A great atmosphere and a good range of sandwiches. The only small issue was they made my sandwich with no butter. They stated the customer has to ask for butter beforehand?? Rather weird. I was given a couple of small blocks of butter, but they were so hard, it would hv broken up my bread and I had no time for the butter to soften. Otherwise all perfect 😊

Called in for a light lunch and a quick look at the garden. We enjoyed the toastie sandwiches and the vegetable soup - very tasty. The rose garden was closed (not surprisingly at this time of year) but we’ll call back in spring. We received friendly service and the garden restaurant is really quite pretty. We’ll worth a visit.

A really lovely, rather quirky but very comfortable countryside tearoom just off the main road from New Milton into Lymington. Great cappuccinos and wonderful toasted teacakes amongst other things on offer. The tearoom is very nice but there is also a really great garden to sit in when the weather permits. Staff are also lovely and very helpful. Thoroughly recommend.

When you go to see a garden in January you don’t have the highest expectations but if it looks this cute now then we will return in summer. We popped into the quirky little cafe to have a quick coffee but instead ordered a cream tea and a ‘fully loaded toastie’. I have made 1000s of scones for charities over the years but this scone was the best ever. Whether it was the sugar on top, spices or fruit I’m not sure but superb. My husband’s toastie was superb also, very spicy and fresh. We will return in the summer as would love to sit in the garden and have another cream tea!

Cream tea (scone) was excellent. This consisted of a scone, cream, jam and tea or coffee for £7.50 (herbal tea not included). Sadly the staff are not very friendly, lacking in humour is my way to describe them, slightly grumpy, you could say. Unfortunately we had to sit inside as they have a problem with wasps (obviously not their fault) but some wasps had found their way inside and were bothering us. We managed to capture them under a glass, or two. We ordered a second round of drinks. When clearing up we informed the waitress. To our horror she lifted the glasses up and told us they were no trouble and they wouldn't sting us. We asked her to leave all the glasses where they were. She ignored us. So our additional drink was ruined because the wasps decided to bother us again. The decor is rustic but could do with a good tidy.

While waiting my wife visited the disabled toilet , only to find it in a dirty state, no soap no toilet tissue. A lady eventually came to clear the table and remove previous customers cups ect. My sister in law ordered 4 cheese & onion toasties coffee and pot of tea, only to be told not doing toasties and walked off. No sorry No explication. This is 2nd time we’ve received a less than friendly service at this establishment, I can assure you there won’t be a 3rd time.

We discovered this place when out cycling and decided to take my mother in law there. Very pretty little garden and cafe. We had coffee and scones. My mother in law had scone with clotted cream and jam and my husband and I had cheese scones. All of the scones looked lovey , perfectly baked, fresh, light and fluffy inside. However, when I started eating mine I thought it was sweet, my husband agreed that his was too. This rather spoilt what would have been rather a lovely scone. I have a savoury tooth and found this off putting. I assumed it to be a mistake. When I went to pay, I complimented the lady on the till ( who was also the lady to make all of the lovely looking cakes and scones) about how light and fluffy the scones were but that we found the cheese ones rather sweet. “Yes” she said. “We put sugar in them!!” I have never come across such a thing before, and it wasn’t very nice. Obviously not a mistake so I won’t be ordering one again. The same lady was also rather brusque in her answer, and not “ friendly” as they advertise themselves to be. A real shame as it could be a gem of a place.

Called in for a coffee with two friends and thought we’d have a piece of cake or scone. For a place to be called Muffins Galore, the first thing we noticed that there was only one muffin on offer. Why? Scones looked very good so we opted for one fruit scone and one blueberry muffin, both to share between the three of us. The woman behind the till was lifeless. Why on earth do people work in hospitality when they can’t offer a smile and engage with the customer? Her face was stern. Her manner was unappealing and it felt as if we were troubling her by just being there. We said we’d sit in the garden - to which she wanted to know the name of the table. There was only one other couple in the garden so really...you need to know exactly which table we’ll be at? Could you not find three women out there??!!! Ridiculous. The waitress delivered the coffees then brought out the scone and muffin. No spare plates (as we were sharing). No spare knives or cake forks. I mean - what did they think we were going to do? No thought at all. So we sent her back twice to get what was needed. Her body language was as bad as the lady at the till. She’s obviously trained her! What’s so disappointing is that the venue is lovely but the people so unfriendly. They don’t deserve to be in business. Will we go again? Maybe - as the scone was fabulous (the muffin was bland) but the lack of hospitality would send us elsewhere in a heartbeat.

