This people are amazing , me and my fiance drive from 2 towns over just to get to taste a bit of home . Amazing customer service from everyone in the store ,always happy to assist and help and even being flexible with you as well . This place deserve 5 stars and more .

Amazing in all aspects, just a bit pricey - especially for Italian standards. But the offer is great and the staff are friendly, too.

Not really a restaurant just a bloody good deli. Lovely, helpful staff and gorgeous food. If you're looking for proper Italian ingredients and food to die for, you're in luck!

I discovered this place last week but I wish I did years ago. I've been getting breakfast/ lunch from this place for almost every day over the last week. You can find freshly made sandwiches, cold cuts, baked items, fruits, coffee, cake, cheese, drinks, salads, olives and pickled items, pasta,etc. 10/10 shop. The only downside is the parking, 3 spots are available outside but it can get busy.

Went to Buongiorno Italia today to pick up some everyday food like pesto, lemon marmalade, chinotto, pistachio creme, and some lovely fresh bread + cheeses, plus some Christmas goodies - Panbriacone, Panpepato, lovely Italian biscuits, and a Pear & Sultana Panettone. Had a delicious ciabatta and coffee breakfast on the terrace outside, and we've just had BI's amazing home-made Lasagne for dinner with a dressed herb salad and a bottle of Rosapasso Biscardo that was in our wine rack. Oh my GOD that Lasagne was amazing!! Best we've ever tasted by far. Still got their home-made Tiramisu to look forward to in a minute for dessert. Absolutely love this place, no matter how busy they are (and they get VERY busy, another good sign) service is always with a smile, and a cheeky comment or two from Tony 😉 Thanks Tony and all at Buongiorno Italia ❤️

An excellent real Italian deli.

A must-visit Italian deli if you are in St Albans or look for gourmet Italian ingredients to make of a meal an unforgettable experience. You can also buy or enjoy on site delicious sandwiches, desserts or pastries and tasty coffeee. Do not miss it. It's really good value, a quiet location, some tables to eat al fresco and an excellent variety of products to do your groceries on a daily basis. The staff is super friendly and the shop is spotlessly clean.

I had intended to visit here for years as I’d heard that it sold authentic Italian produce, but finally dropped by to buy frozen pizza dough-balls. At 1pm on a Friday afternoon this little shop was incredibly busy, with customers queuing for sandwiches to be made-up from the deli counter, and others eating outside. I was very happy to wait, giving me time to take in the huge array of goods they have. My dough-balls were only £3.95 for a bag of four, each enough for a 10 inch pizza base, so great value. I also picked up some biscotti and other treats while I was waiting. Despite being so busy, the staff were all really friendly and welcoming. The meats, cheeses, olives, arancini etc all looked amazing, and the range of goods on the shelves is impressive. Definitely the best Italian deli in the area; I could spend a lot of money here! I’ve been back already, within a few days of my first visit, hence the mid-afternoon pictures when it was quieter.

Visited this place after a recommendation to buy ingredients to make homemade pizza in my new pizza oven. The gentleman serving me was extremely helpful and shared loads of useful tips! The ingredients were all delicious but the frozen pizza dough and mozzarella were especially delicious. Highly recommend.

Lasagne is one of the best I've ever had. Coffee is great, service is polite, Friendly, definitely worth a try

Cannot fault Tony and his team, food was excellent and really enjoyed visit. Tony went out of his way to create a fantastic Aubergine Panini for my wife and son, I had the Tuna Special which was delicious. I also recommend the Cannoli Siciliani which were not on display but are kept in fridge. Thank You Tony you will without a doubt be seeing us again.

Today in the UK 26C, so it has to be salad tonight. Drove to my favourite Italian delicatessen in St Albans. Produce, whether vegetables, meats, pastries always wide ranging and fresh. Stocked up on: Mortadella, Ventracina salami, garlic stuffed olives, seafood salad and not forgetting the canolis. Sat outside with a cappuccino and fresh torta della. Superb friendly establishment.

