Busaba Eathai - Westfield Stratford City in Newham

24 hours later and we are still feeling rotten! Myself and my two kids were very disappointed with this food. The calamari starter was inedible and we each had pad Thai that was sugary and nothing like pad Thai as we know it. We couldn’t finish it, just picked at it. £47 down the drain. Do not eat here. Revolting. My son (11) has been vomiting and unwell since an hour after eating there. I am still in bed feeling very unwell. I don’t what they put in the food here but I do t recommend you find out!

Where to start….i guess if you know what good Thai tastes like then sorry but this falls way short. The Tom yum soup has noodles in it for starters (never ever come across that before) and had like a tin of chopped toms dumped in it … ugh…. And zero depth of flavour. The satays were ok, the Thai green curry was fluorescent green and mediocre and the pad Thai dry. The waiters, while trying, struggled to understand what waiting was about… but they tried. Look, this isn’t meant to be a personal attack and I’ve been fortunate enough to eat fantastic Thai in nice places but this was just so far off the races it’s not true. To be constructive, I would encourage the chefs to go and eat at some good Thai places so they know what good looks and tastes like. Really should be a one star but couldn’t bring myself out of pity for the staff.

Be careful with what you order and check that it’s correct as they sell out of products and decide to give you something else without telling you. When questioning this they are rude and confrontational and make it seem like it’s your fault. Avoid if possible.

Visited Saturday afternoon. Dish 1: Chicken Satay, inconsistency in chicken pieces, some pink and very undercooked and others ok. When I pointed out to the waiter, he then got another member of staff to look, who said, that is how chicken thigh looks and walked away.I did not risk eating it and left it on the side of my plate. Plus the satay sauce tasted more smoked than of peanut. Dish 2: Sweet & Sour Ma Muang with battered Chicken pieces in sweet & sour sauce with peppers and cashew nuts. Only 2 small cashew nuts, tasteless soggy battered chicken, raw pepper and no sauce at all. My daughter had a curry that was so salty and a bowl of the smallest chicken wings ever. Waiters wanting to remove plates that were still being eaten from. Other diners Sat on our table complained of cold food. Would not recommend or visit there again. Sad because it was my Birthday treat.

Lovely restaurant with delicious and flavored food. Went there in the late afternoon of Saturday where everywhere else was fully booked thankfully they had room for a table of three. Food portions were a little small but suitable for the three of us. Wasn't a big fan of the Ma Mung Sweet and Sour, however it's the Thai way of it. Really tasty food otherwise and definitely will come again. What we ordered: Calamari Chicken Satay Black Pepper Beef Ma Mung Sweet & Sour Jungle Curry With Jasmine Rice

Lovely atmosphere and great food. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by polite and helpful staff. Our waiter was Andrew and he was so helpful and friendly, he advised us food combinations on the menu and recommendations, he joked with us and made us feel very comfortable. Will come back again and hope it will be soon.

Not really liking Thai but willing to give it ago with some work colleagues. We had a discussion about the meal. I don't like spicy food so settled on the chicken satay and coconut rice. The server after taking our orders came back to me and said he would like me to try Katsu sause on the side to enhance my experience- it was lovely. Such care over his patrons was great.

This spot is great for going out with family and friends if you are craving some amazing Thai food. The service was 10/10 and the food was exquisite.

Anil provided excellent service at the restaurant. He was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He ensured that all our needs were met and made our dining experience enjoyable. Overall, Anil’s service contributed positively to our time at the restaurant.

I felt very happy by visiting busaba tonight with my friends .it was very good food and good recommendations by Anil was amazing I like spring rolls,chicken pad Thai, porkribs, desserts were amazing really I felt very happy to visit Thai restaurants and service was excellent by Anil 💯 and will definitely come back soon.

Shared table concept so you have to share a large table with strangers, uncomfortable if you aren't used to that. The food is mediocre with overcooked meat and unseasoned fish ("special dish") with stir fried vegetable a tinge too salty.

The table was sticky and food was average.

Extremely terrible services and expensive foods. 1. Discriminate. Staff ignored us while we waiting for a table until other groups of customers came in. 2. When we asked for tableware, a waitress directly brought us the tableware of the customer who had just left the table next to us. They transferring tableware directly from one table to another without any cleaning. 3.The quantity is very small but expensive. 4. I asked for the student discount after refused the service charge. But the waitress said we can only choose between the students discount and the service charge. It was like we’re trying to ‘get away’ from the service charge. I refused the service charge is because of your rude service. There is no reason for can’t use the student discount. Won’t back again. The worst Thai restaurant in London.

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. While a couple, who arrived around the same time as us, received their food within 20 minutes, my friend and I waited for 40 minutes without even getting a drink. We reminded the server twice but received no resolution or any food. Unfortunately, this seems to be a recurring issue, as we discovered similar complaints in other reviews. Just wanna say: DON’T COME!

