Well what can I say we arrived we did not feel welcomed told we had to pay £5 parking a night hotel decor a bit tied but the room clean . we were going to leave tomorrow and lose the money for the second nights stay but after dinner in the restaurant and talking to Sydney and Scott they changed our option of the hotel we felt welcomed. We are not leaving tomorrow and we are going to have dinner in the hotel tomorrow night again. And this is all down to Sydney and Scott. If Sydney had been the person on reception we might have felt more welcomed

Stayed for Business. Room and facilities were good. Reception very good. Went for food. Menu limited and certainly no provision for special diet. Did ask but member of staff abruptly advised only one menu. Very disappointing in 2020 that diversity not considered and accommodatedfor in a city centre. Young girl working on shift had a much nicer manner. Did not bother with breakfast regardless that it was paid for. Need to update training and knowledge on allergies. Shame nice location and hotel much improved. Food was also Very Expensive ...

I ate here whilst staying at the hotel on business. The food itself (sweet chilli chicken stir fry) was very good, however, I felt it was quite expensive for what it was. There is a good range of food on offer and I would likely eat here if I was staying at the hotel again.

Nice food poor service. We had moved or booking from the Saturday to the Friday but When we arrived and gave our name we were not on the list we were asked if we were sure we booked it under smith or if we booked using a friends name and to check the screen to see if we can recognise an name at this we refused and stated we only book using our name. I assume that it was the manager who came over and looked at the Saturday saw that the booking had not been moved then saw us to one of the empty tables. The setting is nice as is the food but we had finished our starter before our drinks arrived. Possibly it was under staffed on Friday but not what I would have expected.

My Aunt and Uncle were staying at the hotel for two nights, whilst traveling up from Leicestershire prior to heading up to North Uist. They invited my Mum and myself for dinner at the hotel. The hotel offers A La Carte, as well as two special set menus. One menu is available between 1700-1900, whilst the other runs all evening. We all opted for the all night option. My Mum and Uncle opted for the Scotch Broth, whilst my Aunt and myself opted for the Duck with Chinese dressing. The starters were great, but my Aunt was miffed that my Uncle thought that the soup was better than her's!! For our main course, my Aunt and Uncle chose the Three Fish main, my Mum had the Chicken with mushroom sauce, whilst I had the Penne Ariabatta, which had a real kick. Everybody cleared their plates, except my Mum, who left some, as she said her portion was too big!! For dessert, my Uncle and I had the Bakewell Tart with Honeycomb Ice-cream. My Aunt had the Treacle Tart with Vanilla Ice-cream. My Mum didn't have any, as her main course had filled her up too much!! All in, the food was delicious, and the service was great. I would thoroughly recommend visiting here, and I will be back as Arnie would say!!

I had Haggis, neeps ‘n’ tatties, Drambuie sauce for my starter and is was really lovely. For my main course I had Rosemary and garlic chicken supreme, Lyonnaise potatoes, asparagus, carrots, Drambuie cream sauce and it was excellent. My father had Pan roasted duck breast, cider fondant potato, braised red cabbage, green beans, raspberry jus and my sister had Beetroot and ricotta tortellini, goats cheese, rosemary cream sauce, parmesan, garlic ciabatta . They both really enjoyed their mains as well.

I was locked out of the house and so stopped here to grab a small snack while I waited. The general welcome wasn't very friendly but when the girl came to take my order she was very pleasant. I ordered the aubergine and pearl cous cous dish and a portion of fries. The aubergine dish was probably the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten, it was sailing in about 2cm of cooking oil which says a lot since it usually absorbs oil so this was all surplus to the already saturated aubergine slices, the cous cous was starchy and had no flavour, the smoked creme fraiche stuff was the only interesting thing on the plate. The skinny chips also weren't nice, they had no taste of potato whatsoever. The young girl who came to clear my plate (I think Nicole?) had been over previously and had very little customer service skills or manners. At first this did not bother me as I thought she had probably just started as she obviously had no experience. When she took my plate there was no verbal interaction at all so I offered an explanation as to why I had not eaten the aubergine to which she responded 'eh no bother then' before walking off. I then saw her in the reflexion of the window go to the supervisor and start talking about me in a way that obviously was not pleasant. 20 minutes later I had to wave someone over to ask for the bill and the supervisor to highlight this really unpleasant experience, the incompetence and rude manner of this girl. The supervisor was very apologetic and took the dish off my bill. Although the dish was disgusting, it was the poor customer service that really ruined my visit. I feel there is no excuse for staff to act this way, after working years in hospitality this is simply unacceptable.

