Seated out the back in the conservatory in this busy restaurant is a pleasant place to be. The service is pleasant and casual, and the food is good, with steak very much so. Been here a few times and will continue to return.

Estaría bien si no llamarse argentino. Prácticamente no hay comida argentina. No las empanadas. No facturas. No milanesa.

Soy italiano y me necesita.

Buenos Aires has been my coffee shop of choice in Greenwich for the six years I've lived here. Friendly staff, really good coffee and a range of treats - Argentinian empanadas amongst others - all make this a comfortable place for a break. The downside is that there's not much seating so it's more often than not full - not surprising given the quality.

It was a dining experience I will never forget. When the staff finally took our order which was a 14oz and 8oz ribeye steak, we had been waiting for 20 minutes. When the food arrived it looked ok until we started eating. My steak, which was meant to be medium/well done was dry and overcooked. The 14oz steak my friend ordered was fatty and full of gristle. Granted, rib eye is more fatty, but by the time he had finished, there was about a quarter of the steak that was inedible. I decided to complain and asked to speak to the manager. When the manager came to our table, we explained what the problem was. At no time were either of us aggressive or rude, we were simply explaining why we were unhappy. The Manager then raised her voice and told my friend there was no need to be so aggressive or rude. At this point I asked for the bill, we just wanted to leave the restaurant. The Manager then said she would go and bring the chef over so he could explain to me what a medium/well done steak should look like. Really! I know exactly how I like my steak, and this wasn't even close. The chef apologised and stated that the 8oz steak was overcooked and the larger streak was of poor quality. The Manager had created an embarrassing scene and decided to waive the bill. I was asked for my details to give the restaurant an opportunity to put things right. I am prepared to give the restaurant a chance to put things right, but I won’t be dining at the Greenwich restaurant.

Tucked a little way from the heart of Greenwich the café is rather spacious, filled with generously upholstered chairs and the tchotchkes and gewgaws of the home away from home. The coffee is first class, the espresso has a good bite and the café also has a nice line in dry goods should you wish to do a little cooking of your own. As a little treat it's worth the detour. This was the first time we have had dinner here, as it hasn't been open that long. We hadn't booked on a rainy Thursday evening, but they found a table for us near the entrance. As we didn't really know what we wanted we ordered the mixed steak platter for two, which was a lot of well cooked steak. The staff are friendly but quite laid back and the atmosphere was very relaxed. While eating our starters, which were delicious we noticed the wood fired pizza's; they looked really good and would definitely come back to try another time. They have some lovely Malbec's too, so this place can easily become a favourite for me in Greeenwich. Because this is a deli bread, cold meat etc looks really good too. This restaurant proved to be an excellent choice. We sat in the front part looking out onto the street and receiver excellent serive. The orange juice was squeezed in front of our very eyes so could not have been fresher. My eggs Royale were superb as were the eggs Benedict ordered by my friends wife. He had a full English which was too much for me but not for him! My wife had scramled eggs on toast which she said were perfect, fluffy and light. When the girls went to the loo they came back telling us how wonderful it was out back with another extensive area you could eat in.

My friend and I visited the other Saturday for the first time. We'd spotted the restaurant in the Summer and decided we just had to book a table based on the location alone as it has a villagey feel being so close to the Heath. We were seated downstairs although ground level would've been preferable as the venue is very small and rather snug. For starters we chose ribs and provoleta cheese which we shared. Then for mains we both had a lamb dish- Patagonian Lamb?- with fries. Everything was delicious but the portions were quite small. We both had desserts (to fill us up!) and a couple of drinks and the bill was over £100. Couldn't fault the service or friendliness of the waiter though..

Had a very pleasant Saturday evening at their place at 17 Royal Parade, Blackheath. Attentive service from the staff, small and intimate restaurant, ground floor, basement and outside eating with a cosmopolitan/latina atmosphere. Excellent Malbec wine. Price points a bit on the high side but my sirloin steak was tender and cooked to perfection. Side orders of spinach, humita & quilmes were good. The BIG DISAPPOINTMENT was our french fries/chips were of the oven ready variety. It's not difficult to tell the difference between the likes of McCains and kitchen prepared, hand cut, double fried fresh chips made from locally sourced quality potatoes. This was a big let down and so easy to put right. Would they serve desserts from M&S or Tesco's?We gave the waiter feedback on the oven-ready chips, he knew and was very apologetic. He said the restaurant staff had raised this with the owner but customer feedback carried more weight. So much for own employee feedback hey! Put it right guys.

The Buenos Aires Cafe in Blackheath always seems to do well so I had to find out what the comotion was about. It looked quite small from the outside and the terraces did not have the summer chairs which had so many cusomers enjoy themselves. It was raining so it didn't have tjhe same happy atmosphere of the summer. Anyway I was ushered to a corner table for one and waited 15 minutes for the restaurnat to open. They eventually let me have some Diet Coke but no olives or rolls. Some more people started to come in-they were celebrating an aniversary. I don't think they had the full Argetinian experiece though one of the men seemed to have travelled throughout Argentina.I looked through the menu -there was no gourmet burger which I had heard so much about form the Hairy Bikers series but there was Argetininian pressed beef rolled in breadcrumbs served with chips. A bit pricy but this was the only dish which was similar to the burger-£20. I looked through the starters menu there was the beef pasties -very cheap only £.3.50 which seemed nice,-spinach salad with gaots cheese and some pumpkin pasta. .There as generous selection of Italian food-mainly pizza and pasta but I have always known Argentinia to be more Spanish than Italian , Maybe Italian food is more popular than Spanish. Anyway after half an hour wait my beef came with the chips and I had been give a dagger instead of a steak knife which looked quite threatening. I ate it with effort with lemon juice and some spicy relish which didn't have any flavour and needed some jalepeno peppers which they gave me later. The family had ordered all the dishes I was thinking of ordering. It looked delicious and so much cheaper!!The place was very rustic with scrubbed famhouse table sand unpolished wooden floors very much reminding me of the West in cowboy films and ofcourse the Argentinian Hyciandas-Ranches.The owner was a ex -paparrazi who had taken photos of all the famous people-Nicole Kidman,Rod Stewert,Mickj Jagger, Kate Moss and ofcourse the late Pricess Diana. They were all adorned on the wall. It seems strange why an ex-photographer should open an Argetinian restaurant in this country although I believe Argentinain food has gone up in popularity in the world recently. Well there is many Spaniards in this country who could dine there if they get fed up of their tapas bars! The waitress who served me couldn't speak English and she wore her hair tied back.tight, tight jeans maybe she could spice things up at night and do flamenco dance for the punters and downstairs in the dark and poky bar someout of work basquer could play some jazz.
