Pass through the small street level Parisian style cafe and go down the staircase in the back to find the amazing venues Zedel offers in the basement. With a rich ambience evocative of decades gone by, you are offered the choice of the outstanding cabaret "Crazy Coqs", the elegant cocktail bar "Bar Américain", or the grand and lively Parisian restaurant "Brasserie Zedel". Plant-based French cuisine options available. Love Zedel's and I make a point to catch a show, a meal, or, ideally both, each time I am in London.

Fancy French restaurant with live music (A jazz band was performing on Sunday). You need a reservation for the restaurant. Food, atmosphere and service were really nice. They offer bagels and butter. I had Chopped Steak Americain, Fillet of Sea Bream, Celeriac Salad, Petit Rhubarb Vanilla Cup, Lemon Meringue Pie. Everything was delicious. I liked the main dishes more than desserts and salad. I’d recommend the place for a fancy dinner.

Brasserie Zedel is an absolute gem tucked beneath the bustling streets of Piccadilly Circus. From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a bygone era of glamour and elegance. The art deco interior is stunning, reminiscent of the golden age, setting the perfect ambiance for an unforgettable dining experience. The French cuisine is simply outstanding, with every dish bursting with flavor and authenticity, yet surprisingly affordable. The French Onion Soup is to die for. If you cannot decide, try either the 2 course or 3 course meals. The addition of live music adds to the charm, making every visit feel like a special occasion. Whether you're looking for a romantic evening or a gathering with friends, Brasserie Zedel caters to all, ensuring everyone can wine and dine in style. It’s like a secret Parisian club in England! You must ask for the “Brassiere” when you come here. Head down the stairs and be prepared for a surprise. Worthy of a “Hidden London” pin! This French eatery was a find! PRO: - Replicates a Parisian experience in London - Budget minded prices. Prix Fix starts at 16.95 which is very economical - Free bread at table. - Hidden. Sort of. You have to tell the front door man that you’ll be eating at the “Brassiere” - 3 piece music ensemble. Wonderful entertainment. Free, like dinner and a show. They sounded marvelous (violin, guitar and accordion) - Bustling and vibrant. A true experience CON: - As always, it has to be about the food. Everyone’s food was over salted, especially the soup. - The “tap” water is filtered AND they charge you for it. Make sure there is a label if you want still water. They charge for the tap water because it’s filtered - but how can you know? SUMMARY: I think this place is good for a snack, not a proper dinner as all plates were overly salty. But it’s so beautiful here and the music was wonderful. I’m happy to come again.

Appalling service and staff. We asked for a table without having a reservation, we were offered a table with the condition that it was only available for 1 hour, which we accepted. We decided to order coffee and dessert given the limited time we had. The waiter was extremely rude about it. We were forced to either order dinner or leave the premises. We were seated for a mere 5 minutes before we were forced to get up and leave. There is no justification for this disgusting and embarrassing treatment of customers, I truly have never experienced something like this in a restaurant before. Used to be a regular but will never come back again. Shocking costumer service to say the least and absolutely not worth your time and money. Definite pass there are better places in London…

I’m not quite sure where to begin….. the restaurant is vast, busy and loud to such an extent that we had to shout across a small round table to hear each other. In the end we didn’t stay for dessert as the place was just such a cacophony of noise. It was a tourist trap and felt very faux French. What’s the idea of having no English on the menu? Trying to be very French? but it’s just unhelpful. I felt like I was eating in the middle of a vast frenetic cruise ship. And now to the food, not great at all for the price you pay. £38 entrecôte was underwhelming and the onglet tasted burnt. The green salad was literally large leaves dumped in a bowl, no effort whatsoever to add any “je ne sais quoi” to it.. For a table of five, part of one dish appeared first and then several minutes later one of the steaks arrived. The waiter didn’t know if it was the rare or the medium steak so he took it away to find out and came back with it five minutes later to say which cooking it was. Why was it so long to find that out? Then after a few further minutes the rest of the meals were served. Basic elements - serve a table more or less at the same time….. . The French fries at £5 a pop were luke warm and the spinach was stone cold. The venison was barely hot when it arrived. I would normally say something on the night but everything was so off kilter and as we were there for a celebration I didn’t want to make a fuss. We couldn’t get out of the restaurant fast enough. Don’t waste your money here, I’m amazed at all the top reviews. On a positive note, our waiter was friendly and helpful and one of the party enjoyed the venison.

