Buxton Tap House in High Peak

We had a lovely afternoon meal at the Tap House! I would thoroughly recommend the lamb mint burger and the Lupulus citrus beer. Would recommend to anyone. Good value, service and very very tasty!

I heard a rumour that the fabled Chef Robert Peeling was running the kitchen at the Tap house and I had to see if they were true. Whispers of his return have been heard from the four corners of the world - mutterings of his name in alien tongues echoed across the land - an enigma shrouded within an mystery... I ordered the sunday dinner and waited, patiently foaming at the mouth in anticipation for what was to pass. When the meal arrived my extremities were quivering with excitement! Never before I have I felt the soft contours of my face glow in such a way. The presentation, the taste, the mouth feel! I felt as though mayhaps it was a meal prepared by the gods for fallen angels to devour before making battle with lucifers servants. What am I to do? After ingesting this meal I am now nothing more than a vascuous husk - consumed by sorrow and suffering at the thought of swallowing anything prepared by mortals.

For ‘no need to book’ written on chalk board outside, read booking not possible and there will be no space when you turn up later and staff will be indifferent and dismissive. 5 disappointed adults

Visited for a late lunch with my partner. We both had sandwiches, Mediterranean veg for myself and beef brisket for my partner. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly.

I returned to Buxton and this venue was one of the key reasons! The beer that Buxton produces is some of the best ive tried. Now they have added a kitchen which only enhances the place. The staff are knowledgevale and friendly and this is a must visit for a craft/real ale fan! Sat enjoying a pint of phoenix as I write this!

We booked here for food on a busy Saturday night, the only thing which let it down was they had forgotten about our reservation. They did however sort this, but felt bad for moving some others off tables! The food at first looked very generic pub food, however the food was fantastic! A lot more than it looked on the menu. Good selection of beers and friendly staff.

We visited 4 times across two days and found the staff friendly, helpful and, given a recent comment, tables were regularly cleaned when people left. The beers were well kept, tasty and reasonably priced. We did not have the food though it looked very good.

Just eaten for the first time since they re-introduced food. It was excellent: had a beef burger with lots of trimmings, fries and slaw. Great taste and great service! We are glad food is back!

This looked full of promise from the outside but was somewhat of a disappointing experience. The staff, although friendly, obviously had little experience. The coffees arrived like warm. My friend had to send hers back, and the counter tops and tables were sticky. We are unlikely to visit again.

Had a great lunch from the ‘small plate’ selection. The haddock chowder was amazing and pulled beef tacos and burrata salad very good. The portion sizes were good so I wouldn’t describe them as small plates. We shared 3 between 2 and were very well fed. Staff very friendly and helpful.

We came here for lunch on the day the kitchen has just reopened after a year. We ordered from the small plates menu and were not disappointed! I had the lamb meatballs which came in a rich tomato sauce, which were beautifully herby and soft. My mum had the lamb kofta which is the best she’s ever had. We also had a side order of truffle Parmesan fries which were amazing. Reasonably priced and wonderful food, staff were attentive and friendly too, will definitely return! Hope to try the desserts next time.

It’s a great atmosphere in the bar . There were only two serving so long queues . There’s no food which us a shame . It wasn’t too warm so we left our coats on .

This is our second visit to this venue this one being just after lockdown. We booked a table in advance (timed slot) and on arrival were escorted to a table socially distanced from the other tables. We were supplied with disposable menus for both the food and the beer choice which we found offered a good choice of options. It was all table service including paying for our meal, the staff were all really friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.

After being shown to one of the tables by the window by the welcoming and friendly member of staff I was delighted to be told that all the cask, keg and bottled beers with the exception of two were vegan friendly. The flight of three thirds was a great way to sample only a fraction of the excellent variety on offer. The décor is smart and minimalist with exposed stonework, diffused lighting and muted colours.

The Buxton Brewery Tap is superb. It fully showcases a diverse selection of the brewery's beers, and the food is spot on. The staff were super friendly. A must visit for any beer enthusiast, booking in advance is recommended. We visited on a Monday at 7pm and it was busy!

