Lovely meal here, great service, very reasonable prices, spotlessly clean, will 100% return on our next trip to London

Ordered bruschetta and chicken Milanese, both tasted good. Not finger-licking good, but pretty good. Service was good too.

Best little gem by far! The food, wine and cocktails were delicious, and the staff were superb! Cocktails were a dream and only around £11! Not bad for the strand prices! Shout out to Lulu and the gentleman at the end of the night, who we got talking to and both gave us hugs. So good we went back twice in 1 day! You definitely need to go if you're close by

Fantastic restaurant on the strand perfectly placed by a number of theatres. The food was delicious and the service was quick and friendly. We shared a margherita pizza, mixed salad and the calamari. All tasted amazing and the chilli olive oil was very good.

Very bad experience. There is nothing Italian about it. Booked with the fork they even denied us the discount. Keep away

0 in all, there is nothing Italian about it, except the sign. We booked with the fork and we immediately told the waiter before assigning the table but they didn't give us the discount on the final bill. They told us that after 9pm there is no discount, but this information is not written on the fork. In short, if you want to waste your money and your stomach, L'Ulivo restaurant is the one for you.

Super staff, beautiful interiors with a stunning mezzanine layer perfect for groups. Service was great but food was simple bland / basic but they were super accommodating with our different requirements and a last minute booking for a large group. Lovely evening had by all. Very good value 2 course menu available for 24.95

What a lovely Italian restaurant. We went after the London Winter Run event and it was a treat, delicious food and good service. Our waiter was so friendly and helpful with recommendations, highly recommend…

Went by last night after a show. We were poorly received, the waiters were in a bad mood, they went out to smoke cigarettes in front of the door, no smile, came to clear the plates as soon as they had finished eating... they wanted to leave... frankly, bad mood, bad mood, It can happen, but a little respect would have been good came….

My first time in this restaurant and I wasn't disappointed. Food was excellent and staff friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

Overall bad. Basics service standards were missed and subpar food quality. Raw pizza dough. Definitely not an authentic Italian restaurant. Can’t recommend nor I’ll be going back

Wir wollten zu italienisch Abendessen und fanden bei vorbeigehen dises Restaurant. Das Ambiente war traumhaft schön aber leider der Service grauenhaft. Wir hatten essen bestellt und die Servicekraft meinte, ob wir die Vorspeise und Hauptspeise zusammen haben wollen, weil es lange Wartezeiten dazwischen geben würde. Nach der Vorspeise folgete die Haupspeise. Die Teller wurden uns einfach dahin gelegt ohne zu sagen wem was oder was es ist. Ausserdem ist kartenzahlung unerwünscht :). Essen war auch nit das beste, Spaghetti Bolognese ist nicht empfehlenswert.

I don't generally give 1 star but this time, I felt it is necessary. I understand tipping culture has soared, but an automatically added 25% service charge for a party of 4 is quite the steep charge. Adding on a condescending attitude from a manager is what I believe prompts this review. Albeit the food and general staff deserves higher than a 1 star, the overall experience was severely impacted by the exchange with the manager. Felt unwelcoming and taken advantage of as a tourist especially after seeing a receipt from previous reviews showing only 12.5% as a service charge a year ago. Inflation goes hard, but double it and pass it to someone else.

We're tourists (three of us), experiencing London for the first time. Our visit to L'ulivo was one of the most disappointing dining experiences ever. Honestly, it was the worst, and I wouldn't suggest anyone dine here. While I typically keep my experiences to myself, it's crucial to highlight the dishonesty of this establishment to protect both tourists and locals. Due to jetlag, we had a late meal and decided to try this restaurant, one of the few open late at night. We ordered mussels, spaghetti bolognese, chicken penne, and lamb shank. The mussels lacked flavor, the spaghetti was too watery, and the lamb shank and penne were just okay. Upon paying, we noticed a hefty 25% service charge already added to our bill. Given the service quality, we felt this charge was excessive. We politely asked our waiter to adjust it to 15%, understanding that London often includes service charges automatically. Shortly after, the "Manager" introduced himself and asked, "What's the problem?" We explained that the applied service charge exceeded our satisfaction with the service. He responded with “Reason?” in a tone that did not belong in any aspect of customer service. The manager insisted it was standard in London, responding, "You can go anywhere, and they will charge you this." We insisted on changing the service charge, and the manager reluctantly complied. There is no reason for a 25% service charge for three people with no children or disabilities. In any country, tipping is considered an additional gesture of appreciation. The manager's condescending response was unwarranted and not appreciated. On our way out, we asked our server about L'ulivo's average service charge, and he informed us it was 12%. We knew then that it was an attempt to take advantage of tourists. I would even go as far as to argue that there might have been an element of racism involved in this situation. I strongly advise fellow tourists to avoid this place, especially if the male manager with long blond hair is still working there. His dishonesty and disrespectful attitude were completely unacceptable and made what was already a mediocre experience worse. This individual single-handedly tainted the entire dining experience.

