Brambles Seafood + Grill in North Ayrshire

A visit to Brambles that did not disappoint, drinks outside on their terrace in the blistering sunshine is just what’s needed after a busy day before stepping inside to have a wonderful dining experience! Would like to say a very big well done to the staff who looked after us; Duncan, Blair & Ashley! It cannot be easy working in such a busy restaurant, ensuring social distancing is adhered to while also making sure that each guest has a great experience! We will definitely visit again ! Thank you!

We visited here yesterday evening , and were very impressed by the arrangements in place to deal with the epidemic. The screens are well designed and don't look out of place or institutional . We were greeted warmly and although a bit earlier than booked, were shown to our table which had just been sanitised . Cutlery and condiments were brought to the table on a tray and we were able to arrange them ourselves. The wine was brought on a tray as well ,unopened and we opened it and poured for ourselves. Good thinking by the folks in charge! The menu has changed a bit since we were last here, not such a big choice as before, but very good quality and generous proportions. Service was quiet and very efficient, we were not rushed to have our meal, and left having had a very pleasant evening. Our only complaint was that the last bus home had been cancelled and we had to walk!!!!! (Nothing to do with Auchrannie though!!)

They take Covid precautions very seriously, haven’t been anywhere that’s beat them on that front. Plenty of space between tables and also dog friendly.Food was fine - but I’d return more for the comfort.

Ate here on the first night of our stay and thoroughly enjoyed our meal, Jodie our server was pretty friendly and attentive, quite with it. Good eating. Mussels in beer and mustard, Awesome!

For my recent trip to the Auchrannie my partner and myself had both breakfast and dinner both days at this restaurant and we both agreed that we could not fault the food at all. Was top quality food and really decent portion sizes. My partners only criticism was that we wanted more of the full Scottish breakfast as it was so good and could’ve eaten double the amount. 10/10

The restaurant looks good inside and the food was nicely cooked. I had the monkfish curry and my only real complaint would be I like my curries a bit spicier. Although we did enjoy our meal, had this been my first post lockdown experience it would have put me off dining outService was friendly enough for the most part but the restaurant takes it covid restrictions very seriously and can sometimes be a bit off-putting how they get their message across. you don't even get asked if you would like to taste your wine, the tray of drinks is just put on your table and you are told to pour them yourself. There is a requirement to wear face masks everywhere except while sitting at your table and depending what time you book, you may be restricted to a 70 minute slot.

We booked to eat here and knew that there may be a 90 minute limit on it, when we turned up we were told we had to be out no longer than 70 minutes! Why not tell the next person that it wouldn't be available till 7.30pm?! So from the second we sat down we felt like we were on the clock. We decided to just go for a main course, I had the beetroot and ricotta tart, which was actually a slice of tart. Fortunately we had ordered an extra side of roasted cauliflower which was the difference of the dish being bland and being tasty - cost £5.95 for a small side dish.We wanted to share a dessert and when we asked to wait 10 minutes before this was served, to let our mains settle in our stomach, we were met with a glance albeit subtle, of the watch. I actually felt sorry for the wait staff being under the cosh like this.We actually wanted to have a relaxing 2nd drink but decided not to bother and left. Over £60, not worth it.

Brambles has always been a favourite of ours and is coping well in the current crisis.The only criticism we would have is allowing dogs into the restaurant during meals, chaos sometimes erupts if the canines are upset. The hotel is dog friendly which is not a problem but please use common sense.

Dropped into the Auchrannie Hotel. Wife and I and two friends had a nice lunch in the Brambles Restraurant. Made most welcome

First night on Auchrannie dined here great surroundings pleasant staff good menu, we opted for 2 steaks sirloin and rib eye very nice well seasoned steaks very impressed with in hurried service

Ate here on the second night of our stay at Auchrannie and did not disappoint. We only had mains & deserts. My wife had the chicken dish with black pudding dauphinoise followed by the chocolate & ginger tart & I had the rib eye steak followed by sticky toffee pudding. Only moan was the size of the chocolate tart it would not have looked out of place in a dolls house restaurant and the severe lack of ginger & rum soaked raspberries.

From someone outside the resort it was interesting to pop in and experience the range of sea food particularly. Obviously it seemed most people were staying in the resort.

We had a lovely evening meal. The mussels were cooked perfectly and it was a generous portion. We all really enjoyed them. Excellent service.

