Brodies Restaurant in Scottish Borders

Very cosy without being overcrowded, we found the tea, sandwich, and chips certainly hit the mark, with tasty fresh bread. The chips were magnificent, though I had to ask for the vinegar?

We struggled to find somewhere to eat that had room or was open. We tried several places with no luck then stumbled upon Brodies! And we were so glad the other places were closed as what a little gem!! The atmosphere was lovely, no one was crammed in, the staff were so lovely!!! We got parked right outside. But omg the food!!!! I'm so annoyed that we don't live anywhere near by and we were just passing through as the food is the best!!! I had the steak pie, hands down the best steak pie ever!! The meat was so tender and there was loads of meat!!! The gravy was perfect and the omg the puff pastry was amazing!! The sticky toffee pudding again the best!! I hope we get to come back again at some point as that steak pie was really the best xx

Worst food ever in my life. Absolutely disgusting food I ordered steak sandwich which was not steak never tasted anything so rotten in my life and as for the beef kebab with yoghurt and tomato I would not know where to start.

Walked in for a lunch as didn't fancy the usual Wether spoons,Costa or Greggs in the town that, and the fact the shop owner next door recommended Brodie's. Ordered steak pie with chips & vegetables as the waitress who took my order informed myself that's how it would come, imagine my disappointment when the meal arrived with no vegetables and a sprinkling of what looked like paprika around the periphery of my plate?? Meat although tasty and no fat (which I like) was dry along with the puff pastry which disappeared into dust when cut into! Overall very disappointed and at £14.75 I have to say well overpriced but the most disappointing event was being asked for my money with not a please or thanks to be heard........this particular female individual could benefit from a week's lodgings at charm school, needless to say no tip was left and the next visit to Hawick I'll be giving Brodie's the wide berth......dreary interior, poor food & even poorer certain individuals within their staff, overall just about worthy of the 2* rating I've given.

Have been friends with the oner for years always great food and exultant service ,had a family meal in bodies recently and everyone was served there meal at the same time 10 adults and 6 children.

The place is beautiful and the taste is delicious

Popped in for lunch after visiting Hawick - service was lovely. Food was delicious, I had steak sandwich it was beautiful!

My husband and l have just had the most amazing meal tonight in Brodies Restaurant, cooked by the Italian owner. The steak was incredible and the peppercorn sauce was out of this world. We would highly recommend eating here! We and our two labradors were made very welcome. So lovely to be able to eat out and take your dogs with you. Try for yourselves you will not be disappointed.

Went for a meal on New year's day. I presume the menu was scaled down because of this but there was no sign of the beautiful Turkish food I was expecting. The majority of the food was from the freezer, which was not reflected in the cost. We were uncomfortable as we heard the ?Manager/ owner teĺ the staff they could go as soon as we had finished, so felt under pressure to leave. The waitress cleared the table whilst I was still eating. All and all a big disappointment.

Me and my partner visited and ordered the ‘Turkish shared starter’ which was stated £8.90, a main each and only one drink, bill came to £43. We questioned this as it seemed very expensive because the mains were 11.50 and 10.50. Got told the starter which stated it was a sharing platter was actually £14.95 and since we asked for Chinese chips with our mains instead of plain chips they charged us £4 even though a whole bowl of chips was £2.80. Food was mediocre, service was good but a shame about the prices. Very expensive for what it was, I feel like they saw us coming basically and ripped us off.

Went for lunch here with my friend. Meal was nice but way overpriced for what was basically a pub lunch. Went back again and had the steak pie, gravy was very salty and the pastry disintegrated as soon as the knife touched it. Not going back, expensive experience

Awesome meal and Fantastic service. Nothing was to much trouble. even made me a dip to bring home with me. we will definitely be back. highly recommend it

Quite busy on a Saturday early evening with several large family groups - deservedly popular. We chose Turkish dishes, good flavour. The owner or manager (not sure which) greeted familiar customers and waved to us as we left. Plenty of staff, young, helpful.

My wife and I decided on the Turkish starter for 2 - Delicous and plentiful. We both also had Turkish mains which again were very good. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Reasonably priced.

We had coffee and cake in here, staff were absolutely great but the decor felt a little thrown together and rather tired. However, the atmosphere was still nice and welcoming, a bit like a public house from the late 90s. A bit of a refurbishment to bring it up to date or to create a style would make it a 5.

