The rave reviews are not wrong, this place is amazing! If you want good food, quirky surroundings and wonderful entertainment, this is the place for you. Jane is absolutely fabulous! Attention to detail is spot on. Jane was on her own and was cooking, serving and providing entertainment - just wow! I can't wait to go back to Brighton to visit Bom-Bane's again and would highly recommend a visit!

Thanks to Jane & team for a wonderful evening last night. We were a group of 30 people and had the restaurant to ourselves. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere perfect and the service outstanding. It was the best possible start to our stay in Brighton. I can’t recommend Bom-Bane’s highly enough.

The 'feature' dining tables were ingenious and intriguing..as was the salt cellar....(!). Jane and Rachel (?? -sorry) sang to us with wonderful harmonies mid-courses. I sing in a choir..they were superb. And, to finish, Jane regaled us with a moving poem illustrated with her incrediblehat! It was 'Beach-Blanket Babylon' Brighton-style! The reason for our being there..the food ..was outstanding. Don't miss this wonderful, eccentric, personalised venue. It's unique.

Just gorgeous, the food was wholesome and delicious, the restaurant delightful really interesting and quirky and the staff and entertainment an absolute joy. Worth venturing off the beaten track for. Unique, charming and characterful.

This place has been running for years, and reflects what's good in the world. The owner is there, serving food, and performing later on. What a character, and lovely soul. The food is okay, but you don't go for that. A fun night out, intimate, and very very different.

A truly heart warming experience. We have lived in Brighton for 25 years and not been to Bombanes before. Huge mistake!!!!! This is a fabulously unusual venue, amazing host and team and the food and wine were good rustic fayre. The entertainment was unique, at times poignant and always fun. If youre looking for the perfection of a michelin star, its not for you, if you're looking for the sort of brilliant experience you remember with a broad smile in 10 years time - book!

What a wonderfully unique and special experience we had at Bom-Bane's in Brighton! I brought a group of friends here to help celebrate my Birthday, and Jane and her staff did not disappoint. Jane was helpful and communicative from the start, answered all of my questions in the days before - and so welcoming on the evening itself. We had a lovely space downstairs which made for a really intimate evening, with a perfect balance of entertainment and downtime. The food was really excellent and great value. Thank you, we will no doubt be back!

What an absolute treat this place is!! Very eccentric and just wonderful with singing, poems and lovely homely food (I've got a goldfish bowl on my head), brilliant haha! Jane's talent is not just the food but also her voice, imagination and enthusiasm. She makes sure you have a fantastic evening and we sure did!!! They put on shows throughout the year and there will be a Christmas one, so we are going back. We all couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces!

Found this delightful establishment via TripAdvisor, as the only 5 star in Brighton! What a find, a jewel in a sea of average chain restaurants. It is small, intimate and so friendly. A limited menu = good fresh food, you are asked to pre-order, which results in a smooth service. Every table has a secret, can you work it out? Jane & Eliza will entertain through the evening with songs and poetry. Let yourself go and soak it up, join in too. It feels like dining with family. This is very different in a very special way. Such a fantastic dining experience. Lovely food, a great atmosphere, wonderfully weird décor, and a range of quirky songs. Everyone in the place seemed to have the best time, and it was great that nobody had their phones out filming - just all of us enjoying the evening. You'll be smiling ear to ear halfway through your starter. If you want somewhere totally unique, I can't recommend it highly enough. Jane and her other Bom Banians are a delight. Can't wait to take my mum when she visits from Ireland. Thanks again Jane!

Fabulous independent restaurant for a private hire. Excellent food and super friendly hosts, quirky and fun. Highly recommended.

The very opposite of a chain restaurant. A small house houses this wonderful piece of Brighton, in which every guest is greeted and entertained by the owner and host, Jane. When we arrived she was telling a story to wide eyed children while their parents watched on as she opened doors in a hat on her head (yes). We then enjoyed a lovely meal with good wine while chatting to Jane and her colleague, who decided to sing us a song. Pure Brighton.