Huge service charge of 25%, average meals.

If you can avoid a disappointment please choose elsewhere, by an Italian 😔

Very well located for a quick theatre meal. This restaurant does get quite busy, they have a lovely hostess at the door who does a great job of getting the crowds in. The service is reasonably fast and the food is ok. It is slightly on the pricy side for the menu that they offer but the atmosphere and space is the restaurant is quite nice. The cocktails were not the best in comparison to what is on offer within close proximity. I came here as the restaurant I was planning to was fully booked and had a long waiting time. I find at this restaurant they always seem to have availability despite how busy they can get. I probably would not visit this restaurant again but saying that it can be a good last minute option when places are booked up and you don’t have a reservation for a pre theatre meal in that area.

Accueil vraiment sympa, les serveurs sont au petits soins, un peu d'attente pour se faire servir une grande assiette moitier vide avec des pâtes au saumon fâdes et crême fraiche invisible, pour un plat signature c'est dommage surtout au vu du prix, une mauvaise experience ne veut pas dire un mauvais restaurant, essayez rien que pour voir des serveurs attentionnés !

Wir haben dort durch Zufall zu Abend gegessen. Wir bekamen relativ zügig einen Tisch und das Essen war gut. Nachdem wir im Anschluss nicht gleich ein Dessert bestellen wollten, bekamen wir direkt die Rechnung zum Tisch gebracht - nicht sonderlich nett aber okay - sie wollten uns schnell wieder loswerden. Wir bezahlten Bar - hatten jedoch den Betrag nicht genau - haben demnach mehr auf das Tablet gelegt .. die Kellnerin kam und hat alles mitgenommen. Auch Minuten später kam niemand mit unserem Retourgeld. Dann kam ein anderer Kellner und sah uns komisch an warum wir denn noch immer da sitzen, daraufhin haben wir geantwortet das wir noch immer auf unser Retourgeld warten. Unverschämt..!! Die Kellnerin hätte sich einfach so den Restbetrag eingestrichen!! Sie kam dann unfreundlich und ohne Entschuldigung und hat uns das Geld einfach hingelegt .. Daher würden wir hier nicht mehr hingehen…

Don’t. We made a reservation for 11 and they took 20 minutes to seat us despite the reservation. Within an hour we had only received drinks of which they got the order wrong TWICE, and when the food finally came the chicken and pizza was undercooked. the staff were unhelpful and aggressive.

Very nice entrance and service all was good

Found this little gem as we were wanting something light. We were not disappointed, greeted by a very friendly Lady who gave us time to look over the outside menu. Once inside it was lovely, a few other patrons but not crowded. We were given plenty of time to look at the menus. The soup was divine, our 2nd starter was the goats cheese and bruschetta absolutely delicious. We picked a pizza to share, it was a good size, looked pleasing to the eye, hot and very well presented.We were left with our food, but the staff were never far-away if we needed. The atmosphere was inviting the staff very friendly. Cost wise it was very agreeable for the quality and quantity of the food. So very happy we found this lovely restaurant among the big names. Thanks to the whole team for a lovely visit.

L'Ulivo on The Strand is exceptional! The pollo alla milanese was perfect, the pasta al sugo took me back to my grandma's kitchen, and the dessert was divine. Service and location are spot on. A five-star experience!

