Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias in Conwy

Excellent beachfront location. Lovely building with massive glass fronted views of the beach and sea. Great staff. Good service. Immaculate throughout. Clean toilets but poorly placed single hand dryer. My food was slightly disappointing in that the toast was too hard and overall taste was too salty but everyone else in our large party seemed happy. Others in the group are regulars here and I can see why. I shall certainly visit again when in the area. The overall experience was very very good.

Nice soda bread and Salted Caramel dessert, but Prawn starter and Halibut main were disappointing. Fish overcooked and dry and dish pretty bland. No evidence of chilli on the prawns as described on menu. Would not rush back.

First impressions are great. Drink at the bar with lovely barman. However the food was a real disappointment. The fish pie was dry and the mushrooms were a really strange ingredient. We really wanted to enjoy the meal but could not recommend.

This was our first visit, and it won't be the last. Having read some reviews, we weren't sure what to expect, but we both had a great afternoon. The service was exceptional, so thank you to all staff who served us. We had a lovely table for 2 by the window with a wonderful view as we had requested. The food quality was excellent. We had the Beetroot Salad special and Pumpkin Soup for starters, Salmon special and Beef for the mains and the Baked Alaska for pudding. We particularly liked the starters, and though I enjoyed the salmon wish, I'd tried something different like the linguine. There was nothing wrong with it, but looking back, I wish I had been more adventurous! The wine I had was excellent.. the local Conwy one, though at £13.50 for a large glass, it was expensive. One thing I was surprised about was the lack of choice in terms of which wines you could have by the glass. Something I think they need to look at. The place was very busy and everyone seemed happy to be there. We will definitely return and would recommend it to anyone.

We were in Colwyn Bay to celebrate our anniversary. On the actual day we booked to have dinner at the Michelin starred Bryn Williams restaurant on the seafront. It was a dark, chilly evening, but a brisk walk along the prom charged up our appetites. On arriving at the restaurant, which was easily visible from some way away, the entrance was in darkness (power issue - council is on it). Charming staff seated us and brought menus. I’d already been online and chosen!! We shared starters of salt & pepper squid and mackerel. Both were cooked perfectly. Squid can be hit and miss but this was crisp and yielding. The mackerel tasted of the sea, and not messed around. Mains were the stone bass and crab claw linguine. Portion size was good and the quality of the ingredients shone through. I spent much of my childhood on the Norfolk coast so I know about crab - this was fresh and well cooked. We didn’t have room for dessert but the baked Alaska on the next table looked amazing. Around £100 for two including wine and service charge was well worth the money. Next time we’ll do lunch so we can enjoy the view!

Visited this restaurant a few weeks ago for lunch on a short break in North Wales. What a treat this was. The food, service, location/setting were all faultless. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and, even though we visited some well established and highly recommended restaurants during our stay, it was undoubtedly our best meal of our holiday.

Great food service and view. My starter was squid with Leon which was lovely., my main of Stone bass was fabulous.

We had booked for afternoon tea only to find it wasn’t being served when we arrived. Waitress was very apologetic though. It was crowded so service a little slow, my fish main & dessert plus drinks were all great but one of the dishes my husband had wasn’t the best and the prawns in the starter weren’t nice & weren’t properly cleaned either.

We visited for a booked family lunch on a damp day in August. Whilst the meal was served pleasantly and in a timely fashion, it was not the outstanding experience I had expected. The food was tasty and freshly prepared but it seemed to be quite expensive for what it was. Sadly one month later, as I write this review, neither my partner nor I can remember what we ate - so it was not a memorable experience. The modern restaurant within a 'council' facility lacked ambience and was a bit of a disappointment, although the sea views were good. And a visit to the public toilets outside the restaruant but within the complex was a disappointment.

Food was super tasty, my other half had the fish pie to share with his mum and he said it was the best fish pie he had ever tasted. Portion sizes were perfect, super view over the bay as well, staff were friendly, polite and very helpful

Great venue. Smart but relaxed. Lovely menu, plenty of choice. Excellent service. Had the signature baked Alaska, fabulous flavour.

Overall we found the dining experience average. The fish pie at £38 for was merely ok. It was slightly undersized for two to share and nothing I would not expect to be able match just cooking myself at home. The pan fried sea bream with pesto, beans and although not mentioning garlic, was however excellent and the best of the main meals our party had. The fish fingers dissappointed. So with 1 great, 1 ok and 1 poor, we get average. The environment was visually pleasant, a modern open kitchen environemnt with sea views but although it had been a warm day it was much warmer in the restaurant than outside, unpleasantly so and there was no apparant air conditioning whatsoever, I suppose at least we weren't in the kitchen area! Staff were attentive and whilst all seemed to have a good attitude, more than one of the younger members of staff, including the front of house were chewing gum and even putting their fingers in their mouths to move it about. With good service but poor standards of hygiene this wasn't an area of recovery. If this were a moderately priced place I would have given it a 3, but for giving average but expecting a higher fare I can't be that generous.

Absolutely amazng. We love it here, the food is always excellent, the staff are so knowledgeable and friendly and tremendous views..so much so that we usually enjoy our breakfast and end up staying for lunch which is always a treat. Breakfast is usually Eggs Benedict or Royal, how do they get every egg so perfect? served along with the most wonderful blend of Green Tea we have ever tried. Although this last time I had the Full English which had the most amazing bacon and sausage. Lunch is always a firm favourite and we have great fun working our way through every item on the menu (not all at the same time), but I always seem to return to my absolute favourite Crab Linguine along with a bottle of their Albarino. Every meal is always a wonderful experience, most definitely a place to visit when in the area.