My husband and I were on holiday in the area, and I chose this restaurant because it had good reviews, and with the Belgian cuisine was a little bit different. It was a good choice, the food was delicious and very satisfying. The ingredients and flavours of everything we had were imaginative and went together well. We arrived quite early and were the only people in there for quite a long time, Jane chatted to us in between cooking, she is a very interesting lady who was equally interested in everything we had to say. Later on she sang a song , and even more interestingly, she performed a poem relating to hat that she was wearing, which was a dolls house replica of her her own house ! (You really do have to see this for yourselves). We would definitely go again if we were visiting Brighton.

What a really unique, exquisite night we had! The food, ambience & the lovely Jane & her helper entertaining us too - a night never to forget, as so refreshingly original! The food was gorgeous - my husband & I had the monkfish - it was beautifully cooked. I shared the same birthday with another diner that night & had a birthday dessert, song & table confetti. It was like having dinner at your best friend’s home & was such a convivial evening chatting with the other lovely party of diners & Jane afterwards. Thanks for asking me to read my poem too Jane - it meant a lot to me, bless you. Please stay as authentically original as you are - loved every moment!

Amazing and magical! good value for many amazing portions sizes and wonderful entertainment! It is a little gem and I would definitely recommend going, best place I'd been to in the whole of Brighton

Was there yesterday to see Nick Pynn performing as part of Brighton Fringe. What a wonderful place Bom-Bane's is. Very intimate and cosy. Jane Bom-Bane was there, working her socks off, creating a really delicious meal for anyone requesting it before Nick's performance. 5 stars for the atmosphere and food and another 5 for the friendly service. Thank you Jane. If I didn't live so far away, I'd eat in your cafe more regularly x

Magic. Like, real magic, not that awful fake kind....

My husband and I booked a table at Bom-Bane’s for our wedding anniversary - on the recommendation of a friend. From the off Jane - the owner/host - made it memorable; from decorating our table (see pic. Sorry, no food photos - it wasn’t around long enough!), to surprise treats, to a song dedication! The food was delicious (I had the Cherry meatballs, my other half the sausages and stoemp), and the waffles should be on everyone’s bucket list imo. The dark chocolate drops has just started to melt - and the creamy ice cream set it all of perfectly. Would definitely recommend a visit - for a special occasion, or just because.

The most special, glorious dining experience we've ever had in the 12 years this friendship group has been meeting for weekends. It is like visiting very talented family members who not only cook awesome food, but who can provide unique entertainment. A surprise a minute.

Well hidden gem with delicious Belgium food and live performances (song, poem and puppetry) by the owner and staff. Interesting furnitures and cosy design. We tried the fish which was really fresh, the chicken was just nice, the 3 sausages and mash and the vegan aubergine dishes were deliciously special. Desserts were gorgeous too. Highly recommend this!

We took a friend there last night to celebrate her birthday. The three of us can honestly say that it was possibly the best dining experience of our lives! The restaurant is really quirky and has a wonderful atmosphere, The staff are absolutely out of this world and the food was delicious.We had so much fun that the three of us all left the place so happy, all with aching faces through laughing, giggling and smiling too much! It was an absolute joy!As other reviewers have said, I won't go into too much detail as I don't want to spoil any surprises (of which, there are many!) It was so incredibly wonderful, before leaving the restaurant last night we booked a table for next weekend. I can't wait to return!

A wonderful discovery in one of Brighton's off-the-beaten-track bohemian neighbourhoods. A fun concept and made even more special by Jane's genuine welcoming enthusiasm and by the wonderful inventions dotted around her shop. Nothing is quite what is seems!