We came here for an early Valentine's Day celebration, after which I unfortunately feel inclined to leave a poor review. I was firstly very disappointed to find out after excitedly deciding on the Venison that it was out of stock, only then to go back and excitedly decide on another dish to also be told it was out of stock - the waiter really should have informed us at the beginning to avoid the disappointment and time spent deciding, which had a knock effect for the rest of the meal. I secondly did not enjoy our service altogether as the waiter's sarcasm made me feel slightly uncomfortable at times, or at least at a minimum it certainly did not positively contribute to my experience as a 15% service charge implies it should. This really was a shame because the setting and atmosphere itself is truly amazing there, especially for the occasion we attended, but it just goes to show how receiving poor service can really make or break our perception of a dining experience, or at least mine anyway!

My recent dining experience at Zedel Brasserie was nothing short of spectacular. Nestled in the heart of London, this charming brasserie transports you to the bustling streets of Paris with its timeless elegance and authentic French cuisine. As soon as I stepped through the doors of Zedel, I was greeted by the grandeur of the Belle Époque-inspired décor. The soaring ceilings, gilded accents, and plush red banquettes exuded an air of sophistication and refinement. The service at Zedel was impeccable, with attentive staff members who made me feel welcomed and well-cared for throughout my meal. From recommendations on the menu to ensuring that every detail of our dining experience was attended to, the team at Zedel truly went above and beyond to exceed our expectations. Now, let’s talk about the food. Each dish that graced our table was a celebration of classic French cuisine executed with precision and flair. From the rich and velvety soupe à l’oignon to the perfectly cooked steak frites, every bite was a symphony of flavors that transported me to the streets of Paris. And let’s not forget about the desserts! The patisserie selection at Zedel is simply divine, with indulgent treats like crème brûlée and tarte au citron that are sure to satisfy even the most discerning sweet tooth. In addition to the exquisite food and ambiance, Zedel offers incredible value for the quality of the experience. The prix fixe menu provides an opportunity to enjoy a multi-course meal of exceptional quality at a reasonable price—a rare find in the heart of London. In conclusion, dining at Zedel Brasserie is an unforgettable experience that captures the essence of Parisian dining in the heart of London. We had such a lovely lunch here and for central London not over-priced. We had live music and a choice of a varied menu. I had French onion soup and grilled calf's liver which they cooked exactly to my instruction. We shared an additional vegetable as the portion is large. We should have shared the chocolate mouse too as that was huge. The service was polite and efficient and took a food allergy seriously and offered an alternative soup item (who know onion soup has tomato in it??). A lovely celebration and the wine was not horribly expensive either. I do wish the French used side plates, I hate getting butter on the table cloth! Looking forward to going again.

We dined here for the evening and, unfortunately, had a rather disappointing visit. Though we appreciated the interior, a gorgeous open space with a 30s feel, the food was pretty bland and disappointing. I ordered what was described as an Artichoke ‘stew’, however what arrived was a curry- with overwhelming tastes of Cajun powder and lemon, with overcooked/mushy cous cous. My partener ordered what was described as a ‘chopped’ steak, and what arrived was a ground beef patty- this was not clear from the menu description. Not only was it bland but also dry and unevenly cooked in the middle. The service wasn’t great, and we were left waiting for quite a long while at the end of the meal, wouldn’t be returning.

Considering this restaurant is listed as one of the best French restaurants you would have an high expectation. The interior design was beautiful however that’s where the good things stopped . We ordered 2 x soups which were okay but not great the potato and leak was watery and the lobster soup was lacking the seafood taste. The escargots were gross they were very hard to eat and we just could finish them all just due to the taste , i have had them in the past and this would be the worst . We also go the special which was a salad with pumpkin and goats cheese which I must say had the worst taste to it and was not nice to eat . Followed by the sirloin steak with fries which you would think paying £38 it would be nice but again let down . Overall the best thing we ate was the bread that is provided to the table , £117 we spent in total and was not worth it. Would not recommend this place it was such a let down as French is our favourite cuisine .