The Arancine used to be top, however, they're not anymore. I did not buy any Arancine in Buongiorno Italia for a while, and today I have got 6 but unfortunately, they were a huge disappointment. Basically, they were balls of rice with 5% ragù (meat). I understand that the cost of production is rising due to inflation, but scamming clients with such a poor product is basically an insult to Italian culture. You just lost a client.

Amazing place. Charcuterie meat amazing, and superb cheeses amongst lots of other interesting food products.

Just popped in for some of the best Italian sausages that taste amazing! Treated myself to a freshly made Ciabatta Italiano of course - absolutely delicious! Staff are always friendly & happily carried my bag to my car - it’s a busy little shop where everything looks so tasty that you always spend more than intended - regular customer 😀

Went in for the first time after hearing good reviews. Great selection of food in there - I got a range of foods from the deli counter and the shelves which were all high quality and tasty. However, the experience wasn’t enjoyable. The man (presumably owner) wasn’t particularly welcoming and he started shouting at his young worker right in front of everyone. It just made me feel sorry for the poor kid and I wanted to be out the shop as soon as possible. There’s no excuse for acting like that in front of customers. Friendly, welcoming service goes a long way with me, and unfortunately my only experience with this place has put me off. Lovely prosciutto, but bad customer service doesn’t make up for that.

Popped in this morning to buy some Crodini and Pear juices. Decided to try a couple of cannoli and sfogliette ( sweet pastries). The filling inside both was hard - I can only deduce that these were a few days old. Very disappointing as the shop is a little treasure trove of Italian bounty.

Was shouted at for not wearing a mask. I am medically exempt, was told to wait outside like a second class citizen. Perhaps it was the colour of my skin they didn’t really like

Everything is good about this place. The food is fantastic from delicious hams, and cheeses to the Italian wines, oils and balsamic vinegar.

What a fantastic deli, delicious take away sandwiches, the deli has a great selection of cheeses, salami, pasta etc etc, we visited every day while on holiday we stocked up before leaving I would highly recommend. Service was excellent and the staff were helpful and friendly

As an Italian person who has been living abroad in few different countries since few different years, I found this place simply amazing. It has everything you can dream of, from biscuits to cheese (I found stracchino there). The food they prepare is also absolutely amazing. I think Arancini with spinach is the best thing ever.

You promised me a show stopping cheese with wonderful Salami & that is exactly what I got. 2 weeks after the party and people are still talking about them with plenty of enquiry's about the unusual cheese biscuits. I purchased The Flag ciabatta which was incredible. Fast service and the bread was still warm when I reached my lunch spot which was very gratifying! I would only marked it down because the wrap that it came in was covered in pesto oil which made for a messy clean up

We had a great welcome, sat outside and ordered vegetarian lasagna and tuna ciabatta for our granddaughter. Best veggie lasagna we’ve had ever and a really delicious interesting salad with olives, sundries tomatoes, balsamic onions and artichokes included. Afterwards we bought a few authentic Italian groceries. Fantastic range of different pastas on display. We decided to take some spinach arancini balls home with us and these were spectacular. Best I’ve ever tasted. We can’t wait to go back again with our daughter!

Wow, what a find!!! Being using another deli for a number of years now but just that little bit further away, so finding Buongiorno Italia in St. Albans is a real result! A real authentic deli situated just a stones throw from the city centre, Italy has the perfect location in Lattimore Road. On entering, the authentic Italian Coffee aroma hits you and then you are looking at everything that Italy has to offer all under one roof! Whilst shopping for Italian Sausages, Mortadella, Pasta and Italian Tomatoes of course we came out with much more including freshly made ciabatta's (omg) unbelievable! So, all I can say it we have found you and we will be back GRAZIE

I came here to purchase some Italian cheese, meat and wine from the deli for a dinner party. Tony the owner of the deli was very helpful and advised on what products woudld work well. He was also very friendly with lots of banter. The quality of the products was excellent, drawing many positive comments from my guest. I shall definitely be return to try more of the stock.

This is a gorgeous deli with small amount of seating and lunch menu.