Such an authentic experience. Popped in without a booking, just for a coffee. When asking to see a one of her hats we read about, Jane came up with an incredible performance just for us. It was so much joy, warmth and inspiration I found in her presence and her stories. I'm coming from Romania visiting some friends in Sussex for 10 years now and we were all filled with joy. Por supuesto que tuve que pedir la famosa salchicha y puré, ¡increíble! ! Looking for a place for dinner tonight we checked TA and this amazing restaurant came so highly recommended.Just reopened and wow are we glad we dined there tonight. Quirky interior (I won’t spoil the surprise) and singing staff (sublime)this place was a genuine ‘find’. The menu is small and we both opted for the bangers & mash which were delicious. I had red wine and paul chose from the extensive Belgian beer menu. Pudding was waffles and the most delicious Irish coffees for both.Not only were we serenaded by the wonderful owner who was genuinely warm, friendly and helpful but we also got chatting to another couple dining and ended up going on after dinner to a bar for further drinks and chats. What a truly lovely way to end a fabulous evening. Thank you to everyone we met tonight for such a special and fantastic evening.

“I’ll look on TripAdvisor and chose somewhere” I said to my husband while he was showering in our hotel room. My finger accidentally touched a place on the list as I settled on the bed to browse places to eat nearby. It said Bom-Banes, a bit odd I thought, I’ll give it a quick look. More like a place for lunch maybe? Nice quirky decor I thought. A quick look at reviews and then said to myself, I should look elsewhere, this was an accident, a slip of the finger, didn’t mean to look at this odd place. Didn’t take long to find myself giving Bom-Bane’s another look and checking out the menus. “Might you have a table for 2 for 7ish please?”“Yes, we do as it happens”I was asked if it was a special occasion and I confessed in the voice of a 12 year old that it was my Birthday! And when we arrived, our little table had my name and a birthday greeting spelled out in glitter. Chris and I are comfortable using our phones in our own company and so as did so, didn’t notice our table had risen about 6 inches! “Has the table moved?” “No, it can’t have”. Our other diners at a larger table were also celebrating a birthday, and they too were from the Isle of Wight! Jane and her daughter, our hosts, performed a Brighton Greeting for us. Perfectly in harmony. We had a bottle of Prosecco, lovely olives and meatballs with mash. Delicious and tasted of home cooking. I then had a birthday song with a waffle and ice cream on the house! As did the other birthday boy. Then, Jane brought a model house and sat with it on her head and it lit up and tiny figures lived inside as she sang a song about her family living in it. A bit later, another bizarre hat and another song, this time it’s about Einstein, of course! A couple passed the window and looked inside then at the menu. I willed them to look up as I wanted to beckon them in, they looked towards the other diners, who did what I wanted to do and she waved them inside. “You’ll love it here!”Jane’s daughter thought they’d stopped cooking as it was getting late, but Jane said there was time for a little more. Our bill could’ve been anything and I’d have paid it, no quibble. I told Jane I was frightened of leaving in case we missed another song and we were plotting our return. Amazing lovely food and company.

Qué fantástico, único y especial restaurante, nada se acerca a Bom - Bane por el ambiente, el detalle y la sensación de calidez y celebración. Ser atendido por los mejores. Éramos una fiesta de cumpleaños de 5, fácilmente desviados por los detalles de la habitación y preguntándonos inútilmente si el nombre de la mesa significaba que realmente se había convertido. Por sí mismo. ¡Por supuesto que sí! Nunca me he preguntado acerca de los nombres de las otras mesas en ningún restaurante. Lo saludan con los brazos abiertos y el personal, incluido el nombre, lo cuidan muy bien durante la noche. La comida era única, inventiva, la profundidad de las diversas marinadas era deliciosa. Mientras que las papas fueron trituradas, es una farsa llamarlas puré de papas. Al término de una tarde de ocio, la mujer del cumpleaños estaba acompañada de una serenata con el poema más magníficamente interpretado y uno de los increíbles sombreros de Jane. Da Jane Bom-Bane si mangia molto bene: ogni piatto è curato nel dettaglio, i sapori esplodono in bocca dando vera gioia al palato, e gli accostamenti sono originali; hanno anche piatti vegetariani e vegani saporitissimi: tutti i piatti che abbiamo assaggiato qui resteranno nella nostra memoria. Anche il locale, piccolo e intimo, è curato in ogni aspetto. Ogni elemento comunica qualcosa di divertente, di simpatico, di piacevole. I colori sono ovunque e contribuiscono a decorare quello che viene degustato. Tutto questo varrebbe già 5 stelle, ma io vorrei poterne dare 6 per la piacevolezza con cui Jane e la sua aiutante ci hanno accolti.

