Bush Pepper in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

When holidaying in Cornwall the bush pepper should be a top tier priority your list. There are many things to enjoy on the menu but in my opinion you must always try something new. For example their kangaro was such a unusual but delicious dish. It doesn't have that gamey beefy iron taste to it, so you really can season it however you like. The menu said it was Cajun but I felt it lacked that spicy element. The port and red wine reduction was lovely. And the sweet potato wedges really complimented the kangaroo. My wings were fall apart melt in your mouth. However, it said it was BBQ flavour I think it needed a bit more of a smokey depth to it. The sauce felt a little confused. But still delicious. The people who served us were a delight Jasmine and Sian. Two sweet & Stella servers who make all the correct check backs at the appointed time. They had great banter. They really did look after us. Check backs really mean alot to me as a customer and you can always tell if they are genuine. The portion sizes as you can see are spot on. Just an all round amazing time. The owner must be proud.

The food and service was great- such a cosy, warm and friendly atmosphere as well. I had the mushroom linguine and my partner had the kangeroo- they were both so good. You also get a complimentary shot of the owners homemade baileys which was so tasty that we bought a big bottle of it to take home with us😍 Definitely recommend!

Outstanding meal the flavours were absolutely stunning. We ordered the Rib eye & kangaroo. The service was extremely attentive and the homemade baileys simply finished the meal off. We’ll be back next time we visit Newquay Jane & Bobby

Best Surf & Turf I have had in ages. Kangaroo steak was very tasty. Temperatures were on point. We got scallops for appetizers and were so tasty. Everything was really tasty and looked appealing. Staff were very friendly and dessert was the best. Would definitely go there again!

My husband and I out for our anniversary meal. We had a very enjoyable evening with wonderful food and great service. Thank to Sam and jasmine for making us welcome and Paul the owner very nice Special Bailey. Hope to be back soon.

This was our first time visiting Bush Pepper. The service from Jasmine, Sian and Paul was first class, the passion for the restaurant and the food was obvious. From the starter to the pudding where all cooked and presented beautifully and most importantly tasted fantastic. You have to try the homemade Baileys…wow. Best meal we have had in Newquay.

Fantastic meal showcasing different flavour twists that were very enjoyable. In Newquay really stands out from the run of the mill. The owner and waitress Jasmin could not have been more friendly and attentive. As a foodie would recommend.

Food was beautifully presented. Bread starter was delicious, the bread wonderfully fresh. Starters that followed were so tasty - lobster bisque ridiculously rich and calamari just delicious- fresh, vibrant and how it should be. Mains of surf and turf Kangaroo steak and the Seabass were incredible - the Kangaroo serving was huge, almost overwhelming but beautifully cooked, tender and moist very tasty, with the accompanying surf elemnts being delicious. And the seabass was beautifully cooked, couscous gorgeous and so delicious. Too full for desserts! An incredible meal, well worth a visit if in Newquay. Best food so far 😋

Enjoyed our time there very much. We went without a booking but we were able to get a table, though the wait for the food was quite long but the staffs made sure we were aware of it that the dishes are made fresh and were very attentive. Quite simply the atmosphere was lovely, the staff were brilliant (particularly Maisie who served us) and the food was exceptional. I got a sweet birthday balloon and birthday sign for the occasion and the staff were really good about my allergies!

What a shame! I put something down on trip advisor explaining the bad service and they full on lie about what actually happened. This is super unprofessional and the responses they give people on anything less than what they want is terrible. There was a huge argument beside us with a waitress and a family. The husband was getting super worked up and the wife trying to pitch in her thoughts on whatever was going down. Another waitress approached to resolve the situation. The fact that you say this did not happen is disturbing. Grow up and be more professional.

My boyfriend and I were super excited to try this restaurant so we made a booking. We got there late and the one thing we were excited to try was sold out which was the kangaroo fillet. Not the end of the world but still for a restaurant solely based as an Australian restaurant most people would come for that. Then the waitress was having a huge argument with a family beside us that we were forgotten about for a bit. No apologies were made about the argument we had to listen to. When we got our meal my boyfriend spilt his gravy but was not told it was extremely hot before he picked it up which it shouldn’t be since that is what you should be picking up to pour over your food. The lady did not offer another one for us. She then after was so rude when she asked us how the meal was. We just said there was way too much flavour in the chicken dish but the chicken itself was great. She then made a rude remark back. The gentlemen there tonight was lovely and wish we had him the whole night. Not pleased with the overall service and options for food.

We had a very disappointing night at the after waiting two hours for our mains on August 29th. Our table were booked for 7:45. We were seated and had our order taken. After 15 minutes we had our starters that were fine. Nothing amazing about it. We were then ready for the mains that were taken a long time with no explanation other than “everything is fresh cooking from scratch”. Only that this took more than one hour twenty. When finally arrived the ribeye were bland and its texture were more like a sirloin. Tge seafood pasta had too much of an liquid sauce other than thick and creamy. A sad end for a three days waiting for a table to be available for this very popular restaurant. This was the most expensive meal we had in Newquay and far from the best. Not impressed at all.

Been in Newquay for a week on holiday and we have been out for a meal every evening. Bush Pepper was by far the best meal we have had! Freshly cooked gorgeous food with fabulous service. A wonderful evening.

My boyfriend and I came to Bush Pepper for dinner and drinks whilst on a mini break in Newquay and were extremely pleased. Delicious Cornish seafood, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff especially Sam who was particularly attentive (and the owner makes his own Baileys which was amazing!) If you come to Newquay, you have to come to Bush Pepper.

Bush Pepper never fails to please, this is my second time there. I didn’t have a table booked however they still managed to sit me. Despite it being very busy the service was still very good and the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating.

Disappointed with one of the dishes and the staff clearly lied about why they didnt serve what was on the menu and no discount was offered. They served spaghetti instead of linguine and the first waiter said its what they always serve, the next one said they ordered some but hasnt come yet. My partner really dislikes spaghetti but I convinced him to get the dish because linguine was different and thicker... except we were served spaghetti and no one told us they had no linguine left... the other dish of modules mariniere was good! Ok atmosphere, one other staff was great.

I had the pleasure of dining at Bush Pepper restaurant in Newquay and it was truly a lovely experience. Went to Bush Pepper for my girlfriends birthday. We didn’t book a table but staff were very accommodating and got us seated at short notice. Food from start to finish was absolutely top class..Possibly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Lovely selection of mushrooms, great balance of flavours with none overpowering the other. Hubby's seafood was so full of fish, crab etc it was the best he had ever had.
