Again, the item's price increased 10 pence within 14 days. Great ! I am not sure why the increase is not made more deliberate and leave the increase for a while. This affects the taste too,

After reading all the good reviews, we had to give this place a try. I got a sausage roll and my wife got a bean roll. I know this is a small sample size, but neither of these rolls was anything to write home about. My sausage roll was taste less, kind of like some you would get at the gas station and the bean roll was not much better.

Some people have a 'thing' about wine, others about cheese, others about bread. I'm in the third group. A few years ago, I bought a loaf from Burns the Bread in the High Street in Glastonbury. It was, to say the least, beyond perfect. I was there, again, this Monday, so I treated myself to an 800g granary tin that cost £2.80 (yes, that's right; I had HIGH expectations for that price, as I could purchase the same at Asda for £1.30). To say I was almost in tears when I came to eat is it an understatement. The 'crust' was wrinkly soft and the entirety too firm, tell-tale signs of an old or stale loaf. Having cut off ALL 6 crusts, I came to something that would be deemed barely passable after two days given a bog-standard loaf. This 'Burns' loaf had NOT, I repeat NOT, been baked the same day and was being sold from the previous day's leftovers. I can tell, I just can, because I have to have real, fresh bread. The only positive is that I took a closer look at the Special Bread section in Asda today. I bought a 400g fancy kalamata olive loaf (£1.95). It was gorgeous and HAD been baked there that day. Needless to say, I'll be going through the rest of that Special Bread section. Burns the Bread in Glastonbury is now a farce. AVOID at all costs.

With two outlets in the centre of town, as well as several others in the local area, it is good to see Burns now expanding their range of delicious offerings, with a vegan sausage roll and a spicy sweet potato pasty in particular being the savoury highlights. They are cooked fresh every day, so you know the products are at there best. It is not always evident exactly which products are vegan (although the aforementioned are labelled as so), so it is always worth asking the staff or requesting to look at their allergen book which lists the ingredients for every product they sell.

The Village Cafelocation-icon12 Farm RoadBritish

Myself and my dear nan after a long walk around the local village decided that we felt peckish and needed a bite to eat. We came across this establishment and decided to give it a go. When entering the cafe it appeared crammed and had a lack of seating downstairs. There was no signage to say that extra seating was upstairs. However I don’t feel I would trust the stairs as they made quite the ruckus as people walked down them. My dear nan and I browsed over their menu. Must say not the largest I’ve seen so did not take us long to decide our meal. To our shock you had to pay by card before your meal? I fear this may be due to people running out after eating theirs and I find this rather strange? My dear nan had a roast of the day. Well if you can call it that. She may as well been served Brussel sprouts in gravy as there was a serious overpopulation of these on the plate and a lack of everything else. The dinner it self looked like a microwave meal. I decided that I would sample the bacon, egg and chips. The chips appeared luke warm. The bacon over cooked and hard and the egg was disappointing. It would never win a marathon due to it being a non runner. Once finished our meal we decided to leave the establishment. This took a lot of effort trying to weave through the chairs and people sitting at them eating their meals. It is safe to say myself and my dear Nan would not be returning to this establishment.

Cranmore Tower Tea Roomlocation-iconCranmore RoadBritish

My mate and I did the East Mendip Way, walking from Frome to Wells on Sunday. We knew we would pass Cranmore Tower, but did not know that it was open to the public or that there was a tearoom. Roughly the midway point, so having arrived at approx 2:00pm, it was the right time to stop for a tea and a slice of cake - a big slice of cake - very nice indeed. The owner is very friendly, and carried out the renovations since purchasing the tower in the early 90's. Well worth a visit, and you can see for miles from the top of the tower.
