The best poached eggs I have ever had!!

Found this little gem by chance tucked away opposite the museum gardens. The service and food were top-notch. We had the quiche and deli salad - both were delicious and the deli salad was a brilliant alternative to your average bland cafe salad. I would highly recommend Mannetti's for a lovely lunch or just a quick coffee.

The best brunch food in York centre. The quality of the ingredients is shown and the flavours are great. Really well presented. Yorkshire CTC tea perfect accompaniment with brunch and Darkwoods coffee for the coffee seekers. The baking is out of this world and the take away salad box is packed full of nutritious and delicious ingredients. A credit to York, and I can’t recommend highly enough. Thank you guys! What a little gem this is. We we're wandering around early looking for a nibble and a drink and saw Mannetti's. It looks really inviting from outside but it's lovely on the inside too. Quite small so timing is important - it gets busy and only a small number of tables. The food was so good we went back the following day and had something different which was equally tasty. Service was also fantastic. Highly recommended. Also a good supply of chutneys, oils and delicious looking chocolates to take away.

Arrived for a late Sunday lunch, it was meant to be a coffee break but we liked the look of the sharing deli platter on the menu. The platter was duly ordered and when presented it was obvious why they state “enough for two” being both generous in portion size and variety of meats and cheeses. We had mature cheddar, blue Stilton and white Stilton (possibly Wensleydale) with apricot. The meats were ham, pastrami and turkey all generous in portion sizes. It was served with mixed olives, sun dried tomatoes, balsamic pickled onions, garlic and pimentos with a pea shoot garnish. Thick, soft and crusty bread with loads of butter to accompany the platter was served and it was all delicious. The staff were pleasant and courteous and very helpful when questioned about the menu items. Recommended.

Great service, delicious food, spotlessly clean

We had a coffee outside to take in the fabulous views. Amazing coffee, and the food ordered by the couple on the next table looked delicious.

Popped in for a scotch egg and salad, both were great but the salad was amazing! Lovely coffee too. Definitely recommend.

Delicious coffee, gluten free toastie which was possibly the best I've had, filled generously and tasty. A must visit, spend your money on this lovely independent business rather than a chain, the quality is far better.

We popped in for a coffee on new years eve while visiting my partner's family and I'm so glad we did. The staff were so friendly and warm, the drinks were tasty and fresh (the orange juice was served in a chilled glass which was so unusual and such a welcome little touch.) we also sampled the vegetarian scotch egg which was really lovely! Their little deli is also a great idea. So much local produce on offer! I left with two jars of their own jam and we are already almost done with the Christmassy one... It's so delicious! I almost don't want to review this so that it doesn't get overrun by tourists like so many other lovely local cafes in the city (there's nothing worse than your fave spot being inaccessible) .. But it's just so good that they deserve the kudos!

A proper lovely place with amazing food. Had a great home baked pork pie with chutney and salad with my wife. Highly recommend this place for lunch.

The place is OK.....certainly not cheap for what I had.....£9 for a bacon sandwich....the bread was lovely unfortunately the bacon(main ingredient) was virtually tasteless...coffee was 3.80 so quite expensive even for central york

RUN, dont walk to this beautiful and wonderfully managed cafe. It's independent so that makes it more valuable. Well done to all for making our visit so wonderful. The food was delicious and well priced.

Fantastic brunch yesterday, lovely staff +great food

Two of us walked in with my daughter in her buggy and asked the waitress for a table. She took one look at as us and said sorry we can’t seat you with that. If you were any good at customer service, all you’d have had to do is move a small table to accommodate the buggy. Clearly didn’t need the custom. Avoid if you have a young child in a buggy/pram as they won’t accommodate you. So rude!

A lovely independent coffee shop / cafe. There's quite a cosy and peaceful atmosphere, which I really enjoyed after the bustle of York's streets. The tea and cake was delicious. Worth a visit.

The hot chocolate here is great, they use actual chocolate for it, rather than the powdered stuff, highly recommend the banana bread too, the house specialty!

Lovely service and location, dark mocha while people watching.

Had Rustic Mushroom Soup. Very bland. Just button mushrooms floating in a very thin broth. Ate the bread but left most of the soup. Complained but was still charged £8.50. Very expensive bread. Wouldn’t recommend. Needless to say I won’t be returning.

Delicious food, we had the Ryedale Tyke and a bacon sandwich. The drinks were also excellent, and the barista was friendly and welcoming.

In a city full of expensive and soulless chain cafes and restaurants this shines as bright as a jewel. We had a bacon on sourdough sandwich, which had proper bacon in it, and an eggs Benedict with runny egg. Perfect. Friendly service from a young lady and she forgave me for walking out (not far I may add) without paying.