Well, sea food and good wine list. Go easy though. Portions are very ample, so do not order a five course meal here without consulting the staff. I'd go back here time after time.

Came here with my 5 friends as celebrating 30 yrs of friendship an qualified as nurses ...we were staying at lodges on auchrannie ....the atmosphere was relaxed although place very busy 8pm on a saturday night ..service excellent the "banter"with the manager he has wicked sense of humour ad the young staff made the night complete ...2 of our table had the starters of mussels and what a portion they had ENORMOUS am glad i didnt get them as wdnt have been able to finish my deliscious steak done to perfection ...great value fr money due to portion size quality of food ..made a perfect ending to a fantastic trip to auchrannie

We had a very good evening meal enjoying some local produce including Scottish beef , mussels and icecream which were all very good! The staff were most helpful in regard to Coeliac advice which was quickly and correctly sourced from the chef!

This was a good recommendation from a local. A very pleasant, nicely furnished and decorated room which offered us the distinct advantage that it was a dog friendly area of the restaurant. Notwithstanding that we were separated from the main restaurant, the service was attentive and the food and wines well received. We would definitely return to investigate the menu further.

We were on Arran for a week recently and this restaurant served the tastiest and freshest food we had all week. The service wasn't too bad and the decor and ambiance is lovely but what really stood out was the food. Everybody at the table enjoyed their meal and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

We stayed in the house hotel rather than the Spa resort. Whilst our stay was very nice we disappointed in the breakfast one morning, other mornings was ok. We decided to eat dinner in other building as it seemed to have more choice.

Knowing a group of vegans was coming to stay at their hotel, the chefs came up with some delicious menus

Had dinner and breakfast here this week...the breakfast choice, ingredients and cooked all to perfection. The veggie breakfast was outstanding. As a veggie my friends get anxious re chives and this often determines where we choose to have dinner. The ambience and atmosphere in Brambles was great and the staff were welcoming and knowledgable....the veggie choice sounded ok...but the Moroccan dish had wonderful flavours but the tofu was not for me...a bit more choice or flexibility would make this restaurant perfect

We ate here while staying in the attached hotel. Wonderful service and the food was excellent.

This is part of the larger hotel and spa complex set in large and pretty gardens. High standards of service and quality food served here. The staff are polite friendly courteous and helpful. Food is prepared and presented to a high standard. This restaurant is considerably pricier than many on the island

Visited twice whilst staying in one of the Lodges. Convenient. Nice decor and service good. Meals were very good. Just felt the prices were rather high especially for steak.

Excellent food, great staff, very helpful and lovely place to sit and chill. Very kid friendly and it was great to be served by all Scottish Staff.

We were staying at Auchrannie and only tried this place on the last night - a shame as it was very good. Decent menu and a specials board. Food excellent and service too. Quiter than Cruize.

Nicely decorated restaurant on a resort. Unfortunately our starter was very slow in arriving, but they sorted it out as quickly as they could and the food was very good when it arrived.

Efficient service but average food - the steak was under done, there were no peas with the battered haddock and a tasteless tiramisu. The restaurant is a big open room making it very noisy but is nicely furnished. Signage in the entrance of the building could be improved - we weren’t staying at the Auchrannie resort and had to go into the 1869 restaurant to ask for directions. Unfortunately we wouldn’t rush back.

Our first visit to Arran & we stayed at the resort. It’s a nicely decorated restaurant but everything else was a disappointment. The service was poor and the food (starter & main) was tasteless. Although the menu was appealing, the food did not deliver at all. We did not risk ordering dessert and ordered two decaffeinated cappuccinos instead. Sadly, the restaurant couldn’t make two cup of decent coffees either.

What an enormous letdown our dinner at Brambles turned out to be. Firstly, it must be stressed that the service and ambience was top-notch. But the food - both in presentation and quality - was very poor fare.

Four of us went to Brambles on Sunday to celebrate a special birthday. We were greeted in an offhand manner before being seated at a table against a fire escape, which was fine apart from when the waitress kept reaching across my husband to serve me my food. Overall, the service was poor and inappropriate ( massaging shoulders!? ). Before ordering, one of our friends tried to ask about the menu and the waiter cut across him 3 times. I ordered a glass of Malbec for the main course and when it never appeared, I asked if it was on its way, having nearly finished the steak I wanted to drink it with, only to be told they were out of that wine! Really, you weren't going to tell me? I can honestly say that's a first.

