Brasserie Blanc in Oxford

Very relaxed atmosphere but really lovely and well executed food. Great for a night out with friends.

We were in Oxford's lovely Jericho area seeing a film at the Phoenix Picturehouse Cinema. Just up the road from the cinema is the excellent Brasserie Blanc restaurant - ideal for lunch after a good film. We had a delightful lunch: just one course and some wine. Delicious food and wine and perfect service, in this smart, atmospheric restaurant. Very nice indeed! I had: - Braised Squid, Chorizo & Chickpea Stew with grilled courgette, saffron rouille, baguette Perfectly tender squid, nicely spicy and a bit smoky. Really lovely! I took my mom and daughter for mother's day. When we were seated they said they were giving all mothers some rose Prosecco and I nodded in agreement - assuming it was free. When they gave us the bill I was surprised to see that they charged £7 per small glass. I was disappointed and felt deceived. I would've said something but did not want to get into an awkward discussion in front of my mum on mother's day.

Hearty Compliments to the Chefs and kitchen team for the very good food we got to enjoy last Sunday eve. We were there from our usual area in Cowley to celebrate passing of final exams. Highly recommend the Fowey Moules starter or Fish soup starter. Also the Stone Bass - perfectly seasoned and cooked. My daughter very much enjoyed her Lamb and Jerusalem artichoke purée. Desserts perfectly French! Thanks also to the friendly service from front of house including our nice Food Runner 😊

We booked a table for my auntie Madeline, she had traveled from Ireland for her 80th birthday, to see her sister (our mum) and I cannot say thank you enough, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was delightful, all staff members were so helpful, from the time we arrived to the time we left, they made sure my auntie got to the door safely. There was a chap called Julian, I belive was the manager (I specifically asked for his name) as he made the whole experience totally amazing, himself and his team went above and beyond, to make sure we had the best evening, everyone should have a Julian as a staff member, he really made our experience wonderful, thank you Julian.

Most delicious, I will go back to eat.

We arrived for Sunday and greeted upon entering. The ambience was great and when full we were still able to hold a conversation without being bothered by any background noise. Service was excellent and choices of food and drink easily enough to cater for our varied dietary requirements and allergies. The quality of the food was excellent as was the quantity - we will be back.

The selection of gluten and dairy free savoury options was okay, but what really hit the ball out of the park was the gluten and dairy free crumble *chef’s kiss*

A warm and welcoming french restaurant in Jericho. We went for our valentines meal and had the herby gnocchi and toulouse sausages from the winter menu. The pistachio soufflé was lovely. I would highly recommend coming here.

Perhaps my worst ever dining experience ever in all my born days. Having booked here for me and my partner's anniversary, we arrived and our table was just being laid. From there it was downhill fast. No olives, I understand, they ran out of appetizers meh, I can deal with. Ordered a bottle if fizz, our starters and mains, chilled out with high expectations on a fantastic afternoon about in Oxford ahead having driven up from Somerset... Starters arrived, my risotto and partner had the crab cakes, it was okay. Just ok. When our mains arrived I was asked if I wanted ketchup with my Stonebass! I can only assume they were joking. It came across as them judging me as to someone who wasn't of a class to eat in their restaurant... The Mrs had the gnocchi, some were piping hot, some stone cold, missing the artichoke, I pointed this out to our waiter, who didn't apologise, just told us sometimes mistakes were made. Fine, yes they are, but can you remedy those mistakes? No. He doesn't get paid enough to deal with dissatisfied customers...the rant ensued with him telling us it wasn't his fault, we should just eat what we were given mumblings and grumblings, others got involved, my mood fast went downhill. Unhappy I asked to talk to a manager, Sami the managers de-escalation was fine professional and acceptable. But it should never have got to this stage. I will never return. I will tell all I know never to waste their money. This is the kind of experience you see on movies. On kitchen nightmares. It was a nightmare.

This place reminds me of cafe rouge.. on a bad day. Grumpy service, dishes served with components missing and temperatures varying from scalding to cold in the same dish. I was quite taken aback by how awful it all was.

The lamb was seriously delicious, friendly staff prices are fair. Will definitely be back

Excellent, perfectly cooked food. Great cocktail. Good service and knowledge of the menu. A really good place to eat in Oxford. Busy, buzzing, and therefore slightly noisy as not many soft furnishings around to muffle the sound - but that is a minor point. Higher end menu so higher end prices but definitely worth it for a dependable real treat.