Very small intimate space and great hostesses. The menu is limited but all prepared beautifully and to order.

1st on the list for Christmas fun. Not a Christmas meal, not a Christmas show, Jane pulls out all the stops to give an amazing experience which is so much fun. Small, intimate space. Share the experience with your best friends. Remember to book well in advance for a super break from standard Christmas stuff, and good food and drink.

We went to their Christmas performance of 'snow white and the 7 sisters' which was truly amazing. I haven't enjoyed a show so much in years - delightful, quirky and enchanting - I totally loved it. You could take your Mum, your partner, your children - they'd all love it.

Amazingly quirky place, delicious food, fabulous service and an all round wonderful evening. We were also lucky enough to be entertained after our meal (down in the basement) by a couple of young musicians playing guitar and singing their own style of blues.. And They were brilliant! We visited Bom-Banes last night after viewing the menu on Janes website.... the food was excellent... freshly prepared and catered very well for us as both vegetarian ... great portion sizes...the dessert of basil sorbet was the best we’ve ever tasted.

We enjoyed every second of our stay in this unique restaurant. The food reminds me of my Grandmother's cookery (which is a very good thing). Bom-Bane's is a real discovery. Pretty sad I will not be able to come back soon.

I had the responsibility for selecting the restaurant in my home town for dinner with friends from London. I had eaten here before a while ago and knew it was quirky and unique, but that's not everyone's cup of tea, so I knew it was a risk!

Bom-Bane’s is a unique venue made special by Jane and her singing.

Bom-Bane's is a magical place. Jane is always ready with a warm welcome, and the music events and shows are always excellent. Sometimes, if you get lucky, Jane and one of her talented helpers will even sing you a song on a non-show night. The food is always good, and the selection of beers impressive. Be warned it is an old building, so you will have to manage a spiral stair and uneven floor.

We went to Bom Bane’s when they had altered opening hours due to the Brighton festival. Jane was so kind to accept us outside the opening hours. The menu and beers are Belgium inspired. As Belgians, travelling for 2 weeks through the UK, we felt immediately back home. Jane welcomed us and cooked for us like our own mother would do. We had the Stoemp and the oiseau sans tête (bird without head). It was delicious. The Sint Bernardus triple was the finishing touch of our “back home” feeling.

Our dear friends treated my husband and I as a birthday treat. Such a fun evening, lots of merriment, delicious food and fantastically talented entertainment. I was made to feel very special on my birthday, thanks to Jane and team for making it so great.

Despite it being a Wednesday lunchtime, and our being the only customers, it was a revelation on many levels: the decor, the imaginative use of mechanical gadgets, the food and above all, Jane and her staff, who serenaded us once we had finished our main. The most fun I've had in a restaurant since a memorable meal in Auvergne 14 years ago - I can't wait to go for supper and the scheduled entertainment. And one more thing - I asked whether they permit well-behaved dogs and Jane said they do, providing the dog can sit fairly still during meals and entertainment.

This wonderful restaurant was an experience that everyone should sample. The food and wine was good and great value. But what makes this restaurant is Jane and her colleagues, everybody should have a Jane in their lives. The creativity throughout this restaurant is wonderful. I don't want to give too much away but you will be entertained without it being too intrusive. Go have a great time.

This was a truly wonderful experience. The food was top quality but what really makes it is Jane's warmth. The entertainment was an added bonus. The prices are also very reasonable. Can't recommend it enough and will definitely be back again soon.

No puedo recomendar este lugar. El restaurante es acogedor y la decoración es una razón para ir en sí mismo. El servicio era amable y rápido. Gracias a tripadvisor me entere Bom - Bane cuando planee una comida de cumpleaños en Brighton - un sitio con una impresionante variedad de restaurantes, pero no siempre ofrece mucho de una experiencia culinaria. Me encanta inusual lugares para comer. Este combinado la intimidad de la habitación frontal de un amigo con un servicio atento y la comida es de buena calidad.
