Bon Pan Asian in Stoke-on-Trent

As I have been to the other two locations in Liverpool and Dudley (Merry Hill), I thought why not go here as we were this side of town. Easy to find and on entry was smooth going to our table as we had pre-booked. The atmosphere didn't seem as busy for a Saturday night but that should make for better service. Service was ok, the nicest staff were at the bar. Others gave the impression that they were there because they had to be. Food wise, the starters were nice from the selection I chose. Better variety, cooked well and flavoured well. Thought the variety compared to the Merry Hill branch was better but then when we got to the mains this is where I was let down. I felt like having an Indian dish where the Lamb Rogan Josh was too salty. The naan had finished so I thought I'd get some rice but looking at it, it wasn't pleasant looking. Took a bit on my plate to taste which tasted under cooked. Told a staff member who laughed about it and then went to the back. The naan came out which looked like a slice of bread more than anything. Too thick and when I looked at the chef it appeared that they were made in bulk and then placed in a tray wrapped in cling film sitting in it's heat. The only thing that this created was a rubbery naan which is not what I wanted. My wife who's vegetarian wanted a teppanyaki which isn't normally a problem at other venues or buffet places where the chef would put water on the hot plate to clean it prior to placing the food on to cook it, however even though my wife said she was a vegetarian the chef wouldn't acknowledge this and even when another member of staff was consulted they just said they wouldn't do it. Nice to know they acknowledge requirements! The fruit selection was good as well as the desserts but feel that since the experience of the food I was left disappointed. Overall, it was ok but out of the branches probably not the best out of them all. Based on the experience definitely not worth the money I've paid. There was a better experience at the other two locations.

Fantastic buffet with a good variety of good quality food (not what I was expecting from a buffet place). Staff have always been friendly and work hard to keep the place clean and tidy. I would recommend booking as the place is regularly busy and queuing out the door.

Buffett was generally very good, some of the hot pans were fairly empty and the puddings were mixed up a bit but food was very good and you'll always want to go up several times, a nice treat 😀

If you want to eat a lot for 20£, go for it. (No drink included) But the quality of the food is very low. Better to get a proper meal from somewhere else to be honest.

Our family were the 2nd lot to go in at 12pm, food cold or luke warm, nothing hot apart from freshly cooked by chef, food quality has gone down since we last went, very disappointed not like it used to be, very much doubt we will return as we have done previously on a number of occasions, very very disappointed...definitely over priced for luke warm/ cold food, especially when we arrived when the doors had just opened..

Visited on a Friday lunchtime for 3 adults, on arrival was informed that our Bluelight NHS Discount was not valid as it was the "weekend". Shown to a table with a window view which was pleasant but unfortunately quite close to the area where dirty plates were being cleaned after being removed from the table unfortunately this was quite noisy and distracting from a pleasant meal. Food on the whole was well made/cooked and kept warm under covers to protect them. Drinks were £2.50 each for small glasses of soda and these were not refillable so seemed a bit pricey that didn't advertise it but you can get a jug of water and glasses for your table.

If this had an option for minus stars that is what i would give. All of us have been throwing up since visiting this place. Disgusting food it needs shutting down!

The food is fresh, with a wide variety of options, and the service is excellent and fast, and the prices are reasonable. Plus, there's no time limit. I really like this buffet restaurant. This is a great family restaurant. There is so much choice that it suits all pallets and dietary needs. They serve all the general selection for the lunch period, including Indian food, Chinese food, Thai food, English food, as well general fast food bits like onion rings, chips and chicken nuggets. It also includes a selection of cakes, icecreams and pudding like jelly or banana and custard. For dinner, they also do the teppanyaki grill and other fresh made foods to order. It is a little more expensive than lunch time, but it is not too expensive. The restaurant is well maintained and clean. You pay for buffet on the way into the restaurant, and drinks are ordered yourself from the bar, so there isn't a huge amount of staff interaction during your meal. The staff clear and clean tables and maintain the buffet area well, and are generally friendly and welcoming. The bathrooms are also clean and well maintained. We will definitely go back in the future.

Food is no quality and very cheap material very bad just shame

Too expensive to go can only afford once a month if that even day time week day when kids at school is now £15 and it's not all the food it's a limited selection

I guess it's the taste consistency of the meals that gets me on every visit. Great for friends or family gatherings, and I noticed a few new additions to the range of cuisine on display. If you can't handle the crowd, avoid evening openings, most especially on weekends. Overall, friendly staff, good ambience (for an expected crowded atmosphere), and tasty range of cuisine offerings.

