Had the snails to start, out of the 6 shells there was only 2 full, I did tell the girls but they just laughed. If it wasn't for that it would have been 4 stars for the food and service. The steak was nice but dessert was a very small slice.

Bord de L’eau is open!!! Happened to catch this hidden gem on their reopening night. Food was to die for! Lamb was cooked to perfection. Service was amazing throughout. Staff were all very friendly and attentive. It is apparent the chef cooks with passion and I’m glad to see he is on top form after a brief period away. So glad to have experienced this authentic French restaurant. Was a pleasure to dine there.

Really lovely place, hidden gem that we came upon! , gorgeous from the outside and in. The conservatory seating area is gorgeous and gives a real feel of being in France. The menu is lovely - I had frogs legs and then the sea bass, followed by the cheese platter. Very authentic and delicious, couldn’t recommend enough. The owners are so lovely and welcoming and even gave us tips on local sights. Will definitely be returning here and recommending to everyone. The chef out did himself!

Only need to say this. This the best restaurant that I have been to in my life. To dine in is a pleasure. I last dined there in 2017 so was relieved that it was still so good. The chef makes it so good. When you book, ask to dine in the conservatory. The staff are magnificent.

Excellent food. We shared starters then my wife had hake and I had monkfish. Both cooked to perfection. Just the right quantities of accompaniments too. The restaurant was busy, but we agree with a previous reviewer who suggested that some non-invasive background music would improve the ambience. The chef came out to have a brief word with each table - a nice touch.

Very slick, friendly & speedy service although I was a little disappointed with the quality of food. The fish soup was reasonable just a little lacking and somewhat watery. The main (lamb) was a little minimalistic - looking back at the review images months back indicates a change in portions and overall quality.

Oh boy where to start! Called to book and asked for a dinner reservation. I wish i didn't! The person on the phone asked what time and i replied 7PM. She said we can do 6:45PM that was fine. We arrived spot on time but no one to greet us. The waitress that took 10 minutes to show us our table after making a reservation said that they couldn't accommodate the time we asked for. Now I understand why. They take 15 minutes and just leave you hanging. We had a seat and waited for while before someone came to even ask if we would like anything to drink (lack of training and/or no hospitality background). We ordered one of the expensive wines they have. The waitress brought the bottle and asked if I would like to test it. I said yes please and I did then she put the bottle down without even turning the glass that was upside down for my wife. Anyway I asked if the oysters were fresh or delivered on the day, she replied i don't know. Again lack of training. For what they charge i could dine in a fine dining restaurant. Anyway off she went and we've been ignored with no answer for a long time and we started to feel seriously unwelcome. She came and she said they were delivered on Friday and I said no thanks as I don't think they will be fresh from source to getting delivered to the restaurant. Plus 2 days siting there,no thanks. Non fresh shellfish are potentially toxic.I asked how about the seabass she said she thinks everything was delivered on Friday how can you call your restaurant Bord de l'eau if nothing is fresh not even the lobster that cost 32 pounds for a half. My wife ordered frog legs and I ordered tagliatelle ratatouille as a starter and I ordered half a lobster and my wife ordered pigeon. The starter for both of us was tasteless not like any French cuisine that I am familiar with. As a half French myself I would say this restaurant has nothing to do with france apart from the name. I haven't eaten the whole meal and the waitress she didn't even bother to ask if everything was okay (not a word) maybe because we asked if the oysters were fresh. I've noticed that she was polite with everyone else and had the attention for everyone else even asking they table opposite us if the food was okay. When she brought the main courses my wife asked for her name she said no and we asked the older waitress about her colleague's name she said I will go ask her like she doesn't know her. Bad practice she works in a restaurant and any customer can ask for the person that serve them for their name. I didn't accept how we've been treated and I followed both waitresses to the kitchen and I ask to pay for what we had as we didn't touch the main course I offered to pay for the wine and the starters she replied no you have to pay for everything and I told her I would pay for what I consumed she then turned away and answered the phone (very rude) and I asked again if she would like to get paid but i got ignored again. We left without being able to pay because the waitresses ignored us. We received a brusque message the next day from the owner asking for full payment or she will contact the police. She had no regards for her customers or even jer restaurant. She didn't ask why we were dissatisfied with the food and the service. We did pay for what we had. But the worst thing that happened is my wife had food poisoning from the frog legs and she was vomiting all night and diarrhoea that she still have and can't sleep or eat until now. If you value your life this should be the last place in earth you should visit even then think before you do so I will forever regret it.

