Brasserie Joel in Lambeth

The beef bourguignon was superb, though the wine and cocktails selection was somewhat limited. Nevertheless, the dessert, particularly the dessert cocktail, was absolutely fantastic.

The dishes are good but not very filling. The service is long. The room is noisy.

We arrived late due to our flight from the US, they took us in and sat us and never rushed us. The food was outstanding, a great way to start our trip.

Really good restaurant would definitely go back and highly recommend!

The restaurant was quite full at 7:30pm with large parties and noisy children. In fairness it was Valentine's Day. Whilst it is always nice to see families with children dining together the somewhat intimate ambience the brasserie seems to target does not seem best suited to young diners. Possibly the problem is that hotel does not offer a more suitable restaurant option for those with youngsters. The bar area serves food but is rather large and not exactly cosy. The food was OK. The onion soup was extremely tasty but the cheese in it was surprisingly over generous making it a struggle to eat. The wine list is as you would expect in a London hotel, was quite expensive but with some excellent options. I made the mistake of asking for a brief pause between starters and main which as it always inevitably does, turned into an unacceptably long delay.

Excellent place to celebrate a beautiful evening or to simply enjoy a splendid lunch or dinner. Very tasty food and great selection on the menu.

The decor is dark and I suppose it's to be for nighttime but it mainly comes off dark. Plenty of seating. Varied menu selection fir the food but very limited wines by the glass.

We stayed at the Parkplaza with this level, so we booked a table. We ordered the 3-course menu. Although the food was good, there was nothing exceptional about it. Replacing pork chops with chicken and fries is something I could order at any random pub as well. The ambiance is not really cozy, but perhaps we have different expectations on the continent.

Typical hotel restaurant. Slick. Pleasant enough but lacked atmos and overpriced.

Service in the restaurant was excellent. We were made to feel welcome and every attention to our needs was quickly attended to. The menu was good as was the wine list. All served with quiet efficiency and unobtrusive care. The help with my wife's gluten free diet was exceptional. Thank you very much.

We expected a restaurant with a nice view but there were no Windows at all. We thought it was very poorly decorated (not all actually) . It looked more of a cafeteria then a nice restaurant. However the food was good and service as well.

The restaurant ambiance was perfect and the level of attention we had from the staff was extraordinary. The food was amazing and, from beginning to the ending I felt very well looked after. The waiter waiting us was smiling and very attentive to small details. I will definitely return very soon.

A good if pricy place to eat before the theatre, opening from 5.30 p.m. 3-course set menu useful but went for the a la carte because only wanted starter and main courses. Good choice but quite expensive. Helpful that a green salad was provided to accompany the pasta even though not on the menu. Pan fried duck breast was pink and tasty but lacked a crispy skin. Service was excellent and gave us plenty of time to eat before the theatre.

Food was great but very disappointing that the restaurant was dark with no windows and views considering the hotel overall has great views. I asked for a table with a view so would have been nice to let customers know that there isn’t one.

We celebrated my wife's birthday at Brasserie Joel and it was a big success in terms of food, service and hospitality. I recommend that you try their beef bourguignon and the rump of lamb. The servers were very courteous and accommodating even we knew that they were busy. The whole team was just an orchestra when it comes to their task. I can only commend their manager for this. We will definitely be back before Christmas.

As a birthday celebration meal, unfortunately only half of our party thoroughly enjoyed their food. The other half found it slightly disappointing for the caliber of the restaurant - there was little crab in the crab linguine and the linguine was very floury; the red meat dishes very delicious. On a positive the waiter was very good, attentive and efficient.

Thea, our server, was attentive, polite and simply lovely. The beetroot appetizer was perfectly acidic and extremely well balanced with the micro greens. Delicious dish!

Very good food. We had the burrata salad as a starter, which was amazing. The cheese was very fresh and the tomato mixture was an excellent add to the cheese. Main course, I had the rib eye and my husband had the black cabbage pasta. Both were perfected dishes with a perfect balance of ingredients. The pasta was cooked al dente and my steak to perfection. Service was phenomenal and I would say, the best we have received in a long time. Attentive but not over bearing. Food was picked up from the kitchen as soon as it was ready as it was piping hot when it came to our table. As a red seal chef and being in the industry for a very long time, I would recommend coming here for a good meal. Treat yourself!

