Brewers Fayre Malt & Myre in West Dunbartonshire

We'd booked a Meal Deal (as we are staying at the adjacent Premier Inn) along with Breakfast the following morning and were badly delayed on our drive and were running the risk of missing 'last orders' for food at 9.15pm. They were happy to take our phoned in order and the food was produced, hot when we'd arrived and sat down. Steven looked after us well and we were impressed with the ambience, agtention to detail and tbe excellent servi w.

Me and a few friends meet up for breakfast and the table wasnt cleaned. This was an issue but it was sorted us out with no fuss at all Thanks to Carrie. The breakfast was filling and well worth the money.

A bit like Fawlty Towers. We booked the dinner and breakfast deal at £25. Included was a pint of beer. When I was asked what drink I would like I said a pint of Doom Bar. The waitress came back and said that they had no Doom Bar on draught but I could have a bottle but would have to pay extra. I said I will have a pint of Wainwright's instead. ' Oh, sorry. You can't have Wainwright's.' I could have Coors, San Miguel or another lager, the latter being additional money so I settled for San Miguel. Why could they not just give me Wainwright's or the bottled Doom Bar??My wife ordered a starter ( starter and main course or main course and dessert were part of the deal). We both ordered main course but expected the starter to arrive first. No such luck. The starter and main course both arrived at the same time so my wife was eating breaded mushrooms and curry together. They go well together!!I tried a mushroom. When I bit into it a jet of boiling water from the mushroom sprayed the inside of my mouth. Painful.My wife enjoyed her curry but let the mushrooms cool down a bit before eating them.My lasagne was just like it had been frozen in a dish and microwaved. It was described as a luxury lasagne. I don't know where they got that description from. Much of the lasagne had spilled onto the dishes and become baked on.I ordered a dessert, a Cadburys Sundae which was actually very good. What wasn't so good was the fact that none of the main course and starter plates were removed so the dessert had to be placed to the side. We had to ask to have the plates removed.I don't want to criticise the waitress in any way as she seemed new and rushed off her feet. They seemed to be very short staffed. However she remained very pleasant throughout.Two adjacent tables also seemed to be having problems with their orders and their bills.I have not problem with the Premier Inn. We chose it as a journey break on the way up to the Scottish Islands instead of our usual stop in Helensburgh. I am not sure whether we will use this place again though if the Brewers Fayre is is as badly run as it was. Normally Premier Inns and Brewers Fayre are much better than this. It really needs a mystery shopper from Whitbread to visit and get things sorted.

Food was good , bbq burger was excellent, the service from Sean the waiter was excellent very welcoming and good banter .

Visited with my 2 young kids staff were friendly and very helpful food was great and the service was fast

We got our breakfasts here for staying with the premier inn next door and it wasn't good. We waited from 8:45-9:33 to get served not even half the breakfast. We ordered scrambles eggs on toast and crumpets with fried eggs, burnt toast went sent out with the crumpets and 15 minutes later the eggs came. The kids didn't eat the eggs and I picked out more egg shells than I've ever seen. It's like my 2 year old cracked the eggs. We ended up leaving after attempting to eat Nd have now found a McDonald's.

Friendly service. Food to a decent standard for a chain pub. Cooked well. Decent sized portions. Ate here as staying at the neighbouring Premier Inn. Fairly good value for money too.

Ordered a burger with mac and cheese. It was like eating an old shoe. Grim. Nothing more to say. Passing through on a trip, I wouldn't order food here again.

we have eaten here twice in the last month both times the service has been great. Staff are very attentive, pleasant and chatty. Food is also very good .

Just no words worst experience in a so called restaurant ever ! After a long drive been told last orders 9.30 eventually seated at 9.20 table booked for 9 waitress took our order we asked her to read it back so all orders were clear 40 mins later 5 mains brought out six hungry men waiting pointed out no starters 15 mins later 5 mains eaten an excuse for starters arrived, three from 5 sent back sixth member of party still no main ! By now it’s 10.45 and we we’re reminded last orders were ten !!! SERIOUSLY! I jus felt so sorry for front of house staff most pleasant apart from one who was obviously there for no other reason to annoy customers she needs to realise she works in hospitality !! A smile isn’t easy is it ?? Bulldog licking piss off a thistle springs to mind !! But the rest were so apologetic and polite The management are totally to blame for this excuse of a service !My salmon was the worst thing I’ve ever eaten in my life ! Rant over apart from that thanks for a great start to a long awaited Break