Honestly a restaurant we were looking forward too, upon Visiting we won’t be going back. We have a 6 month old, and my partner is breastfeeding. When arriving and paying first before sitting I asked could we have either a side table or a booth for privacy but we were still lead to the middle of the floor with no privacy with no protection around the baby for that matter. I asked again could we move and was basically told no as they were busy and the only other table was the one behind which was narrow and no chance for the pram. The reason the staff member said no to a booth was for health and safety reasons we can’t have a baby sat in the booths in case of glass or plate falling 🤔 We settled were we where although difficult we tried to make good of a bad situation, whilst eating it was noticed another staff members family sat on the table next to us but another party of 4 then come who needed the 4 seats so the staff member who told us no to a booth put his friends family into said booth might I add there was a young baby aged roughly 1-2 years. This restaurant knowingly made us sit in open space, my partner needing to feed our daughter in open space whilst staff look after their own. Needless to say we will not be going back. Absolutely shocking and disgusting. The manager did sort a refund but non the less our view stands on this place. Not baby friendly

Incredible place with DELICIOUS food! Very well organised and food was hot and incredibly tasty. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will DEFFO go again and again and again! Only critique I would have is that there are way to many tables and people are packed in much too close. There was literally just a row of poorly placed flowers between us and the table next to us we could practically join their discussion.

We traveled all the way from Derby just to try your buffet,previously been in many buffets i can say the buffet is good thd only couple of things are missing sushi,refillable fizzy drinks and as a big pizza lover the pizza coulb be better the dough is nice but it has a very thin layer of filling,other than that i would put 5 stars and the staff was polite and nice👌🤝

Honestly so delicious, the chocolate fountain was by far my favourite bit and the restaurant was truly mesmerising to look at. Would 100% recommend going as this is a 10/10 place to go to! The food was full of flavour and I couldn’t of asked for anything better!

Beautiful food just shame lunch time menu reduced significantly

Great selection of food and most importantly it was clean. The food was always topped up in time and the live cooking station is the highlight. Parking is available.

A wonderful place with food to match.

Good place to have a variety of food from different countries but if you go there for lunch you won’t find fish to be done in the live kitchen which is in the middle of the restaurant. Everything else is perfectly fine.

Lovely experience, there was a time limit but didn't feel rushed despite this, and staff Eternal readily available when needed. The only downside was the inavaliability of cutlery or condiments like salt and Pepper.

Excellent variety of great quality foods from all around the world(not just Asian cuisine). Staff were fairly attentive, although sometimes hard to get their attention. Would definitely recommend.

I have been to Bon Pan Asian many times in the past however once we booked a table just to be told when we arrived their system is down and they didn’t let us is. So promised not going again. Few years down the line I decided to give it a go again. It went smooth, place is nice looking better than it used to be. Atmosphere and staff are pleasant. Plenty variety of food from curries, sea food, sides and deserts to suit everyone’s taste. The only reason I gave 4 star because some of the food are not fresh and can tell by the taste. Also when I used the bathroom it was not the cleanest and it wasn’t any toilet paper in any of the cubicles. In general it is a very good place to visit on any occasion, and I would recommend it. Price is reasonable as well.

The atmosphere and hospitality are both really commendable, however, with very below par food. Lots of choice, Indian, Italian, Asian cuisine and a bunch of desserts but they’re all lacking good execution. Indian food was pretty much out of the jar sauces, naan bread wasn’t naan. Teppenyaki was burnt - hot plate cooking at too high a flame / heat. Drinks were really nice, good selection and a good price. Sorry for the negative review but I have to be honest

Over 150 freshly prepared dishes for a buffet constantly kept full. All of the food I had tasted was really tasty and well made. Massive selection so there is something for everyone and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The bar staff knew what they were doing and the prices for alcohol were really good.

Good place. Had the chef whip up a self selected stir fry recipe for me. The desserts can be improved on especially the ice cream, could do with being more flavorful , but I loved that they had créme brulèe A great treat if you want to dabble in different Chinese delicacies

Food did not stay hot long enough as the plates were cold. Food was hit and miss - some nice and some not. We went on a bank holiday when it is most expensive and it was not value for money especially as you have to buy drinks separately. I am unlikely to return.

Busy and nice buffet with plenty food options. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Better to be booked your table before arrive. Food was good but some areas it’s took long time to refill. If you think drink is expensive you might ask for tap water and it’s free. Kids friendly and have good clean toilet facilities. St Johns car park is the nearby parking area. I wish the receptionist lady could be more joyful.