Food was very good and there was a good choice. Atmosphere was very relaxing and staff were very nice. Much better than Cruize at Auchrannie

Food read much better than it tasted! Felt rushed because we had booked for quite a late sitting! The batter on our fish was inedible because it was thick and soft and the chips were greasy and soft also! Maybe cooking oil not hot enough?? I did point out to the waitress why I hadn’t eaten it and she agreed it wasn’t crispy and that was all that was said! Very disappointing

We had evening meal there. Food and service were excellent with a good range on the menu. Good to see emphasis on local products.

The staff are lovely friendly professional people who make this place, however the food is not tasty, I wished I had not paid for dinner b & b. There are 3 restaurants to choose from sadly food not wonderfull in any. I would loike to say we had ribeye on last night and it was really delicious, phew thank goodness.

We had dinner at Brambles and everything was top quality. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We also had breakfast and again everything was delicious. I highly recommend eating there when in Brodick.

I am afraid I was disappointed with the food. I had a fish and pasta. Small portion of fish was good but the spaghetti was really tasteless. I think it was overpriced altogether even if it was a pleasant atmosphere and service ok.

Heartily recommend eating here whether staying at the hotel or just passing by. They seem to be going for a winebar feel with an interesting selection and lots of delicious food choices. I had feared it would be burgers and fried things, but was pleasantly surprised by the range of seafood and local produce. I had stonebass with spagetti and crayfish, with a td too much smaphyre for comfort. This was fresh and tasty. He had crab chowder which was creamy and served with nice sourdough bread, followed by smoked mackerel with potato salad , pickles and a side salad. All in all a very good and reasonably priced affair.

We visited on Friday night. Restaurant was busy with a nice buzz but not overcrowded. Nice wine list, slightly on the expensive side with the cheapest around £20. We ordered the Malbec, which i would highly recommend.

My girlfriend and I just visited Brambles Restaurant and were wholly underwhelmed with the experience.

We visited Brambles twice during our visit to Auchrannie and enjoyed both meals.,The fish was cooked to perfection ! My only criticism is that it was a bit too expensive

We’ve just visited for the first time and will definitely be back. Why ? Well to begin with the service was the best we’ve experienced anywhere in the world. From the warm welcome, to the attentive but unobtrusive performance of the waitresses - we got iced water immediately and top ups throughout the meal without having to ask, time to study the food and wine menus without feeling abandoned, and prompt service of our food without feeling rushed.

We had booked and arrived a little early which was no problem. Staff were very helpful, polite and cheerful. The food was delicious ( I would highly recommend the oysters) and overall, a very pleasant experience in a lovely restaurant.

We dropped by here for dinner at 8:05 and the restaurant was 2/3 full, with plenty of tables available. We waited to be seated, at which point one of the waitresses asked if we had a reservation and when we said no she looked like she's seen a ghost. She told us that they were fully booked but could get us a table at 8:15. Now it was absolutely clear that's not true since I could see plenty of tables empty behind her. These were separated as well hence no chance of a group booking so we knew clearly that was a lie but we played along. We figured we might as well wait 10 minutes but to our surprise she then just left, leaving us twiddling our fingers in the hallway.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant and spot on service to match. Food was well presented and well cooked. Can’t really fault the place at all.

Really lovely restaurant as part of Auchrannie,Manager was very friendly and welcoming.Nice clean modern cosy decor.Good selection on the menu.The prawn tacos were so fresh and tasty,the pork belly was delicious.Being picky,we were seated and not offered or poured water,this seemed to be the process for all other tables around us so I think we were missed.The “lobster” with the pork belly was a prawn.Personal preference,we always enjoy a nibble of some bread whilst browsing the menu.All in all a good meal and we would return.