I went here to avoid the influx of 'Weegies' into Balloch. It was a calculated risk as there is always an inherent risk of Premier Inn tied restaurants not really having to go that extra mile. Fish, barrel...you know the deal..Only three areas to comment on today. 1. Six onion rings for £2.79...three could have been vegan wedding bands...2. Tennents in Coors glass...really? ...Not really that busy..I know that you guys get free Coors glassware...but some Tennents...Tennents are not pleased with anyone indulging in this practice..3. FFS...Coivd-19 alert ..please train your staff better to sanitise not only the tables (thoroughly in future) but the associated seating as I have yet to see anyone flexible enough get seated without touching said seat.Glad we didn't hit rush hour.

Had a lovely breakfast this morning at malt and myre in dumbarton.Great portion and great food. Breakfast chef introduced himself as kris and asked if we enjoyed our breakfast staff very welcoming will definitely be back! Thank-you again.

We visited while stopping next door at The Premier Inn. The tables were well spaced and all covid precautions well observed. From the typical Brewers Fayre menu we opted for the shared platter plus chicken wings accompanied by sweet potato fries. The breaded mushrooms were greasy, the onion rings overcooked, the garlic bread soft but the remaining fries, chicken wings and goujons were okay but nothing special. There was more than plenty but overall of disappointing quality. A nice profiterole sundae to finish cleared the palette. Service was prompt and efficient.

Had a meal here whilst on a stop over on the way to Skye. Lovely staff, very helpful. Covid rules adhered too strictly. I had chicken and bacon Caesar salad which had loads of chicken. Very tasty and I also requested coleslaw which wasn’t on the side orders but they did anyway. Lovely!

Food was to an excellent standard and delivered fairly quickly.. environment was very nice and our server Claire made our evening very smooth and comfortable

We visited Malt & Myre for lunch after West Dunbartonshire came out of Tier 4 lockdown.We had booked in advance, and were shown to our seats immediately upon arrival. Our drinks order was taken straight away, and when our drinks were delivered our food orders were taken. For starters we ordered a selection of dishes e.g. cheese dippers, prawn cocktail, etc. Everyone enjoyed their starters.For mains we had a selection of burgers (I ordered a sloppy joe burger, not realising it was vegan (I should have worn my glasses...) but thankfully it was very nice (although the base of the bun was pretty solid, and was difficult to cut)). We also had scampi and fish and chips. As with the starters, the mains were great.Service was spot on throughout. We will be back.

Visited malt and myre in Dumbarton today for the first time for a lovely family lunch. The total experience was first class from start to finish! Staff were very friendly and welcoming. I was served by Gemma and Steven who couldn’t have been more helpful and professional. Gemma welcomed us at the door and explained the new procedures put in place to adhere to covid restrictions which were followed all throughout the restaurant. Gemma also offered a bonus card for some excellent deals for my next restrung visit. Can’t wait to visit again in the near future! Top class customer service!

Well located next to the Premier inn, booking recommended, had evening meal two days in a row,excellent service, friendly staff,good food.

Stopped here for lunch on our way home and had a good time. It was very quiet when we got there but filled up by the time we left. The food was good, standard Brewers Fayre, and the prices very reasonable. The staff were very friendly too.

Aaron cooked our steaks and Julie served our table. They both did a fabulous job highly recommend, great value for money.

Very clean, great friendly staff, reduced menu for the present time, but very nice food,, did run out of soup for some reason, but settled for a prawn cocktail, and the mixed grill is great value 👍👍

Visited during the Eat Out to Help Out scheme as a family of 7, food was amazing, fab service from the moment we came in from Steven who seated us, Julie who took our order, even accommodating the fussy eaters with us, Khym who helped bring the meals over to us and John who brought our drinks over, all of them chatty and lovely. Nothing was too much trouble for them and I would 100% recommend eating here to anyone. We will be back xx Thanks for a lovely evening guys

I've eaten many breakfasts at Brewers Fayre restaurants attached to Premier inns and always been satisfied. However, on both days here and despite advising the manager about the first day, the se ond day was no better. The food was edible, but I prefer it hotter.