They promoted fish and chips and took my cousin who is visiting to try it. Obviously not an Italian classic but since they were promoting it we gave it a try. It was the worst fish and chips - not fresh, extremely stale but 20£. As I mentioned it to staff they laughed at us for ordering it and didn't even have us a solution. 0/10

Had a lovely dinner there tonight. The lasagna with bolognese sauce was delicious and the salad very well balance with cheese, lettuce, apples & pumpkin seeds. Bring Italian, I’m pretty picky about my sauce. They did a great job!

Fuimos el día de fin de año (no teníamos mesa en otro restaurante y nos salvó), la verdad es que la comida fue muy decepcionante. Lo que menos nos gustó es la enorme diferencia entre calidad precio. Un restaurante que debería costar aproximadamente la mitad o menos, nos costó 100£ dos personas, y comimos 3 platos. Sitio NO recomendado para ir, la calidad es MUY baja y el precio MUY alta.

I love this place!! My brother is autistic and was having a meltdown so I came in for some very quick takeaway, and they assured me it would be ready in about 4-5 minutes. It actually took about 10 but that’s still very quick. The staff were super nice, I was greeted warmly and they let me chill at a table while I waited. When they brought out my food, the person I believe is the manager assured me he looked through the bag and made sure everything was correct. It was! I am staying about 45-60 minutes from the restaurant and I was wondering how I would plan to heat it up when we got home BUT they package food like the Asian Restaurants where it’s still piping hot when you’re home. Wonderful! I am vegan and they had MAGNIFICENT vegan options. I had the vegan gnocchi and it was incredible, I inhaled the whole thing. I also had the vegan chocolate tart for dessert and oH my GOD I am 100% convinced it was the absolute best thing I ever tasted. I called my whole family omnivorous into the kitchen (including my autistic little brother) and they all agreed it was fantastic!! SO rich!! Upon leaving, the manager asked all four of us to come back again for a sit-down meal soon. We just might do that today!! Great place!

This place is a really gorgeous venue, beautifully decorated and I am sure it is usually a great place to eat, but I will say that I think my friend and I likely just caught them on a bad day. It started with our drinks. I ordered a pinot grigio blush, a rosé wine, but I was brought a glass of white. When I questioned our waitress, she said she wasn't sure and I confirmed a blush should be pink. She confirmed with the bar staff and came over to explain that they got it wrong and apologised. It's fine, I can drink white. My friend got an espresso martini, which inexplicably tasted like black pepper to the point that she couldn't finish it. Then the food. I ordered the chefs special risotto, with leeks, asparagus and mushrooms, but when it arrived there was no green, only mushroom. I think our lively waitress had gone on break at this point so I asked the waiter who brought our dishes "this is not the chef's special which I ordered is it?", to which he said "no" and walked away. Despite being wrong, it was delicious and I did eat it, but it was just frustrating that nothing I ordered was right. My friend got the pasta primavera, which she said was lovely but the vegetables were very al dente, bordering on raw. All in all, delicious food, in a beautiful atmosphere but a mixed bag of service from our experience.

A great Italian restaurant, we prebooked a table for six people for an early evening meal. Lovely atmosphere, busy but not over crowded. Staff friendly and drinks were quick to arrive while we pondered the menu. I had the bruscetta followed by spinach and ricotta tortellini, absolutely delicious 😋 The rest of the party enjoyed their dishes. We were able to stay at our table and finish off with leisurely coffee ☕️ A great find on our visit to London.

We came here to eat a light meal (we had breakfast a few hours before) and we had plenty of time until our departure. I didn't expect the restaurant to be that huge, but it was also very lovely even if the atmosphere was quite cold. We chose the "baked goat cheese on bread with honey and sliced pears" and "burrata with pesto dressing and pumpkin seeds and walnut". Both dishes tasted okay, but were very expensive for what you get. We were very disappointed that the waitresses obviously didn't like their job. The service took a lot of time and was veeery unmotivated. There was no smile at all but short cutting glances especially when we had payed and hadn’t left right after that. The restaurant is nice, the food was okay but not lovingly prepared and there's a lot of development potential concerning the service.