I discovered this offer on 5pm which was for two courses from the a la carte menu and a free bottle of wine. Too good to resist. The menu is good and there is a good choice. I had the roasted goats cheese to start and the salmon with Chinese veg. Loads of veg as it turned out and soya sauce too. It was very nice but I could not eat all the veg. The fella loved his bacon steak and mash and scoffed the lot. The hotel is in the West End next to Gartnaval Hospital. Unfortunately when our bill arrived the wine had been included but this was sorted quickly.

The invitation to sit at a table was more of an instruction. The order request was quite specially given yet lukewarm tea arrived before the food. When the food arrived it had the same temperature as the tea! The food order was incomplete; the doorstep sandwiches totally uninspired and totally unappealing. The management response was to infer the order had been delivered as requested, inferring the customer was mistaken. This location probably benefits for its proximity to a general hospital but is definitely to be avoided

I went to the Pond for a random Saturday night dinner out, and was overjoyed at the whole experience. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere for a Saturday night. I never felt rushed in or out as I often do on busy Saturday nights at restaurants. Although it was busy the staff were all very attentive and nice. The waiter we had was really friendly and helpful. The food was brilliant. We ordered steak, which was cooked to perfection. I asked the waiter if it was possible to have mushrooms as a side with my steak. When the dish came there were no mushrooms, but in no time at all the lovely manageress appeared with a mushroom side dish for us, free of charge. She was brilliant, attentive and on the ball, and made sure that the entire evening was very enjoyable for us. Top marks for the lady in charge. The service, atmosphere and the food was the best I've had on a night in a long time.

I was "treated" to afternoon tea at the Pond Hotel for my birthday. Most disappointed! My friend has food allergies and asked for plain ham and plain cheese sandwiches - they came with pickle and chutney on - when she asked again for a PLAIN sandwich they sent out 2 slices of white bread, no butter or spread, containing a slice of cheap wafer thin ham! Not really what you would expect for £7.95 a head! 2 scones on the tray with a little pot of cream, but no butter or jam! When we asked for some jam, the attitude of the waitress left a lot to be desired! After complaining, the hotel did only charge us for one afternoon tea, but I would definitely give this one a miss!

Booked the Brasserie for my mum's 80th. When we walked in for our booking, we were directed to a tatty bar area. Two staff were on their hands and knees scrubbing the carpet. No other staff around but the person on reception. When we said we were booked for the brasserie for lunch, he summoned one of the staff and she came over and directed us again to the bar area and the bar menu. We said we had booked the Brasserie as it was an occasion and were informed the Brasserie didn't open until 5pm! Considering we'd booked specifically for the Brasserie, this was news to us.As it was a special occasion, we had to go elsewhere (the Grosvenor Hotel) which was superior in every way, with staff who were excellent and actually cared. The Pond needs to get better staff and stop mis-advertising its restaurant which is a tatty bar with a raised platform and loud supermarket music. Wetherspoons is more upmarket than this place...poor in ever way with shocking customer service. Will never consider going to the Pond again,

My friend and I met on Monday 13th October 14 at the Pond Hotel for lunch. There were plenty of tables to choose from and the service was good. The menu was alright. There were no afternoon tea offers or sandwiches. We both had thin steak on a warm Italian roll with pesto, served with chips on the side. This was tasty and the chips were very nice. We were both disappointed with the cakes. No cakes or scones are made fresh at the hotel and they are of the mass produced type, not home made. The carrot cake we had tasted bland and was synthetic, absolutely not worth the money charged. A pastry was £3.50p and was nothing special. The coffee was good. The pot of tea was horrible, a very fusty stale taste, this was willingly replaced when I complained and I was offered an explanation -the water in the urn had not yet been changed! What a shame they don't use fresh boiled water for the tea..We thought the prices for soft drinks and bottled water were over the top.The place was not busy and no one pushed us to move along. It's quite a good place in that respect if you want to sit with friends for a good lengthy catch up chat. The staff serving were pleasant and attentive.

I visited the Pond today to have a coffee, while my wife was doing some work in a nearby hospital, never one to miss a scone with cream I saw the offer for afternoon tea for £7.95 of sandwiches, scone and cream plus cakes. I settled down after making my ordered to phone a friend but was then staggered with what came next, three tiers of sandwiches, scone and cream plus lots of cakes. With a second coffee I was still not able to polish it all off and the staff suggested they could wrap the cakes left. My only slight gripe concerning the pond is that they said that my receipt would entitle me to free parking, which the parking guy disputed.Apart from that I had a lovely afternoon tea with great service.
