Bridge Cafe in West Lothian

Amazing service from Bridge Cafe! I had an amazing afternoon tea for a baby shower. Service was friendly, fast and patient. The food was great, and the staff did an amazing job at the decorations. It's definitely one of my new favourite places to sit in for lunch or afternoon tea. Another massive thank you to all the staff at Bridge Cafe 🙏🏻❤️🥰

Delicious breakfast , fresh , great service

Fantastic lunch, food is amazing, can't fault anything. Cakes are to die for. The bridge is great, wish I eat here everyday.

This cafe is always mobbed because you get good food, at reasonable prices and the staff are lovely. They do sit in, take away and catering options.

Bought an afternoon tea for 2 today to take away, we were amazed at the amount of food, the quality etc it's too difficult to decide what was best. 10 out of 10 here.

Service was terrible. Freezing cold searing areas. Had to remind server twice about our drinks and still didn’t get them. I would have thought drinks arrive at the start of the meal and not the end ? Ordered 3 toasts which never arrived despite our reminders. Food was okay but terrible service. Won’t be back.

Took my daughter for afternoon tea today. Great value for money with lovely sandwiches and great selection of cakes. Woman who served us was rushed off her feet but still had time for a chat and a smile. Only very small issue is we would have preferred slightly less cakes and sweet stuff and more savoury things like sausage rolls or similar the way you used to do.This is no criticism and just my own personal opinion. Will definitely return.

This is a great place for food staff friendly and very helpful

Had one coffee. One milk. Soup, two buttered rolls, bacon roll and square sausage roll. Was given the rolls first. By the time the soup came my partner was already done with his. Defeats the purpose of dining together! Disorganised to say the least. Soup tasted off so wasn’t eaten. Went to pay the bill. Was charged over £60 initially. When this was pointed out to the staff member I was told it was my fault for distracting her?!? Then was charged £30 for the above. Had such a bad experience we left and swore never to return. However we’ve both now got food poisoning and the only food we ate for 24 hours was at the bridge cafe. The food was awful. The prices extortionate with staff who have very little hospitality experience. A truly awful experience from start to finish. To note I have not called the cafe or even challenged them because I am so angry and likely nothing will be done. I will however refer to the relevant authorities to ensure that hygiene health and safety are assessed and hopefully improved. Do not recommend at all. If you are brave then check the prices are accurate and your bill at the end and observe hygiene closely. My advice…..avoid avoid avoid.

Breakfast came as I had requested it and it was very nice. It's refreshing to have a breakfast that didnt need sent back because of something being wrong with it. We were both impressed by the quality of the products. If I could pick one fault to balance this review I'd say please butter the toast.... Honestly if you want a decent breakfast I'd definitely go here.

Staff are really friendly, food is amazing

Have been going here for years and it was once a great place food quality service etc. Since its been took over its been nothing but a shambles, low or no stock having to run to Aldi to get more supplies, food quality has dropped significantly. Stopped going for a while but was promised by manager it was a staffing issue and it will get better so decided to go back, we book our table ever Tue same time table of 4 and a couple times its not been reserved, today was the same, attitude from staff was well tough nothing she can do, i asked to speak to manager and she didnt have the decency to come out and speak she hid in the kitchen. Avoid!! Posts from them on facebook about wait times running out of stock food quality etc that are posted by management should give an indication of how far this place has plummeted.. well done Bridge cafe you have lost 4 regular customers 👏

Absolutely gutted to be saying that we won't be going back to what had been one of our favourite eating places for a long time. Arrived at 12.55pm for afternoon tea for two at 1pm. The sandwiches and cakes didn't arrive at our table until 1.35pm! I was for leaving at 1.30pm but our tea arrived just as I was putting my jacket on. The sandwiches were another 5 minutes after. The quality of what we got was poor. We got less cakes than we got with the previous owners and they have put the price up! This is our third time going under the new management as we kept hoping things would improve. A really shabby way to treat customers and unfortunately we won't be going back.

My experience of bridge cafe was second to none, top service & the food was cooked fresh. Didnt have any problems in the sitting area wasn't load or quiet, nice and pleasant for dieing in, would recommend for lunch and breakfasts the cakes are the best in Scotland for sure 😊. Value for money!!!!

Just been for lunch with my friend and fellow community champion. We had sharing platter amazing so much food. Areo and rasp white choc cheesecakes. Defo will be going back soon.

Travelled from Edinburgh via Glasgow and down to Doncaster today. Stopped at the Bridge Cafe for breakfast as my GF has never had a Scottish Breakfast. They were fully booked but made room for us. The service was fantastic and the food even better! Id never had Haggis but loved it! Thanks guys. 5*

Been going to bridge cafe for 3 months we have tryed most of the menu we have neved been disappointed in fact the food is excellent. The staff are brilliant nothing is to much trouble. If in Bathgate give them a try. Michael and Sue

On my own. Last minute decision to have a breakfast. In and out in 30 minutes (my choice I wasn't rushed). Deluxe breakfast, American, 2 rounds of toast for £8. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere and service. Reliable and dependable.

Great for the price with your drink included in the breakfast price. Clean to.

Top breakfast, good haggis and black pudding. Lassies who serve are excellent, great service. Recommend.