Very nice at first but the service ruined everything. The waitress who accommodated us at the table has lack of manners and simply does not fit into such a lovely environment. The young lad, the order taker, was kind of arrogant and unpleasant. I ordered risotto with mushrooms and some vegetables, and as I noticed there are vegan options for other dishes I asked if mine can be too. "I'll ask", this was his answer, and I have never seen him again. A waitress who greeted us and served at first was I would say very straightforward without proper manners with very basic English skills. Clearly, staff must be upskilled and better selected. My impression was that they do not like contact with people which is not what you would expect in the restaurant. A sincere smile would be appreciated, but if they do not like this job, and people, they should maybe think of some changes in their career. Nice place, but a lot to improve in regards to the service. The food is tasty but way too expensive. No car park which is a big disadvantage, although not so much surprising as it is in the heart of London. Adelphi Theatre was right next door which was the whole point of visiting the city.

I have ordered calamari, penne primavera and a glass of rosso red wine. Calamari was not fresh and pasta was pretty standard, as I can cook it at home. more importantly, aubergines in the pasta were not cooked. Also it is very expensive, I paid £38. However, they were quick and nice that is why I gave 3 stars.

came here on monday 13th and the food was incredible, had the spaghetti with mussels and prawns and was very impressed, everything was delicious and topped it off with the tiramisu for dessert which was also incredible, after paying the bill the owner came over and gave us a free shot of amaretto(best amaretto i’ve had) was just the perfect date for me and my girlfriend, thankyou!

Lovely restaurant, close to most of the Theatre's, all the food cooked fresh so allow plenty of time, staff very polite and helpful, does get very busy from 5pm till 8pm so booked in advance, we also used The Fork app which gave 50% off food bill.

Very slow service, had to call for their attention a couple of times, some of my table came 10 minutes late but it still took staff over half an hour to give us a menu and we had to get up and ask. They never offered me a drink or water while I waited. When I asked for tap water they gave me half a jug for a table of 6. Not the best start but they did get better, and the food was tasty and reasonable priced. If service was better I would have given 4 stars

L'ulivo has been one of the best restauants during our vacation in London. We've had a great time. It' s clean, has a nice ambiente and has friendly server. The food was delicious and the price-worthy. I truly recommend it to those who wish to eat good italian food.

The starter and main were average. The tiramisu was really disappointing (and bad): an industrial frozen one that was not fully defrost in its heart. I know that the standards are fairly low in most restaurants in England, but this is shameful for a restaurant on the Strand describing itself as delivering fresh and authentic Italian food. I wouldn't come back

Nonostante la prenotazione abbiamo aspettato 40 minuti per avere il tavolo. Durante la cena il servizio era molto lento, abbiamo aspettato mezz’ora prima di ricevere le bevande e altrettanto prima di ricevere il cibo. Abbiamo ricevuto un dolce sbagliato, che hanno poi provveduto a cambiarlo. Nonostante questo le pizze erano buone.

Ce restaurant italien très bien situé,fait de la bonne cuisine italienne, les pâtes et pizzas sont fraîches et de belle proportion. Rapport qualité prix raisonnable. Ils servent tard même en sortant des spectacles proches sur cette zone. L’accueil est très sympa, et ils ont une playlist de musique au top. C est beau, bon,sympa et accessible!

The food was lovely but ,unfortunately, the service wasn't. We had to ask 3 times for our wine before we eventually got it. We were half way through our meal by then. We asked for the dessert menu but after waiting for quite a while we gave up and asked for our bill. The same waitress then came back with the dessert menus ! What a shame.

Too much delay to order, the pizza was not baked enough and the quality was poor, a dish was wrong because the waiter did not understand English. Also, the bill had the wrong order and the price was higher and the manager told us that the price was the same. Even though the price difference wasn’t big, his attitude was bad. I would not recommend this place at all!

This is such a lovely place to eat ! The dinner was delicious and very nice staff, we were helpt bij Sabrina and Christian. Very friendly and making sure that we had a nice meal/evening.

We went here with Christmas because everything else was closed. We felt really welcome because of Christian and we saw he really has heart for the restaurant. Sabrina helpt us pick out a wine and she was really lovely! Very good food and lovely staff. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Place was nice, staff friendly. Though have to give just 2 stars due to the size of the pasta dishes. These are small compared to the price. I was still hungry after eaten my pasta dish but didn't want to spend another £20 for another pasta meal. I mean pasta isn't expensive is it? Pizza size was good for the money. My friend had a pizza and was good size. I wish I had ordered the pizza instead. Drinks overpriced but to be expected in this area. I would advise to get a pizza over the pasta due to small pasta potions and prices.