Really disappointing meal, very cheap and poor quality ingredients. It came out of the kitchen very quickly, too quickly. £9.29 lasagne and garlic bread - tiny portion, tasted cheap and microwaved to death. Even a supermarket frozen version would have tasted better. £9.99 chicken burger and fries - the kind of 'chicken breast' that bares no resemblance to a chicken breast, cheap and mechanically reclaimed.I didn't have high expectations but I could have paid half the price for the same quality at a takeaway except that I don't buy such cheap, rubbish food. We intended to have desserts but decided against it given the terrible food. Awful, will definitely avoid Brewers Fayre in future!

Recently stayed in the premier inn and had breakfast at the Malt and Myre, I was abit apprehensive about eating out due to Covid, but the measures put in place made me feel really comfortable, breakfast was lovely and my servers Rebecca and jackie were excellent, thank you for a lovely meal.

Had both breakfast and dinner while staying at the premier inn, both meals were lovely and service was great. The staff were very attentive and helpful, also COVID measures were explained and implemented very well. Thoroughly enjoyed my visits.

We have been to numerous premier inns all over the uk as our daughter is a dancer and competes all over the uk/Ireland. We always eat at restaurants connected to our hotel and without doubt Malt & Myre in Dumbarton has been the best! The service and staff were excellent, so polite and helpful especially during these current times. The food was perfection both main meals & breakfast! We stayed for 3 nights as we’re visiting loch lomund and ate here every night and had breakfast every morning. Make sure this is the place you choose to eat at if visiting!! Top class!

My husband and myself went for a lunch there. The staff and service were really good.The meal was good but I could not take my eyes off the state of the carpet, needing hoovered. The skirtings were dust and you could write your name on the ornament shelves with the collection of dust. The toilet was fine. A friend of ours runs a self catering business and I see what sheneeds to do to meet the criteria. I am sorry I will not be back especially as I have been careful during this virus.

Popped in for breakfast with the family food was lovely staff were pleasant and happy to help with any request nothing was too much for then alot of precautions being put in place to protect against the spread of covid aswell which is always reassuring Will definitely be back

I was horrified going for dinner last night to find none of the staff using face masks, I am 71 and have been taking great care the last few months, this was our first weekend away. The staff were lovely but they should have to wear face coverage of some kind, I sat with my napkin over my face when anyone of them approached me. I just wish I had left.

We ate at the Malt and Myre as we are staying at the Premier Inn next door. The service was very friendly and food very good. Cara our server made sure we were happy with our meals and had everything we needed. Covid19 protocol was being followed pretty well. We felt comfortable. The eat out to help out discount meant that the meal was excellent value for money too.

Pleasant evening out. Waitress Cara was lovely and always checking that we are ok. Meals were lovely. No faults.

Lovely service, our waitress Cara was very friendly, accommodating and managed a change to the order like a pro. We got the use of the Eat Out to Help Out with going on a Wednesday.

As we were staying in the Premier Inn next door this was the venue for our breakfast and the obvious choice for our first, post lockdown, evening meal especially as it is well away from Dumbarton centre. Despite a limited menu we had very good meals with prawn cocktail starters and sirloin steak mains both well presented and with the steaks on warm plates. The prawn cocktails were very appetising with large succulent prawns and crispy, fresh lettuce and salad that often lets the dish down. Our young server Tracy? was very pleasant and constantly checked if we were satisfied and in need of anything extra. On paying what we thought was a reasonable bill we found that we had qualified for a 50% reduction through the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme that was an added bonus. This also applied to our Premier Inn breakfast the following morning and made up for the overcooked, rubbery, fried eggs, a minor gripe.

Opened up for a week after lockdown with limited menu but still enough choice. Well set up for social distancing and part of the government's discount scheme. Enjoyed meal would return good value served by Clare and found her very pleasant and helpful.

We went back for the first time again since lockdown.As usual a warm welcome from staff and then they carefully explained the new procedures. Food was a limited menu but most of the favourites, so no problems. Our server Claire was her usual polite, helpful and efficient self. Nice to catch up and see that they are coping with all that is going on.

My family (party of 8) ate here on 4 occasions over the weekend when staying in the hotel next door. We were very impressed by the measures taken by the company and staff in the response to coronavirus. The food was great and service prompt and friendly. Lots of measures have been implemented: hand sanitiser, one way system, paper menus and even the curtains appear to have been removed. The tables are well spaced and plenty of ventilation too. Of special note was the gentleman undertaking a very thorough clean of each table after use. Very reassuring and I would highly recommend.