Very very bad experience，We are Asian, we sat down at the same time with another white couple to order, their meal came out in about 20 minutes, we waited for a full 40 minutes, no one served us and cared about us, I first encountered a restaurant that was so difficult to serve, I would like to give you a friendly advice: if you are Asian, don't come to this restaurant

Lovely place right outside the waking area in Stratford- Westfield and the food is amazing! I need to commend the manager Andrew who was most helpful with a deliveroo order, which arrived with a missing item. I will definitely go back over and over again!

3.5 really, food ok, though, probably over-priced for portion size. Fridges broken, so no cold bottled beer or white wine. 🤔

I recently visited the store and had an exceptional experience. The ambiance was inviting. The staff “ANIL” demonstrated top-notch customer service, being attentive without being intrusive.will come again🥰

You can reserve or walk in. They have big tables that can take upto 12 and as a couple seem to generally put you on a corner. This works well, I'd say better, than lots of little tables and a constantly changing layout. Sitting on large comfortable benches is good and bad. You share you seat with strangers, so getting to your seat can disrupt others halfway through their meal and it is cramped for the waiting staff, but if you don't mind random social interaction it's OK. The food is fantastic, full of flavour, but if you have a seafood allergy then you basically become a vegitarian for the night. They said because of cross contamination, but I expect it is excessive use of fish sauce.

Chose this place for a meal after a long walk about the park. Food was great, if on the sweet side. Some of the choices were rather small portions. Highly recommend matchstick chicken small plate. Kids meal is great value.

Food didn't taste authentic at all... What's worse is they skimp out on ingredients... We ordered the Thai green curry and there was a couple of thin slices of chicken... With long strands of beans that could barely fit in your mouth.... The Tom yam goong soup we ordered tasted nothing like the actual thing... The king prawn red curry was good and made up for the other dishes but cud have had a bit more gravy for the rice... The pork riblets were only bone and much less meat..... All in all the portion sizes were too small compared to other similar restaurants.... The ambience was nice and the concept of sharing tables seemed nice to me personally, however the option of a bit more space in between tables would be much appreciated as I had to bump into people eating food while exiting the restaurant.... Mr. Anil who served us did a fantastic job whilst serving other customers and made up for what would have been a disappointing experience had it not been for his great service....

The food is fairly good and tasty, very friendly and helpful staff and service crew apart from our missed order notes and quite dimmed environment. I could have given 5 stars. Anil who served us throughout was so caring and helpful, he attended to all our needs. Not so bright lights, it may be best to have brighter lighting for taking good pictures of food as I celebrated my birthday last night with my family. Thank you to Anil who was there all the way!!

I always love the atmosphere in Busaba. The ambient lighting is perfect. However, I was very disappointed with the service at this branch, as I’ve had no issues with other branches! We had a reservation and it took 10+ minutes to get seated and it wasn’t busy at all. 20+ minutes for someone to take our order, after we hinted so many times! Food took 20 minutes to come and after we finished it genuinely took half an hour for them to give us the check, we had to chase them around for it! Really such a let down. Loved the food, however.

Enjoyable dinner, food authentically sweet and spicy, rapid service There are no starters as such, all dishes are served together. They offer only large tables that seat maybe 12 people which doesn't make for a intimate first-date experience but is fine for casual dining. Reasonably priced £73 for 2 people incl. Service Charge. Fast service before evening entertainment.

Freezing cold in winter. Most people eating with coats on. Expensive for an uncomfortable restaurant with mediocre/tasteless food. Not sure I’ve had a green curry that tasted of so little before. Wouldn’t recommend.

The place was not very warm in winter day. The staff was somehow confused. The food was not as expected. Very small portion that were charged 15-20£ pp. The beef meal was not chewable! Not sure that we'll be back again.

Probably the worst experiences in a while. Ordered the famous calamari peppercorn with coconut rice. The drink was their Busaba Blend. When the tea arrived the pots lip was cracked and brown inside. The actual tea was nothing other than TEAPIG teabag in water. What a con. £3.40 to make you buy something the menue makes you belief is something different. The food came. Rice wasn't even rice anymore. It was mush. So overcooked it wasn't edible. I asked the manager how they can call the tea "BUSABA BLEND" if its a tea one can buy for £4.75 for 15 bags in most shops. She replied with the biggest lie. Her words were "TEAPIG SUPPLIES BUSABA WITH THIS PARTICULAR TEA BLEND THEY MAKE SPECIFICALLY JUST FOR BUSABA". 😱😱😱😱😱😱🤬 I told her to stop making things up as it's nothing else than a shop bought tea. She actually tried to continue to convince me. Terrible. Maybe there is dumb people out there that would believe this nonsense. We will not return.... Insulting con drinks, terrible food and untrustworthy staff. No wonder.

I chose this place to celebrate my husband's birthday as I'm a big fan of Thai cuisine. While the food may not be entirely authentic, it's undeniably delicious. The staff is friendly, and it's advisable to make reservations since the restaurant can get quite busy. Its convenient location adds to the overall appeal.

This is definitely not the Thai food taste as I ordered beef red curry which is too much salty and the gravy looks awful and the manager was arguing about it and he tried the gravy in front of me and agreed it’s too salty but didn’t offer me any compensation or anything. They didn’t put any cutlery on our table that we need to collect it from other table for our kids while they provided the food without cutlery’s! Food are unnecessary sweet and salty and not the Thai taste at all I feel they don’t have any Thai food sense at all and the customer service is rude! Please avoid this place! Not recommended at all!