We came to Brasserie Joel because we were staying at the Park Plaza Westminster, were very jet-lagged, and needed something close for the group (which included two kids). The food was good. My kids had plain pasta and Mac n' Cheese, my husband and I had ratatouille, and other guests ordered boeuf bourguignon and roast chicken. It wasn't the most incredible thing I have had but was good overall. Was disappointed in the service. Just did not feel well attended to and almost felt like we were an inconvenience to our waitress. She was much more responsive to other tables around us - not sure if its because we had kids - but didn't resonate well with me. Not sure if I would return back.

The Bavette was a delicious steak—tender, juicy and full of flavor. It was prepared just as described. Our warm, personable server made our dining experience memorable and we would go back next time we travel through London.

I booked Joels for my sons 18th birthday as he was staying in the hotel. He had a fantastic time with the restaurant surprising him with a lovely tri of deserts with happy birthday on it free of charge. Lovely touch and not expected. Thank you so much, we will definately be back again.

Restaurant is completely independent of the hotel and you can’t make a room charge unless you’ve left a deposit with the hotel reception. You’d think a better arrangement could be made. Food and ambience is average.

Good Food and a friendly and professional service.

Food was expensive and poor quality. My lamb was extremely fatty with what was described as roast potato but was actually a hard potato slice. My friend had a giant unseasoned loin of pork, she also had what was described as roast potatoes but were undercooked cubes. Sides were good. Menu still have Christmas desserts. Staff were a little over eager but generally good. I’d never eat here again.

Excellent all round brasserie in a lovely new hotel.

We enjoyed a nice meal in Brasserie Joel this evening. We were quickly seated, and our orders taken by a nice young lady with a warm and friendly manner. It wasn't busy at 6pm and room temp and ambience was good. It was raining and we are staying in the hotel and didn't particularly want to go out in rainy weather! I'm glad we didn't. I had the Chilean Sav Blanc which was light and lovely so I enjoyed another! My husband enjoyed his Peroni Beer . We shared a French Onion Soup and it was a generous portion so I'm glad we did share. It was very enjoyable and served a just the right temperature. I recommend it. My husband had the Taglioni Pasta with fish and cream bisque, which we both liked. I had the Halibut with Mustard Mash. The mash was really, really good - It was so smooth! The halibut was a little bit over but very tasty and I enjoyed it nevertheless. I'd order it again. Our meal with drinks and service was under £90, and we both agreed it was a pleasant experience overall I'm really glad we stayed in!

Cannot complain about food or service, very good. But we went to the bar after and I ordered two double whiskies. When they came, they barely covered the bottom of the glass. I spoke to the waiter who confirmed they were doubles. When I returned to my own hotel, I had a double there and saw it poured and it was huge in comparison, which confirmed to me I had been conned out of a lot of money. Not happy.

Booked a table as staying at the park plaza, for me, wife and 8 year old son. Booked a 6 o’clock sitting as it was early in the evening and from the moment we walked in, everything was brilliant. Clean, spacious for my pregnant wife, well suited music and lighting. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, left to enjoy food for an appropriate time. Service was timely without long waits. Très bon restaurant dans l'enceinte de l'hôtel Park Plaza, un peu chère pour la quantité mais de très bonne qualité. Les 4 cocktails ont fait largement monter la note donc attention à ne pas se laisser aller 😉. Went for the family of 4 package. Kids portions good, but it looked like they had scrimped on the adult main in order to make up money. Husbands main was so small it was like a starter so we had to send back and complain. They brought a bottle of wine without saying they didn't have the one ordered. Food took 45mins to come out. The opera cake was lovely and staff apologised for the wine error, and fixed issue with husbands meal quickly. Was expensive, overall.