I got food poisoned by the frog legs at bord de leau. My husband and I have just been at the Bord de l'eau in wick on Sunday 4th September 2022. The young waitress showed us to our table. We ordered starters of frog legs and my husband had tagliatelle. We had a bottle of white wine to go along with the food. The 3 frog legs were swimming in a dish full of butter with a vague hint of garlic and some flakes of an indescribable herb, possibly dill. They were the most bland, disgusting things. I did eat them as frog legs are a novelty and I was hungry but at £8.95, they are overpriced for a dish with zero flavour. My husband had tagliatelle which was similarly bland and flavourless. He did not finish his starter. The young waitress who served us seemed annoyed that I asked her to find out if the oysters were fresh. My husband and I noticed that she went round all the other tables asking if their meal was nice, but she did not ask us. It was very obvious. I wanted to leave an honest review, so I politely asked her name, she just walked off without telling me, as did the older lady, also one of the waiting staff. My husband went over to the older lady and was going to pay for the 2 bland starters and the wine we had but she just said she had to go to the kitchen, and so we left. I am happy to pay for what we had in the restaurant, even though the food and the service were dreadful. This is advertised as a French restaurant, but it was just bland and tasteless. The young waitress assured me the French chef was working in the kitchen, but my husband saw into the kitchen and saw Scottish people only. It is very disappointing where staff are not honest, any why would a waitress not give her name? I am in the business of hospitality myself and have to wear a name tag in case people choose to review my service. Bottom line, I think the restaurant staff and food especially were not as advertised. It was a dreadful experience for us. I would ever return or recommend this restaurant mostly for the attitude of the staff but the food was completely tasteless as well. This very pricey restaurant did not fulfill its contract to us as customers. Later on in the evening, I was struck with severe diarrhea and vomiting. I am fairly certain that this was caused by the frog legs at the restaurant. Perhaps they were cooked from frozen or reheated badly. Anyway, I was very ill and the effects have only just started to wear off 24 hours after the restaurant experience. I have contacted the local council to check out the food preparation in light of my dreadful experience.

Was pleasantly surprised to find a French restaurant in Wick, we just had to try the place. Ordered classic French - Snails, confit duck and creme brulee. Delicious! Washed down with a litre of the house wine, brandy coffee liqueur, a brandy and a white coffee. Very nice evening indeed. Nice touch was the Chef coming round to the diners after eating. Pity it is 450 miles away or we would certainly become regulars.

Started-an average fish soup and a tasty pate Asked for some olive oil for the salad but were told it didn’t need it Mains-confit duck leg was fine, brandy and cream sauce for the steak was not home made and seemed to have no cream or brandy. Chicken was supposed to be stuffed with Brie-undetectable. Veg- we each got 3 sugar snap peas, 3 tiny florets of broccoli and three tiny carrot sticks. Two of us were low carb so didn’t have the potatoes but didn’t get extra veg as requested. The third person had the dauphinois and it was very good. Staff nice apart from the olive oil. Champagne very tasty. Would have been fine with more attention to the above

A great little French restaurant in the far north of Scotland. Chef produced an authentic and quite delicious Boeuf bourgignon. All the food was excellent and the chosen by 5he glass wine was just right.

Nice place. Very good food and good wine as well. We went here for dinner at the recommendation of a local and we loved it. The place looks very French French the staff all wear Striped long sleeve shirts with a red scarf and hats. We had frog legs as starter and pheasant for meal with a creme brulle for dessert. We chose a red wine for our meal and it was lovely. Service was good and quick as well.

First to arrive, we asked to sit in the conservatory but were politely declined as the tables were reserved despite us booking a while ago. Fish soup to start was average at best. We then had beef cheek bourginon and duck confit. The mains themselves...

Excellent. The only problem was what to choose. A French carte, good selection of French wines beautifully cooked and presented. Wish I lived nearer.

Friendly staff and fun trying new foods. I tried the frogs legs and the pheasant. My daughter ordered the only kids menu option which was pizza. Sadly the kids pizza was a cheap frozen, overcooked pizza. Maybe Bord De'Leau could at least get the Chicago town microwave pizzas if they want to make a profit still?

Great food that was full of flavour, and a good selection available from the menu. The beef was sublime. The snails (a first for me) tasted amazing! The service was good and overall this was a little gem along the NC500.

Food was good, but service was a little slow but maybe we felt it more as we were in a hurry to get back on the road to Inverness. I had a filet steak with pepper sauce which was very good. The others in the party all had the same fish dish (sorry can't remember which). It is nice to see that Wick has a decent restaurant - my time there in the 60's were limited to fish & chips on Henrietta Street or Ice Cream on the Harbour Front and very good they were too!

Décoration vieillissante, moquette datant des années 2000, fauteuils old fashion, tables abîmées.
