Outstanding customer service from two young men: Jake and Tom. From the minute we set foot in the building, we had the warmest of welcomes, despite having to deal with all the Covid-related routines of today. Friendly without being over-familiar, but attentive to our order: so often do I order a soft drink without ice only to be given ice. Not at the Bull's Head - all our orders were carried out to the letter. Then came the food: definitely a match for the customer service. Starters of halloumi and mozarella sticks with salad garnish (nicely dressed) and a home-made tomato sauce; another starter of mushrooms in a blue cheese sauce also went down well - and very generous portions of both. The mains continued to please: one absolutely delightful mushroom and asparagus VEGAN pie, with mash, fresh, perfectly cooked broccoli, cauliflower and carrots; a steak and ale pie with chunky chips; a burger with french fries; a barbecued chicken with chunky chips - again extremely generous portions and all very tasty and perfectly cooked. I forced myself to have a desert of apple tart and ice cream; and someone else had sticky toffee pudding with custard. The ambience was professional and friendly and comfortably lively. Very Covid secure - as soon as we had ordered, our menus were removed from the table for cleaning; the whole place was spotless. The only 'complaint' I could have is that there was no vegetarian gravy to go with my pie .

Did a tour of favourite watering holes, Horse and Groom East Ashling full, Richmond Arms West Ashling closed, Bulls Head last resort because not too impressed last visit some time ago -BUT - even despite Covid-19 they could not have been friendlier and more accommodating. 2 Brie and Bacon Baguettes came with perfect French Fries and a tasty dressed side salad, not expensive and too much for us old codgers ( doggy bag reheated for brekkers). And we were not the only satisfied customers. Whatever you are doing, Bulls Head, you doing it right, and we wish you every success.

Another great meal at The Bull. The pub has lots of character. The food is always very good and large portions. The roast beef was pink (just how we wanted it) with lots of fresh vegetables. The mussels were really fresh and tasty and had french bread and butter with them instead of chips. Very friendly welcoming staff. Close to Fishbourne Palace.

This is the third visit we've had to the pub for food and again we were not disappointed. Our waiter was unbeleiveably friendly and talkative and was happy to strike conversation and recommend dishes. His customer service was flawless - I wish I'd gotten his name! I think it was Ben or Dan or something like that.I had the fish pie and I can honestly say it still stands as the best fish pie I've ever had - which is a big compliment as I'm very into my fish. It was fresh, cheesy, a generous portion of beautiful fish and prawns and it was just wonderful. My partner had the lamb shank and it just fell off the bone and he said it was also very lovely. We had the garlic bread and sweet potato fries which were fresh and cooked to perfection. Excellent experience all round and we will absolutely continue and look forwad to coming here in the future.

Food very tasty. I have no problem with the meal apart from the fact that we waited a long time for it to arrive. So long that the waiter/barman came to ask us whether we had enjoyed our meal when he’d not actually brought us any cutlery nor our meals. I think we must’ve upset him as we didn’t let him give his excuses to us as to why I was served sweet potato chips instead of rice with the gumbo I’d ordered. If this had been mentioned before the food arrived (and bear in mind that it took a long time in coming), I’d have changed my order for something else. I ordered the gumbo because I fancied a rice dish. All in all, the food was fresh for us all and cooked well. Our friend’s liver could’ve done with being trimmed better. The fish and chips were excellent, as was the fish pie. We stopped by the pub to eat after visiting the Fishbourne Roman Palace and it was conveniently nearby.

My roast lamb was great - slightly pink, fine yorkshire pudding, nice roast spuds, immaculately cooked vegetables. The sensible half had gumbo - more seafood than she could eat, a little spicy, close to perfect. Great value. Her mum had pork belly. I finished that for her - really good. Deserts were Lemon Meringue Roulade, Chocolate Brownie and Ice-cream. All faultless.Glasses of house wine were fine. The IPA was really good - a well kept pint.Good coffee too.The service was odd though - despite offering table service we had to go to the bar to move things along at every stage. There were at least three staff wandering in and out but catching an eye was near impossible and for long periods there was nobody in sight at all. All fine, polite and good natured, and once we had ordered the food was prompt, but making the order was a challenge

Having occasionally popped in to the bulls head for some nice home cooked food I was disappointed to find the pub has recently changed its menu (which is less varied than it used to be) in my opinion for the worse. The meat in the beef burginon was so chewy it was just about edible. Not to be ones to complain we decided to leave it and not bother again. A friend also said this happened on a separate visit and the staff laughed it off but did offer a free desert, hardly a replacement of a main meal. His partner had a veggie chilly and said it was bland compared to the previous managements version. I noticed the menu is the same as the Travellers Joy in Southbourne so I guess the cook is batch cooking for both. Such a shame.

I phoned before hand and reserved a table as it was a Sunday and it used to get very busy and I wanted to be sure we had a table as it was my birthday. Arrived at 7.30 and it was really quiet, only 2 other persons eating but about half a dozen at the bar. The menu has changed a lot (I guess it would) but no steaks on the menu. The starters were a real disappointment, garlic mushrooms were obviously from a freezer bag with a small pot of garlic mayonnaise and a small salad and at £6.95 well overpriced! I had a burger which was actually really good, my wife had lamb stew which was ok and vegetables. All in all a bit disappointing, no atmosphere and I think overpriced for what we had.

I had the very large serving of lamb roast with potatoes, carrots, broccoli, and turnips, My husband had the venison with diced potatoes and carrots. We enjoyed a modest Merlot. (We noted that none of the restaurants where we ate had any local English sparkling or other regional wines.)

