Busy Bee in Merthyr Tydfil

Disappointed. Have used Busy Bee 3 times in past and food has been good, but not so this time. Ordered cod and chips, steak and kidney pie and chips and a portion of chips for delivery. Food arrived luke warm and missing the bag of chips - the shop is less than a mile away. Chips that did arrive were soggy. Fish and pie were OK but would have been a lot better if warmer.

I recently visited Cyfartha Castle and googled the best place to eat in Merthyr. I ordered the mince beef and onion pie with chips and the portion size was very good. The staff were really nice and the prices were very reasonable. The food was cooked to order and was piping hot.

I love the fish and chips here. The cafe is very clean, and there is outdoor seating. I would highly recommend this cafe.

Called here on Wednesday, what a great place. Lovely crispy fish and chips, great staff friendly and helpful. Pity we are only here on holiday.

Just had lovely fish and Chips delivered, all 8 of us really enjoyed. Beautiful crispy cod and also lovely chips and curry sauce.

The Busy Bee is always busy close to the bus station always clean staff are friendly food is excellent what more can you say .

We were visiting our son in Merthyr Tydfil, so I searched Tripadvisor and discovered this excellent Fish n Chip shop next to the bus station. I phoned to check it was open, and received clear directions from the owner, because we arrived at the train station. The quality of our three meals, with nice strong cuppas, was superb. The service was friendly and efficient, and we could pay by card. I thoroughly recommmend.

We have always been regular visitors of the busy bee, having not been there for a while we went in for some lunch. When our food came they were like kids meals, I am honestly shocked at how little the portion sizes are now.

Excellent foood, right temperature and prompt service. Why anyone would want to go to a competitor is beyond me. Army, and we love Buys Bee ! Food and staff top motch.

The Busy Bee is the place to be if you love you're fish & chips. .... The service is second to none, & the meals are outstanding, especially the fish and chips!..... The batter on the fish is really crispy and tasty, & the service is both friendly and fast! ..... Well worth a visit as it is situated right next to the local bus station, so is very easy accessible. ,,,,, Always like to call in to the Busy Bee after a busy day shopping to relax with a cuppa & some lovely fish and chips!!

It was nice & clean & staff were quick, generally helpful. Unfortunately this lady asked me if i wanted salt & vinegar but when i said salt only please she neglected to salt my chips? Chips were ok but had better elswhere in Merthyr.

Me and my friend went and dinner here not worth the money portion size terrible my friends fish was rock hard not worth the money.

Patatas fritas recooked había sido más de una vez, era difícil y muy pasty pobre llenado fichas muy grasosa (puede probar la grasa)

Hoy compramos pescado y patatas fritas de la ajetreada Bee y no fue una buena experiencia. El pescado era pequeña y seca el bateador era grande y difícil, las patatas fritas eran scrappy y no una gran cantidad, creo que el pescado y las patatas fritas estaban allí un rato y no debería haber sido vendido, no volvería. En este tipo de negocios sólo se tiene una oportunidad y tienes que hacerlo.

I was visiting Merthyr after leaving nearly 20 years ago as a teenager and was surprised to find the Busy Bee not just still open but barely changed! Aside from Atlantic 252 not playing on the radio behind the counter (obviously!) it was pretty much business as it's always been. Good handmade chips, a basic but strong menu and amazingly still Crusha milkshakes! The prices have rocketed but that isn't the Busy Bee's fault. The portions seemed a lot smaller too but maybe that was childhood memories. Good luck for the next 20 years!

had sit down meal of fish and chips. Thought the batter looked as if fish was ready battered not freshly battered but fish inside was nice and white and tasty no bones chips werent greasy and everything was nice and hot. Staff were very obliging and constantly sweeping up and making sure tables were clean

One of the cleanest places to eat, staff very friendly and the fish and chips are the nicest around. Very expensive but the quality of food is excellent

I had fishcake (best ever) and chips hubby had hake cutlet and chips mushy peas. It was really good best we have had for a long time. not greasy good sensible portion size and good quality. most def be back. staff very helpful and friendly even though it was so busy. I had an ice cream in cone to go as well lovely ice cream.

My wife had been here before for a take away but on this occasion we both went and sat in.Service was fast and friendly and our waitress suggested a hake cutlet which I ordered with chips and mushy peas. It was very good with a nice touch of a wedge of lemon.My wife went for the fishcake which she said was one of the best she'd ever had. Just a fishcake but made really well. With coffee our light lunch came to around £13. Great value. We'll be visiting again.

This restaurant is modern,clean and bright.The staff are smart and efficient.I ordered hake fillet and it was cooked to order,it was one of the best pieces of fish i have ever eaten.If you're in Merthyr visit the Busy Bee,highly recommended!The only slight criticism i would have is,i don't like fixed seating,not very comforatable.

Looking for a meal in the centre of Merthyr last Saturday we give the Busy Bee a go, My wife had the Hake & I tried the home made Corned Beef pie, both meals were very good, the Hake was cooked fresh so had to wait about 15 mins, my tea was served as we ordered so by the the time the meal arrived was stoned cold.Prices a little high for a back street fish & chip shop but food good.

The wife & I have during the last few weeks visited a number of seaside resorts on the south coast of England. Isle of Wight, Exmouth, Sid mouth, Burnham on Sea & a few others, with the expectancy of finding a decent meal of fish & chips. Sadly, NO. Back at Merthyr Tydfil, YES. The Busy Bee, Fish & Chp bar near the bus station. Food, service, quality, waitresses excellent. Well done. 100% for you.

You won't beat the breakfast here, and the fish shop meals are delicious. It is pricey but worth it. I have noticed portion sizes have shrunk over the years.

This little restaraunt, is a real asset in Merthyr Tydfil, as it is conveniently placed near the bus station. It has a varied menu which is very reasonably priced & has good service. Nice place to meet up with friends for a cuppa, a snack, or a full meal

Eat here on a regular basis. Eat in or takeaway is always good. Plenty choice and always well cooked. Recommend for Fish & Chips

Went to have a breakfast, bacon tasted like it was left over from the day before, hash brown was overdone, oil too hot in fryer, toast was too soggy, can't they put toast on separate plate, save it getting covered with baked beans, sausage was a jumbo sausage from chippy not two sausages as stated on menu, food was lukewarm, won't be going back again.

It's ok but reading the reviews I was expecting something much better.My husband had fish and chips and the fish was not as it's supposed to be, the batter was soggy and I must say Wetherspoons does much better fish than this. I had a cup of tea and it was a huge disappointment because it came in a cup with milk already put in, I hate tea with too much milk and any other place gives you milk in a separate jug for you to pour it yourself so I didn't think I needed to ask for separate milk. I could put up with it and ask for separate milk next time but since the fish was a disappointment as well we just will not bother go back there.

Every time my cousin and myself fancy a shop in merthyr we always head for the Busy Bee cafe where you can be sure of decent food whatever you order.The staff are friendly and it,s always packed which says it all.

If you want a decent sit down chippy go no further. Fab fresh fries, good selection of things with them, quick no nonsense service. Can't be beaten.