The location of 'muffins galore at braxton gardens is LOVELY. The gardens are well kept all year round (although currently part of them is closed.. i don't know why but it would be good to have re-opened ASAP!). It is peaceful, hidden away.. stunning. There are plenty of tables outside, with parasols, which in the summer is GLORIOUS. Having a stoll around the small gardens is wonderful. The inside of the tea rooms is also beautiful, LOTS of tables, pretty table cloths, the table names are types of herbs which is a very sweet idea. Pretty, colourful crockery. There are always options, for gluten free and vegan, I am both and there is always a soup, with GF roll, vegan butter, GFVG cheese onion tomato toastie, a type of cake/sweet treat, etc. They are extremely dog friendly which is great, they always have a dog treat for your furry friend which is MUCH appreciated :-)Often classical music playing in the background which, although I wouldn't usually listen to is honestly very calming and gives the place a great atmosphere. I love it!The food is great, nice options, very fresh, home made food which is truly lovely. Good portion sizes, good value for money. We have tried many options from the menu and i wouldn't complain about any apart from one - the ploughmans. The bread is a very small amount. ESPECIALLY for the price!! I have actually spoken to multiple other people at the tea rooms who have also felt the same about the ploughmans. If they only served more bread it would be worth the price as I think it's the most expensive item on the menu and I would be inclined to order it in future. There are a few other things which could use some improvement:The toilets for one are quite 'rustic'/a bit run down. They could just do with a bit of work to make them a bit more 'inviting'.Also, the 'extra' large room in the tea rooms is the same, just a little bit under-done. One end and a corner at the other end just feel a little bit like they've been put together without much attention. The staff are friendly and they don't do anything wrong as such.. but they just aren't really THAT friendly, they don't seem to have the natural hospitality skills to be open and chatty with people. One of the younger waitresses made quite a few mistakes last time we were there, and wasn't really very apologetic about them.. such as not bringing over one of the items we ordered and then claiming rudely that we hadn't ordered it when we asked where it was.. when she went to check, we had ordered it and it was her mistake. Also short-changed us, which i definitely didn't feel was an honest mistake on her part.

Part of me, selfishly, doesn’t want to shout about how lovely this place is. But, really, they deserve a review! I’d just come back from a trip to Cornwall and, amazingly, couldn’t find anywhere that did a vegan cream tea while I was there. I felt hugely cheated. So, returning to my own neck of the woods, I decided to rectify the lack of scone that had been shoved into my mouth over the past few days, and after a quick Google search, this place came up. You have to give 24 hours’ notice for a vegan afternoon tea, but that’s not uncommon. When we arrived, we were totally charmed by the setting. It’s sooo pretty, and the conservatory area is lovely. The one issue we did encounter was a surplus of wasps! England + summer = wasps; but this seemed a bit out of control, and I think they’re having a little problem with them at the moment. So if you happen to have a wasp phobia, you may want to wait until the end of wasp season. But, to be fair, the wasps obviously know a good cream tea when they see one and didn’t want to miss out. There were vegan cheese sandwiches (with some lovely homemade pumpkin type filling), hummus sandwiches, and peanut butter for our daughter. The scones were superb. I think the best I’ve ever had. Warm and huge. It was such a generous helping of scone that we didn’t have much room left for the cake. Three large slices of different cake (orange and chocolate, a chocolate cake and a sponge-type affair), which were more than enough to cut up and share. And, of course, lots of tea. If I could improve anything at all, it might be to have slightly more sandwiches, just to even out the sweet to savoury ratio! It wasn’t until we arrived, though, that we realised how impressive the rest of the menu is – especially if you’re vegan. Most of the cakes and muffins on display at the front of the café were vegan; and there’s lots of choice on the menu too. Soup, avocado on toast, even a toasted vegan cheese sandwich (which is one of the things I’ve really missed since becoming vegan) and lots more. It was such a great choice that we realised we didn’t necessarily need to book ahead for a vegan cream tea, and we could go there any time, knowing we’d be able to have a slice of cake and a cup of tea. I can’t quite express how exciting this is for someone who’s vegan! Although please don’t let this put you off if you’re not vegan – there is no way you would ever, ever know that many of their delicious, moist cakes are dairy and egg-free. Plus, the prices here are very good. Lately, eating out seems like quite a rip-off; very few eateries seem to offer good value for money any more. This place does. The location itself is idyllic. I turned up feeling rather stressed, and left feeling pretty calm and relaxed. I’m going to put it out there – but my eight year old and I actually think there are probably, almost definitely, totally certainly fairies in the garden! It’s such a magical place. We walked through to a second garden which has lots of benches and a pond. We sat on every bench (just to find the right one!) and it’s so peaceful. My daughter stopped speaking just long enough for me to appreciate the trickle of the fountain and the rustle of leaves as the breeze moved through the trees. Then she started talking again and the peace was shattered. But all this told me is that I need to go there again, alone, when she’s back at school!Really, I can’t recommend this place highly enough if you’re looking for a slice of cake, along with a slice of tranquillity.

We often stop for lunch at this café, and love the little gardens too. It's such a peaceful spot. Dogs are welcome, and the food is homemade. The gardens are still a work in progress, but the main part is pretty. You can eat inside or in the garden.

A beautiful ambience and quintessential British! The only downfall was the missing muffins! Not one due to a busy day the previous day! The scones and cakes are brilliant for the gluten and vegan person but for us ordinary folk a tad difficult to swallow! A must and hidden gem, especially for coffee and scone!

(Original) We went to see the garden rather than for tea and cake. The garden is very disappointing and has been neglected for several years. There is virtually nothing noteworthy, even the nursery was full of abandoned plants in trays. Very sad!

This is the second time I have been to Muffins Galore and it really is great. The location is tucked away but worth finding. There is an excellent range of speciality teas plus the more familiar varieties and if you have special dietary requirements there is a good selection to choose from including gluten free. The cafe is bigger than it looks from the outside and I would recommend sitting in the conservatory if you can; there is a superb grape vine in there and it's a real sun trap.
