We had a family dinner here while visiting friends and it was a lovely experience. They can only sit about 30 people but the menu is very full and diverse with lots of tonight's specials. I had the lamb stew and it was rich and hearty with very tender meat. They serve family style with large bowls of fresh cooked veggies.

While the set three course menu looked good, we felt two courses were plenty on a warm evening, and besides, the predominantly fishy list of specials was enticing.

Keats Cottage

31/10/2018: Our friends booked a table here and to be honest on first glance was unsure. At 7.30pm the place was empty. The owner greeted our friends, who are regulars. His pride of the restaurant shows , with justification.
30/06/2018: This is different. Shanklin has a lot to offer. But don’t miss this one. It has history and an atmosphere.

Pendletons

31/10/2018: Our friends took us here for a meal. It’s in a line of restaurants and you wonder” why this one?” Well as locals they clearly know the best places to eat, and this is one of them. It’s on the main road and the exterior is like a shop front. But never judge a book, or restaurant, by its cover. We had Mullett. Not widely used in restaurants but the owner explained he was at the fish market that morning and purchased some. So glad he did. All 4 of us had it..no one left any.
14/07/2018: The food in this restaurant is beautifully cooked and presented. The chef has a really light touch with flavours and we were a bit worried about the chicken with a cab sav sauce. It worked very well and the sauce was just right and enhanced the chicken rather than overpowering it. The pork was equally tasty. My only (very slight) reservation is that it is quite a small menu, but if everything is this good, who cares.