Had dinner while staying at Auchrannie and the food is ace. I am not much of a seafood fan though I am sure it is great. However I had ribeye steak that was tasty and cooked to perfection. Our starters and desserts were also great, would highly recommend

So we decided to try the seafood restaurant but I did find the menu quite limited. I love prawns but the only ones on the menu were a prawn tacos starter. I ended up having steak which was lovely but I would have loved a prawn or langoustine considering were in Scotland. The bramble cocktails were lovely. Biggest issue was that the restaurant was so hot we all ended up not feeling too good. My hisdand had to leave and go outside to cool down. The staff turned the radiators down but it was just far too warm inside. My husband had the curried cod special and liked it. The kids liked the pasta and the chicken goujons. Friendly servers and a nice environment (if kept at the right temperature, P.S. I am cold blooded and never too warm so it must have been extremely warm for me to notice!).

Popped in for a light lunch and was met by Peper, the Restaurant Manager, who was happy to help

We were staying with friends at Auchrannie and decided to eat in house. Restaurant was quiet so service was fairly quick.

The food is good as is service but for at least the last 10 years, there’s been no change in the menu. Only added ‘ specials’. Also, while supposed to be a seafood and grill, there’s very little actual seafood. Mussels are about the only fresh and the ‘ seafood platter’ was very disappointing. Needs Lobster, Crab and Scallops to be considered a real seafood restaurant

Fantastic food and service the whole ambiance was great . We stayed at the kinloch hotel on the other side of the island but was well worth the journey

Food was amazing, beautifully cooked and presented. If you wanted any changes made it was no problem. Staff very friendly and helpful.

On a rainy midweek afternoon, stopped in for a wee treat. Seated by the fire, it was lovely and warm. Our server was lovely, taking time to speak with my 3 year old, and giving us details of the scones on offer. We tried the plain, and apple and cinnamon. Both came with a large portion of clotted cream and jam, and butter was available if required. Scones were lovely and warm, and a good size. Coffees were lovely too. Pleasantly surprised at the bill when it came, and could have sat longer by the lovely fire.

Beautiful setting, decorated to a high standard. Even the cushions were beautifully “chopped”. Service was excellent, turn around time for food was very fast, and food was cooked perfectly! Best steak I’ve had! Will definitely return. Thank you

Booked a table at this Bistro, the service was superb, the staff not only attentive they made you feel special. The food was delicious all four meals were very tasty.

We love stay at Auchrannie but I wish the food options were better. I’ve eaten in brambles about a year ago and enjoyed it but unfortunately on our recent visit we had poor service. Clearly someone new learning the ropes but no one supporting her (and it wasn’t busy). Plates cleared whilst others at the table were still eating. Bill given before we finished eating pudding, amongst many, many other things. The kids meals were nice but I had mussels in tasteless sauce. I would have given feedback on my half eaten plate if asked but of course we weren’t! What’s more it’s not cheap, certainly not worth the money. Disappointed

Although we weren't staying in the complex, we decided to eat here on the last night of our holidays after reading the reviews. Staff were very friendly and welcoming from the moment we entered.

We weren't staying at the Auchrannie but Brambles was recommended to us by a friend who also loves seafood. We were not disappointed. I had the mussels in a white wine and garlic sauce for a starter and the portion was HUGE. They were delicious. My partner ordered the salt and chili octopus which we didn't love as it was served cold but still tasted OK. I then had the stone bass linguine and he had the pork belly with langoustine which were both fantastic. A bit more pricey but would definitely come back as a treat. All of the staff were super friendly and really made an effort to chat to you and make sure you enjoyed your meal.

We had to call ahead for reservations, and found the interior to be rather bright and modern at first, but most of the food was excellent. After being disappointed by the duck elsewhere on the island, I tried again and it was quite soft and succulent. My husband had the Brittish steak, and as a midwesterner, he found the thin steak to be too much like a Denny's steak - stay away. The sticky toffee pudding was delish, ask for extra sauce.

Would like to highly recommend this restaurant for its decor and the quality of its menu. I had the best belly pork ever !! On one side is a very chic and comfortable bar and seating area and behind a single door is the Teen Zone which our grandchildren really enjoyed with all games etc only £1 each !! I know only a pound !! Very busy restaurant so book early you won’t be disappointed!!

Having viewed the menu online prior to our holiday we were deterred somewhat by the price of the various courses but don’t be.

Being staying at Auchrannie for 3 nights and have ate at Brambles for the 3 nights. I love this restaurant. The staff are so welcoming and attentive and always remember you. The restaurant is so relaxing with comfy sofas for a pre dinner drink. The food is excellent and a few specials are on the board to chose from over and above the menu. The starters and main dishes are well presented and service is excellent. Staff are always on hand to make sure you have a lovely experience.