We had a pre-theatre meal here as we were going to County Hall to see a play so didn't have a lot of time and only ate a main course each. Two of us had duck, one had chicken and one had lamb shank. We all agreed that the food was just OK - very average to be honest. The portion sizes were adequate but sides - like potatoes and veggies - weren't included with our duck meals and prices were high - to us - anyway, so the food was expensive. Drinks were also a bit high and when you added 12.5% service charge on top, the meal really did cost far too much. Service was very good, though we had to chase the waiter at the end to pay for our bill as we had to get to the play! The venue was very nice. Would we go again? No.

French brasserie style food in large hotel. Not too busy when we went at 6pm so a nice chilled dinner. Smoked salmon starter was very good. Dishes were suitably adjusted for gluten intolerance. Service polite and efficient.

Very efficient, staff very polite. The rooms were set out very nice, not a great deal of choice on menu. My Wife is unable to eat meat,garlic, or anything acidic so we have to go where their food can be cooked freshly cooked.

Convenient if staying in the hotel. Food was good but not fabulous. Would eat there again but with so many marvelous restaurants in London suggest you try to go out and about if you can.

Hired a private room back in 2020 for a wedding meal. Wedding was cancelled twice due to Covid but the Brasserie Joel went above & beyond to make our day special this year We pre booked our meals which were lovely & the staff decorated our table to give it that added extra appeal. There was no charge for the private area & we were waited on with no issues. The set meals were a reasonable price however the wines were quite expensive but being a wedding & being in London we expected this. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for a private function.

Staying at the Park Plaza and perfect for family of four with 2 children. Food delicious and great service

When we arrived, the member of staff at the entrance was very curt and unwelcoming. When I said we had a booking, she replied 'Name or anything?' in a sarcastic tone. The first two bottles of wine we ordered were not available, so we had to pay even more than we wanted for a similarly overpriced bottle. When I mentioned that I could not eat dairy foods, my main salmon dish consisted of a slab of salmon with a few greens (no mash or sauce.) So no substitutions were made, nor could I see any allowance made for any dietary requirements. We were very disappointed as we had been looking forward to a pleasant meal before our Christmas trip to the theatre. We ended up paying £50 a head for a very mediocre experience. On the plus side, our waitress was very pleasant.

Excellent service & wonderful staff. Horia and staff members went above and beyond for our evening dinner meal. We booked this resturant specifically for the bavette steak - the staff were attentive and kind enough to take note of our conversation during booking and saved the last steaks for the evening for our reservation. Cannot thank them enough! We look forward to visting again in the future.

This restaurant was even nicer than the photos on their website. The staff were also very friendly - there was no rush to be seated straight away; they didn’t mind our party of 10 having drinks at the bar for 30 minutes first, even though we’d booked the table for a specific time. The food was delicious; everyone enjoyed their own meal while having food envy at the same time! The waiting time was just right, and they didn’t pressure us to leave despite being the last ones left. A great experience, will definitely go again. 👍

The service was quick and the staff were very well mannered and helpful. I had to send my meal back, as the king prawns and scallops tasted really fishy, like frozen fish or fish going off. My husband said his lamb was lovely and the staff were quick to replace my meal with something else from the menu. I replaced it with the chicken, which was simple but tasty, probably would have expected something a little bit more special in a French restaurant of this type though. Still was expected to pay over a 12.5% tip though, even though we had received a substandard meal.

Food had absolutely no flavour, it tasted of water. Completely over priced. Needed to salt all the steaks. I ordered the côte de boeuf which was £33 and it was quite frankly the ugliest, least flavoursome steak I have ever come across in my life. Was absolutely terrible. Service was alright but they kept on asking us every 10 mins how everything was, which was frustrating. The wine menu was appalling and the wine by the glass had no information and was a poor selection. The tables were too high in ratio to the sofa and the restaurant itself was far too dark and had a weird red lighting. Would not recommend !!!

We ate here with our 8 year old Granddaughter who needs Gluten free food. To be charged extra to provide this, I find rather disgusting. Although the steak she had was cooked well, the pasta dishes chosen by my wife and myself were totally unacceptable, full of empty seafood shells, mostly broken. Would not reccommend this restaurant when dining in London.