This is a really nice cafe. Loved the platter of hams and cheese. Perhaps a little bit too expensive though...

Fabulous cafe in the heart of York! Lovely seating area outside too. The coffee is delicious, and the food superb! The staff are so pleasant and accommodating too! Highly recommended this classy Cafe to anyone visiting York!

Nice food but a complete rip-off. Sausage roll £3.95 takeaway, £7.95 eat-in. Eat-in came with a few rocket leaves. Yeah go figure.

What a find!! Went for lunch with my daughter, happy to let dogs in. Ample portions, great choice and delicious. Lovely coffee and fabulous service. Highly recommend.

Small independent coffee shop (& take away) with just 4 tables. Hubbie had a double espresso. I had a latte with oat milk, which came in a smaller than average latte cup despite the price. Coffee was OK, not strong. Toilets are upstairs. Interesting selection of dressings, sauces, pickles to purchase. My reply to Manetti's (below) : Thank you for your reply. I didn't order a flat white, I ordered an oat latte. I never drink flat whites so I would never order one. If this is what you gave me then the nice young chap who took our order made a mistake, but still charged us for an oat latte. We normally go to Cafe Nero where they give 2 shots of coffee. You can taste their coffee in their oat lattes. However, we thought we'd try Manetti's as we try to support local independents. To reiterate, there was nothing wrong with our whole experience at Manetti's, we both didn't feel the coffee was that strong to our taste. We wish you good luck with your independent business.

We came here for brunch and were very satisfied! The portions are of a good size and quality, making this place very good value for money. The staff are very polite and friendly, which helps create a welcoming atmosphere.

Had lunch here yesterday. Sandwich, toastie and cake. Was quality, fresh and very tasty. Not the cheapest, but worth every penny.

We had a delicious lunch at Mannetti's. I highly recommend the focaccia sandwiches and the coffee is nice too. I've previously had the cakes (which are excellent), but I was too full to try them this time!

Great place for breakfast, their hash is amazing, the eggs royale are superb and wonderful coffee.

Small and intimate, so expect a bit of a wait at busy periods. Great service and great food however. Definitely worth a visit of you like supporting independent businesses

Sitting here having a "Banana Bread" and Latte. The Banana Bread is served with Yogurt and compote...it is delicious...the nicest banana bread I have ever eaten. ABSOLUTELY must try.

Incredibly good coffeeshop. Went there during a winter storm and was instantly greeted by a smile, and followed by a great coffee and really good food. Fully recommended. Seems to be a very much beloved coffeeshop in York. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in the area!

Worst service, I have never felt more ignored in a cafe and people were being served before us even though we had previously been waiting. Word of warning, never go here!

Price for the good was great considering that York is very touristy. The taste was even better. The staff are very friendly, the food is well presented and the coffee is also good. Definitely a great place for a bite to eat before going for a walk in the museum gardens.

Very good brunch, came back twice in two days!!

Burr is without a doubt among the best cafes York has to offer. They use loads of fresh, good quality ingredients, their portion sizes are generous (their prices aren't the cheapest, but you do at least get a decent serving for the money), and their service is generally pretty speedy. They also have a good number of veggie options (their vegetarian scotch egg is so good I had to check they hadn't given me the meat one by mistake) and do one of the best mushroom dishes (MASSIVE mushrooms on sour dough with halloumi and pine nuts) I've ever had. Their cakes and sweet treats are also well worth the cash if you still have room. My only 'complaints' would be that the back of the cafe can be a bit dark sometimes, so it's not quite as cosy or charming as some of the other cafes in town. Also, because the kitchen is only partly separated from the dining area towards the back, it sometimes gets a bit humid in there. Still, this is all just nitpicking, and shouldn't put you off giving this great little place a try.

Inexpensive and yet still good quality coffee. Nice place to sit and friendly staff. Will go there again.

Excellent coffee, cakes and hot food. Really recommend the pancakes which are some of the best in York.

Visited today for a coffee and a slice of cake. I always prefer independent coffee shops and this place lives up to that, friendly staff, great tasting coffee (if not the best I’ve tasted for a while) and good value. The Victoria Cake was tasty too!

Good food & service. Seating a bit squashed up.

Avocado toast with tomatoes and feta brunch was very good! Great coffee and cakes too

Not brilliant, tables too small and close together which made it noisy and difficult to talk. Cheese toastie was all bread and not worth the money. Won't be going back.

Great cafe, good quality food, lovely staff

Ok. I tried the ham n chorizo hash. It was brilliant. I could not believe that it would be so tasty. We also had coffee , and everyone was happy. The cakes were amazing. Definitely recommend it. Good job guys n girls.

Only had a flat white coffee. It was strong and hot the way I like it. Other people's food looked good and staff were friendly. Nice and cosy place. I'd visit again to try the food.