I had Sunday lunch with my partner and her kids.The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived, so we pretty much had our choice of seats.I opted for the fish and chips, which I enjoyed very much. It was cooked well, and the portion size was good. Everyone else opted for the carvery, so had a selection of meats, all of which were apparently very nice.Service was great. We were served quickly, and the staff were spot on.We will no doubt return for another meal. Would recommend

Called in for food. Still a good place to eat. Food we had was lovely. Hubby had gammon & chips I had chicken breast with mushrooms sauce & mash. Dessert I had was sticky Toffee pudding & custard. It was lovely the food.

We recently visited the Malt and Myre in Dumbarton for our lunch, while on route to Oban. The quality of the main courses were really good , although the plates that our meals were served on could have had been a bit warmer,thus ensuring that our meals remained warm until we had finished them. An easy service to provide and one that can make the difference between a course being good and Oh , It was alright. I chose to have my Caramel Apple Betty served with custard, that was served with cold custard and being pushed for time , I didn't mention it to the server. My main concern was the lies that one of the staff fed me when I mentioned that there was no hand soap in the disabled toilet. Her reply to me was " I'll attend to that immediately sir " I had to revisit the toilet before I left " I'm in that age bracket " and still there hadn't been any hand cleanser installed. Hand cleanliness was always a concern but especially with the world wide concerns regarding the spread of the corona virus , I would have hoped that the staff had been trained and instructed in the importance of cleanliness and in trying to stem the spread of germs among the staff and customers. Very disappointed with our visit and especially with the " I'll attend to it immediately sir " reply and still nothing having been done. C'mon people let's up our game and make it a place that diners would revisit regularly.

Came in for a business dinner with a client. Had a fantastic meal. I had the vegan burger and it was delicious! My client had the steak and said it was one of the best he's ever tasted. Compliments to the chef. Great!

Very quiet restaurant, ordered food at bar and starters arrived promptly, cleared soon after we finished and main courses brought out promptly too.

Came for a meal with a group of friends and the service from the bar was excellent, changing amending taking orders all done with a helpful smile. Good food as well. Young lady was called Megan.

Went for our new year dinner today

I was done with family and friends in Greenock and decided to stay over at the Premier Inn. I've traveled a lot so when they suggested we head into Malt & Myre for food I wasn't too enthusiastic, as chain restaurants are usually the worst. HOWEVER, I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice the restaurant was.We were seated straight away and were able to enjoy the lovely Christmas tree that was so beautifully directed. The food was delicious and they give you fantastic portions. We were quite a large group but our food came quickly, hot and delicious. There was a really pleasant team working, the wait staff were fabulous and very friendly. I went to the bar to order the food and drinks and was served by a really pleasant girl. The manager came over to introduce himself to our table and let us know he was on shift, I thought this was fabulous as you knew who he was and this is something I haven't seen before - I think you called him Nathan, I remember he was Irish anyway.All in all we had a fabulous time and stayed later on into the evening - I may have ordered one too many drinks, but sure, it's Christmas. Thanks to all the lovely staff there, we will def be coming back next time we are down.

Dropped in for a quick bite late afternoon. Just beat the rush and was served and finished just as the restaurant was filling up, the later it got. The server was good enough to save us some money by explaining that what we had ordered was on the “2 for £8.99” menu.! Cheers

I would just like to thank the staff and management for making our Christmas dinner a relaxing and enjoyable time. The food was excellent and the staff were very attentive. Look forward to having more meals here in the future

Had prebooked a table for a Festive Christmas dinner for four and were really happy with all aspects of the meal.

Plain shocking would avoid at all costs food and service is bad cost £65.82 with a discount due to a voucher and still wouldn't pay that. We pre booked a table for my mother's birthday and would decorate the table for Christmas for us to arrive which when we did arrive their was bone staff who ignored us till we approached them.

we go here all the time but The team had asked us to leave a review for them. We always get our favourite table near the door as I can’t walk the best and the team always help us out.

Service was fine, fish chips (haddock) fish was grey batter very greasy, totally tasteless revolting. Waiter could not be faulted, and apologetic. Also peas were cold. Refund given for fish. First and last time we will be there.

We had dinner here as we were at the Premier Inn next door. Plenty of choice, and all very reasonably priced.Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Food was all hot when served, and good portions too. In fact filled me up so I couldn't manage a pudding !!! Clean with a good family atmosphere which was prov en by the number of families eating there.