We booked for dinner. I told them in advance I was vegetarian and gluten and wheat free. When we arrived 3 members of staff looked at us and no one came to great us. We had to walk to the bar and say we had a booking, they did not ask for our name and pointed us to a table. A few minutes later we were handed menus. I asked if that was the entire menu and was told yes. I again explained about my diet and was told I could have chicken or fish. I stated I was vegetarian. I asked the waitress to speak to the chief and after a discussion with the bar staff she came back and said I could have vegetables or pasta. I asked if the pasta was gluten free, she said it is pasta.I highlighted she had not spoke to the chief and did not feel this was safe and left. They did not ask for our details for track and trace.

My wife & I stopped in Hawick for a quick lunch on our way through the Borders to the Edinburgh area. There didn't seem to be many places but Brodies looked busy which we took to be a good sign and the menu in the window was OK. We asked about Soup of the Day and were told that 'they only had Vegetable available' which we accepted. After a wait two plates of yellow watery soup with wilted green leaves were delivered with side of two pieces of garlic bread. The soup was rather spicy and I concluded that the cook had spilt the turmeric pot! When the bill was provided I was surprised to see that the menu price for soup of £4.30 was scribbled out and £8.90 was entered. I queried the bill to be told this was the Special Soup from the Specials board which I could not see on show! Begrudgingly I paid and then saw a small whiteboard 'Specials' but unpriced. We left feeling stung!

Disappointed after reading the reviews .. hubby ordered the burger that came with chips and salad ... he enjoyed the burger the chips arnt homemade so not great .. I ordered the quiche that also came with chips salad and coleslaw .. coleslaw that vile cheap stuff salad was covered in a dressing I wish they would put that on the side so you can decide for yourself and the quiche looked terrible my fork bounced off it I tasted it and it had a cardboard taste about it .. again not homemade ... lady serving was lovely and didn't charge me for mine which is good but we won't be going back

I visited this restaurant with my family. We all had the scampi. Whilst we all ate the meal the quality was not great. The scampi was very poor in quality. Very little taste. Frozen chips with the smallest portion of peas I have ever seen. This was not good value for money. We wouldn’t recommend this establishment I’m very sorry to say. I always want to support small companies and hate to give a poor review but unfortunately this is the point of trip advisor.

I enjoyed my lunch there today. Fish and chips, but with a difference, The batter was light and crispy, the fish inside was perfectly cooked, moist and delicious and the chips were perfectly crispy. I heartily recommend it. Far superior to Wetherspoons fish and chips

This place is amazing. We had a two-family meal here while on holiday in Hawick and loved everything about it. Highly recommend

Fantastic food and a warm and welcoming place to eat....

It was getting on for 4pm when my partner & I realized we'd missed lunch. The cafe we planned to go to had closed for the day so we went searching further into Hawick. Brodies was the first restaurant we happened open and it was open, it even had a sign outside stating they were serving teas & coffees, lunches and evening meals. The young lady that served us couldn't have been nicer. She is a credit to the owner who was busy setting up for a large evening meal booking. After perusing the lunchtime menu my partner finally decided on the burger whilst I plumped for the chicken strips wrap. Both came with a decent portion of chips and a side salad topped with a delightful vinaigrette dressing. His came with onion rings and coleslaw and mine with a sweet chilli sauce. Both meals were obviously freshly prepared as they arrived piping hot. We set to and enjoyed ever mouthful. We will most definitely be back.

Popped in for a snack on the way home from a few days in Scotland. No Brie for my bacon, brie and cranberry so had cheddar substitute. Was okay. My wife food was fine and the tea was strong and plentiful.

we visited this place for a dinner and we left with mixed feelings. The sharing started was very disappointing especially for the price of £13.90 - 3prawns, 2mushrooms, 2pieces of cheese, 1 small chicken wing and 1small chicken drumstick all deep fried served with leaves of mixed salad which resembled the one packed in bags you can get in lidl or aldi or any other supermarket.. The main was quite alright lamb well seasoned but again same set of mixed salad and cold pitta bread (which again resembled the one you can get from supermarkets) Pitta bread recipe is not a rocket science and other Turkish places make their own - you can tell the difference as it's freshly baked and full of flavour A friendly place but food quality could have been better

Food was the best I have had in a long time Service was first class

Excellent food. This is one of the nicest tastiest meals I have had. Husband and I shared the meat platter which was very tasty and filling. Mum and partner both had the lamb chops, again both said the best they had ever had and the mint sauce was delicious. Can’t wait to return

6 of us were staying in Hawick for 2 nights. The food was great on the first night, as was the hospitality. They had a steak deal the next night and we booked again. The food was equally excellent, and the staff lovely. The proprietor Ibo was very generous and all of the staff chatty, good fun and entirely effective. We ate well and had a lot of fun. Absolutely recommended.