Their standards haven't slipped since last year & as u can see their £6 breakfast was all editable & a picture of beauty BUT i recommended to the young waitress that it would be a good idea to have cork place mats for the small teapot & hot water to sit them on & that would reduce heat dissipation.

It was a really nice enviroment and the staff where very lovely! The meal was excellent and the deserts come with a great amount of custard/cream.

Been here three times in last few weeks. They are doing takeaway only from the door and over phone. You can’t enter the premises and they come to the door to take your order or hand you your phone order. There is a table outside the doorway keeping everyone at a safe distance and they all wear a mask when taking the order and payment. Payment is card only. It is completely safe and covid compliant with no one coming within 2mtrs of one another. Even people waiting outside stand well away from others. This is why we started going as we knew they were taking the rules seriously but still able to provide a service. Food is always lovely and coffee is lovely. We really appreciate how friendly and conscientious the staff are. Well done for for finding a safe way to keep going without breaking any rules. Just a feeling of normality going to buy a takeaway coffee and sandwich is a wee treat these days that we no longer take for granted. We have found a place we will gladly continue to visit and look forward to the day we can sit inside.

Just received my delivery it was delicious.I would recommend afternoon tea got 2 kids and2 adults.It was only 25quid well worth it.The kids loved theirs 2.My afternoon tea cheered me up on a lockdown birthday will definitely be doing this again thanks to the staff for cheering me up with delicious sandwiches and cakes 😘

Just been for a lovely afternoon tea. Really enjoyed and fit to burst! Sandwiches were delicious so were the scones. Couldn't manage the cakes so staff gave me a doggy bag to take home. Good value for money. 27/11/20 My husband and I were dropping off my car at a local Bathgate garage and decided to pop into your cafe as I had been before. We ordered and sat outside as not a lot of room in the take away bit. When I went in for my order I asked if we would just eat outside at tables. The member of staff replied ' you do know we are in tier 4 and where was I from' which I duly responded to as from West Lothian ourselves. I felt her manner was most off putting and wondered if she would have treated her other customers the same way. Was it purely because I had my motorcycle gear on !! I will say however that our carry out was good .

First time in here. Was very nice that the staff gave us a table as they were booked tables which we didn't know. Our lunch was BEAUTIFUL the staff were FANTASTIC. Well done. Ps Your mini cheesecakes were awesome. We will definitely be back to your beautiful cafe.

Absolutely fantastic establishment for a wee lunch out. Following guidelines and safely as they can, food is fresh and prices are agreeable. Staff are all lovely and helpful also. 5 star

Service friendly, helpful, and efficient. Nothing too much of a bother. We had various deliciious breakfasts and they even had decaff tea, Extra toast- brown or white- nae bother. No heartburn, sign of a well-cooked Fry-Up.We plan to return post-Covid and finish up for a wee drink at the West Port opposite. Thanks to everybody at the Bridge for their cheerful service ... much appreciated especially in these grim times

Afternoon Tea at Bridge Cafe .. excellent!Wow what a great wee place for Afternoon Tea! Staff very friendly and welcoming, clean and following Covid guidelines. You can select your sandwich fillings and the scones, cheesecakes and cakes to die for! They are also full sized cakes which are homemade and delicious! All for £7.50 each! Unable to eat it all but the staff gave us boxes to take away what we couldn’t manage. I would highly recommend Bridge Cafe. All their food looked delicious, freshly made and served with a smile

As the title says, the service here from the woman who served us (I think she was the owner) was excellent, She was so friendly and helpful (advising us on our choices etc) that it was as if she knew us, although this was our first visit. The food was good - no complaints. Would certainly visit again.

What a great local cafe! I have been here a number of times over the last few months, just before lockdown and then picking up take aways once the cafe was open again. The food is excellent-breakfast rolls are lovely and always freshly prepared. The afternoon teas are also excellent, with plenty of sandwiches, cakes and scones and again always freshly prepared. Staff are always really accommodating and friendly, what a great cafe-definitely recommended.

I ordered a takeaway afternoon tea, which was frankly really disappointing. Unbuttered bread on uninspiring cheese and ham sandwiches, a rock hard, tiny scone, and stale truffle. Could do much better for £7.95........

My daughter ordered afternoon tea to be delivered to my house, absolutely brilliant and the quality of the food and selection tion was fantastic will certainly be recommended this to all my friends

Nice little family cafe, went on a cold Saturday morning for breakfast and it was surprisingly lively and busy. I was served by two ladies who looked like sisters, they were attentive and catered for specific tastes and dislikes, even a member of weekday staff was in there having brekky with her children so I knew it was going to be good and it was. Recommended if you are in the area and find yourself peckish.

Went today for the first time wasn't to impressed. Soup was just warm, chips under cooked. Got a panini with the Cajun chicken and asked for cheese and onion on it as well. Never got the cheese or onion on it, had an acquired taste to it, couldn't eat it let my partner taste he couldn't finish it either. When asked if everything was okay explained to the staff member and got no reply, wasn't interested. She tidied the table and brought the bill. Didnt get offered anything not as much as an apologie.

Have been ill with flu and called Elizabeth the owner of the cafe and ask her if she could do a home delivery it was not a problem, baked potato with cheese and coleslaw went down well. Thank you so much Elizabeth for making some so ill so happy x