Prix-fixe menu excellent value though we felt rushed and somewhat discarded. Would possibly return for lunch or a small bite at the bar but won’t be coming back for dinner.

This such a beautiful restaurant. The food was good and for London we felt the price was reasonable. If I had any complaint it would be to say the serving staff whilst polite and efficient were not friendly and welcoming.

Unbeliable food and service. Daniel is a very very good professional. We felt like we were at home. Congratulations. Hope to see him every time I come to London

Restaurant is absolutely a vibe but the food was bad. The only relatively edible dish we had was the chicken entrée. The steak was poorly cooked and improperly seasoned. Service was slow and flaky. Crémé brûlée was good but did not make up for the otherwise unpleasant meal.

Hello team at Zedel...sorry to be negative but we had a deeply disappointing, dull and overpriced experience at your restaurant last Sunday February 11th 2024. The table as above was booked for a birthday celebration lunch and was selected on recommendation plus the fact that there would be live music and wonderful service! As per your own blurb: “I think what makes Zédel so special is a combination of things from the ambience to the décor. It’s also the service our customers receive, which is outstanding – for a restaurant or Brasserie of this size, we literally have a Front of House army to tend to all our customers’ needs.” — Charles Hilton, Head Chef at Brasserie Zédel, 7 years However overall the experience was exceptionally poor standard and did not in any way resemble or reflect this boast: • No welcome other than a rather frosty showing to our table, and certainly no warm greeting • No mention of my son's birthday as per the booking (what is the point of adding it to the reservation?) • The live music was barely audible over the din of the restaurant - which had been the main attraction and lasted about 40mins! • Service was painfully slow, impersonal and apathetic • The Vichyssoise soup was lukewarm especially as we had observed it sitting on the side waiting for the server to bring to our table for at least 15 minutes • The taste was utterly bland and the texture unpleasantly gloopy • Our bottle of champagne was also left on the side for 20 mins before being brought over and left in an ordinary dull wine 'cooler' not even a traditional ice bucket • Our drinks were never topped up. We were simply left to our own devices. • The main dish of halibut was also tepid and again extremely unremarkable in taste despite being priced at £34 a portion! • The floating island dessert was quite tasteless with a viscous texture and swimming in an overly sweet sickly sauce. • The only time service was 'swift' was on presentation of the bill -which is very telling of this establishment's motivation • The prices are in our opinion (even as Londoners) totally over-inflated and do not represent value for money in any shape or form. Noticeably it appears the main custom to be tourists. • Total bill for 3 person was £274 including the hefty utterly undeserved 15% charge of over £35.00. Not wishing to create a fuss at the time and mindful that there were too many disinterested staff chatting amongst themselves to care for the patrons, I made the decision to post this instead. In a situation like this I would expect either a full refund due to the complete loss of enjoyment particularly on a birthday or at the very least genuine gesture of goodwill. Hopefully this may help staff to attain a better level of service, food and overall experience going forward. We look forward to your consideration and a favourable empathetic response - although we may escalate the matter separately. Sadly Zedel's response is unacceptable.

This was my second visit to Zedel Restaurant. The restaurant was way too busy, crowded, and loud. The service was okay despite being charged with the service charge. The creme potato soup was amazing. I didn't enjoy my main course but I did enjoy the dessert. Overall our lunch date was enjoyable.

It's not what it used to be after visiting again. Cover charge for what, it's just £2 you say but what do they use that for? Bread was free so why is it in the bill Service lackluster, ushered to leave after waiting for nearly 30mins for food. Wait staff needs to be more knowledgeable regarding the menu. The atmosphere feels like I'm in a market by how loud it is, no ambient music playing. Now it's just a tourist trap and the glory days of its past self are long gone.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant and the food was really good. French onion soup followed by a dish of the day. We really liked everything about Zedel. The atmosphere. The service. The area in London. Everything.

Lovely place for food and entertainment at reasonable price. Waiter Daniel made the meal outstanding. Had the prixe fixe which was really good and followed by live music in the Bar Coqs, which was slightly short at 70 minutes, but very enjoyable.

Rushed chaotic service. Baked cammerbert came without bread which was only served once the cheese had cooled. Noisy and impersonal. Food ok
