There were four of us, two couples, looking forward to a great Saturday night meal out. However, our trip to Bradleigh's at the Lodge was we agreed on our return home, the worst we had encountered! We booked our table by telephone a couple of nights prior to our booking and were told that last orders for food was 8pm - which for us is a little early. However, on arrival at the Lodge we were disappointed to find that we were actually the only people waiting to dine. There was one other couple who were staying at the hotel who were just finishing their meal when we arrived. Therefore little in the way of ambiance. My friend could not find anything particularly to her liking on the starter menu and asked the waitress/barmaid (one and the same) if there was a possibility that she could have a fishcake on the main menu as a starter - response from chef was no as the fishcake was too large for a starter. We were shown through to the empty dining room which in décor was quite pleasing, just very quiet. The food arrived in good time but the two who had steak reported it to be a little tough. My meat lasagne could almost have passed as a vegetarian lasagne but the pork was reported to be good. One bugbear when ordering steak is to have to order sauces separately - the only sauce on offer was peppercorn at an additional £2.95. Sweets were equally average an uninspiring. Arriving home some time before 10pm we agreed that we had enjoyed some lovely evenings at the Lodge, this had not been one of them and are not inclined to visit again.

Neil, the manager, only thinks about money!Average 2 course meal for 4 people - one a child - and no alcoholic drinks - 90 quid.We have since enjoyed visiting other places for Sunday lunch at half the price for the same number of people. My parents had been coming here frequently before the death of my father and thought of it as a 'home from home' each Sunday. One of the first things Neil told my mum was that they 'do funeral teas' when we visited just after my dad's passing. This was highly insensitive and very business orientated. So much so, we'll never return. Never, ever again.

My partner and I came for a meal while we were debating the Hotel as a venue for our wedding. The hosts were attentive and and welcoming. They gave good suggestions abour the food on offer and we couldn't fault the service. The food is fresh and tasty, and they had no problems accommodating our requests. I have no objections in recommending the minted lamb burger, or the pie my partner had, we both really enjoyed our starters and our meals but left no room for a pudding. Next time we will make sure we leave some space. We enjoyed the service and food so much so that we booked our wedding here. Definitely recommend this place to all.

The Local WI held a combined farewell and celebratory lunch for its members. Everyone received a warm friendly welcome. The ambience and decor of the restaurant was very pleasing and spotlessly clean. The food was nicely served and the Welsh beef was delicious. The selection of vegetables were well chosen and most importantly, beautifully cooked, tender with a hint of crispness. Those who chose the homemade summer fruits trifle enjoyed a real treat. All in all what The Lodge offered made for a delightful occasion.

Relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Homemade broccoli and stilton soup followed by lamb that just melted in the mouth, my husband had the grilled plaice, a selection of fresh veg. Naughty but nice brandy basket to follow, delicious and very reasonably priced .Well worth a visit.

We stayed here on the Groupon deal which was excellent value - £89 for dinner, bed and breakfast. The food was ok but very overpriced and would have been disappointed it we had to pay the full price.

As I had booked a dinner bed and breakfast deal I chose from the deal menu which was extremely good value and nice selection of both starters and mains. My partner and I both had whitebait served with a very fresh salad to start followed by sirloin steaks...All cooked and served perfectly. Highly recommend this friendly restaurant.

2 of the main courses were unavailable. The vegetables for the lamb course were unavailable. Alternative vegetables were given which were undercooked and cold. Potato was tasteless and cold . Did mention it to waiter whose response was sorry. £24 for a piece of lamb is unacceptable as I didn't eat the vegetables or potatoes.

Excellent, Excellent festive lunch and looked after by the staff so well. Apparently we were their first festive lunch this year - well if that's the start don't know how they could improve - brilliant, thank you.
