all this. Such a friendly place all the staff are lovely!

A lovely popular place, good food, great coffee, lovely friendly staff. The atmosphere is always pleasant and is a great place to have a catch up with a friend.