Nice and friendly and good food

Giving a generous 2 out of 5... Starters were overcooked and very tough to cut into as if they had been fried multiple times. We were brought a desert menu between the starters and mains due to staff sending the main to another table which it should of stayed as when it came to us although it was visually appealing it all tasted the same (of nothing at all). The random meatballs were cooked on the ouside (almost burnt) but pink and undercooked in the middle as if cooked straight from frozen and for not long enough. In all staff were friendly but didnt communicate and asked us the same questions a few times over.

Spent a fabulous evening at Brodie’s with family to celebrate my sons 21st birthday, wouldn’t go anywhere else! Food was brilliant and we have some very fussy eaters but everyone enjoyed their meals, steaks cooked to perfection and so tasty, chicken in various sauces, fish, burgers and children’s meals were all a hit! The service is always friendly but very professional. Thank you Ebo, Abby and Caitlin for another special night, would highly recommend.

Yet another lovely meal with the family. It is very rare that a family of 10 adults and 2 children enjoy a meal in a restaurant without any complaints, but as usual Brodie’s meets all the demands of a group of fussy eaters. Rare steak done , medium steak done to perfection, fish dishes amazing and the rest filling and extremely tasteful. Thank you again Ebo, Caitlin and Abbie for a lovely family night x

First visit was for a 3 adult evening meal; it was recommended, understandably so. Good menu, 3 different choices - shared(!) - all enjoyed!2nd visit was when wife & I had some time to kill and fancied a light lunch. Good call.. basic, simple, but very enjoyable - soup & sandwiches.Friendly, relaxing - just what we wanted. (Other options were available!)Yes, we will return.

We really like this cafe & fund it a great stop en route either way north or south ! The cafe is set out really well but we especially prefer the walk through to the lounge area , an eclectic mix of furnishings quite retro, very peaceful & comfy seating!Our orders were a cafe latte & a tea & 2 mince pies ... delightful we will be back again soon!

We visited this restaurant again and it confirmed what we found previously.... this is a cracking little restaurant! With a good selection of traditional and Turkish starters and mains there is something here for all tastes and it is well worth a visit! As it is becoming popular it is advised to book in advance.

Family meal together the evening before a midweek Wedding locally. Food was perfect. Service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection and well presented. The owner's hospitality was outstanding. I can highly recommend.

Visited 1/11/19. The exterior is relatively modest and hides just what a great restaurant this is. We had the Haddock and Chips with Tartare Sauce, peas and a side salad. The meal was as good a Fish and Chips as I have ever had. The fish was large and had clearly just been cooked for us without standing as the batter was very crispy. Lovely interior and excellent Italian Style Coffee. Will visit again. It specializes in Turkish quisine which I have yet to try.

Stumbled upon this little beauty by accident, OUTSTANDING! Out for a bike ride with a couple of mates and were welcomed by the excellent staff. Warm, friendly and very professional. The food was amazing, really tasty and cooked to perfection, worth every penny. My mates had the steak & ale pie, and I went with the haddock and chips, was not disappointed! And not to mention the fantastic dessert menu! The pavlova cheesecake is to die for! We're already looking forward to our next visit!

What a fantastic night we had at Brodie’s restaurant to celebrate my sons 18th birthday, from start to finish the staff couldn’t do enough to make the occasion special! Food as always was delicious and enjoyed by all. Loved how they dimmed the lights and played happy birthday on the sound system...to great embarrassment to my son but loved by the rest of us. This restaurant especially the owners and staff are the best in Hawick. Can’t wait to return, we’ll done!

Favourite restaurant. The food is terrific, a nice menu with both European and Turkish food, so something for everyone. The Turkish sharing platter tastes amazing as does all the Turkish dishes, very fresh and tasty. The steak baguette at lunchtime is filling and delicious, and a firm favourite with all the family.

Best restaurant in Hawick! The food is always delicious, with lots of choice. The Turkish food and fillet steak are so tasty. The owners and staff can’t do enough for you. I highly recommend this place, not just for food but the cocktails are great too!
