I was really really surprised at how good this restaurant was ! The food (we got the dimsum £18 platter) was soooo good and the service was so good especially the lady with short black hair. So attentive, pouring our drinks and not only her but all the staff made sure we were looked after. Really nice calm music and beautiful interiors. The good was delicious, well presented, fresh. Much better environment and food than China town!

I love coming here because I like couple of their dishes, but I still prefer going to imperial treasure to see Richard and eat his peking duck. Anyways, at the Bright Courtyard My favourite dish is the lobster and the sweet-and-sour chicken. The chef can cook👩🏽‍🍳 The food here is amazing and underrated. I’m a big foodie and I rate this place 7 out of 10. Overall, this is a must try restaurant really good Chinese food really good dim sum. The lobster so nice I had to order one for Take Away

Went here instead of Royal China as it was packed and didn’t regret it! We mainly had dimsum but also ho fun noodles, tripes and desserts. Everything was really really good, especially siu long bao, we ended up ordering extra. Portions are quite small, but we ended up full and paying £30, so it’s not too terribly considering the quality and the area. The atmosphere is relaxed and quite. We’re definitely coming back!

One of the best authentic Chinese restaurants in London. A new member of the service team has also been appointed specifically for English-speaking customers since some of the staff find it difficult to communicate in English. I think this is the reason for some of the past negative reviews.

Used to be one of the better dim sum, and had by far the best molten lava custard bun in London, thick, tasty and bright yellow. But the custard bun is now terribly diluted and lack of taste and colour. I suspect they were trying to cut down on ingredients. Probably my last time coming here. Disappointing.

We went here after very good experience in the past and wanted to spend a nice evening again. Food was mediocre this time. Most disturbing was the poor and unfriendly service. The main dishes were carelessly put on the table. The waiter became visibly inpatient when asked to clear the starter plates which were still on the table. After finishing the mains no further attention from staff. The table was not cleared until we paid and got up. No hospitality, no question whether the food was alright, no smile, no good bye. The restaurant was not full on a Friday evening. There seemed to be enough staff around. They need to review their motivation and attitude.

Went for dim sum on the first day of Lunar New Year and the service was a complete shambles. Waiting area was filled with customers with bookings being told that previous customers at their table had not finished eating or that their table was being cleared, but many waited well over half hour before being seated - we stood around for a full hour before being shown to our table in a makeshift area, the edges of which had more empty tables with half eaten food not cleared throughout the entire time we were there. The place was clearly understaffed and overbooked, with only one person at reception greeting customers while also answering staff queries about customers already seated, and wait staff looked like they were juggling so many things it sometimes felt as though they were keeping their heads down to avoid eye contact with customers. For what it's worth, the food was good - whatever little of it arrived. Was told at point of order that most dishes we asked for were available, but after waiting awkwardly for 45 mins after our last dish was served and some frantic hand waving later, we were then told that the other half of our order had run out. Understand that this is a busy period, but if there are not enough ingredients and staff then the restaurant should not have accepted so many bookings. Used to recommend this as a reliable place for larger gatherings, but never again.

Long story short - AVOID at all cost, absolute disaster, service beyond terrible, and their operations are a complete joke. Last week, I called to reserve a table for Lunar New Year's Eve, paid the required deposit, and was assured they would confirm via WhatsApp. After waiting a day with no response, I called again only to be told my booking couldn't be located. Despite promises to call back, no one bothered to. After multiple follow-up calls, and even got told by the lady answering the phone that she was not familiar with the reservation system. Could not make my head around it, why would they arrange someone who is apparently unknowledgeable to pick up phone calls, and even worse, not bothered to look for help from her colleague. Being treated rudely, saying she could not help. At the end, by demand, finally someone who could help picked up the call and located my reservation, and instructed me to show up on time. Arriving on time for our reservation on Lunar New Year's Eve, a time meant for get-together for friends and family, and expect a decent meal. Guess what do get? An hour-long wait, despite having a reservation! And good luck trying to get any attention from the staff - they were nowhere to be found. When we finally managed to get someone's attention, they had the nerve to tell us that the table we were supposed to have was still occupied by the previous customers who hadn't even finished their meal yet! Can you believe it? I get it, Chinese restaurants can get busy around Lunar New Year, but this was just ridiculous. If they can't handle the volume, they shouldn't be taking reservations. Customers like me shouldn't have to suffer because of their incompetence. Thanks to them, our Lunar New Year celebration was ruined by an hour of frustration and disappointment.

In order to get more business over Chinese new year, it seems the restaurant has rented a lobby area of a business building and set up temporary tables. But did not seem to have hired the proper number staff. 4 out of 6 dishes we ordered was told that it “sold out”, it seems they didn’t stock up on enough of ingredients either nevermind having added 20+ tables to their normal capacity. The entire meal we received zero service other than staff dropping off our food. Our water was never filled once, my drinks never came. We’ve been going to this restaurant for years and this visit will question if we will ever go again. The food is as good as usual. If it was only a review of the food it would be a good review. Unfortunately everything else was terrible. We waited 20 minutes for a drink. We asked for Saki and there was a choice of 3 we chose the middle prices Saki. That was after the waitress trying to find it on the drinks menu. So after pointing it out she went to get 150ml for £12.50 which was normal. She then came back and told us that there was only one Saki available and she came with a bottle even though we had asked for it hot. I stopped her pouring it and asked how much it was and it turned out to be £45 for 75ml ! It wasn’t a scam move it was just it was her first day and couldn’t speak any English it went downhill from there. The food came before we had a drink.