Arrived here without a booking. We were made very welcome and given a table for 2. Food was excellent, wine was first class and prices were very reasonable

10/12/22 Good food. Poor service. Had to remind waiter at every stage to providing menus to water to coming to take the order to clear the table then to ask for desert menu and then to get the desert order etc. we booked table at 1.30pm but got the table at 2.20pm and the food order half an hour later

Decent Italian food and good service

Simply delicious. One of the best Italian meals I’ve had, I’d highly recommend the calamari and seafood pasta (fresh seafood!), there was a great variety of dishes on the menu. The restaurant felt luxurious, clean and is very photographic both outside and inside. Super friendly and attentive staff. The food was beautifully prepared, very fresh, tasty and was of abundant size. The wine list was a pleasure to browse with an excellent broad range of Italian wines. The service was good and the general buzz felt just right. Excellent! Will be coming here again! 👌🏽

Always busy but good Italian food

A few staff members were very courteous, the rest were rude, inconsiderate and lacked basic customer service etiquettes.

What can I say. Rude waitress, one meal missing and had to chase twice. Burger way over priced, not worth £17.50, would have been disappointed paying £7.50 for it. Pizzas hardly had any toppings. Had run out of Peroni on tap for £6.95 a pint was offered small bottle for £5.95. Probably the most disappointing meal I have ever had. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

At first appearance it was such a beautiful setting. We were a group of three and were spoiled for choice with the food on the menu as it all sounded so good. We decided on 3 courses each. We tried a little of each others food, it was delicious and the portions were great too. Our waitress Sabrina was so attentive and very friendly, she made us feel very well looked after. I would highly recommend and I will definitely be returning. Thank you for a great night.

Pizza menu is rly vast and size of pizza was great definitely recommend pizza. Some pastas food portion equivalence to prize was bit disappointing but the place looks fancy and it's not to expensive.

What a shame. I picked this place for my 30th as I love Italian food and the place looked beautiful and reviews were good. But what a DISAPPOINTMENT. I made this booking for a group of 15 people a month in advance and even called to re-confirm prior to the date. It was booked for 5.30pm but even before the booking time I had a call from the restaurant telling me they are busy and in a rush. We arrived early anyway at around 5.15pm and from the moment we entered we were greeted with “we are very busy so you don’t have too long” we were quickly ushered to our table and constantly had someone repeating through the whole night that we need to order, there is another big booking coming and we needed to hurry up. I had 3 friends still to join us at the restaurant as they were coming all the way from Essex and yet even though we were early for our booking we were badgered to order starters and mains immediately. It felt very pressured and not considerate for the people still to join. I chose this place to enjoy my birthday with some dear friends I hadn’t seen in years and to be constantly pressured to hurry to make our order and hurry to eat and hurry to pay and hurry to leave was no nice at all. We were being rushed from the minute we walked through the door Multiple people were disappointed with their food aging it was cold or bland and had no flavour. One of my friends sent the food back. Half the group ate only half the food. The service from the restaurant (although we were being rushed throughout!) was so slow!! We had to wait 30 mins at one point for a drink. About 15min for a bowl of cheese. Was given a basket of bread with about 6 pieces to share among all of us! And at the end we had a cake and asked for some plates and again was badgered about hurrying up and leaving but yet they took another 15min just to give us some plates to eat from. On top of this, payment was a mess. Due to being rushed out the door, whilst some people were still eating their mains we were being asked to get up and go to the counter to pay for our food. The server was then rushing so much that he charged people incorrect amounts and charging twice for certain items and had to make refunds Never have I experienced such awful service and definitely not the way I wanted to spend my birthday. A booking was made for a large group spending a lot of money and from the minute we arrived it felt like we were just wanted out. If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy the food, relax with friends and have a great calm atmosphere, then this is NOT the place. I had chosen this restaurant ahead of many others as I thought it would be special but it appears I chose the wrong place and going here is only filled with regret.