This was a family evening meal for six adults and two kids (7 & 10 years old) in this smart, informal restaurant.

Drove out here for tea. Lovely surroundings. Food was good and staff were good. Enjoyed our tea!! 😃

In einem Ressort gelegen, war das Restaurant von unserer Unterkunft aus zu Fuss erreichbar. Das Restaurant ist ziemlich gross und war bei unserem Besuch sehr gut gefüllt, vor allem von Feriengästen aus dem Ressort, wie uns schien. Ich habe den Fehler gemacht, zusätzlich zum Hauptgang noch ein Voressen zu nehmen. Die Muscheln waren ordentlich zubereitet und präsentiert, aber nichts Besonderes. Zum Hauptgang habe ich die grosse Fischplatte gewählt. Sie war wirklich gross, sodass ich nicht alles essen konnte. Allerdings war der kalte gekochte Lachs doch ziemlich trocken, und auch beim Rest lässt sich sagen, dass es ordentlich war, aber keine kulinarische Offenbarung.

Came with kids and grandkids as staying in a lodge for a Friday night dinner, after my birthday. Was really good - food, service, price, we really enjoyed as grandkids were also relaxed.

Having booked on line it took longer than it should have to find our booking. We ordered drinks on arrival and 20 minutes later we still hadn't been served. However the lady in charge knocked the price of the drinks off our bill.

It was my birthday (one with a zero at the end) and I took the family to Auchrannie to celebrate.

Really friendly staff and just the right level of attention. We had Cullen Skink which was creamy and lovely flavour - mouth burningly hot beware - and clever little BLT. For mains we had monkfish (£2.75 for sauce - really?) and fishcake (chunky and homemade). All in all excellent food and we had a really nice time. Recommended for a romantic meal for two!

Très très bon si vous voulez manger du poisson frais et local ! Nous y sommes venus 2 soirs de suite tant c’était délicieux et savoureux. Mention spéciale pour le plateau de la mer ainsi que le fameux « pâté de poisson ». L’endroit peut paraître un peu huppé à première vue, mais l’ambiance est plutôt conviviale et décontractée, beaucoup de familles et de gens de tous âges.

Great food and very good staff. Loved the atmosphere and would definitely recommend. We had young kids with us, but they sat quietly playing their tablets.

this place is in a big complex but eventually we found brambles.the sevice was good and the food was better so all good up to now.the doors were open as kids were playing in the garden and running in and out so it got quite chilly.a waiter closed the doors but the kids just opened it again.we asked for the bill which came promptly and I put my card on the table.i think there must have been someone famous in the corner as the two senior staff members were over talking with them for a long time.on a table near to us a young couple sat waiting for service and the lady was pregnant and obviously cold,no came near.we got up and went to the counter to get someone to accept payment.as we were going the young couple were being moved.

Breakfast needs variation, dinner meals are based on good variety in a relaxed atmosphere. Good wine list.

In the past nine years we’ve visited Brambles regularly! Every time the food has been good until our last visit. Soup, as a starter, has always been ingenious, sometimes quirky, but always delicious! Last visit the waiter said the soup was sweet potato with roasted garlic which we ordered. After a short time we were told the soup had been changed to chunky vegetable soup. What arrived looked like a defrosted catering pack of frozen vegetables in a very weak vegetable stock. While just palatable it was a major disappointment! It was the only time when the waiting staff didn’t ask us if everything was okay. It seemed as if they were embarrassed to have served it.

Really nice fishcakes here, loads of choice of great fish and also steals and lamb plus some veggie. We were pleased as had our dog and we were allowed to eat in a room next to the main place which was nice plus Hugo our dog got some treats :)

We've eaten at Brambles several times (in fact our sons wedding was there) and it's consistently great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This time we visited twice - both times for coffee and scones out on the sunny terrace. The scones are huge, warm and fresh, with a generous serving of cream and jam and they do a special price for coffee/scone. The white chocolate and raspberry is my husbands favourite, but I love the apple and cinnamon ones. Staff are always friendly.

Had breakfast here a couple of times and also dined here for dinner. Service was brilliant and food was superb. The staff were exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. Prices were good in my opinion, much likened to medium range restaurants on mainland. Overall a great experience and one day I hope to experience it again.