We went for lunch and sat on the terrace. It's always busy which is a good sign. I had a tuna salad (best fresh salad in St Albans)and Hilary a chicken ciabatta. Finished off with perfect coffee. Lovely staff and always friendly with a bit of banter thrown in for free!

Went here for a coffee to try somewhere new in St Albans and was disappointed. Ordered a flat white and was basically given a cup full of warm milk, weakest coffee I’ve had in a long time so very disappointed

This is a lovely deli and coffee bar packed with Italian goodies. The proprietor is friendly and happy to give advice on products. A place I would frequent if I lived in St Albans but alas I can only visit a few times a year.

I love it when you just come across a place by accident and it's really good. Walking back to station and saw all the veg outside. Decided to look further and found it was a great Italian deli. Staff very pleasant, coffee superb and a great selection of meats cheese and deserts. Only wished I lived near here as this would be high on my food suppliers.

Buongiono is the best kept secret in St Albans. The sandwiches are absolutley heaven, if you like your Italian food of course. The deli caters for most of everyone's needs from cheese, cold meats, olives to bread. Also a huge array of other Italian delights, including cakes. Try to get their early to avoid lunch queues for the sandwiches!! Italians do it better!

I go here purely for coffee as its on of the best in St.Albans.

I should not be telling you about this place so that it does not become more popular than it is. Whether you want authentic Italian produce or just a dam fine cup of coffee ( or other refreshments) and a bite to eat this place is brilliant The paninis are especially something to savour and at a very reasonable price. Having said this it would be worth frequenting a local, unique store to support the business. It will become ever so more popular when the new development of flats and apartments is completed on the London Road. Up and coming area.

Visited here for lunch with friends and the food was excellent. Would be nice if they could have a larger indoor seating area for colder days but we were able to get a seat and had a delicious lunch. Will be returning.

Tony took on the deli when his parents retired and sited it where it now is, and taken it to another level still.We lived next door, when we first moved to St. Albans...29 years ago, and it has been part of our life ever since. it is still the best Italian deli I have come across.Fantastic produce, hard to find products (the Bonta Panbriacone Christmas Panetone being one example), great atmosphere & service make this place a must.You won't be disappointed.

A no-nonsense Italian store that does interesting lunches and great coffee. They seem to have evolved from just being a store to something more. You should try when in the area.

I first visited here several months ago. Have been back on a regular basis ever since. Everything always looks and tastes amazing. With Christmas just around the corner they have filled the shop with some wonderful foods and gifts. Forget your Lidl's. This place is well worth a visit.

I've been a regular customer for a number of years, and I love the wide range of products and the sensible prices. It was originally founded to serve our local Italian community and was a no nonsense local shop that invariably had a queue out of the door. It has diversified and smartened up under the management of the founders son, but hasn't lost sight of all the things that made it great. It still serves the Italian community and it's a great place to buy staples such as pasta as well as the more exotic deli items.The coffees and lunches follow the same high standards, I only wish it was possible for there to be more sitting space.

Popped in for lunch with a friend yesterday and we shared a delicious deli board. Having visited Italy several times this tasted very much like the real deal with cheese, ham, olives and fresh bread. We then treated ourselves to some sweet treats with our coffee and were not disappointed! Also picked up some groceries whilst I was here- this is somewhere you shouldn't go to hungry else you buy everything! And the pistachio ice cream is to die for! Very reasonable prices and friendly staff!

Despite having lived in St Albans for over 30 years, I went to this deli for the first time this week. I wish I'd visited it before. I love the way the staff leave you to look round without being pestered at all but are happy to answer any questions or help you choose if you need help. The range of food is amazing and I shall definitely be visiting again soon. There are some little tables where you can have a bite to eat and drink some lovely wine too! Their deli boards look delicious and if I hadn't just eaten I would have had one. I can highly recommend the Terranto Amaretto they sell in there - a superb liqueur, and the Provolone Piccante cheese. We haven't tried the rest of the items we bought yet but I'm sure they'll be just as good!

Being a deli the produce available in the small restaurant/bar is always superb. Amazing variety with unusual cheeses, meats, olives and vegetable dishes. A real treat - outside tables are rare in St Albans and busy in good weather. Very fortunate to have Tony and his marvellous team here!