I've heard about the "Hermes Hot Pot" at Bright Courtyard Club before, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Now they've introduced a £36 dim sum set menu for two people, which is quite a rare find for affordable Cantonese dim sum in the city center. Additionally, there's a 20% discount on dim sum every day until 4 pm from Monday to Friday, so it's still a good deal even if you don't go for the set menu. 🦞 They also offer huge crayfish with claws larger than regular crayfish, and the meat is plump and chewy. It's a delightful experience enjoying such fresh crayfish, but it's better to call ahead and reserve them as they might not have them available every day. ✨ Here are some recommended dim sum items: 🍳 Egg tarts: These are like the "London version of Chinese KFC egg tarts," with a crust that resembles the aroma of KFC's pastry. The filling is rich and creamy, not too sweet. 🌰 Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings): The skin of the dumplings is thin, and they are filled with flavorful soup and good-quality meat without any fishy taste. Be careful when picking them up, as they might break easily. 🥬 Shanghai Spicy Cabbage: This dish is sweet and sour, very delicious, and reminiscent of a small summer salad marinated in Sprite. It's a must-have for the hot season. 🍖 Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs: A classic Shanghainese dish with an authentic taste, it disappears from the table almost instantly. 🦐 Crystal Prawn Dumplings: Their prawn dumplings are larger than those in regular dim sum places, with plump and firm shrimp meat. 🐚 Scallop Siu Mai: Topped with a large piece of scallop, which is very fresh, and with bursting fish roe, it's a satisfying treat. 🦐 Chive and Shrimp Dumplings: The chive flavor is strong, and the shrimp is sizable. 🦞 Crayfish: Available in two flavors, non-spicy and mildly spicy. We wore gloves and enjoyed peeling the crayfish, which had plenty of meat inside the claws and were easy to peel thanks to their thin shells.

As a Suzhou native I have some knowledge of this regions cuisine. I am so disappointed with tonight’s dinner. I ordered typical Shanghai dishes for us. The sticky rice with date is covered with over heavy and super hot sauce( it should be always cold). Which I never ate before in my life. Yāndǔxiān soup is important childhood memory for me, but here yanduxian is weird, tasted just with gluten mat and huge quantities of white pepper. The correct one is actually full of natural umami flavor of fresh Bamboo shoot and ham. My husband had fish maw soup, it is as bad as mine. The soup is stinky. The only explanation is that the fish maw gets moldy. Shanghai smoky fish is too sweet, I mean we do eat much sweeter than other areas in China, but it doesn’t mean put thousand tons sugar in the sauce and unfortunately the fish is over fried, it’s too dry. The oder of the dishes’ delivery is also a big problem. We got first one appetizer then was a main dish? after were again two appetizers? When we almost finished our food, again came two appetizers? Anyway if you want to run a Shanghai restaurant, find right chefs who really know how to cook the Shanghai cuisine properly, otherwise it’s a huge embarrassment. At last for this unprofessional cooking and service we payed for each person £110

Went for a dim sum lunch with some friends and we tried out a few dishes - all very good! The crayfish is a new dish and my friends all love it! Personally the pickle cabbage is one of my favourite dish!.

點心蠻好吃,海鮮粥也很美味,響螺魚翅雞湯完全可以不用點,涼拌響螺也是非常的硬,店員說菜的份量很小,結果上菜都超大一份

Exquisite dim sum, the best in London - and possibly the only place that has cuttlefish cheung fung on the menu. Right now there's a 20%dim sum discount so although you pay more for dim sum here than at well known neighbours it is a great time to sample Bright Courtyard.

@brightcourtyard , the contemporary Chinese restaurant known for its modern Cantonese cuisine and innovative Shanghai dishes, has some exciting news to share. They have recently opened @bakercanteenlondon , an extension of their renowned restaurant, offering even more delectable options for your taste buds to explore. WHAT I HAD 🌸 Sliced Lotus in Honey Sauce (£8.80) 🥟 Classic Shanghai Wonton (cold) (£11.80) 🥩 Preserved Beef in Rice (£16.80) 🦀 Rice in Crab Meat Tofu (£16.80) 🌸 Sliced Lotus in Honey Sauce is a delightful appetizer featuring lotus root stuffed with sticky rice, drizzled with a sweet and refreshing osmanthus syrup. It's a classic and special dish from Shanghai that can double as a dessert. 🥟 Classic Shanghai Wontons are handcrafted and cold-tossed in a tantalizing sesame sauce. Personally, a spicy kick will be needed to addd perfection 🌶️ Preserved Beef in Rice 🥩 is a tender and succulent preserved beef dish while Rice in Crab Meat Tofu 🦀 includes silky smooth tofu paired with flavorful crab meat, creating a harmonious combination. @bakercanteenlondon is the ideal spot for a satisfying lunch experience, offering high-quality Shanghainese cuisine at affordable prices. We had the afternoon dimsum deal of £36 for two, and the dishes were of standard and great variety! The staff were all welcoming and showed great hospitality during our meal.

I have been eating in this restaurant since it opened. Both the food and service quality of this restaurant has deteriorated over the years. We had to wait for around 20 minutes for anyone to take our order. The sequence of how the dishes is brought up is wrong. Without any appetiser or main dish, they first brought us the fried noodle, which was burnt and has to be sent back. The roast duck is subpar. The steamed sea bass is good, but it took too long (we almost finished all other dishes).

Near the Hyatt Churchill so we went for dinner. In a quieter area. Nice. We had a few language issues but if all worked out. The food was very good. Authentic Chinese. Most of the patrons were Asian as well. The Kung Pao chicken was as spicy as you’d ever want it. Not clear if they have a bar. We saw one but waiter said they don’t make cocktails.