A little out of the way as it's not near the centre but really worth a visit. Have been twice now and fully intend to return. Wonderfully warm friendly staff who whilst welcoming and invested in your experience are in no way intrusive. The food was lovely and far better quality than I had expected from a large chain. Dining area is clean spacious and has every amenity you require. We had one meat eater and one vegetarian and we both found plenty of options. With lots of deals included in the menu we were very pleasantly surprised that a tasty multi course meal with drinks came in at less cost than expected.

Took my children for Saturday dinner. Their meals were fine, my Doombar Pie was dry. It was as if it had been left in an oven as bits of the meat had also dried out. I told the waiter and he apologised and said he would tell the kitchen staff. It’s a bit late for that now.

Visited yesterday for a catch up with a friend. Had a small issue with our nachos starter which was handled professionally by John who was extremely friendly and continued to look after us for the couple of hours we were there. Young girl behind the bar was helpful and friendly too. Didn't catch her name. Be back soon. S

We had an insect crawling across our table. The waiter removed it with very little apology. The food was mediocre and took a long time to arrive. We sat for a long time waiting for the dessert to arrive and the staff just wandered around like they were on another planet. Completely oblivious to the customers. Eventually managed to get their attention and still the course appeared and was wrong, hot dessert delivered cold. Pointed out to the manager that the staff needed some sort of training and explained the issues we'd had. We were offered a tea/coffee by way of an apology. It wasn't until we'd eaten, with drinks, that we found out the accessible facilities were broken and out of order. You might think that'd be the first thing someone in a wheelchair would be told! But then the "wait to be seated" sign was covered by a sign saying "find a table and take a seat"!

I like going here and so do others given that it always seems well patronised. They do a great lunch offer for 2 for UKP 10.00. Portions are fair and very tasty. Very good service.

We ate here as a party of two while staying at the Premier Inn next door, we purchased the meal deal through the hotel and found this to be excellent value for money. We had a 2 course meal with a drink then breakfast in the morning. The food was served quickly and was piping hot and presented well and tasted very good. There is plenty to choose from on the menu to suit most people. Breakfast in the morning was again very varied and plentiful. The staff were all friendly and helpful and always on had if you needed them. Would definitely eat here again if in the area.

staff member called Kara was excellant advising what was available, not only for but advised us on evening meal and breakfast. Because she explained what was available we will be back again.

The Malt & Myre is somewhere that a number of years ago my wife and I used to visit fairly regularly but over the past few months we have really not visited so when my wife organised a catch up with someone she used to work with and they invited me along I decided to go along and see if the place was back on track following issues we had experienced when visiting all those months ago (a chef walking out mid-shift).

A busy Brewers Fayre, but felt more chained that my local Wetherspoons.

Myself and six friends On route to Loch Lomond and stopped off here for dinner. Extremely disappointed with this place as Had to clear the table myself as was full of previous peoples plates and glasses . Then had I had to walk around the tables to get knives and forks off other tables. Went to order food and was one person behind the bar 10 people queuing for drinks and food . Waited 10 mins at the Bar to be told 20 minute wait for food. Ended up walking out.

Took the Mrs for a little date night and had a fantastic time, staff were absolutely lovely and really made the night!

I was really impressed by both the food and the prompt service. The server was incredibly courteous as well as fast. The meal was also very reasonably priced, will definitely return.

Made an unplanned visit but wasn’t disappointed. Food was great and of a high standard, also reasonably priced. The service was second to none. Very friendly and attentive but not too invasive. Great atmosphere. Toilets were very clean. I’d definitely visit again.

Breakfast buffet was great value and really tasty! Stayed here 1 night while passing through on our way up north. Breakfast was fab, and really set us up for the day ahead. Cheap and cheerful! Happy days.

Stopped off for food on the way home from a day out at Luss and was pleased with experience. Service was good, atmosphere was friendly and food was delicious. I had a chicken burger and my partner had a steak - could not fault either. The food is excellent value for money, will definitely be back if I’m in the area.

We went for Sunday dinner the place was so busy but the service and food was fantastic. The food was cooked perfectly and came out fast even though the place was so busy. The staff was great always smiling and standing to everyone without any stress. Will definitely be back again. 5 stars all round!

We stopped off after a busy day and we were delighted to find this gem of a place! Great selection of food. The sevice was prompt and prices reasonable.