Excellent as always. This is the most reliable dining spot in Oxford. Maybe short of the bells and whistles of other places that promise so much. They always deliver here at BB. The value is exceptional for the quality of food. Great staff and service. Never disappointed. I’ve seen Raymond in here a number of times too, he obviously really cares for his establishments and the quality of their offer. Just a shame the Bougouignon has gone!

We went this evening with our little girl. The service was impeccable and they were so good with our 6 year old. Menu was great and food absolutely delicious. Really special place.

Visited at very busy new year eve , was very impressed. Food was beautifully presented and all delicious. We each had 3 courses and were not disappointed at all. Service was warm and efficient. Love the fact the gentleman who took our orders remember exactly who ordered what. Will definitely be back.

This is quite likely the most welcoming restaurant I've ever entered. The food is elite. I had the pork that fell apart from just my fork touching it. It was incredible. The presentation, taste, professinally polite service, and speed of service were all 5 star. We actually only happened to come across this restaurant in passing. Brasserie Blanc is certainly an elite restaurant in all categories.

Christmas Eve meal was delightful. Slow cooked beef - out of this world. Staff worked really hard and attentively, while serving many tables, some with groups. Everything was just right. Thank you Raymond Blanc Oxford team!

This was probably one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in a long time, especially since covid times as such a lot of good restaurants have closed down. The food was amazing. I chose the cheese souffle for my starter, and it didn't disappoint very light and full of flavour. We shared the Chateaubriand for the main course, and it was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The waitress was very friendly and attentive and a credit to the restaurant, which is another rare thing since covid as most places the staff don't seem to care anymore. It was quite expensive but worth every penny for the quality and service offered. On our second night in Oxford, we went to a well-known chain restaurant. The meal cost about half the amount, but the food and service were awful no comparison whatsoever which for me proved you get what you pay for.

Excellent place in Oxford, the food isn’t particularly to my personal tastes but it was all done very well and had reasonable vegetarian options as well. Very friendly and accommodating staff and a nice atmosphere; quite loud whilst we where there although it may have just been a busier service than usual. They seemed to have a good selection of wines and alcoholic drinks although I don’t personally drink so I can’t say much about that. Reasonably priced if slightly expensive at around £30-50 per person depending on the order, service was slightly longer than usual but nothing inconvenient. Overall I would definitely recommend this place if looking for french-style food in Oxford.

Had gone for a christmas party yesterday. The food was good But the staff wasn't nice , they made me pay a deposit and they made me pay the whole bill and were rude. The staff being impolite is the major reason for this bad review

Had a lovely evening but sadly it’s the second time I’ve been where the food (the food at a Blanc restaurant!!) has been disappointing. I chose the Turkey for a Christmas party menu. I mean how hard can doing a nice Turkey Christmas dinner be? The sprouts were like bullets, the potatoes were not cooked and were lightly roasted al dente (slightly raw) new potatoes. The Turkey was over cooked and dry and the “stuffing” was tasteless. And no pigs in a blanket!! All the veg were just plain i.e. boring. Everyone else’s look pretty nice so I chose wrong but it was pretty poor (one or two others who also had Turkey felt the same). I wasn’t overly impressed with the crème brûlée either I’m afraid - it was a bit jellyfied and more like blanc-mange - but maybe I was already a bit deflated too.

Loved it so much that we went back a week later for more! Highly recommend the squid, chorizo and chickpea stew. Baguette and dips as a starter were polished off very fast too! Food was lovely and came pretty quickly despite the busy Christmas period. Great staff made us feel very welcome. Really nice ambience. Will aim to go back again soon

It makes absolutely no sense why this place is rated so high. It is at best as good as your average college hall dinner: food incredibly bland, not authentic French, bad selection, uncreative. The service was beyond horrible, slow, “dead” and unfriendly and inattentive. The atmosphere might be nice in the front, but the back gives cafeteria vibes with sloppy decorations and pop music in the background. Another big chain restaurant in Oxford that just does not understand proper dining. Go to Pierre Victoire instead, and go will be even cheaper off. This place is a disgrace to carry thr name of Raymond Blanc.

Ok, I only gave it 3 stars but I liked it and would go again. This is the funny part. We were celebrating my sister’s birthday and they handed her a glass of Prosecco that we hadn’t ordered. We assumed it was complimentary until they charged us for it when presenting the bill. Food was good. Service was extremely slow. Don’t go if you’re not prepared to wait a long time for your food.

