Had a wonderful meal at Monks Lane on Friday 22nd of March. The atmosphere was amazing and the food was sublime. The staff couldn't do enough for us. A very memorable event. Thanks Gavin and his wonderful team ❤

We haven't been to Monk's Lane in a while it was absolutely fantastic the service was excellent and the food was excellent as always. 😍

We'd been before and enjoyed, but on 16.12.23 the evening was totally spoilt by a guy singing his version of old Beatles songs, too loud and not particularly well. Yes, I'd go again, but only if it was without the singing, couldn't get out of there fast enough! Food was good, service OK atmosphere ruined!

We went there last night, spontaneously taking advantage of their decision to open midweek on the run up to Christmas. Monk's Lane never disappoints! Excellent, friendly service, cosy atmosphere and a consistently scrumptious menu. I think it must be coming up to 10 years very soon, since Monk's Lane opened. The 10oz rare steak is a real Christmas treat, building myself up for turkey overload. A few nice glasses of wine and a cheese board to finish up. There's no better way to spend an evening with friends and family. Make your way to Timoleague for a real treat.

Unfortunately the monks were sleeping by the time we got there, but the food was great

Gavin and Michelle have created a beautiful restaurant and dining experience in a gorgeous setting. The food and atmosphere is divine and we would really recommend Monks Lane as a must-see destination for any foodies!

Its by divine intervention that we discovered this place. The owners are the nicest people with a team of chefs and staff who serve the most delicious flavour ensemble. Though am a vegetarian, they had ample to offer and honestly, their experiments with the ingredients would put most people to shame. A must go if you are visiting Cork, Ireland

The food from starters to deserts was absolutely fantastic. Steaks were cooked to perfection for both of us.I myself tried the Moroccan orange for desert also My wife loved the cocktails along the way. The staff were so pleasent and helpful. Overall brilliant in a lovely surrounding.

We dined at Monk's Lane today and when we arrived we discovered I had made the reservation for a week later by mistake! They very kindly squeezed us in on what was a very busy Sunday! The atmosphere is fabulous, the exterior and interior is so beautiful and cosy and the food reflects that. It's unpretentious, great quality food with great flavours. The staff are all very happy and helpful, it was just all round such a lovely experience. Thanks very much to Gavin and his team. Highly recommend.

What a gem of a restaurant...amazing food thst always beats expectations...tonight the food was flawless...standouts were the Mozzarella Burrata and the Monkfish....staff always warm and welcoming...beautiful setting...can't recommend enough

2023, food is totally overrated, staff excellent and decor excellent, you couldn't fault the friendly staff which go above and beyond for you and the decor is comfortable and homely, prices are way too expensive though for what your getting, just have plenty of money in your pocket going in there, can't understand why they don't have the classic home made vegetable soup included in the starter menu. Just in case you wanted something light before the main, the whole food setup wasn't to my liking at all and the prices again were too mad for the food your getting, it's a lovely place to check out if your in the area but I'll stick to cronins restaurant in killarney as my goto restaurant for traditional Irish food.

Lovely meal as always. Rebecca was lovely and attentive. Chicken dish was full of flavour as was the monk fish curry along with the cocktail.

As good a gastro-pub as you'll encounter in the world! If every village/town in Ireland had an equivalent we'd all be much better for it. Wine list was great. Food was not haute cuisine but well beyond the average. Imagine modern irish cooking that leaves you with a smile. Can not recommend enough.

We have never had anything other than 5 star service & food every time we go to Monks Lane. Every single dish I would happily have. And superb service every time. Absolutely fabulous all round.

Amazing food service and atmosphere

This place is over rated and over priced unfortunately food experience was not good. After looking at the reviews on Monk Lane, and people saying stuff like "must go for food lovers"... I think it's highly over rated, food is very average. We were 6 at a table, non of us we happy with the food, I could see a lot of stuff like the Pork belly was actually bought from Lidl because of taste and cut. Got a supposedly Spanish Lamb dish but it's was just mash potato and lamb stew, bland and very disappointing. ***Staff and service was good 👍🏼

It was a family celebration. An excellent choice. We ate food from a menu which had plenty to choose from. I loved the steak done to my liking. Wife had hake. I also had brownie. All 4 of us had food to our taste and were well satisfied.

My God. Genuinely the best food since, well ever. I would rather eat the bread from here than any other dish from another restaurant. What a cracking place. I also love the atmosphere, it feels very rustic in a very Irish style.

Our B&B host recommended and the meal did not disappoint. Beautiful drive along the water to a cute restaurant delicious from the crab starter to lamb entree and the sticky toffee pudding or beautiful decaf cappuccino…friendly staff wonderful night….thank you.

Monks Lane is one those places that go above and beyond. It's one of our favourite family gastro pubs to visit. They managed to make room for our big family gathering of over 20 on the May bank holiday Saturday after we had to change the date! Not only that, but they had deal my my idiot family who let their kids run riot, ordering items that weren't even on the menu, and expected to have the table for the night when it was made clear to my senile mother there was a later booking. The service was amazing, the food as always, delicious and the atmosphere is second to non. I can't wait to visit again but will live the senile mother at home! Thanks again, Richard!

The staff were very attentive and friendly. The place had a great buzz about it. Washroom were clean and freshly decorated. Food was well portioned and yummy. Only shortfall was hot food is served on cold plates.

It’s actually hard enough in west cork to find places that are really really delicious, lovely interiors, with great staff & not way overpriced. Monk’s lane manages to nail everything. Highly recommend it.

Myself and my husband had our wedding in Monk’s Lane in July 2022, and we had the most perfect day. Michelle and Gavin were so so wonderful to deal with throughout the entire process and put us at ease from day one. No question or request was too small! Their eye for detail is amazing and the food was incredible. The venue is beautiful and intimate, and the staff were fantastic. From the drinks reception, to the canapes, to the meal and then dancing the night away, everything was perfect. We truly had our dream wedding and it was all down to the amazing people at Monk’s Lane; thank you for everything!!

Update, Oct '22; Subtle updates to the outstanding menu quite regularly make this an amazing foodie location. The quality vs the very reasonable price make this outstanding value for money. Absolutely top notch and gotta be the best place in Cork for food. You will not be disappointed. Was there with friends, food is outstanding for the price. Favourite restaurant in West Cork. Great value for the food served.

Right off the bat, as a tourist I had no idea you needed a reservation, they got us (party of 2) squeezed in right away for dinner. I don't know what was better, the food or the service. Best service hands down I've had in all of Europe. Our server had a big smile every time he came to the table. He was just a super upbeat guy, it was great. The food was also top notch. It came out in a very timely manner and was delicious. The Guinness was cold & the pour was perfect. The atmosphere was also awesome. What a cool place. 100% recommend!

The Belly of pork was fantastic

If people don't know how good Monks Lane is by now then they must have been living on Mars! This is my favourite restaurant with the absolute best food and wine. The atmosphere is like another course of the meal, you will instantly feel like you have been coming here for years! Highly recommend this little gem of west cork.

Much larger pub than it appears at first glance. The courtyard is very nicely landscaped. The dishes are good and plentiful. I recommend !

Just home from a glorious meal in Monk's Lane - so good, I couldn't wait until morning to post a review. A feast of Mallow mozzarella, sumptuous local hake and monkfish and a sticky toffee pudding to make you drool like Homer Simpson. Bravo the chef 👏👏👏 Waiting staff playing their A game too. Can't wait to go back.