They served the food freezing cold, so they said they would get another dish, but they just microwaved it which ruined the taste of the meal. I refuse to pay the service charge. I won’t be returning. I’ve attend Several other outlets quite a few times and it’s always been really nice so I was quite disappointed with this.

This I was my second time here and it was again fantastic food. Anil was our waiter and was so helpful in our choice of food- we shared a few small plates and loved them all. I will definitely be back anytime I am in this area

We ordered the calamari, a pad Thai and the kao red pork. The first two were good, whereas the latter was very disappointing: the pork was burnt (not chargrilled, I mean burnt) and cut parallel to the fibers, making eating the dish unpleasant. The rice was quite undercooked that I would feel crunchy when eating. The water jug was dirty, with things floating in it. The waiter was kind not to charge us for the kao red pork, but I do not wish to return to busaba Westfield again. The food at Busaba has always been good. I have eaten the same dishes at Busaba Soho, Bond Street, Goodge Street and Hoxton, and can say Busaba Westfield has the lowest quality of food I ever experienced at the Busaba restaurants.

Delicious Food, Attentive Staff and Great Atmosphere Absolute amazing restaurant! Not only was the food delicious, the moment we closed our menu a waitress was already at our table. Food delivery was fast and altogether the wait time was minimal. Could not recommend more! Also, try the calamari!

The most basic is a Thai green curry. The curry was watery and not flavorful. Was expecting a thick, coconut based pack of flavor but this place is a mood spoiler.

Service was not good with a rushed approach waiting staff kept leaning over tables opposite as they were too lazy to do it properly and too lazy to listen to customers requirements advising in correctly of content of dishes. Poor atmosphere . Main course was delivered very shortly after starter which meant it was sat there getting cold.. Menu had no content waiting staff very very poor customer service skill. Overpriced drinks. Toilets filthy dirty and resembled a store room. Would not recommend this place at all just ,AWFUL

This is the second time I have been here this week and I left happy on the first day and even happier on the second. Food was great, service was fantastic. The manager Andrew was very friendly. I highly recommended. I write this as I roll out of the restaurant holding my stomach feeling very satisfied.

Place looks great. I came for lunch and orderd a Katsu Curry. They give the smallest amount of curry I ever saw in a dish (attached acreenshot. Really shameful). I asked for extra sauce right away and was told its on its way. Never got it. Edit: Looking at some other reviews now and I see that for a while people complain here about tiny amounts of rice, noodles in a soup, and basicly whenever there is a chance this restaurant is actually saving on small stuff like sauce instead of investing a little more for a better customer experience. Food here isnt cheap, so shame that the kitchen is. Really, a crispy chicken in Mcdonalds has more sauce then the "Curry" I got.

The place to go for salt and pepper squid.

Food was very tasty and portions were adequate. We had lamb shank, chilli prawn rice and some prawns curry and they were all exquisite. The only downside was the seating. They have these square tables and very close to each other. So your back is almost touching someone else’s back. Maybe for two people is ok but for a larger group you won’t be able to have a decent conversation as it gets too loud. I felt congested and suffocated :/

Excellent vibes. Great to hangout with friends/colleagues. Conviniently located at Westfield. Can get busy during peak times, so a reservation is recommended. The staff is helpful and make good recommendations based on your preferences. The variety and taste of food is good but not 100% authentic, however is satisfactory considering the location

I waited 45 minutes for my food for it to not come. the people that came after me had their food before mine. i asked someone about how long the food would take and she told me the server didn’t even give the kitchen our order. And she wasn’t even apologetic when she told me that. Ridiculous service :(

This spot is nice for scenery. However salmon arrived undercooked. Pak choi was also undercooked and rice was very dry. For a £20 dish this was underwhelming. Partners dish was same only salmon appeared burnt on outside and undercooked on the inside. Complaint was made but not properly acknowledged. In the end we stayed and had a laugh between us. But in terms of customer service it was very bad. Plates were taken without a word and no desert was even offered. Not a good experience food and service wise.

Anil was very kind and helpful. I went with my toddler daughter and he managed to include her in the experience aswell. The food was great and the ambience too.

Staff fully aware that the lock was faulty as I managed to bang loud enough for a member of the public to finally hear me. The door is floor-to-ceiling solid, hardwood! Management came running to rescue me with a dinner knife. Management fully aware of the faulty lock however they put no signs in place and continued to allow customers to use it. It was a very scary, panicking situation for me that left me shaking. The door is solid and the toilet a very confined space. I did not sleep well last night at all! This needs to be resolved. I WILL be escalating this further. The last time I was in the restaurant I was heavily pregnant! Had I been locked in then it would have been worse. Vulnerable people eating in Busaba and could have experienced being trapped! If I had been the last customer, I may have been locked in overnight.

The rice grains are distinct, the beef cubes are very fresh, and the fried egg is good too, but the portion of rice is a bit small.