Really enjoyed our family lunch time a la carte meal . The pork was excellent, as were the cheese souffle starters, all the cocktails we had and the desserts. Staff are friendly and efficient there is also a good and wide selection of wines that are reasonably priced. . A touch noisy but it was a busy Saturday. Thoroughly enjoyed our second visit.

First visit, the menu was nicely balanced. On this occassion i started with a ham terrine then followed with the roasted pork and it was delicious. Could n't fault the meal or service. Definately gets 2 thumbs for a return visit.

Went on a Saturday evening and the place was empty except what seemed to be a few regulars. The food was excellent as should be expected with Raymond Blanc's name on the establishment. The staff were very welcoming. No complaints, I'll be back again next time I am in Oxford.

A great modern British restaurant in the centre of Jericho. Their food is amazing. Very friendly service. Decoration is modern and relaxing. Dishes are a bit expensive, but you do feel money well spent. Great for special dining out occasions.

Perfect lunch for us. The portions were generous but not too much, we had excellent wine, the food was delicious. Thank you for the great service as well.we had a great time.the restaurants seems small from the outside but it is very spacious inside and nicely decorated. There is a disabled access and a disabled toilet available. However if we could have share a comment it would be to redo the disabled toilet that are not very great right now

Lovely place. It was just a shame the dessert took an hour to arrive due to a kitchen nightmare.

Very impressed with the service, the food was delicious, the suggested wine pairing for the meal was absolutely spot on, and it was good value too.

Overall a good lunch. My cauliflower steak was overdone and a bit mushy. My wifes trout was very good. The place was looking tired, especially downstairs. Wont be back. Sorry Raymond.

Wonderful modern French cuisine at a reasonable price.

Been here several times over the years with family . Food always tasted good and well presented. Staff always very friendly and helpful. Good place to take friends and family on special occasions as food never failed to satisfy. Gave 3 star for atmosphere because can be quite noisy if overcrowded and you can’t hear each other’s conversation very well especially for someone with bad hearing. Another thing is, very hard to get free parking space and parking is quite expensive in Oxford on the whole. The nearest cheaper parking is further down the road if you don’t mind a 15 to 20 minutes walk depending on your fitness. At the moment it cost about £2.70 for 3 hrs which is an amazing price for Oxford and it is located at the entrance to Port Meadow which is a lovely place to go for a walk after your lunch by the river side. I do recommend this restaurant and will continue to take my family and guest there without any worry as I can guarantee they will enjoy the meal without a doubt.

Everything was excellent - food, service, location I picked a pants French Malbec but I put that on myself. We had the beef and the lamb and both were rich and full of flavour, some friends had dessert as well and the lemon tart was so light

Alway nice and good service. Cheese soufflé is incredible. It's the best place on Walton Street and always consistent. A place where service and patrons are still valued. I always leave happy. Not a millennial in sight.

Good venue for a team lunch. We did go at 3pm so the restaurant was quiet and could easily accommodate our numbers so service was attentive and food came out fast.

My son, his girlfriend and I had a delightful and delicious Sunday lunch experience a few days ago. The cheese soufflés were exquisite and the cauliflower steak mains were excellent combining a range of flavours and textures - recommended. Too full for desserts, so a definite next time hopefully. Thank you to the lovely staff also, who made our visit so lovely.

I apologize if my perception of the food, service & atmosphere have been tainted by the interaction towards the end of the meal. When the bill arrived we placed the cash on the bill (£80.04, exact money - actually bill was £80.03) and continued chatting. When the waitress came over she informed us that they didn't take cash (no signs) - I did not have my card on me as we'd popped out quite spontaneously. I apologized & pointed out it was the exact money, so we didn't require change - the manager (the waitress had fetched him) just took the money quite rudely & walked off without saying anything. We carried on our conversation for a further 10min or so & then got up to leave - the manager appeared to be in a sulk & completely ignoring us, not making eye-contact or coming over. Bad vibe to end of evening, bit of a shame 😕

Dining at BB was like a good old fashioned dining experience. So many restaurants now don’t care about customer service but BB had it all. Great food, atmosphere and excellent staff. We’ll definitely be back!

Food and service is very nice. The sausage salad was amazing! When paying extra to add bacon to the burger, you’d expect more than 1 small strip. They said that is normal but were nice enough to bring some more on a side plate.

Interesting menu with some excellent and imaginative vegetarian options. It's real food, well cooked and very tasty. The prices are fairly high but it still seems good value because it's so good. Thoroughly recommended!