We stayed there for a couple of days over Valentines weekend and found the room cosy and comfortable, the staff welcoming and friendly, and the food outstanding. Highly recommended.

Popped in to this lovely cosy pub for a quiet drink before dinner at The Old Greenhouse. The pub was recommended by Nik, the owner and a fine recommendation it was too. Friendly Welsh barman serving great Ale's. My partner & I enjoyed the atmosphere and especially the log fire. So if you like a good pint in a traditional pub with no TV's and no noisy music then I can highly recommend the Bulls Head. Will probably return to eat there soon too! Many Thanks. John & Amanda.

A lunchtime visit with my adult son & daughter. Reasonably busy between the Christmas / New Year period, service at the bar & with our food order were very swift. Our mains were the Messy Burger, Steak Pie and Cumberland Sausage in a Giant Yorkshire - all very good and we'd be happy to recommend.

The owner has lied in his reply above & his customer service is the worst I have ever known. He lied about us not confirming that we were a family of 5, he lied about the rooms beng messy, he lied about mess at breakfast - we cleaned the tables & made friends with the next door guests! It took half an hour for my husbands meal to come & so he lied about that too. This is a dreaful establishment where they are just keen on extorting CASH from customers for average rooms & poor food & the worst service in history with no apology or remorse, just bare faced lies in reply! He also took cash & his staff joked about not paying uk tax!

On our way home from a few days away we decided to drop into the Bulls Head for lunch. Not the biggest venue going but very accommodating and comfortable. Tables were clean and ready for customers. An excellent menu - something for everyone and even better many of the dishes had a "smaller" portion option. We ordered early and our meals were delivered without delay (about 20 minute wait which on a Friday lunchtime is very good). Staff were friendly. Ample parking. Only one negative is that the steak pie I had was VERY peppered. Everything was well cooked and hot, nicely presented and large portion sizes, despite having ordered the smaller one. Good value for money.

We all had roast beef lunch - good portion, a bit over-done for me but nice. Vegetables were pretty boring - broccoli, swede & carrots . Puddings were nice. Service was very friendly but they did appear a little dis-organised.Lovely surroundings - a nice atmosphere in a traditional pub.

Although on a busy road this is a lovely pub with good food and is run by a wonderful couple. The accommodation is behind the pub ie not on the road so there is some protection against road noiseSit behind the pub with your beer; in summer it is in the sun and in winter there is a heater.

Chose this Fuller's pub due to its reviews, booked for 6, placed orders and waited...and waited...and waited. Lots of apologies from staff, promises it's just coming (several of these ) and eventually the meals arrived piecemeal. When all were on the table, no vegetables. Then a small dish of veg arrived. We asked for more, were told (guess what they were just coming ) and the mains were getting colder whilst waiting. Not one clean plate between us says it all. When paying the barman apologised for the wait but justified it by saying how busy they were "we've done 50 covers in an hour " like it was something to be proud of. If they cannot cope they shouldn't be taking so many bookings or should turn away casual visitors. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Having spent the morning out cycling with my son he decided that it was time for a snack so we parked our bikes up in the cycle rack and ventured in, I felt the tables inside were in places to closely packed together so as it was a sunny day decided to eat al fresco. It has been a long time since I have seen vines with so many bunches of grapes and it certainly gave the outside area a great feel. We ordered basic food but it was delivered quickly and to a high standard,my some loved his cheesy chips. Ice cream to finish and the billionaire short bread ice cream was outstanding, if only they had more as my son finished it off.

We had three different evening meals here, I was disappointed with my choice of liver on the first visit as part of it was not cooked but the staff did change it, my second choice was roast chicken which was lovely but far too much for one person, my third choice was ham, egg and chips which was lovely. My husband first choice was steak pie which was excellent but again far to much for one person, his second choice a lasagne which again excellent, and his third choice was the same as me. Although the prices were slightly higher than expected. We would visit again and recommend.

We ate here as we had been recommended by the host of the BnB where we were staying nearby. Staff were friendly and efficient but food quite pricey and nothing memorable. There was an error with my order which the waitress offered to change: I decided to stick with it as I was hungry! Maybe there's too much choice on the menu?

We were quite pleased to find this pub which was very close to our B&B. The Ambience and beers were very good and we were looking forward to a nice dinner. However, this was very disappointing. Although our starters were fine, my wife chose belly pork which we know is fatty, but this was exceptionally so and the meat was inedible. I chose chilli beef and rice, which should have been simple but was dry and bland.

Had a really lovely Sunday Lunch at this quaint pub near Chichester today. The food was served on hot plates, with plenty of meat, and a side dish of fresh well cooked vegetables. The beef tasted delicious and the lamb tender with a very good flavour. The dessert choice was very varied and again of an excellent standard. We will return again and would happily choose from the excellent menu choice for either lunch or dinner.

I wish there was a category between average and very good i.e. good. I was part of late Xmas celebration for a group of volunteers 18-20 in number. Service was good, the small choice of wines were fine, coffee good too. It has the ambience of a typical old pub, but well decorated and looked after. The opinion was the food was good, the portions too large, only two hardy characters managed sweets, I suppose for the price the standard was about right. I would have preferred to pay more, eat less, but more sensitively cooked food. It was sort of good home cooked level. I enjoyed my pork belly and my wife her veggie pie, but we would not go out of way to return. Shame- with a bit more effort with the menu, cooking and portions this could be a very good gastropub, but not yet.