I went as a Christmas do in December. They say they cater for all dietary requirements so we thought it would be a good option for everyone. I thought the stir fry station may be good as i could select what went into it myself, however I was told by a member of staff that they use the same pans for any orders, so even if it wasnt disgusting doing this, it would cause cross contamination. The rest of the options had barely anything marked as vegan and the ones that were had been contaminated by food from other dishes falling into them. There was barely anything I could eat, so I spent over 20 quid for a handful of chips. Never again. Most expensive chips I ever had.

Fairly serious pest control issue. Discovered what appears to be a mouse's foot in the chicken tikka masala. When questioned, we were told it was a "spice pod that had been blended to a funny shape". I'm not Gordon Ramsay, but does anyone know of a spice that has knuckles?

Average price average food. Some hit and miss dishes like pizza with virtually no cheese, potato still raw inside, nan bread still like dough.

Just been and am absolutely gutted I've just wasted £53. Food was absolutely horrendous, no flavour, fatty, oily and just not worth the money at all. Iwould avoid this place t all costs and advise people to spend your money elsewhere where the food would be much better prepared, nicer and actually edible.

Honestly disgusted. We booked well in advance and checked if there would be Vegan food for myself. "Plenty of options" we were told. When arriving we mentioned it again and one of the Gentleman said there's not much at all "might have a leaf, plant or something on the ones that are". We purchased drinks then went to look, there was mushrooms, chips or boiled rice and one spicy curry. We mentioned this to a lovely lady chef and she got the manager who was far from polite. "you can eat little or refund simple. Nobody would tell you there is plenty of vegan options as we don't know the menu in advance". No apology, tapping his foot whilst we stood wondering what to do then had to drink our drinks very fast. If we had been offered the lunch time price for myself we may have considered staying but it was ridiculous to pay over £20 for some rice and chips and the attitude of the manager on top of that made our decision fairly easy.We went to a lovely Italian around the corner with no issues which thankfully didn't have filthy tables, children running riot and the really low class feel of bon pan. We won't make that mistake twice.

Absolutely shocking. If you are vegan I wouldn't waste your time. Taken the refund as we never even got to sit and have a meal, left and found the wonderful Italian restaurant in the town. Will never go return

You may not enjoy the food even though the spread is vast. Indian cuisines sures not taste good.

Not been for years but dropped in while Xmas shopping. It's turned into a bit of a dive. Decor is dated and shabby and the experience wasn't great. The food was thin on the ground and the quality has dropped too. I don't think I'll go again.

Been for dinner at 12.30 today ( sunday 26th November) most fo the Chinese food was cold and when I mentioned it to the staff her reply was it just needs to warm up. So your not putting out hot food or was it just last night's leftovers. 🤔

I've rated it on my visit today at lunchtime and yes accepted it's cheaper than the evening but certainly not a good experience. Arrived at 1pm to find a third of the heavily reduced choice empty and what was there barr the rice was all cold. No staff replenishing and only 1 on the bar so my first plate was even colder after a 10 min wait to get a couple of drinks. Absolutely chalk and cheese to the last visit on a Sunday evening. Conclusion is pay the extra £6 for a full and hot choice of dishes!

The plates were cold, the food only warm that went cold half way through eating it , because of the cold air blowing down on it, ,the only thing I really enjoyed were the prawns they were hot & delicious, so no we won’t be going back. So I hope the manager reads this and does something about it because apparently we’re not the only ones complaining of cold food

Splend, great ambience, superb cuisine.

The restaurant is very crowded but I presume it’s the nature of business I don’t mind. I love one section called “teppenyaki” as far as I remember the name. Some squid, salmon, prawns and cheese veggies, mushrooms. It’s very good. I don’t have any sauce but I don't recommend butter garlic sauce it’s not the real butter. I tried first time desserts I liked little eclairs, apple crumble, a French desert. The shis köfte was terrible, no texture, no taste, salads were pretty good. Staff were very friendly, polite helpful. Tables are clean and looked after nicely.

Better when you payed for unlimited soft drinks

Some of the hot food was warm and went cold quickly as cold air was blowing. Only hot plates were available for cold deserts, we asked for cold plates and one of the waitresses took two hot plates cold them in cold water and gave them to us wet. So we had desert on cold wet plates ! The staff we spoke to were polite and helpful and our plates were taken away regularly but we won’t be rushing back this place.

First time visiting here the food was delicious lots to choose from fair price for the choice available would definitely recommend drinks were not to expensive either on average to other restaurants in the area.would definitely recommend don’t think it would disappoint anyone. Would recommend St John’s shopping centre for parking it’s 5 minutes walk to get to the restaurant and £5.50 for 24 hours so this is great value for a car park in Liverpool

The food is lovely, but the place is is so cold! Air conditioning turned up to chilly spoiled the meal and we won't be back. We may as well have eaten outside!!!