The best place in town to get Genuine Italian food. It has it all from Pasta's through the meats, olives, cheeses and many more on the cold counter. Great choice in wines and canned produce also. Its a full on Italian deli in the truest terms. You can also enjoy the food there or a just coffee and a cake. Indoor and out door seating makes it viable all year round. We often have a deli board to share, a bottle of wine and watch the world go by. Its like being on holiday for an hour on a Saturday afternoon.

Having recently moved to a new building site in St Albans ,we searched for a new artisan food outletafter a couple of days we found this place,wowthe toasted ciabbatta with prosciutto,mozzarella and tomatos take me back to a special placeas said elsewhere its not big or a proper restaurant, but what it does do is perfect.friendly helpful staff,its all ticks from me

Great little place with a cheeky chappy who makes you feel very welcome.I usually have the vegetarian board for one. Bread, different cheeses, olives, salad, aubergine, onions. A small but perfectly formed delicatessen/café serving authentic Italian food and freshly sourced fruit and vegetables. My wife and I regularly meet our friends there for coffee, wine and brunch on a Saturday. We always get a warm welcome and the place is always busy. Buongiorno's deli boards are second to none. For a taste of Italy in the heart of St Albans we cannot recommend this highly enough.

A taste of Italy in the middle of St Albans. With a long tradition of serving great food this bistro is a regular for me and my team at lunch time. A real jewel hidden away from the beaten track. Definitely worth heading here if you are hungry and nearby.

On business with a couple of hours to spare so walked from the station to Lattimore Road in no time at all. If you're after a light lunch or coffee then first browse the amazing deli counter with its fantastic display of all things Italian.The ciabatta here is simply sensational with an assortment of delightful fillings. I finished my meal with two juicy peaches accompanied by a sparkling lemonade and mint presse. Heaven!

OK, so its just a deli (a very good deli!) with some tables outside, however if you want a great, fresh, tasty, excellently priced lunch served by friendly, cheerful staff then there is no better place in St Albans. I saw reviews on this and they do not exaggerate, it is an excellent Italian deli. Its not silver service, you queue in the deli to order your food along with people buying copious amounts of olives, cheeses etc. but the food is well presented and gloriously fresh and tasty. Our first visit but we will be back on regular occasions, I just wish we lived 8 minutes away not 8 miles!

Tony and his team are delightful hosts at this independent deli on the edge of the main shopping centre. The shop is enticingly full of Italian foods and fresh produce. Our family favourites include the roasted red peppers, olives pomodoro and basil pesto in a jar. The range of cheeses is good and the dolcelatte is always creamy and tangy. First class service is always delivered with knowledge and a smile. Fine Italian coffee is available to take away or drink on the premises, as are freshly-made filled ciabattas, cakes, pastries and ice-cream.

Really friendly local service every time I go! The food is incredible - both what they make and what they have in the shop. The shop has the kind of amazing authentic food that you can't get in any other shops so if you want to treat yourself I can thoroughly recommend. It's actually not that expensive to be honest - I'm not quite sure how they keep their prices so low!From the counter it is more of the same plus the bonus of combining these great foods to make sandwiches etc, which are incredible. Hubby and I have been visiting BI since we moved locally (2 years ago now) and I realised today how much I take it for granted. Buongiorno Italia has the most amazing deli serving all types of fresh meats and cheese, pasta, wine, cake, pastries and the list goes on and of course, all Italian.Not only that but they serve the most amazing deli lunches, that have fed hubby and I beautifully since we discovered this amazing, easy to miss hidden jewel.The only nightmare is parking, there are three spaces right outside but other than that you need to be creative. There is a shop across the road from the pub with parking spaces, we've been lucky parking there but it's at your own risk,I can't recommend Buingiorno Italia highly enough and recommend you seek it out, even taking in to consideration the parking. Well worth it!

Without question this is a hidden delight in St Albans. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful and the food is sublime.It's worth the 5 minute walk from the High Street to get here!