This is bar and restaurant in a good location in the centre of Buxton. Very popular so it's important to book. They have a really good 'wall' of craft ales to choose from, and you can buy these in 1/3 pint measures so it's easier to try quite a few different ones. The food menu is a little limited, maybe due to the current virus situation, but what we had was very nice. The staff are friendly, although quite busy so it could take some time to get their attention. The restaurant itself is roomy and sensibly spaced for social distancing, although we found it somewhat cold -there was a nasty draft from the door to the outside seating area which was continually left open by staff and other guests.

Called in Sunday 4th Oct with friends just for a few drinks and it was a nice experience. Seated straight away and enjoyed some nice ales. Friendly and prompt service and the particular lager beer I had was superb. You can have smaller glasses of ale too if you prefer. This pub has a nice vibe and a cosy feel about it. We had a lovely meal pulled pork on a sweet waffle (although that was strange) and the beef brisket which the meat fell apart. Staff (Martin) very helpful, pleasant and polite and very knowledgable about the area. Cleaniness was excellent.

My fiancé and I enjoyed our visits here during a weekend break to Buxton. There is a large range of drinks here, including some unusual ones. I loved the Buxton gin. The service is good and the atmosphere/decor is great with a modern/laid-back feel. You do need to book a table in advance to ensure availability. Well worth a visit.

Excellent friendly service. Not a huge food menu but great quality and tasty food. We got sliders Beef brisket platter and waffle with pulled pork and shared it all between 3 of us. Definitely recomend all of those! Great coffee too Dog friendly too

We’re regular customers and come once a week or so and are big fans. Beer is great and we recently visited with family for a meal and food was superb. Just some feedback; recent visits with the new table service haven’t been as great as on past 3 occasions we have been seated and have had to wait over 20mins before someone came to order drinks. Don’t want to be rude but it seems like a lot of the staff just stand and chat at the bar and not customer focused (with the exception of a few) , might have worked when normal bar service but not so great now. As a result we have gone elsewhere for drinks.

We visited after we had eaten as we wanted to try the different local beers. They do a flight of beers where you can try 3 different 1/3 pints. The brewery also do a really nice (if not pricey) gin which I tried with a fentimans tonic. I preferred the lighter beers and my husband the dark ones in general. The pub is lovely in modern, micro brewery style but it was very dark, the waitress did move us to a table near the window but it was still dark. They seem to be doing well with social distancing and sanitising tables etc and were very pleasant. No staff wearing masks but they are not required to, plenty of people in for a mid week night. Not cheap but very nice produce, they do meals too ,burgers etc.

the service was excellent with a smile. the staff had a bounce in their step. the beer was good and we enjoyed the food.

On holiday and liked the look of the menu so popped in. The pub/restaurant was very clean and the staff very efficient and friendly. I had the beef brisket board and hubby thecod burger both delicious. I was uable to finish mine. Hubby enjoyend the different beers. We only noticed after 2 pints that you can get different measures so you could have a third of a pint enabling you to try lots of different beers. A brilliant idea. Food delicious atmosphere nice and very reasonably priced. Thank you to the Buxton Brewery.

Absolutely loved this bar! So much so that we visited three times over two days sitting both inside and out. Wide and interesting variety of beers and very tasty food. Service was quick and efficient with staff being very knowledagbe on the menu making good recommendations. The atmosphere was very chilled and welcoming and it was clear that customers at other tables were enjoying their experiences here too. I can't get my head around the recent poor reviews... Definitely not describing the tap house that we visited!!

Advice: do not sit outside, because you will be ignored or the order forgotten. We were 4, next to a party of 2 and another of 4. The other parties lost it, and moved next door to the French restaurant to order. What a shame: 3 bar staff can't organise a 5pm pre-prandial drink to enjoy. Oh and the beer - OK, but so it is in most places in fashionable Buxton and they also serve customer service.

Chose to go to the Buxton Brewery Tap House for lunch on a trip to Buxton. No contest really being a big beer fan! Menu was small (reduced due to Covid I expect) but still a decent variety to chose from. Had a beer flight (4 thirds of beer) and really happy with the selection I chose. The whole place was really clean, the atmosphere and music was great, and all the staff were friendly and professional. Will definitely be back!
